101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: First Litecoin iOS Wallet is on the App Store (LoafWallet) on: July 08, 2016, 02:14:04 PM
Functioning wallets for mobile should be considered basic infrastructure, litecoin should of had this years ago so I've no idea what planet you're from if you think this isn't a step in the right direction.

I agree, but Apple only started allowing Bitcoin/altcoin wallets on the iOS App Store two years ago.
There was already a Litecoin wallet (hive), but it's no longer being maintained.

This app isn't just for customer-merchant transactions, it could also replace most people's wallets as it is protected by Apple's AES encryption (only can be broken if someone finds a jailbreak).

Yes I understand that, I just think mobile wallets should be provided alongside the client rather than relying on 3rd parties to do it (hive, hash engineering) two years in crypto is a long time it would have been good to have an iOS wallet back then and a functioning reliable android wallet. Charles lee's vision (pre lightning network of course) was using Bitcoin for large purchases and litecoin for small everyday things like a coffee, picture everyone queuing up with their laptops and webcams at the ready to pay.

Anyhow well done on the iOS release  Cheesy

This looks good but who will use the wallet? There are not much merchants that accept litecoin. And the ones that do also accept bitcoins, and people prefer to use the latter because it presumably is more valuable going to the future. While ltc is in the cross roads.

Having just one CryptoCurrency is such a lousy idea .... I dislike Bitcoin core so I've moved most of my Bitcoin into litecoin good or bad that's a choice I can make. I would say choice is good as its the only voice users have there's no voting with mining power for most average users only the power to vote with ones feet.

I am not saying that this is not a step in the right direction, it is. My question is based on reality and what I see. There is almost no merchants that accept litecoin, and the ones that do also accept bitcoin. And since that is the case, people would tend to use paying with bitcoins.

I agree that having more than one cryptocurrency is better. But the reality is almost everyone uses BTC when buying goods and they also prefer to store BTC as savings in their wallet.

Roll back a couple of years to say 2011 the reality of what you would have seen was little to no adoption of Bitcoin by merchants yet infrastructure wallets etc. were being built out in advance, fortunately it wasn't just a case of hmmm nobody accepts Bitcoin let's all just give up and go home.

I really hope Bitcoin remains the king, after the beer, party poppers and pavement pizzas have been swept up following halving celebrations next for Bitcoin is segwit - lightning network - sidechains, sorry maybe these will turn out to be amazing and get ported to ltc but personally I'm not a fan I would rather step back onto a chain running behind Bitcoin and watch from a safe distance for better or worse, each to their own I guess.

104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum isn't even close to being dead and yes any fork is GOOD. on: July 07, 2016, 07:20:31 AM
Litecoin went 50X down, now 4X back up that's what we call volatility. When you think something's finished going down a good rue would be to think again.

Smartcoin wallet has stopped syncing with the network? stuck on 28 hours behind.

Caught up for now.

Any progress on possible fix for this ?

107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin Roadmap Release on Sunday on: July 02, 2016, 10:24:47 PM
Pretty much a waste of time mentioning litecoin here as it's considered garbage around these parts, most are too busy throwing their money at the queue of ICO's to read any roadmap anyway. Cheesy

If anyone has any dusty litecoin sell tonight and you can put it towards some random's new car or yacht.

109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Could be all alt-coins in danger? on: June 23, 2016, 11:40:42 AM
I would be more worried what Craig Wright does with all his Bitcoin when he gains access to them, I mean now that Bitcoiners have dropped a giant collective poop on him.
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The failure of Ethereum is complete - it is now a mere permissioned spreadsheet. on: June 21, 2016, 05:17:54 PM
I just see etherium devs, bran Armstrong, Andreas, exchanges, ledger and a whole host of others all slithering around together greased from head to toe not in ether but ethers big pot of viscous dev dollars - not a pretty sight.

Yes CryptoCurrency whispers but money still talks.

Most around here don't know their arse from their elbow and would trade decentralised currency for sainsburys shopping trolly tokens If it might make 'em a few quid.
111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin developers will NEVER fork to reverse transactions from theft on: June 18, 2016, 03:47:03 PM
ltc community is always ready to use some big news to show how cool and correct they are, even in this case where you cannot really compare DAO functionality with LTC

Hmmm the litecoin community pretty much stays silent for the most part usually any mention of it is met with a barrage of feet that try and trample it to death.
112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alt coins worth buying on: June 16, 2016, 10:11:06 PM
Smartcoin could sure use more community, It has had a tough couple of years and it isn't perfect which is probably reflected in the price. The branding has been updated recently, bleutrade listed it a couple of days ago, electrum is in the works we just need mobile wallets and much of the standard infrastructure is in place.

A concept render for a smartcoin cryptosteel wallet, alas cryptosteel can't produce an anodised or blueing effect to the steel shown and minimum order would be 200 units to stamp the logo. I might buy one and have it laser etched. In any case thought it looked kinda cool so would post it anyway.

114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Litecoin is the sleeping giant on: June 10, 2016, 05:35:33 PM
LTC bagholders always amuse me. Remind me again why do we need LTC?

Like it or not Bitcoin is heading down the route of high fee, low volume, small block, off-chain scaling settlement layer, litecoin on the other hand is shooting for low fee, high volume, adaptive block, on-chain scaling payment system.

Even if Bitcoin and litecoin were identical the two are heading down completely seperate distinct paths, also Bitcoin core has pretty much laid to rest and hammered the coffin shut for good on the idea of "one coin (one dev team) to rule them all"

A note on price - the majority simply will not consider investing one single cent on litecoin at $5.00, but will be eager buyers at $30-50.

I'll just keep posting this every day in a vain attempt to recover those sweet sweet smartcoins

I have pending smartcoin withdrawal for 350025 smc from cold storage from 10 days ago, I've raised support tickets and tried to contact you via several other methods please release my coins. This is a fair amount of smartcoin but not a huge amount in btc terms if anyone thinks yobit is fine no problems trading might want to consider withdrawing your coins now, I get that it is all fine and dandy until its your own money stuck for good.

I have a pending smartcoin withdrawal for 350025 smc from cold storage from 6 days ago, I've raised two support tickets and tried to contact you via several other methods please release my coins. This is a fair amount of smartcoin but not a huge amount in btc terms if anyone thinks yobit is fine no problems trading might want to consider withdrawing any coins not actively traded preferably in small batches to avoid the dreaded - withdrawing from cold storage. Which roughly translated means you're sunk.

119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Litecoin will see 10$ and above 2016 on: June 06, 2016, 03:40:50 PM
Updated list of why Litecoin is and will continue to do well:

  • Capable of four times as many transactions as Bitcoin in a ten minute period. Frankly if payment processors had adopted Litecoin in the past year current Bitcoin block discussions would be irrelevant (and likely the price of both coins higher). Anyone who has watched these discussions understands the immediate advantage of a network with larger transactional capability.
  • Faster confirmation times. The only people who don't think this is important have never spent a single coin or they have patience that the average person does not possess.
  • The faster block time of litecoin reduces the risk of double spending attacks.
  • Anti-spam.
  • Fast well established network. Current Hashrate is 1,643 GH/s. Since scrypt is memory intensive it is known to be approximately 1000 times slower hardware wise in comparison to SHA256. Fair comparison to the Bitcoin network requires multiplying that hashrate by 1000 (1,643 TH/s). The fact is for most of Litecoins history the hashrate has been relatively high and secure. Those comparing it to the Bitcoin network without considering this 1k factor are either being disingenuous or just ignorant of the facts.
  • Continuous development look here at number of releases in past year: https://github.com/litecoin-project/litecoin/releases
  • Upcoming new features and active development look here for whats happening in 2016:
    https://www.reddit.com/r/litecoin/comments/3z2ta1/ama_official_litecoin_developers_and_litecoin/
  • Longevity. Many coins have temporarily eclipsed litecoin as they were marketed for the purpose of increasing the fiat accounts of a small group and emptying the accounts of new users. Unfortunately this has been detrimental to crypto-space in general.
  • Great community.
  • Fully supported by GoCoin a growing merchant payment processor used by thousands of merchants https://www.gocoin.com/ as well as other processors such as coinpayments, Asmoney, Alfacoins and Coinify
  • Liquidity. You can sell thousands and not crash the market. Maintains value. Look at the chart here indicating volume in the last 24 hours relative to other coins. http://cryptocoincharts.info/coins/graphicalComparison In fact volume has remained high since last June while maintaining a stable price.
  • Soon to be added to coinbase.
  • Upcoming release to include a on-chain adaptive block size scaling solution. This will substantially increase the transactional capacity of Litecoin.

With Bitcoin Lightning Network with the smart contracts and sidechains eventually being adapted, there's just no need for Litecoin.

One coin with one dev team is a complete and utter disaster waiting to happen. Imagine the crazy idea that bitcoins dev team come under the control of big banks and they decide to turn it into a high fee settlement layer with off chain scaling. Then we would all be glad there's a similar alternative that's chosen on chain scaling as Satoshi intended - litecoin - "silver to bitcoins gold" "more Bitcoin than Bitcoin"

I think it is a matter of urgency to get smartcoin on another exchange. Yobit is down maybe it'll be back up, regardless of whether it is or not I've got a large pending withdrawal from yobit which is 5 days old no response from yobit to any support messages etc. It is a risk one takes using an exchange such as yobit probably wave those coins goodbye for good  Sad
