As I'm not working on this for any logo bounty, I'll be pretty blunt and say I don't like that direction at all. Is there any chance this can be reconsiderred?. The coin should be easily recognisable even at small scale this design wouldn't work as there's no element that stands out when the scale is reduced. It shouldn't need the text smartcoin on the face for the same reason.
I'm not involved with the logo at all, but I hold a decent chunk of SMC and I've done my share of graphic design work, so I'll also be blunt (though please understand that while it's easy to throw stones from the peanut gallery, I do truly appreciate the work that has gone into, and continues to go into, SMC): I don't see the point of the spinning coin, and I think it will be very hard to pull off in a logo in any form. Any sense of 'spinning' will come from blurring or other gradient colouration, which will a) be hard to identify at anything but the highest resolutions and b) take away from the sleekness and simplicity that should be the hallmark of any good logo. Aside from being awkward from a graphic-design perspective, a spinning coin has no connection to SmartCoin--sure it's a coin, but I'm not seeing the smart/intelligence angle at all (i.e., the role currently being filled by the light bulb). About the only thing it would work as would be a 90's throwback web 1.0 spinning coin GIF or something. Not sure hipster irony has a place in serious marketing though. Notwithstanding the slow, steady progress and dedicated devs, this coin has been plagued by mediocre logos from the start. The old grey on grey, sans-serif S was utterly nondescript and impossible to identify at small scales. The current lightbulb logo is at least simple and clear, but lacks the kind of polish needed for a serious project. The proposed coin-flipping logo looks like someone squished a fly on a quarter. The orange re-brand logo is by far the most professional and sleek looking, but is pretty busy for an actual logo--sort of like the designer was like, oh, orange is badass, let's start with that, oh, let's toss in circuit boards, because it's totally a digital currency, oh, and can't forget the sweet light FX and metallic fades.... It really does look 'cool', but 'cool' isn't the same as 'good, clear, immediately identifiable logo'. Think of the Nike swoosh or something--no Photoshop masturbation there. Anyway, end rant. Thanks again for all the time and work, but bottom line, please do consider going with a simpler, clearer branding strategy. Conversely, if it has to be one of those on the table right now, it's gotta be either the light bulb or the orange circuit boards. .......I designed the Bitcoin on the circuit board here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1268388 so basically when I saw the opportunity I went full circuittard on the smartcoin logo. Circuit board equalling smart or digital might be a bit played out at this point. Off the top of my head maybe the coin could be made to look like a smartphone - round with brushed steel around the side with the face being a digital screen. This doesn't particularly help with the actual design of the face right now but it's a starting point at least, a hybrid of a coin and phone like something that might exist in future, hold it over a payment terminal to pay for your latte, check your balance on it etc. Of course maybe a 3d render of such a thing might again lead to confusion, like it's a real product not a fancy coin logo. Any thoughts?

I would like to see something similar to this. If psionin can confirm whether it's a case of that design or nothing as anything I put together simply wouldn't use any of those elements I think having a coin then displaying 3 coins on it would generally create more confusion unless I'm missing something? Let me know here or PM me and I'll leave you guys to it, I'm happy to work on this but obviously it would be time wasted if you're set on that particular design only.

Did any other designers work on the smartcoin/international logo? If not I'll have some time over the next week or two to work on a new design (my previous one wasn't well received) I believe psionin doesn't want any type of letter on the coin, maybe everyone could get their heads together and come up with suggestions on what would be the best direction for the design keep or lose the lightbulb or maybe come up with a new symbol that reflects more towards smart "Internet of things" rather than smart "clever idea (lightbulb)" maybe something simple rather than the complicated chip design I did previously? Any bright ideas (lightbulb moment )?

I'm hope the Chinese decide to stick with Core. I think we need to address the "Core" of the problem instead of splintering off into factions.
Any attempt by core to pick up the pieces and get back on track will be a too little too late act of desperation similar to the content of the OP. Those who think core continuing with their fiasco will somehow be a boon for say goldcoin or litecoin or crypto in general are living in fantasyville.

the 1-2-3 combo to watch for in Crypto 2016
1. Coinbase is now running Bitcoin XT in their production servers. XT is an contentious hard fork attempt that will create a new altcoin and split the community and blockchain should it ever go into effect.
2. Bitcoin XT fud is driving the price down, and it could be assumed that players aware of this coming turf war accelerated the push up from $220 to +$450 ... this creates volatility and trade revenue potential ... the $200 price floor is likely to be hard tested for weeks or months.
3. BTC halves mid year.
What are the ALT positions that stand to gain?
Throttling the blockchain in order to make profit on the layers above does not make for a healthy bitcoin. Average users should want bigger blocks - More users, more transactions, more fees. Small blocks may make dollar profit for Blockstream VC's and keep Bitcoin as a cashcow for dictators controlling bitcoins social outlets but it will do nothing for the majority of users.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SmartCoin Branding - feedback welcome

at first NO at 2nd ... well maybe at 3rd look ... okay there is something to it!
(can i like the new brand and the old brand?)
even the really old simple S is okay
sorry mixed feelings :/
Take a 4th look you'll love it seriously though thanks for the feedback. I believe the smartcoin dev wants the S removing from the coin which I'm not on board with. So if anyone has a cryptocoin beginning with "S" that's looking for a logo get in touch.

As I said shortly after submitting my design my drive failed and I lost the .svg file so keep the 0.4 btc you never know it might be worth many times more in a few years and help you recover lost funds from this whole project.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BlockStream or BitcoinXT? Those are your choices, gentlemen.

No need to scale or upgrade Bitcoin guys, BlockStream's got you covered. Everyone talks about decentralisation but at the drop of a hat everyone falls over themselves to get back to centralised solutions. Most Bitcoin holders have no clue about the blocksize debate, they just want a cork for that fork. As all forks are bad and could lead to blindness.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 2015 The Year of The Litecoin

The Litecoin rise could turn out to become a repeat of the Auroracoin. Don't get lost in the herd and forget your senses. If there's not a fundamental change driving the market, then the pendulum swing will certainly return to its origin. but there's multiple huge fundamental change driving litecoin up. drama's happening with bitcoin (do i need to spell them out) where litecoins becoming the crypto safe haven. upcoming block halving. and despite the "no development" FUD spread; the latest extensive improvements in the latest litecoin client release. https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=26151.0You guys are absolutely correct. I stand corrected! http://youtu.be/93bGWJ-CjwA
