582  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Superior Cryptonote Technology on: March 05, 2015, 05:09:29 PM

The thread is more so focused around the earliest implementation of Cryptonote, that is Bytecoin(BCN). Which has been investigated hard enough to be confidently called a scam job at best. It was in a manner shown that Bytecoin has been existing for a few years and a major portion of the currency has already been mined. A forum user strangely discovered it one day browsing an onion link. Investigation revealed possible faking of dates. You can read more about it on that particular thread.

The possibility of a big scam going on was the reason a different, completely fair chain called Monero was started. It is the second implementation of Cryptonote and holds the largest vote share of miners.

And what about the NSA speculations behind Cryptonote? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CryptoNote#NSA_involvement

I am afraid i am not qualified enough to offer any meaningful insights

And now he works with DarkNote as it's the most advanced CryptoNote inspired project  Cool

Sorry, but only comments about the 'protocol' have been invited. So please stop shilling activities here. I hope you understand. Thanks

i don't so i just give it up?

Wait for devs reply. Sometimes i had problems logging in when typing the seed than pasting it
585  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency - 0.8.8.6 on: March 05, 2015, 02:00:41 PM
hi;

i created a wallet on mymonero a while ago; saved the 13 words and now i have something like "wallet doesn't exist".

I have the word incline in it i tried to change it for inline without success.

I don't think i screwed up the copy paste of the seed and i mined around 60 xmr on it so if there's a solution that'd be great cheers

Always save your view key and spend key also. If you have them, then there is no problem

Selling 1 full Nemstake private keys, PM with offers

Be careful, people, even if you buy a private key the original owner still knows that private key too!

Suggest something else then

Um. What do you want to know? I'll talk about Monero since that's the CN chain I've worked on the most.

(1) It uses a different elliptic curve than Bitcoin for signing (EdDSA, which uses Schnorr signatures on a Twisted Edwards curve).
(2) It uses a different hashing algorithm than Bitcoin for PoW, which is AES heavy and currently performs similarly on GPUs and CPUs. One of the main downsides to this is that sidechains are currently impossible (validation takes too long), however as sidechains don't actually exist right now we've been ignoring this. If we want to add sidechain support in the future, the hashing algorithm can be change to something simple. In the meantime, the algorithm is relatively "egalitarian" in that no specialized hardware is required....................................

Thanks for the detailed reply tacotime. Apparently Monero seems to be the best implementation of this technology at the time
589  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Superior Cryptonote Technology on: March 05, 2015, 12:45:29 PM
Ok, that's interesting. I don't know how I feel about it as part of what I like about Bitcoin is the transparency of the blockchain. If it was somehow an option that could be turned on and off...

Cryptonote allows you to be completely anonymous or public by giving out your view key IIRC

Lol foolish man, he could have used Monero instead
591  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dont be fooled by Monero's low price on: March 05, 2015, 10:15:47 AM
what is the most effective way to mine monero?
i only get 200 h / s with my core i7
and also 200 h / s for my GTX 970

i am mining at a loss please help me

You are not mining at a loss -

CPU + GPU mining (about 1:1 performance for now). Memory-bound by design using AES encryption and several SHA-3 candidates

Monero at the time is ASIC resistant
592  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dont be fooled by Monero's low price on: March 05, 2015, 09:55:51 AM
What percentage of Monero is already mined at this moment?

36
593  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dont be fooled by Monero's low price on: March 05, 2015, 09:53:40 AM
No we don't think the wrong way because we don't care about this and we don't need education either.

This thread was not intended for noobs like you
594  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dont be fooled by Monero's low price on: March 05, 2015, 09:01:54 AM
dont invest in this crap!!!

Yea, listen to this guy, he knows whats best for you

Fuck it!! I dumped all my Bitcoins at $331.
Now it is almost $334 Angry

Go pump and dump bitcoin. This project is not for the average
595  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How can we improve Namecoin adoption? on: March 05, 2015, 09:00:38 AM
Why do we need a decentralized dns system. Can you explain?
596  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Dont be fooled by Monero's low price on: March 05, 2015, 07:30:40 AM
Dont be fooled by the current Monero prices.

The Monero project has a much higher rate of emission than any coin out there. The currency is set to emit 80% of supply in 4 years straight!

That is 80% coins mined in just 4 years.

This is a very high rate of inflation, but for how long? See yourself -

The price is surprisingly stable with so much of new coins coming into the market. That means lots of people are hodl on this project. Soon as the supply dries up, Monero will be the only currency shooting up like lightning with no corrections in sight.

Created this thread to educate people who are thinking the wrong way. Take your positions, the time is running out

We're mainly interested in an improvement in overall complexity, and both schemes here are O(n). There is a sublinear ring signature paper that in O(log n) in size that we're looking at more closely.

No way! That would be incredible. That would bring this project from secure and private to legit science fiction level anonymous. You could have hundreds or even thousands mixin partners. Correct me if im wrong but wouldn't this be the cypherpunk holy grail? Is it really within our grasp and just need "review"?

Dont get me excited

Is there anyway i can make more xmr with this game? Like deposit in a fund and receive interest in xmr after some months

Adaptable size limits, per-block reward adjustments (as opposed to "halving"), minimum block subsidies for network security, are a few examples.

Yes good, but what about the average user? Is he knowledgeable enough to appreciate these advancements. Most people i told bitcoin about told me they dont trust any company for their money Tongue

The average joe will never be interested in whats under the hood. I say our best bet is to project Monero as an anonymous currency. This is how it differentiates us from Bitcoin
