All of the "shield" looking logos were rejected not only for being cliche but also because Monero's privacy aspects should not be viewed as a "feature," but as an inherent property that should be fundamental in any

Monero is not a shitcoin because it has superior privacy than Bitcoin. It is ONLY the privacy feature that sets Monero apart from bitcoin. Otherwise nobody would be talking about it here. Everybody came here for this feature

Those logos look stupid, likely why they didn't win.  First one looks like a police badge.  Seconds set looks like a superhero logo.

+1  Grin

I did not say the logos are good, i said inspiration could have been taken.

We then invited input from marketing specialists, advertisers, graphic designers, and brand experts, from various industries and various parts of the world.

Still came up with a logo looking like a kids toy brand.

Most of the 99designs have been deleted now and the remaining ones are nothing to talk about.

I found some designs digging up our own forum contest.

These designs actually describe Monero in a graphical manner. These should have been used as an inspiration.

Care to share a little about what it is? Am I right guessing it's a coin with anonymous send features like DRK and a few others?

Its not a coin, its a protocol

Is anybody interested in changing the current Monero logo. Imo it looks too cartoonish for such superior tech. It should be edgy and sharp. Marketing and image need to taken seriously. Lets hold a contest
608  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DRK vs XMR warez on: March 04, 2015, 05:48:45 PM
Lets end the war in simple words -

Darkcoin relies on masternodes for mixing. These masternodes are controlled by third parties. Why should i rely on third parties for my privacy?

Whereas Monero has mixing hardcorded into the system itself. No need to rely on anybody

Hence Monero > Darkcoin
609  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Cryptonote: More Bitcoin Than Bitcoin on: March 04, 2015, 01:53:39 PM
We need a review of this technology. Something brilliant and clever like this should not be ignored. Even satoshi made some comments on the essence of Cryptonote. Maybe he contributed in some way or another towards its development

Apparently it was in development since a few years and was intended to be a step ahead in the right direction, that is transaction privacy. Cryptonote is the tech which should have been bitcoin in the first place.

This is a very interesting topic.  If a solution was found, a much better, easier, more convenient implementation of Bitcoin would be possible.

I knew, I knew. I saw david talking about registering domain names in public and was counting the hours to some parasite register them all and come back asking for a ransom, here is my free sugestion to the devs: dump all other domains and stick to monero.cc subdomains and consider all other aside mymonero and xmrmonero a potential scam.

I am not apart of the core team, nor have I any close affiliation with Monero. But, I've taken precautions against just that, I'm willing to give free domains (Yes, they are high quality) to anyone wanting to build websites revolving around Monero, simply to combat domain ransoming this early on in the game.

I Dropped the price

I will setup an SMF forum or something else just like bitcointalk for monero on monerotalk.com as a freebie with my domains Grin

There already was a SMF forum setup for monero by Anon336 (or whatever three numbers postcede Anon), I forget the URL (maybe it was moneroforum.org, and now that redirects to forum.monero.cc?). There's also this forum which predates the SMF one: https://monerotalk.org/ .

I can make a mybb one too, ill transfer the ownership to the core team
