121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: EOS will hit $ 30 in Q2 2018? on: April 26, 2018, 04:33:44 PM
I think there's a small chance it will hit that, because then its market cap will exceed Bitcoin Cash which doesn't seem likely in the short term. But in all likelihood, if EOS jumps another 70% in a few months, it wont be alone in doing so, so the other coins will probably follow suit and bump by at least 50%.
122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: victims of hackers on: April 25, 2018, 11:13:16 PM
Moving that much money will be hard to do without leaving a trace, I think there is a reasonable chance that somebody will find out who they are. There aren't many cash buyers that would be looking to buy a chunk of that. It's almost certain you wont be getting your money back, but eventually somebody will probably hang for this.

Sorry to hear that your got caught up in this, hopefully you didn't lose too much.
123  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Europe Wants To Know Who You Are? on: April 25, 2018, 11:05:54 PM
Of course it is. They want to be able to control a newly developing system, one that is rising up faster than their legislation can keep up with. By knowing who owns which wallet address they basically give themselves some breathing room to retroactively track things that they might have missed otherwise. Then again, KYC is going to be necessary for global acceptance, we might not like it but that's the way it is.
124  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Should I Be Scared Of Hackers If I Have Lot of BTC. on: April 25, 2018, 11:02:54 PM
You should be scared of hackers if you're an idiot, not if you have a lot of BTC. There's no way for anybody to hack your BTC address, just by knowing the address. They would need to compromise your computer, and this would only be possible if they know who is the owner of that address (ergo YOU). So if you're careful, and keep a low profile, and don't make yourself a target, you'll be fine.
125  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin sidechains will render altcoins obsolete on: April 25, 2018, 11:00:31 PM
It's true. Once bitcoin has extensive side chain functionality, altcoins will be essentially phased out, unless they convert into a sidechain.

There's no reason why the ERC-20 standard can't be used for bitcoin sidechains, so it might not necessarily need to be an us or them scenario, it can still be a mixed playing field.
126  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to know if a wallet.dat is a BTC wallet or an altcoin (small trick) on: April 24, 2018, 08:12:37 PM
Excellent information, and very useful. Now I know which of my locked wallets is a Litecoin wallet.

Is there some sort of list for all the different coin types?

+1 from me.
127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: can eth reach over 700 on: April 24, 2018, 07:59:37 PM
Anyone in this 5hread did not believe what op said ? Its funny. $700 is very easy for ethereum. The question must be. Anyone believe eth will reach $5000. And my answear is still yes. There is no impossible in this crypto world. Bitcoin is coming from nothing to worth $20k. Ethereum is the most valuable altcoin. And the use is real.

Have your ever looked at the programming language it uses for its smart-contracts (Solidity). It is almost unusable, it was a disgraceful idea to use a proprietary language, just Buterin being egotistical.

That's connected with bitcoin price obviously. So when BTC reach its ATH, ETH probably gonna be over 2000 dolar at least. My positive opinion is between 2500-3000 dolar.

The last time Bitcoin reached its all-time high (around $20,000), Ethereum was somewhere near $1,300. If we see those levels again, then we can expect Ethereum to be around $1,000-$1,500. Probably on the higher end of that spectrum in my opinion.

As i expected, the price for 1 Eth reached over 700$ today.
I was sure that the price for 1 Eth under 500$ was a steal, because most ICO's are still using Ethereum and have not changed to other platforms. I believe that 1000$ would be a fair price for Ethereum.

So based on this, surely you emptied your life savings into ethereum and are now 60% richer?
128  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Forced to change on: April 24, 2018, 07:36:48 PM
First of all, it's not difficult to predict 4 years into the future when the path is so obviously laid out in front of us. Online bank accounts were becoming more common, digital payment systems like Paypal and Amazon Payments have become widespread with the explosion of online shopping, and the decline of physical cash has been apparent since the inception of credit cards.

I don't think that because he managed to predict a tiny fragment of the future that he is some sort of guru, as after all, only those who correctly predict things usually make the headlines, neglecting all the dozens of other people that likely said the complete opposite and got it wrong.

Let's see him accurately predict what the market will be like in 10 years, I bet he, and most other people will fail. As it is very difficult to predict exponential progress when we are used to thinking of linear relationships.
129  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling: Culture on: April 24, 2018, 07:34:09 PM
It's true that gambling is part of our culture. I mean, since early times we have been involved in betting, games of chance and competition. It's human nature to want to turn adversity into opportunity.

I actually read a book recently called the Ascent of Man, and it describes how even ancient man, before written language was invented used to gamble food stocks with neighboring tribes based on the outcomes of seemingly trivial events. It just goes to show that it's in our nature to wager what we have, in order to gain something more.

This is still prevalent in modern society, particularly in certain cultures like Eastern Europe and Russia, two gambling hot spots. I think it has something to do with risk reward mentality, some peoples brains don't process it in the same way others do. For example, I am quite risk averse so I only gamble when I am almost certain to win, whilst others might gamble with only a small chance to win, if the payoff is high enough (e.g. Lottery players).

Gambling is part of the human condition.
130  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to avoid ICO scam on: April 23, 2018, 09:43:22 PM
The simplest way is to just look at the team, if they have a proven track record of success, and reasonable goals, then they will likely make it.

If they don't have much experience with blockchain, then the odds are stacked against them.

131  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Panic sellers, please head for the exit (and don't come back) on: April 23, 2018, 09:40:08 PM
Pretty pointless to call out the panic sellers, they're the weak hands among us. There is always a new wave of panic sellers every time there is growth. And it will continue until bitcoin either moons or pops.

Hopefully over time these people are weeded out however, but I doubt it.

Bitcoin is up 5% day after day. I wonder at which point the weak hands sit back and think.... WHY DID I SELL?!

132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty Earnings on: April 23, 2018, 09:38:56 PM
If you are a high level member and you really dedicate yourself to (good) bounties, then you can easily earn a low 6 figure income. Be a beast, and you'll make it to the feast.

Also, you can tend to make a little more than others if you actually read the rules. Most people skip these and miss out on a lot of stakes.
133  Economy / Speculation / Re: Сontinued growth or dramatic fall on: April 23, 2018, 09:35:02 PM
Looks like we are going to be trading sideways for a while, bitcoin has been hovering around the $9,000 mark for a few days now. Right now supply is being met by demand quite equally, so we're going to have to wait until some event tips the scales one way or the other.
134  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency kills people on: April 22, 2018, 06:02:38 PM
People and their greed kills people, not bitcoin. That's like saying guns kill people, without considering the person pulling the trigger. You wouldn't put the gun on trial now would you?

Nobody is forced to use bitcoin, it's freedom, that's exactly what makes it great.
135  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: thinking quiting after lose on gambling. on: April 22, 2018, 06:01:05 PM
The truth is, only poor people gamble for money, otherwise you wouldn't be taking risks that are statistically unlikely to pay off. Just save your money, and invest it, rather than gambling. You wont be a millionaire, but you will be in a better position than after gambling (most likely).
136  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin really gonna be dead? on: April 22, 2018, 06:00:45 PM
I think bitcoin has died even more times than superman. That being said, I really don't think we have seen the end of this trend, the news websites seem to love being wrong over and over again.
137  Economy / Securities / Re: Do you think all ICO are securities ? on: April 22, 2018, 05:59:54 PM
I would say that some ICOs are bordering on securities. Particularly the ones that pay dividends, or giving you voting rights in how the ICO company proceeds in future. Maybe they should be called security tokens.
138  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: End of road for Cryptocurrencies in INDIA? on: April 22, 2018, 05:59:25 PM
A lot of counties have banned or cracked down on cryptocurrencies, only to later repeal the changes once they realize it's too brash. India will likely be the same eventually, as cryptos allow them to trade with other countries much easier.
139  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to know when to sell? on: April 21, 2018, 09:54:29 PM
The easiest way to know when to sell is when there is devastating news regarding bitcoin or cryptos, e.g. a country banning it, or governments cracking down on exchanges. You can be pretty sure an at least 5% dip is coming shortly after this gets out.
140  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Should I buy TRON or ETH? on: April 21, 2018, 09:54:05 PM
By TRON for maximum returns in the short term, buy ethereum as a long term hold card. Ethereum is likely to pass $5,000 by 2020, so it definitely has a lot of growth potential left in the tank.

Looking at its charts, it has excellent break out potential, to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if it goes +50% or so without the next week.

TRON is always one of those coins that outperforms its near rivals. Sure Ethereum is going to do well, perhaps 5-20% this coming week, but it will not outperform TRON, mark my words.
