doesnt look like we got much participation on the voting so the staff will step in and select the winner.
Voting always fails on this forum, so i agree, it is the best to just pickup one that coin developers likes it the most. Public voting is always abused in this forum. There was no mention of a public vote originally. I have specifically informed the OP that I am unwilling to participate in a public voting, but my submission has nonetheless been included. Considering the amount of negativity these kind of voting tend to generate, I don't understand why people continue to see this as a good advertising method.

We were going to edit this official ANN and add a poll about that, but well, thanks. Why the rush to end it so early? We want the original plan: 20k blocks - 20k ELITE. But a lot of people are complaining that the cost of the mining is way more than what they might earn. My options would have been 10k blocks, 15k or 20k for the poll. But we'll let the community decide! Not a lot of people - just a few who rented rigs. If you offer coinholders the chance the cut down the number of future coins, of course we will say yes - but it will destroy the long-term credibility of the coin.

Tis a grand day, today. I won a competition - something even Leonardo Dicaprio has never done before.

Pool ops, considering there are only 20,000 coins, a pro-rated reduction of withdrawal fees should be considered. I suggest you guys discuss it here and implement a uniform fee structure across the pools. My suggestion: 0.0002 Don't forget the more efficient; the p2pool: sgminer --kernel x11mod -o next.awiki.org:8193 -u yourELCaddress/0.4 -p . --queue 0 -s 1 and the source code to setup a new node: git clone git://github.com/repojohnray/p2pool-one.git We don't have withdrawal fees at HashHarder. Coins are sent automatically. The daemon states 0.00001, we're charging 0.0001 Nice!

1. Buy up large amounts of coins from unknown devs that are likely about to be voted onto Mintpal or wherever else people are spending lots of BTC to get their coin onto an exchange.
2. Sell hard within hours after a coin hits an exchange for the first time.
3. Use your profits to buy the same coin at the lowest price possible and then sell them at the lowest price possible.
4. Repeat for as long as you can, until you are at break-even.
5. True altruists will spend extra BTC trying to lower their prices even further.
If everyone gets on board and knows how to identify the potential scamcoins right away, it will be no longer profitable for their cheesy devs and they will at least have to up their game a little bit.
This idea is flawed due to several reasons; chiefly, because there is no cost associated with producing altcoins. It's a matter of tweaking codes and reusing the same infrastructure. It might even encourage them to pump out more coins with the guarantee of a ready buyer. Further, who among us is altrusitic enough to waste his/her own money to protect a community that refuses to protect itself? The answer, actually, is quite simple. Just introduce a minimum activity count for ANN thread starters. This will instantly eliminate the torrent of newbie devs and P&D coins. Most of the P&D coins are being produced by the same group of people (or the same dev-for-hire). Most of regular forum members know that by now.

14 hours after launch, hashrate is currently at 350G, and difficulty is 2,500 and climbing.

Well done, Seņor Machado, well done. You should rename the thread into something along the lines of "Cryptodetective for hire". Also, you should consider wearing a fedora.

Next on the list... SailBoat: No Testnet, similar source base https://github.com/SailboatCoin/SBC/blob/master/src/main.cpp#L2528Spaetacus, CoffeCoin: No testnet, Same Epoch Time, are all copies of each other, possibly the same developer! https://github.com/CoffeeCoinDev/Coffee/blob/master/src/main.cpp#L2503 https://github.com/Spaetacus/Spaetacus-master/blob/master/src/main.cpp#L2503

Aegis: No testnet, similar source base https://github.com/aegisproject/aegis/blob/master/src/main.cpp#L2497
was clear like the sun that all those coins come from the same scam-dev Those are probably cloned. It is pretty obvious Fire or Isiscoin isn't the same as Sailboatcoin and Spartacus. I posted this in the Spartacus thread earlier too. Spartacus, X15coin, Coffeecoin, POScoin, and dinosaurcoin all had the same initial addnode=119.109.45.55 Yep everycoin with addnode 119.109.45.55 is going to scam coin list!, and ignored! And the ip goes to china.. What a big surprise.. Seems like its a Group of scam devs.. Some know english better then others.. And Some modify the code more atleast.. But basicly these coins are without future.. When you expand on the rest of the nodes of Spartacoin, it will lead to Supercoin, Lizarde, Aerocoin, Logicoin, Credits, OPECcoin, Rightcoin, TornadoCoin, Vootcoin, Boostcoin and more. I wonder if these are just mining pools' nodes.

A reporter is doing a story on the proliferation of alternate crypto-currencies, and the future of alts in general, if you are interested in being interviewed on the record (real name and phone interview) let me know immediately so that I could pass your info to him.
You must be seriously into alternate CC (min 10 hrs a week engagement), this would be an excellent opportunity for community leaders to speak intelligently about their respective coins, and CC industry in general.
A reporter for which publication? Some blog writers have been known to call themselves journalists. Associated Press (AP) can't get more legit than that, especially on the worldwide stage Being a stringer for AP myself, I've never heard of AP reporters outsourcing interview subjects or sources to a third party. So pinch of salt and all that. your profound skepticism is noted, please also note that skepticism without cause is needless disruption You could've ended with the first part of the sentence, and I would've had no reason to post again. Instead, you chose to end it with a throwaway insult. Of course there is reason to be skeptical here, of all places! Only a fool would think otherwise. This is Bitcointalk. You seriously expect no skepticism by leading us to believe that you are an intermediary for an AP reporter? An AP reporter that lacks the basic ability to find a proper and reputable source from the cryptosphere? Do you realize how ridiculous that sounds to me? And you dare call my light questioning disruption? If said person exists, let's hope his/her editor never come across this thread. I could have ended it any way I wished, and you to could have not started the misplaced prejudice to begin with. Your skepticism wasn't to advance knowledge but rather to test integrity, your line of questioning was an attack based on preconceived notions (as indicated above). As for "cause" foolish reasoning isn't cause, cause should be rational, reasonable, and responsible all of which were absent from your causal argument. The simple fact is your prejudice was unjustified, and your reasoning is for attempting to cause unjustified alarm was irresponsible. As for anyone seeing this thread, it's a public thread created in a public forum for public consumption, it supposed to be seen. Yes, you certainly could have ended it in any fashion - and you chose the worse possible way to do so. My original question was met with a silly boast, so my skepticism was/is entirely within reason. Even Gavin Andresen and Charles Lee would jump at an opportunity to speak with an AP reporter, yet here you are claiming to be the intermediary of one. My subsequent, entirely justified response, was met with an overblown verbosity meant to impress. Alas, it fails the basic test of comprehension and context (do you even know what causal argument means?). Apparently you failed to understand the last line of my post, so let me simplify it: if your imaginary AP reporter exists, his/her career prospects would be greatly diminished if his/her editor stumbled upon this juvenile method of research.Of course, you can greatly embarrass me by producing said AP feature article when it is published - but we both know that's not going to happen. Again, you apparently bring a host of prejudices to the table, you not only see and hear what you want, you apparently process the info with narrow reasoning. You started off on the wrong foot then place the other in your mouth, if that wasn't bad enough you proceeded to slip on your own silly notions and false assumptions causing you to fall flat on your face; instead of getting up to walking away in shame, you choose to dig in with more of the same. Obviously you're an over zealous unbeliever that is clearly focused on being irresponsibly disruptive and unproductive. That means when this is all said and done, you will not only see that you were wrong from the very beginning and every step of the way to the very end, but that there was no reason to be so wrong. I tell you what. I'll make this very simple. I'm prepared to offer a full, unreserved apology for doubting your claims if AP runs this article. Are you willing to reciprocate and offer an apology for misleading people in this thread if AP does not do so?

Would it help if we had a cryptocurrency that is pegged to fiat? For instance 1 coin is 1 euro. Obviously the advantage of this is that merchant don't have to immediately convert their cryptocurrency to fiat, sucha coin could also substitute usage of a bank for some people.
We premined a coin, with this goal, but unfortunately nobody is making use of the coin, because people assume that if you hold sucha coin and people fall for this idea, your super rich. You can buy the coin in a webstore on the bases of 1 coin is 1 euro. This is not the ideal set up, because we hold the coin, but to really give it the value of the euro, you got to have the euro's in return for the coin.
What we wanted to accomplish with our coin, was to make it unnecessary to change to fiat. Please provide feedback
But there is already a crypto that is pegged to fiat! Introducing..... Major Piece coin. The first alt-coin of its kind to retain the value of a major world currency * 1 Major Piece = 1 Euro * Release date: 3/01/14 Sadly, the coin died a few weeks after launch due to natural causes. Our thoughts and prayers go out to its family and friends.
