Decided to start mining this out of sheer boredom.

Hopefully it'll help bring some life into this coin, also.

So I do not think it's a good thing PoS. With the cessation of mining will reduce the number of interested (unless if is continuously conducted advertising campaign and some new innovations).Otherwise, it will soon go into oblivion. I'd love to I be  wrong. However, support for the project and I wish great success for Netko.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I have said.

PoS coins these days have to ensure innovation and features keep people interested. Otherwise it'll fade into irrelevance over time.
123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BipCoin, CryptoNote with Fast, Solid Transactions + profitable to mine on: April 03, 2017, 12:52:06 AM
Indeed, after a long period of high difficulty, unjustifiably high at least with respect to the price, we gradually returned to levels I'm comfortable with. Enough so to divert 100% of my cpu mining back to bip. Let's see how long it lasts.

Just gotta hope people are willing to pay decent prices for the new coins coming into circulation.

little-known secret: BipCoin is one of the most profitable coins to mine (and has been for months). And the difficulty is WAY lower then most profitable coins, so open to people with less mining power:
http://whattomine.com/

And BipCoin is usually the most profitable CryptoNote coin to mine.

Just needs to hit a better exchange.

Leaving coins in a wallet that most will forget about/will just uninstall when they see the market cap isn't too different from leaving them on a high sell order indefinitely.

Until you realize that exchanges can and do occasionally go belly up.
I was around during the mintpal and cryptsy fiasco. Thankfully I lost very little but it taught me a lesson.

Back then bittrex and poloniex were minor players in this field. Now they are big and appear solid but so did mintpal.

I will never leave a significant amount on exchanges unless I really intend to trade it

I was one of the luck ones that didnt have a penny on cryptsy (maybe some dogecoins).

By now i truelly hope that people have figured out that exchanges are a place for trading cryptocoins NOT holding them.

The bigger the exhange gets the more attractive they become to attackers.

Yeah, I don't care if a coin is POS or POW or whatever it is, I only ever hold all my coins in their wallet on my computer and NEVER on an exchange. If I do send coins to an exchange and set a little bit higher price than what is being traded I will not leave them there for more than 2 days max and I'll send them back to my wallet. I hate having coins that are not in my direct control.

These replies are ignoring the main point of my argument.

It was never about holding coins on the exchange, of course that is a bad idea - but it was about the purpose of PoS, given, regardless of whether coins are being held on exchanges or actively traded, the market still loses a large portion of healthy coin circulation.

The argument that PoS is so people don't lose coins on exchanges can be counter-argued with, well, a large portion of people already keep their coins in their wallet during the times they are not trading with them, just not long enough to warrant staking them.

This will only result in a smaller market cap and less people taking the time to look into the coin to invest and use it for its main purpose. The value of the coin is crippled, which doesn't help regardless of the supply amount.

So, the main question: Why PoS? How does Netko benefit from it?

Are there any plans to have BipCoin listed on exchanges other than Cryptopia?

OMG ?! Please someone help me Sad
I'm getting very frustrated. Why is is so difficult just to mine cryptonote ? I mined xmr just fine no issue. I did exactly the same thing except obviously I used my bio wallet and stratum pool. I get json.rs  failed login. Something like that. Sad

Post your config.

With ccminer, mine looks like this:

Code:
ccminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://pool:port -u wallet_address -p x

It's exactly the same as what you put but it's claymore miner not cc.
Also what is actually going on. There is an epool file with stratums in it I take away # to use the one I want. Then there is a config file and then the
Bat

Now why do the have 3 ways to add a pool ? Making me quite angry . The last 2 coins I wanted to mine I couldn't because of the Dev and now this. Sad

I'm not much of a fan of Claymore's miner given its fee and the fact that it is closed source, so I can't really help you there.

All I can recommend is attempting to use ccminer.

It's an and how can I use ccminer that is Nvidia . Now what ?

I have not mined anything but xmr . Never any other cryptonote

Try this: https://github.com/tsiv/ccminer-cryptonight/releases

The config will be the same as the one I previously posted:
Code:
ccminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://pool:port -u wallet_address -p x

Windows & Nvidia.

I have an AMD....

Have you tried connecting to a Monero pool? That'd be where I'd start.

Yes monero worked first time no issues. The last cryptonote I tried to mine gave issues as well.

Your comments on this thread sound kind of demanding and sound like you're blaming us. Are you?

It''s not your fault. I've had problems with other cryptonote currencies too so it's not just your coin. Sensitive much ?

@Namiks Thank you for helping me.I think I will download a fresh copy of claymore miner and try untill it works then use the fresh copy as a backup.

I hope it all works out.

Will Expanse follow Ethereum with dag files?

Basically, are 2GB cards gonna be useless at some point?

Yes but this will not happen soon.

Great. Is there a rough ETA for it?
133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BipCoin, CryptoNote with Fast, Solid Transactions + profitable to mine on: March 30, 2017, 10:01:44 PM

A shame about its 2% fee. Sadly, it may not last very long given the others are at 1%. :/

Good point. But not mine and I don't know who made it. Maybe they'll read this and wise up.

If I were starting a pool, I'd make it ZERO percent fee for the first month.

Yeah, gotta compete with the already established pools.

Why PoS?

I'm mining the coin, but PoS is a bit outdated given it stops healthy coin circulation through exchanges.

Pos is what this coin is gonna be after block 12900 (and full PoS 60 blocks after that)

Yeah, I'm aware of what PoS is and when this coin will move to it. I just don't understand why the developers chose it, given it can cripple healthy market growth.

Why do you think so? It certainly discourages people leaving their balance indefinitely on an exchange on a high sell order and hoping to sell, but is that a problem?
If people want to sell they will send it and sell.

Also, on high stake coins, like this one, I would expect price not to rise much, or even fall but at no cost to holders who stake.

Lets not forget that total supply is rather low too. Even after 8 years it will be less than 25 million and after 8 years the stake will be very low anyway

Leaving coins in a wallet that most will forget about/will just uninstall when they see the market cap isn't too different from leaving them on a high sell order indefinitely.

Awesome.

Looking forward to the coin's exchange debut.

dev, link for wallet dead

Sorry everyone. I am on it. I just found out. This is a github issue. The github account was flagged and I don't know why. The executables are clean. Maybe they are going after crypto now. I can move the repo somewhere else.

I have been working on getting on an exchange. I'll straighten this out.

You need to be more active in this thread if you want your project to succeed.

Even if it is useless information, mentioning that you are indeed working on things frequently shows the coin isn't dead.

What exchanges have you been contacting? Are there any considering supporting the coin?

I will get it on a reputable exchange. I don't want to give any predictions on which one. If github does not resolve the ban today, I will move to bitbucket.

You should consider finding a temporary service to use in the meantime. It's quite crippling to not have an accessible wallet so close to the launch.

Okay. I will move to bitbucket asap.

Great!

Remember to add the notice into the OP.

No need. I have gotten github to remove the ban.

Again my apologies to everyone here. I simply didn't notice. I have been at work on development and IRL stuff, and forgot to check the thread.

That's even better.

Could you also add to the OP how long it takes until coins mature and start to stake?
