261  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Antminer S9 Volt Rocket Ship firmware mod! ~ALL S9 MODELS INCLUDING S9i S9j~ on: November 08, 2019, 07:42:29 AM
freq per each chip would require a massive overhaul of the bitmain code. Not that I am aware of. I know there is one that floats around with a dev fee that supposedly is per chip but it's actually per board and it's all just a fake ui stating it is changing chips individually. Pretty sure you cant per chip anyways.
262  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Canaan Announces 11 Series on: October 18, 2019, 02:02:51 PM
Pricing looks good now compared to all other options, but nearly 4 months until delivery?!

It's interesting that they list Qty 1-99, previously they did not take direct orders for small quantities so you'd have to go to one of the distributors. I wonder if that is going to change for these batches.

The email suggests that the coupons are only for "partners", so guessing they won't be given to everyone.

The prices and efficiency are on point though.
263  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Current Bitmain Hardware Dump 10/13/19. Very ugly at 10c kWh to ROI Ever! POLL! on: October 18, 2019, 02:00:06 PM
Cryptoboreas has GREAT service and reliability and the cheapest rates in North America...but ALL S9's are now mining at a loss.
My S9's have not even reached roi nearing their second birthday. they will be taken offline very soon.
They performed rather well actually out of 27 S9's with 81 boards I only had 8 boards and two controllers and 2 fans die on me...10% failure rate over 20 months.

If it is your second year that is a lie. All my S9's ROI within 2 months when I got them 2 years ago due to price hike...

Also about 5nm you don't just press print designing the chip is a long process and the technology to make 5nm with a high yield is not that of production quality right now. Why do you think intel and samsung are not doing it right now and they are a massive foundry.
264  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Looking To Monetize My Software With Crypto Mining on: October 15, 2019, 12:55:10 PM
Hi mocacinno
First comment you said mining need i5, i3 Gigabyte motherboard Intel processor Is that enough?

Well... If you re-read my post, you'll see that mining monero with an i5 with 100% load, 24/7 for a full year will "earn" you about 50 cents ($0.5), and only IF the diff doesn't rise, the block reward stays the same and the price doesn't drop... This calculation does NOT take into account the amount of money your electricity company will bill you (depending on your country, this can be quite a lot... For me, the power bill would probably be ~$200/year, so my "income" would be NEGATIVE $200/year).

So, mining monero with an i5 will result in negative profit... Don't mine with an i3...

50 cent is 50 cents  though... If you got 7 users that's tree fiddy...

Seriously Subbir it's a bad idea
265  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: What to do with all the old s-9s. on: October 07, 2019, 02:41:26 AM
yeah  it will do 4th and 400 watts with one board.

if you have the older firmware from dec 2018  low speed does less and is quieter.

what about clocking it down with a firmware modification?

edit: voltage
266  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Braiins OS: open-source mining firmware [S9, T1]. New release includes AsicBoost on: September 24, 2019, 04:41:18 PM
What's the low down with braiins and core scientific?

Word on the street is they are using mineority app for deployment...

NYC is pretty old not crazy old links Europe cities or some Chinese cities.

So it does have some hidden spots. We were a mile from a large con-Ed power plant maybe the wire tapped into an underground cable. I  will never know but I do wonder about it every once in a while since it was a pretty cool mystery and in my favor.😁

I like to thank some of the hidden goodies and quirks you find in NYC buildings to the fast New York built up sooo fast.
268  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain to release S17E 64TH on: September 11, 2019, 01:41:32 AM
Plus it doesn't matter where its shipped from, its where its made that matters. So unless they are actually making the circuit boards and assembling the miners in Malaysia then surely they'd have to declare it as made in China.

It's where it's assembled. They assemble them in Malaysia.

Think of it like care. Parts coming from everywhere just like parts on the miner. Where it is built is where it is from. (granted I know like VW will assemble in mexico but yeah)
269  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain to release S17E 64TH on: September 09, 2019, 03:39:54 AM
what screws it all up is the tariff's though - Bitmain has told me that they can ship from Malaysia but the MOQ is way out of my price range.

I will be most likely hoping to get my hands on T15's from within the US where I dont need to run two damn lines to the PSU - another expense which forces me to either have half the miners or leaves me needing to install more outlets - with only 20 outlets currently I can handle 20 T15/S15 and only 10 T17/S17

If I can find the 15's at a decent enough price it will more than make up for the reduction in hash rate.

now someone please buy my 13 S9's for 3k a piece lol

Group buy! 100 units ain't that bad I'd buy 5 depending on the price.

I would say I would help organize a group buy. But I know the headache would suck and the receiving and reshipping and what not. Would have to tag $150 in machine to receive and reship them. Plus god knows the taxxes owed from the tariff.
270  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Antminer S9 Volt Rocket Ship firmware mod! ~ALL S9 MODELS INCLUDING S9i S9j~ on: September 08, 2019, 05:35:30 PM
Why don't you ask in the S17 thread? This thread is a bit too obscure to ask about the S17 firmware don't you think?

Meh it has served its purpose a few times over. I am trying to buy an s17 but I think I might just jump on the s17e and just go for the decompile route. But I got a good number of m20s coming and I think I should just tinker with them instead.
271  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain to release S17E 64TH on: September 06, 2019, 06:49:33 AM
Good glad I waited a bit to order.

Yeah I got my m20s coming but new bitmain would do something like this.
272  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Whatsminer m21s arrives this sat the 27th of July on: August 30, 2019, 05:33:36 PM
I think even before the tariff situation many companies were looking for other alternatives, Vietnam for example.

I'm not so sure there's much advantage of building high cost and low complexity items like these in China vs USA. A $300 cellphone is another story ... 10X more complicated and 10X cheaper. 50% of Samsung's chip fab capacity is in Vietnam, and TSMC's is mostly in Taiwan, so the real guts of the miners are probably not originating in China anyway.

All they have to do is ASSEMBLE it outside of china
273  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Whatsminer M20S 65 TH on: August 09, 2019, 08:03:41 AM
m20 easier to balance on psu's.

You can get an m20 early but you got to pay more and it is not worth the price premium pangi will charge you. Some resellers will get you them for about 3k.
274  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S9j Hashboard missing on: August 02, 2019, 09:18:28 PM
Yeah you're running a very balanced overclock. I would try what Artemis3 said.
275  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S9j Hashboard missing on: July 29, 2019, 06:17:45 PM
What frequency and voltage did you set it at? Genuinely curious as I have some s9's running at 18th/s for the past year. Most of mine run at 16th or 17th to keep things on the safer side.
276  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Terminus R606 750GH (up to 1TH) quiet miner, now shipping on: July 27, 2019, 06:54:20 PM
FORGIVE ME. I didn't read the fine print about buying the r606. The stick was something I figured would be cool like an fpga on stick from back in the. Please re roll my number for the next winner phil! I bring shame to my forum name for failure to read!
277  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon A1041 Review on: July 27, 2019, 05:02:32 AM
Where did you find the A1047 model?

It's on the chinese avalon site.
278  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon A1041 Review on: July 26, 2019, 06:34:40 AM
I might be picking up the a1047 seems to slightly beat the 1041.
279  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitmain gears will be available on their website in a few hours (24-7-2019) on: July 24, 2019, 02:41:35 AM
They really jacked up the prices.
280  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Pangolinminer & Whatsminer FAQs on: July 08, 2019, 09:57:53 AM
