I know that the forum doesn't moderate scam only DTs can give red trust to the OPs and shills of this kind of threads, but really that's all we can do with scam ICOs?
I hope that none of them will manage to get into DT somehow, because then all the fake red trust they poured onto the forum members will become real red tags and not just untrusted feedbacks...

Haha, if that happens then the lunatics will have well and truly taken over the asylum.
If I persisted in using that dystopian forum, then I guess I'd wear this sort of red trust with pride

783  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The Crypto Lawyer on: January 19, 2019, 09:35:55 PM

I was reading this on the subject of Blockchain Terminal, CG Blockchain and their ICO.
I became interested in the role of Edith Pardo, an executive at California-based public relations firm Estey-Hoover. She signed off their Form D.
A bit of googling led me to this

“It appears, according to the plaintiff, that Ms Pardo was involved in raising funds.
If that’s true, Ms Pardo has a lot of explaining to do. This litigation is exactly what should be expected given the press BCT received. And a lot of plaintiffs claim they have lost money in ICOs where management overpromised and underdelivered. So it will be interesting to see how this plays out as a precedent.”

It was attributed to "David Silver, a crypto-related lawyer."
More searching showed him to be an interesting character, albeit an American lawyer.
Quote
“At the end of day, I consider myself an investment fraud lawyer. I don’t care how people lose money—crypto happens to be the crime du jour. It’s not that complicated; I just say stop stealing money,”

He certainly seems to have his hands full. Growth business.

spoting those users abusing the self-moderation privilege on topic and defaulters should be banned from having the privilege of self moderating their topics.
How does one abuse his "self-moderation privilege"?
Some people use self moderated threads to delete warnings about shady behavior, criticism of the OP (or someone closely related), or questions that make the OP look bad.

Or they produce self modded [ANN] threads (for scams) that go on for over two hundred pages full of shitposts made by bumping service accounts, deleting all unfavorable posts along the way. Like so.

Do you want people to send you their money to invest in your project and you do not even have a website, a twitter profile or a whitepaper? The first thing you should do is show as much information as possible about the team members.

We are located in the Netherlands! Its a 1 man team with helping staff!

As I can't believe that this scheme is serious, I'll guess that the "helping staff" are nurses and the OP is locked in the "office" overnight...
786  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Bitcoin mining scam on: January 19, 2019, 05:39:02 PM
mode of payement : bitcoin
contact : only through their watsap numbers. The scammer had set up a blockchain mining account, he said i have to put in 1 btc in this mining account and the balance will grow. That was the only trading platform as he had told me. The mode of communication with these scammers are only through watsap and email.

Bitcoin transaction details?
What e-mail?
WhatsApp details?
If you don't want to share them here that's up to you, but any LE report you make will need them.
What country are you in?

Edit: OP has decided to open another thread with some gory details.....

Quote
I invested with a person named Jerry. He promised me that he will make 11k with $1000investement. I deposited him 1000 through paypal. Then after few days he said i have to pay for the insurancr, which he didnt tell me beforehand. Without insurance he couldnt do the furthur trading, so i had to deposit insurance of $1750 in form of bitcoins.

788  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: ADDISON CHURCHILL "new exchange, best at everything"?? on: January 18, 2019, 08:48:51 PM
What would you take to go away from the forum?

Well, back in September 2017, the price was apparently 1.25 BTC.
I base that on the last post of the OP of the thread for which most these shill accounts were created and one-used,

1 legendary account, clean

1.25 BTC
DM me if you're interested
thanks

And away he went, until the rump of that scheme (or whichever admin has control of these shill accounts now), ICO MARKETING : ARTICLES & REDDIT & DISTRIBUTION aka cryptodistribution.com, apparently snagged a contract to shill for Addison Churchill, as per the subject of this thread.

If an exchange or ICO or anything is legitimate, why would they need to employ a newb bumping/vouching service?

Yes, that's a reasonable question to ask, especially of a scheme which boasts of receiving
Quote
awards and accolades
My experience of the bumping services/scam subject ratio is pretty much 20:20. Why would a quality setup think about how best to market itself and then decide on a crass, clumsy series of spam posts on Bitcointalk?

Currently, I noticed with myself that I can only go to depth level 2 when using hierarchical view.  If I try to view either depth level 3 or 4 on hierarchical view, then I get a loading error (the page will not load).  Maybe too much data if viewed on depth level 3 or 4?

Yes, I found that too.
790  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: ADDISON CHURCHILL "new exchange, best at everything"?? on: January 18, 2019, 03:55:49 PM
Addison Churchill’s platform is a well reputed platform
Please provide credible third party confirmation of this well reputedness.

791  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: New Trading Exchange here!! Recommended on: January 18, 2019, 02:46:25 PM
I am very skeptical of this scheme.
I have outlined my reasons in this Scam Accusation thread.

This trading exchange looks reliable because they have won few awards as well which means they are reputed plus they are charging less service charges on the transactions that's why I am preferring this platform. I recommend this to you guys to give it a try.

You, along with other newbie accounts, are shilling for/promoting this supposed exchange all over the forum. Stop it.

People are using and loving this platform, your post made me feel like this forum belongs to the senior members only. Everyone has equal rights and opportunities to post whatever they want to post why are you reacting like like the owner of this platform. Thanks anyways

Another account re-activated solely in order to shill for this scheme.
That makes nine so far, as listed in my thread.
792  Economy / Scam Accusations / ADDISON CHURCHILL "new exchange, best at everything"?? on: January 18, 2019, 02:34:35 PM
I became aware of this scheme as it is being spammed on the forum by a succession of newbie accounts in the following threads.
Apart from the occasional real comment, most reactions are from related newbie accounts.
These are the threads:

Ongoing edits to include more sock puppets as they appear.

They are all farmed accounts registered on 16/17 September 2017. Those which were earlier activated seemed to have been used for the same topic, a bumping/shilling/PR scheme

Not really a good start for a site with such lofty goals as these:

Quote from: wesite

Yeah, ok.
Other "features" include:
A three tier MLM "Ambassador" referral scheme with a calculator promising $1000's a month (passive) income
No team, no history
a Nassau P.O.box address
Headline retweeting Twitter account
A 2 followers FB account
Same name as an FX business listed on Linkedin as run by a Keith Sazer in the NYC area, est. 2013. Little coverage info since 2014 or previous crypto involvement. Further research ongoing.
Alexa traffic estimate is 100% from Nigeria.

No reason for 20pt RED CAPS SCAM rating at the moment, but if it looks like a duck, associates with other ducks and quacks like one, then a sensible stance is not to indulge in $100million deals with it as suggested by their Fivvver video, without full due diligence..

This has probably been asked a dozen times before, but i am wondering where i can see who included/excluded me in their trust lists. Is this even possible?

Best i can find is; https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;dtview

but that only shows DT1 (?)

If you go here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;full;dt then (to me) you appear included on Dark Star_ list with a net (1) rating which puts you on DT2.
Get this confirmed by someone that knows what they're talking about before you go and paint the town red  Wink

Edit after o_e_l_e_o's reply
Although I don't think that exactly answers your question; I know of no way to check whether you or I or anyone is included or excluded by members who are not currently on DT and therefore currently don't "matter".
795  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: 100 Ways to earn Bitcoin on: January 17, 2019, 09:44:45 PM

That will take continual updating to have any credibility, lists such as these are out of date as soon as they are compiled.
Scammers (not suggesting you are one) have set up similar sites in order to list their schemes amongst legitimate ones.
796  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Kashking-Ventures.com is scam investment. on: January 17, 2019, 09:27:53 PM
For scam accusations I suggest you move this topic to the right section. You'll get a lot more exposure there.

Or rename the thread you started already and move it to Scam Accusations.
I read the link to that freebie monitor type site and quote the following
Quote
Kashking-Ventures.com Investment claimed that they has been on cryptos investment for 8 years ago, Kashking Ventures is a private company main business is on Electricity production, and currently they focus on Wind and Sun energy which more cheaper and cleaner, because of that they need large sum of money to make their line stay on track and decide to looking for Investors whom want to invest their money with daily returns to monthly investment plans.

and you needed to put money into it to discover it was a scam?

At this very moment, someone on this forum could be reading one of his self-moderated threads, full of positive feedback from his alternate forums profiles and decide to invest in one of the coins listed on VaultMex.

That's true, but it is very difficult to help people who don't help themselves at least a little bit.
Should your scenario indicate the depth of due diligence that the theoretical investor thinks adequate, then unfortunately it will only be a matter of time before he gets scammed somewhere along the line.
Search VaultMex in the forum search and critical threads are listed, search VaultMex in Google and "Scam Exchange VaultMeX!" is on this first page.
Involving moderators in any but the simplest value judgments is not practical or, to some, desirable.
799  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Cluster2k and VaultMex on: January 17, 2019, 02:04:54 PM

What is preventing him from using his many forum accounts to sabotage the trust level on another person's account?

I mean the way he did it in that image was obvious and stupid, but what is there to prevent a more systematic deliberate attempt spread out over a duration of time?

His untrusted feedback (and any untrusted feedback that he may leave from alt accounts) is pretty meaningless in the great scheme of things.
There's no way to prevent, in advance, anyone doing anything  if they are determined, systematic and deliberate about it.
Using Trust Ratings improperly is a problem sometimes. The Reputation Child Board is one of the checks and balance mechanism the forum has for that, but moderators are not empowered to act (unless in extreme cases) as Theymos seems to see trust as a P2P situation.
800  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Cluster2k and VaultMex on: January 17, 2019, 01:41:04 PM
Is there not some policy in place to protect the members of this forum from being scammed?

Unfortunately, no.  Scams are not moderate to prevent moderator abuse.  The best thing to do continue to bring awareness and encourage more DT members to leave negative feed back on the trust wall of those involved.

Can the moderators at least do something about this feedback he is leaving people?

If not I must ask with all due respect, what is it exactly are they moderating?

If you think about it, the nonsense feedback that he is leaving rebounds on him and confirms his lack of credibility.
