I don't suppose anyone has details about how to compile the firmware on linux? Smiley

Virtualbox?  Cheesy

imgur striped EXIF data. Very useful for posting semi-anonymous pictures.

Is that standard, or a feature?

I believe EXIF stripping has been set by default for a while now. Can't provide a source, just remember a discussion on this on Reddit.

144  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon Batch#4 Supporting Evidence on: June 20, 2013, 11:31:24 PM
Only thing that really makes sense is for bitsyncom to license the Bitfury multi core chip and reference design at this point. 0.39W/gh is hard to beat (if tests are conclusive) and since they provenly can build and deliver PCB etc. and have the (still somewhat) reputable Avalon name, they could make a killing selling basically Bitfury clones.

Metabank say 0.7w per Ghs
https://metabank.ru/asic

Where has seen 0.39w/ghs?

Thanks

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=228677.msg2515472#msg2515472

This is absurd.

Produces a chip that can operate at 5Ghs, manufacturing a device with 24chips and 120GHs.
But for the device consumes less you get a device with 24Ghs.
It's like buy a Ferrari and driving without gaining 3000rpm, consume less. But it is a waste.
Do you hashrate highly stable? or lower power consumption?

You should know that to have a 120Ghs device. Have 0.39w/ghs performance requires a device with 120 chips. This product more expensive above $ 18 / Ghs to over $ 60 / Ghs that if you consume only 50W.

actually if they reduce the package size, the asic chips can hash more and use less power.   Avalon has a 135nm package size and it does 280-400mh/s    .  I believe BFL has a 65nm package size and it does 5.9 GH/s per chip (I could be wrong).     KNCminer is working on a 28nm ASIC which may very well do ~60 - 100 gigahash/second per chip.

There is no reason to make gigantic chips that perform dozens/hundreds of GH/s per chip. BTC ASICs are not like GPUs/CPUs that require a large die size to contain all the logic on a single die. I personally would prefer to keep the die size small to limit the affects of manufacturing defects. Who knows though, KNC might decide to make a gigantic chip. I doubt it though, I can't think of a benefit for a gigantic chip right now.
145  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Should you Cancel your Jalapeno Order? - This might help to decide on: June 20, 2013, 11:09:24 PM
Just as a quick FYI,
People that ordered a year ago are just now getting their orders.

And I think they are shipping an an accelerated pace versus pre-order date. I know a week ago or so they shipped a few weeks worth of jalapeno's in one day.
146  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Goliath Miner-Cairnsmore3/4/5/6 Boards - Limited run for August Delivery on: June 20, 2013, 02:14:13 PM
Happy to see there will be a minimal build option @ ~$5200 for 1 CM3 board and 1 controller. Will wait for more details.
147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 4 7850's or 2 7970's? on: June 20, 2013, 04:34:32 AM
2x HD 7950s for litecoin. Mining BTC on GPUs isn't wise.
148  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Bitfury is looking for alpha-testers of first chips! FREE MONEY HERE! on: June 19, 2013, 05:38:20 AM
Congratulations! I now look forward to the next announcement with you guys selling your chips in bulk so local builders can manufacture goods based around your design. Truly impressive results that bode well for some energy efficient builds.

edit: Someone using your chip is going to kick ASICMINER's USB Eruptor's butt  Cheesy

So no chance of a 2-4 blade install? It would be awesome if your blade interface is ASIC agnostic and we could start with a couple AVALON blades, add some BitFury blades, and finish off with some KNC blades.
150  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: June 14, 2013, 08:14:04 PM
Every couple of hours I've been refreshing BitFunder and watching my portfolio jump up and down. The artificial 2.5 BTC/share wall was nice for stability. Rollercoaster time I suppose.
151  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [WIP] Lunch-Box-48 -{small time avalon based miner}- on: June 10, 2013, 10:12:10 PM
Been reading each post and I understand maybe 20% of what you are talking about. Perhaps in the future I or someone else will use this as a reference for selecting the components to place on a board. Fun read regardless.
152  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Bitfury is looking for alpha-testers of first chips! FREE MONEY HERE! on: June 08, 2013, 05:25:29 AM
Interested in a few chips AFTER the testing is completed. I'm just a hobbyist, can't actually provide any useful feedback but would enjoy buying a few chips to make some 1-4 chip devices for fun. Congratulations guys, I hope it works!
153  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Decent Quality Power Strips? Mine Keep Popping on: June 07, 2013, 03:25:56 PM
If your power strip is rated for 15A on a 15A circuit then the power strip will trip instead of the breaker when you exceed that 15A load.
If you use a power strip rated for 20A on a 15A circuit, then the power strip won't trip if you exceed 15A, the breaker will.

Good quality power strips basically have a built in functionality that makes them act like a circuit breaker if you exceed the load. If you're sure the 5 rigs don't exceed the load for the circuit you're using, just make sure to get a power strip with a rating high enough to handle that.

Also, if you're on 120V (i.e. North America), then 15A is 1800 Watts and 20Amps is 2400 Watts.

Most household circuits are 15A, some are 20A. You don't want to exceed that on one circuit, even if your circuit breaker doesn't trip because the wiring in the walls of your house is almost definitely not rated for more than 20Amps and you will have a fire hazard on your hands.

thank you

i am thinking since i am still running the 5th rig on the same circuit breaker just a different power strip I think it should be fine.

Your "thinking"? This is not something you should be thinking about. You should know whether or not you are putting to much load on the circuit. Get a Kil-A-Watt or similar device and find out what the load is before you start a fire. Also make sure the breaker is rated high enough, and running a 15A break at 14-15 amps is dangerous.

Load you breakers at 80% max. So, if you have 15 amp breakers, at most draw 12 amps from them. Just feel the plug on your power strip, I imagine it is quite warm.
154  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Selling my FGPA Collection. Get it before it goes to auction! on: June 04, 2013, 09:01:48 PM
You are asking 40 BTC for 5 GH/s of FPGAs. By comparison 50 BTC gets you 13 GH/s of ASICMINER ASICs. I'm not trolling as I'm possibly interested in the BFL FPGAs but I suspect your idea of their value is grossly inflated. May send a PM with an offer.
155  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMINER Blade Sales on: June 04, 2013, 07:51:46 PM
120min stats:

low clk: 10.910GH/s 149H/m 99.27% eff.

high clk: 13.044GH/s 178H/m 99.46% eff.

stratum protocol in use, connected via proxy

i recommend u bitparking.com for merged mining Wink, u earn a little extra

or bitminter

Wheres the Cheap ASIC for us GPU guys...
I wanna see a $300 ASIC, Maybe $500

Get the Erupter USB stick.  You won't get rich, but it is a good replacement for GPUs

They are a horrible replacement for GPUs. At this point in the arms race you do not want to 1:1 replace your MH/s per $. You want a 10:1 or even 100:1 replacement in order to maintain your network % ownership. At this point you either gamble on things like KnC's Saturn/Jupiter or BFL's 25/50 GH/s SCs.

I made a 'mistake' in purchasing an ASICMINER blade with this regards. I'll hit ROI but I doubt that blade will be relevant in 6 months. Meanwhile a KnC Jupiter will likely generate the BTC/day that my blade is generating today.

Can I ask, if you don't mind (I realise a little OT), why you went ahead and purchased the blade, if you were aware of this? You had to be aware of at least the bulk Avalon chips at the time of purchase.

Back on topic, from what has been discussed in the past it's their intention to offer lower price entry and shared hosted ownership of rigs in future. Once non recurring engineering costs have been swallows by early adopters, they can then ship a variety of mining options at cheaper, more affordable prices. This development stage is what's expensive for them as manufacturers and for any prospective consumers of these initial batches. The reward is the hashrate will be lower for the earlier batches then subsequent batches that will have various price points of entry. AsicMiner and Avalon could easily afford to drop their prices, but have chosen not to. However they will have to compete with newer entities as and when they come and prove themselves to be serious contenders.

It was a gamble that I think will pay off. I have recovered just under 30% of the investment and if things continue as they are I will have hit ROI by the time the Avalon chips hit the market. I am hoping to otherwise skip the 110-130nm products and jump into ASICs in fullforce with 28nm-65nm products that will hopefully maintain relevancy for another ~12 months.

I wish instead of buying the blade I had bought more ASICMINER shares. I don't think I'll lose BTC on this investment but it wasn't the most lucrative option, looking backwards.

Wait 6-12 months. ASIC prices will be forced to drop as their ROI enters 1 year territory. One manufacture will drop their price to increase product sales volume and others will be forced to follow.
159  Economy / Securities / Re: Inquiry: 100 TH/s bitcoin mine passthrough on: May 31, 2013, 04:19:58 PM
Pointless. There are PTs for SDICE and etc because you need 25 BTC to trade there. There are PTs for ASICMINER because there is no official stock exchange. Look how well the btct.co PTs are doing on BitFunder - that will be what your PT will perform.

Useful feedback. I'll just plow the 5 BTC registration fees into more shares  Smiley
160  Economy / Securities / Inquiry: 100 TH/s bitcoin mine passthrough on: May 31, 2013, 05:08:52 AM
What: Is there any interest in a 100 TH/s bitcoin mine passthrough? Currently 100 TH/s bitcoin mine(referenced as 100TH moving forward) is only traded at picostocks. 100TH appears to have a solid business plan and has the opportunity to be a competitor to ASICMINER in the short-term. 100TH does not have plans for future expansion beyond their initial installment of 103 TH/s. This evaluates to 200 MH/s per share. 100TH recently received their wafers from fabrication so we should have some news on whether their first attempt was a success or failure soon.

Why: The potential for acceptable amounts of short-term profits. I don't have any delusions that 100TH will remain relevant a year from now but their goal is a 100% ROI by end of September. Past that for myself it would another source of passive worry-free income. Opening up this passthrough would expose 100TH to a wider audience and increase liquidity for both myself and other traders.

Where: BitFunder or BTCT. I'm leaning towards BTCT but I would appreciate feedback.

About me: I started mining just before the great pump and dump of 2011. Since then my BTC fortunes have rose to great heights only to crash to dark lows(pirateat40..). Right now I operate 15 GH/s of ASIC/FPGAs and have another ~10 GH/s of GPUs that are to be reinstalled next month. In the past I've run a GPU farm that grew from ~6 GH/s to 15 GH/s. Lastly, I have ASICMINER holdings and I would like to diversify my BTC denominated investments. 100TH appears to be a promising candidate but frankly picostocks is less than ideal for daytrading stocks.
