221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When will Michael Saylor and MicroStrategy sell BTC? on: February 20, 2024, 05:27:04 AM
but I am talking about the case if the company sells a large amount of shares and the new buyer obtains a high percentage of the company’s shares. Then new buyers will have the right to make important decisions in the company, such as the decision to sell Bitcoin, if they can obtain the appropriate percentage.
Why would the company want to sell huge amount of their shares?
If there's no liquidation threat or stagnation I see no reason why saylor would or other big holders would want to sell their shares
I understand your view but you should realise that even those that bought the share wouldn't want to sell all their holdings in a single breath
It would have a more negative effect and dip in the share valuation than in Bitcoin
One major attraction of Microstrategy is their holdings of Bitcoin
If they loss this advantage
Their share price would take a hit.
222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When will Michael Saylor and MicroStrategy sell BTC? on: February 20, 2024, 05:02:44 AM

What you say is true. They can sell shares without selling a single Bitcoin, but what about the new buyers of the shares? They will become owners of Bitcoin. Do you guarantee that they will not sell Bitcoin? Then we will return to the first question: If they sell these huge amounts of Bitcoin, what will happen to the price?

I think you getting it wrong
They are buying the shares of Microstrategy not explicitly Bitcoin
The shares are been bought because of Microstrategy holdings of Bitcoin
This can be seen from the increase in their valuation of share since early last year.

Now moving on to OP question
1. Imo is their choice. Is their holdings they can choose to continue holding or selling, but we can't tell when that would occur.
2. If it's to take profit,  there wouldn't be much impact. The Bitcoin would be sold in smaller units that it wouldn't affect their market
Don't forget their recent Soaring valuation is as a result of Holding Bitcoin
Many investors are interested.
If in case of liquidation, Then there would be a short term dip but the market would correct itself and the sold Bitcoin would be shared and reduce Centralization.
3. I don't really. If you swayed by their actions you would fall under market manipulation tactics that most usually employ.

I just hope they sell, the more they sell the better. That's because I hate centralization and any centralized entity owning a large number of coins, specially when they do it with other people's money.
Grayscale is a living proof of this defect.
If anything happens to the firm
Shareholders would start withdrawing and Microstrategy would have to sell their holdings to meet up with their investors demand.

Lalalala
They are fighting for a piece of the cake
A scrub would even be accepted by them
The way inflation is been persistent many Banks wouldn't be able to keep up
What's the safer bet than moving from a depreciating asset to an appreciating asset
ETF have gained alot and Banks are interested now.
If they are given the go ahead
The sad thing is many individuals would still option in using Banks
Because of their misguided safety that the banks provide
Ignorance is bliss but most times its end results are not funny.
224  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 18, 2024, 05:04:26 PM
Snip
Angry Still not quite correct if double are added to the already own Btc
That would be like sum of a GP
Which would be 429.4967BTC.
But if not added and the 0.0000002BTC doubling itself then you would be correct
The one day escaped me too Grin
225  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 18, 2024, 03:50:45 PM
Would you rather have:

  • $1 million
  • 0.0000002 BTC, but doubled every day for 30 days

If bitcoiin is doubling in price every day for 30 days, I'll take the million and buy a million worth of bitcoin on day 1 and have that double for 30 days.

Is that allowed?

Maybe you should add rice as option

https://owlcation.com/stem/Rice-on-a-Chessboard-Exponential-numbers
Is good you used if,  because Imo it's practically impossible for Bitcoin price to double everyday especially in this stage.

I would pick the 0.0000002BTC to be doubled every day in 30days.
xhomerx10 has already shown why it's beneficial
107BTC is around $5.35Million with Btc price priced at $50K.
Now we in a bull run
The profit when it would be priced around $180K would be mouth watering.

I think philipma1957 thought it would be doubled every 30days.
226  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 17, 2024, 12:43:51 AM
Another day in the books (UTC) and another green candle. That's 11 of the last 12 days.

Gee. Are we in a bull market yet?  Roll Eyes
depends on the timeframe
Short term (days) Yes
Mid term(weeks) not sure
Long term(months/years) Yes.
227  Economy / Reputation / Re: Plagiarist DiMarxist is back. No signature ban? on: February 17, 2024, 12:12:30 AM
He earned 182 Merits for 399 posts. That's not bad at all, some people seem to appreciate his posts. I quickly checked his post history, and don't even want to read it. Could this be a local board thing, where too much Merit flows towards posts that aren't objectively high quality?
182 Merits for 399 posts are impressive and it is more impressive before he joined campaign and spammed, plagiarized.

You said banned for plagiarism
So far the user haven't done that
If you can not read, please don't reply. The user was banned by plagiarism, I did not say it but it is fact about the ban.

If you don't understand a text don't go all tiger.
I meant he hasn't plagiarised since they came from their ban.

I don't say about second chance is worthy for giving to DiMarxist. I only asked why it is different than four other users, no signature ban.

If it is a mistake, it can be fixed.
If it's just this
Then why create a thread over it and not just bring it to the notice of Cyrus at the second chance thread.
I second Oshosondy thoughts
I don't see how creating the thread is relevant
When there's a better option.

Not fully, sometimes it comes as a result of relationship built.

I believe it's too early to judge since its just around 5 post they have made.
Maybe with time improvement would be notice
This is a second chance,  therefore they would be aware that many eyes are on them to check if the second chance was respected and put to good use.
229  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 16, 2024, 02:41:12 PM
where is the thread that shows top 100 days for btc can't find it.
I think you meant 100 Push-Ups A Day Until Bitcoin Is $100K Challenge.

$477 million in flow just for today. What a strong day
Netflow have been going 9 digits for a week now
Stock holders are really seeing the potential of BTC now.

If the one day candle holds there's a likelihood we see $53K today
230  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Verifying a supposed Crypto site on: February 15, 2024, 07:24:31 AM
It's easy
You can search online
Like for example eag.cc review
This is how I check new or unknown websites to Me
And the search engine would do the rest
A site like this is not advisable to invest in
Even if it's legit,  it not been backed by CAC is a huge risk
Checked your site and the reviews showed that the site is a scam
Even the domain name speak volumes to its illegitimacy.
231  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 14, 2024, 03:30:21 PM
...
Yeah that's the plan
Target was to start taking profit around 2026
But I don't know if I can stand not pressing the sell button when $100K.
Well even if I do take some profit
Never want to be a nocoiner again
Still surprise am still holding after $50K. Continue increasing numbers
Bitcoin have been hitting every number you have said.
$53K around the corner
The next real resistance is $60K.
232  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 14, 2024, 01:42:13 PM

Bitcoin Valentine's Gift to us is well appreciated.
233  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Credible post and incredible post on: February 13, 2024, 11:56:32 AM
No offense but what category those this thread  fall on?
I think I will stick to quality and low quality in differentiating the appeal of a post.

Incredible means something unbelievable but maybe true so I don't understand how it translates to your definition of an incredible post.

Personally I would say an incredible post is one so exceptional that it looks unbelievable.

About the disappearance and maybe creation of another account
I believe most time it stems from lack of patience,  desire to grow and not been able to stand criticisms.
234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig Wight is not Satoshi Nakamoto, said the real Satoshi Nakamoto in Twitter on: February 13, 2024, 04:34:07 AM
No it is not a Joke. The Court Room was so hot so Satoshi Nakamoto just has contacted Justice James Mellor and wrote him the Official Letter on 9 February.

Official Google Blog of Satoshi Nakamoto
https://sites.google.com/view/letter-of-satoshi
Why would the court need the voice of satoshi to dispute something they consider a joke.
Craig had no valid evidence to claim he is satoshi and this matter has been going on for some years and now satoshi chose to come out?
Come on you can't be that gullible, no offense though.

Michael Jackson is not really dead. he has just changed his names and living in Panama with his news Girl Friend.  and you ?  you are living in Tokyo !
People would start taking you serious if you provide an evidence and not start spouting things out of nowhere.

You are wrong ! you can go to Hal Finney's wife and ask her why Mr Harrold Finney went to London on 24 October 2008 and met Satoshi Nakamoto on 26 October.

and you knew about it because?
To be sincere if starting to feel you trolling
You say things and haven't backed it up by any evidence
I can just come out now and say am Satoshi.
235  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do cryptocurrency increase the standard of living on: February 12, 2024, 02:56:45 PM
It doesn't necessarily increase the standard of living
It creates an opportunity to increase ones standard of living
And this is possible if one invest in projects with good potential and preferable relatively low risk(Bitcoin).
Cryptocurrency is not really the answer to eradicating world poverty but as an opportunity if rightly held can help reduce said proverty.

Not excluding that it has its own risk especially when dealing with shit coins.
236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What about the lost BTC? on: February 12, 2024, 12:56:54 PM

I mean adding it back to the supply to be available for mining again.

Not all coins that haven't been moved for years are lost forever
Some are just holding or temporary have no access to their wallet and this are usually branded as lost.
The number of lost coin are estimated not fully known
So even if Bitcoin protocol could enable such (the community ain't foolish to do such ) it would be nigh impossible to get the right number to add.

If the supply of Bitcoin could be easily altered then what differentiate it from shit coins.
It's limited supply plays a central part in it's value.
Lost Bitcoin despite the pains it would cause would increase the value of Bitcoin as goes on
And unfortunately more coins would be lost within the mining years of Bitcoin.

Lost Bitcoin can still be found if the private key lost or wallet password was found.

Even in the case of Fiat.  If you lost your money at your personal disposal the government ain't compensating you
This also applies with Bitcoin
I see no reason for compensation for something they have no fault in.

Sounds almost as cool as forty-eight thousand dollars per bitcoin.
I bet $50K would be cooler.
Where are those waiting for the bottom to buy?
We breaking through walls
Bitcoin a juggernaut.
239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will it have positive/negative on bitcoin development? on: February 10, 2024, 08:55:54 PM
Craig Wright has been going for ages
That the court is already considering him a joke
I think the hearing to provide real and valid evidence ends this November 13th.

There would be a dip
Now this dip is going to come from people that don't know that Satoshi doesn't have any control over the blockchain except is mined coins.
And if satoshi is Craig
It would have a lesser effect since he said he is private keys to satoshi Bitcoin wallet (I call bullshit).
But what Craig is trying to do is to steal the ownership of the code, and if that happens it would be terrible for the code and for the community. As the owner of the main code, he would try to issue anyone involved in the development... Exchanges and other services will have to pay for using the word Bitcoin, and it will be madness.

I don't understand what you mean.
If more than 51% doesn't accept any update, it would just be noise.
Sue any person that develops it? It's open source,  he wouldn't be stupid to destroy one of the attraction of Bitcoin and do you think the Government would allow such power in a single man?

He might be arrested, and Bitcoin would collapse. Though Bitcoin code is open source and decentralised, the real creator could influence it if he wanted, which would have an effect like centralization.
How can Bitcoin collapse if satoshi is arrested?
Bitcoin is doing well without his presence
The news would affect the price for sometime but it would recover and move on.
satoshi can't fully influence it, If there is no acceptance to the changes in this source code it would end up like a fork. Bitcoin can only be centralized if 51% of hashpower is with a single body.  If satoshi want to centralized Bitcoin it most be accepted by this said percent and I doubt the community would.
Imo So Satoshi appearance doesn't really have any significant effect on Bitcoin.

240  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are credit unions so much safer than banks? on: February 09, 2024, 08:43:50 AM
Because credit union tend to be risk averse than Banks
While Banks are profit oriented which makes them enter relatively risky investment but credit union as a non profit organization are not pressured to make huge profit thus their low risk rate in investing.
Issues still arise in credit union since at the end it's still centralized
Members can lost their funds due to the incompetence or stealing of the Head (Chairman).

Is not that Banks are incompetent, their investments like government bonds are the like are usually affected by Government policy.
This can be seen by Silicon Valley bankruptcy where government increased rate and people migrated from their old bond to a newer one.
This affected their asset in relation to liability and had to file for bankruptcy.

In summary, Like banks they have their element of risk since they are centralized but unlike banks their drive to make profit is lower.

So using Bitcoin and a credit union account is good since Fiat is still needed in our current centralized system.
