322  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many individual holders of Bitcoin are there? on: January 02, 2024, 07:03:31 PM
Alot!!!
Way more than 50 Grin
Well as Charles Tim said we cant really tell who owns what except the number of addresses.
That's one of the beauty of Bitcoin, its privacy.
Individuals that have multiple addresses exist while CEX holds many individual bitcoin in one wallet( why the term not your key not your wallet)

Quote
I would think this would be a key metric in understanding the market.
Not really,it would only help to know are diversified Bitcoin is
but if you looking for how many wallet address own a BTC then that would be possible to find online.
323  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - April 2013 on: January 01, 2024, 11:16:54 PM
Volume around $50 was insane. The resistance at this price will now be over 9000, or something.
Just stumbled on this post at the first page,
now we dancing at $42K.

326  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Bitcoin Investment Strategy Proposal for 2024 on: December 31, 2023, 05:17:22 PM
I was in a position like yours before couldn't hold my Btc for long especially after seeing profit
But someone advised me against this attitude
That I might miss out on a possible bullish shoot out
He recommended buying BTC with money I don't need
It's similar to your option 1, but doesn't have to necessarily be daily
You can choose to buy little in every dip.
Personally I would suggest using a non custodial wallet
Since funds are more liquid in exchanges and would encourage you to sell while neglecting your holding strategy.

Selling in profits is not all bad but selling Btc in loss? That's a no go for me
Trust me been there and it wasn't a proud decision.
327  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Know your facts: Fundamental differences between Bitcoin and Ethereum on: December 29, 2023, 08:05:13 AM
Ethereum unlike Bitcoin is centralized with individuals with the biggest gun having control over the currency.

Another reason would be the infinite supply and malleability  of Ethereum supply, the central authority can choose to produce more or burn more through gas fee.

The biggest difference comes from why they were created. Bitcoin was created to correct the flaws of traditional money system  while Ethereum trying to find its place created an Haven to create Shit coins.
On the other hand, BTC was $0.00076392 in 2009. From there, it has increased to 4-billion percent.

Almost impossible for ETH to catch this growth ever.
Shiba inu has risen more than dollar
Does that mean it's better?

why Ethereum can’t compete against Bitcoin.
First mover advantage. You can't defeat a founder that came out with a bang accompanied by huge followers. Bitcoin sets the pace, others just has to follow. But Ethereum success stems from the fact it created its own niche.

Ethereum isn't competing with Bitcoin at all. They can coexist and help each other thrive.
Uses and potential they ain't, but they are as an investment.
328  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 29, 2023, 07:26:11 AM

Sounds like you don't necessarily have very strong hands, and you are merely into BTC for short-term profits.

Hopefully, for your own sake, you don't end up selling too many too early.. and then regretting the matter and becoming bitter like a lot of the others who thought that they were smarter than everyone else and sold too many too soon.
Exactly my hands was shorter than this , I was a victim of the FTX dip bought a significant amount of Btc around Nov 8 last year and the bankruptcy in the market caused a significant dip.
My faith been weak in Bitcoin at that time and hearing that Btc is going to $10K dollar made me sell at a huge loss
Which till date am still regretting
By that time I didn't even know about this forum nor The Use of Bitcoin
I was introduced into Bitcoin as an investment without even knowing it's core value and potential.
Of recent time, when there's a big dip I just come to WO thread and find individuals with higher amounts of Btc still planning to buy more during dip.
Those actions have really helped me that I bought Btc around 26K and held till  35K was expecting a significant correction so sold half and used the profit(not capital) to get myself something good.
I can't just hold without enjoying it once in a while
Life is shorter than its given credit for.
Where was I yes, it didn't do the expected correction and has skyrocket to $43K
If I continue like this I might have to buy at $100K so felt it would be better to restart my DCA.

The D day to me is when it creates another ATH, don't want to buy at a price that would be at a negative zone in a year or 2.

I  don't plan on selling anytime soon that's why I prefer transferring to my blue wallet. If I do keep in CEX is easier for me to sell some portions  in profit but never in loss.

But would take your advice to heart never selling more than 50%. I hate trading trust me. The losses have made from it has only been mitigated of recent by me holding.
329  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Unless the prime suspect is caught, everyone is a suspect. on: December 28, 2023, 11:15:22 PM
2. Is not a suspect but a thief.
4. Is not a suspect but a thief.I

Yeah be cautious and do research before making any decisions.
Anything that's too good to be true is not true.
I'm still surprised people still fall for invest $1 and get $10 scam.
Suspecting everything is good but removes the fun in life
If you too cautious, you become me (Batman).
330  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 28, 2023, 01:24:43 PM
Please don’t forget the essence of this games
Bc not meant to spam the WO

It’s been done by some regulars when times where boring and just to have a fun and moment to laugh at the WO
Not a daily thing

Roger that😇.
New to the thread so wasn't aware it wasnt a norm and could be considered spamming.

KYC at an exchange that will allow you to use LN
 Put cash in there.
 Buy BTC
 USE that exchanges LN wallet.

I did a thread that does show it works.

Obviously only do a little of you wealth as this is the workaround for small wealth movements.

yeah that's what I usually do
The ease to convert Btc to my  fiat is what am scared of
It makes holding harder unlike Blue wallet that doesn't have the P2p function.
If it's a CEX I would be like I'm in profit let me sell and get myself something good.

Well the Good news flowing in the market can help me wait till ETF approval.

Because of the above mentioned my accumulated BTC is lower than my target
A minor dip in BTC just now..... So excited
Buying every dip till the D day hahaha.

Are you sure it will have a higher price in 2024? Do you have any technical charts? I haven't seen such technical charts yet, can you help me find such charts?
ETF approval news alone is enough to create a new ATH
Technical chart isn't everything
Most times news beats a well thought out technical analysis.

If you insist
one of many analysis in Favour of a bullish trend.
331  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 27, 2023, 10:45:56 PM

It certainly seems like Bitcoin was a bit of a gift for our planet in that it does seem to act as a store of value over time opposite to fiat currency.
Yeah but poor as a means of payment as of late.
Hopefully this scalability issue will be worked on in coming years
Can't even make any small transaction with transaction fee this high.
Bought some units of satoshi during this minor pullback(around 41400)
But have been unable to transfer to my wallet due to the trx fee.
I don't trust my holding in Binance since i can easily convert my BTC to my local currency to squander
Thus cheating on hodling.
Sigh ordinals are getting too comfortable in our land.
332  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Understand your wallet on: December 27, 2023, 04:31:37 PM
If am been honest i couldn't
learn anything from what you just said.
Let me assume what you trying to say is
Do your personal research why a wallet was recommended?
And that CEX is for trading while non custodial is for holding?
From what have learnt a good wallet for storing Bitcoin is an open sourced non custodial wallet
With good customer review.

So who can give it a try.
Not a place have been to but as a fan of history certain places peeked my interest to one day visit.
A clue, this showed me one of the devastations war can cause.

Already smelling 2024 Cheesy Cheesy
335  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Our Dependency on Google on: December 26, 2023, 11:32:56 PM
Despite their previous actions that shows how much they collect customers data
Sadly they still remain the most popular search engine.
I would go with Tor if one is aiming to be a ghost in the web
But it can be frustrating sometimes because of its poor speed.
Scammers are now using said Ads to rob and deceive users.
Brave browser doesn't produce any Ads not to mention having a Tor mode.
Firefox focus is one i usually use though, but there exist other that are way better than google and user friendly.

Any platform that provides personalized ads or programs like Facebook and TikTok have your data like an open book.
Lets be privacy and security cautious.
336  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Does it always take this long to open a Lightning channel? on: December 26, 2023, 07:20:21 PM
Quote
Is the channel opening transaction slow?
i believe thus is what Op meant
There's no active channel.

Like as @apogio has said, low fee tend to delay transactions when the me pool is congested
You can check the size of the mempool via https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#0,24h
If there are lots of pending transactions in the mempool and your fees are low
then it would take time before it gets confirmed.
337  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin - Contentment / Addiction on: December 26, 2023, 06:58:38 PM
Humans can never be fully contented
Greed per say but not addiction.
If you have a thousand BTC
Would you miss out on an opportunity to have an additional 1?
I doubt that.
Keep holding and keep accumulating
One can't get too rich.
But don't forget why you holding though
Enjoying life with your profits matters.
338  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have You Accomplished What Brought You to Bitcoin? on: December 26, 2023, 10:01:16 AM
I came into Bitcoin as an investment
A method to create an easier future for my kids.
Not there yet
Don't think i would ever
Its ever changing
I'm human, never fully satisfied.
339  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: I got a new hardware wallet to store my BTC, but there is a catch. on: December 26, 2023, 09:53:42 AM
Its already a common misconception especially in developing countries that all china products are counterfeit.
China's are known for imitating/producing any product at a cheaper rate
Which in most cases leads to inferior quality
This doesn't necessarily mean they cant produce good products
But they want to meet the demand of those in need of cheap goods
thus the low price, which in turn usually affects the quality.
Mind you if you want quality
They can give quality
The Bitmain Antminer S19j Pro+ is produced by a china company.
340  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Logging in to old account and backup file on: December 25, 2023, 08:26:46 PM
No Bitcoin doesnt delete old account
Either your login details were wrong or
An error occured during the back up process.
You might be able to get insight from this link https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5386898.msg59332246#msg59332246

You can still trying contacting their customer care
Or better still try creating an account again
And using settings try to import your wallet address.

Hopefully one of these might help.
