2401  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PSA: Most Stablecoins Can Be Frozen, Even When in Your Own Wallets on: July 09, 2020, 12:32:21 PM
Ironically this is likely to fortify Tether's position.

Until someone did something that attract government attention and Tether will be pressured to do similar action.
2402  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Band-aid solution for the bitcoin.org dilemma? on: July 07, 2020, 01:24:28 PM
Should i mention that https://bitcoin.org/ source code is available on their GitHub repository at https://github.com/bitcoin-dot-org/bitcoin.org ?

Besides i don't see how it it solve the dilemma, since https://bitcoin.org/ domain is quite valuable.
2403  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: historical blk00000 coinbase analysis: multiple coinbase blocks w/ same addr Q on: July 06, 2020, 12:14:17 PM
A scenario where this could happen is that a person is running two instances of the bitcoin software (in 2010, the software had cpu mining capabilities) on different machines with the same wallet file. Under this scenario, it is likely that he had copied the data from one machine to the other, which includes the wallet file. Then set both machines to start mining. Because they are using the same wallet, they will use the same pubkeys in their blocks.

but wallet files of early bitcoin core versions (before 0.13/2016 i believe) weren't deterministic and as far as i can tell the miner was getting a new keypair before mining which meant generating a new key would have given it an entirely different pubkey to mine to.

AFAIK bitcoin wallet have key pool feature which generate some private keys in advance, that might be the reason wallet on both PC uses same address.

The only odd thing is earliest thread mentioning key pool that i could find is from October 2010
2404  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Coinomi BUG or ...? on: July 04, 2020, 07:58:28 AM
Whether it's Coinomi bug or malware that pretends as Coinomi, i think what you should do are :
1. Immediately move your cryptocurrency from Coinomi to another wallet using clean/secure computer
2. Format your storage & reinstall your OS
2405  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A hacker gang is wiping Lenovo NAS devices and asking for ransoms on: June 30, 2020, 12:47:46 PM
The NAS is already discounted and stopped receiving support 2 years ago, so it's not surprising it happened. Same things happened with users and company who insist using Windows XP.

But in this case, the data still could be recovered easily as long as the hacker doesn't use secure way to delete victim's data.
2406  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Running personal server for Electrum on: June 27, 2020, 01:49:21 PM
Since you have privacy concern, i suggest you to create new wallet after using your own Electrum server. Make sure you transfer the Bitcoin in private manner (e.g. use mixer or coinjoin).

If you plan to use Tor, make sure Bitcoin Core is configured to use Tor,
* If you're only interested to use Tor, check https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/a/70070
* If you're also interested to act as full nodes through Tor hidden service, check https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Setting_up_a_Tor_hidden_service
2407  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Attackers Cryptojacking Docker Images to Mine for Monero on: June 26, 2020, 01:41:41 PM
thank you @NeuroticFish, I tried to find where this file is hidden for Windows user, but from the source the position is not mentioned. Indeed, I have never visited the file mentioned by @OP, but it seems that the information is only in cases, not mentioning where this file is hidden if there are users who download files from azurenql for Windows users. or is this case not / haven't happened to windows users? what steps should be taken if there are similar cases experienced by users? Because, I think it could be if the file was not detected by the antivirus before entering the database, this will be very detrimental to the user who are very new to this matter, also it will be difficult to detect it.

If there's no article from trusted sources (such as popular tech news media or antivirus blog), the easiest way to format your storage and reinstall your OS.

Just double check your machine and keep on refraining from downloading base image from untrusted sites.

I am a Windoze guy and I still run and keep an eye onto a tray icon that shows the CPU usage. Afaik Linux has even better tools for that. I encourage everybody use such tools where possible.
I am not familiar with Docker, but I guess that the CPU usage (and processes) and can be easily monitored on the resulted machine.

I think windows task manager is good enough to see your CPU usage and which application uses your CPU. You don't need tools available for linux since it's overt (rather than covert) attack.
2408  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Seemingly simple hacker tactic yet effective against exchange employees on: June 25, 2020, 02:17:39 PM
Human is always weakest part of security. But the interesting part is the hacker is willing to search employee personal email (rather than work email), where people usually don't take precautions or open it from personal PC which contain all important files.

P.S. Use this BBcode to resize your image

2409  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Privkey burner - what say you? on: June 21, 2020, 11:49:33 AM
Your idea would be useless if the Bitcoiner doesn't manage UTXO manually to prevent linking between addresses and his identity. On practical side, who would take their time to share private key of bitcoin address they no longer use?
2410  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Thoughts regarding use of Rust and Haskell for building a blockchain on: June 18, 2020, 01:50:53 PM
There's a discussion about using Rust for Bitcoin reference implementation at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5192509.0

While i don't know much about Rust and Haskell, AFAIK it'd be hard find developer or contributor who're experienced in Rust rather than C or C++.
2411  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Kindly asking the community to help us test the Evorese.com on: June 17, 2020, 01:00:49 PM
Dear Bitcointalk community,

We recently launched Evorese.com, a decentralized payment portal that shall be combining multiple crypto services in a single place. Kindly ask for a favor to help us test the exchange and share with us any issues you might notice.

Thank you,
Ciprian Filip
Evorese.com Co-Founder

Sorry, but i don't see how your service is categorized as "a decentralized payment portal" when you can decline payment.
2412  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] tumbler.to | Bitcoin Tumbler & Anonymizer | on: June 16, 2020, 08:37:58 AM
So i check your Tor mirror, view page source and surprised when i see this HTML script tag

Code:
    	<!-- Global site tag (gtag.js) - Google Analytics -->
        <script async src="https://www.googletagmanager.com/gtag/js?id=UA-158909121-1"></script>
        <script>
          window.dataLayer = window.dataLayer || [];
          function gtag(){dataLayer.push(arguments);}
          gtag('js', new Date());

          gtag('config', 'UA-158909121-1');
        </script>

Uhm, what is that mean?
It's basically a JS script that allows google to log a bunch of data about your visitors. If you're a website which promotes privacy- it's a bit goofy to embed it.

A bit goody? I'd say it's totally ridiculous when their service promote anonymity and claiming no logs.
2413  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Storing data on the bitcoin blockchain on: June 15, 2020, 07:41:15 AM
Few people with enough money to spare will put information which most likely won't be deleted/censored on blockchain.

I think you're missing the point. I'm not trying to sell the idea of putting data on the blockchain. I'm saying - people (and organizations) are doing it anyway, so why not come up with a standard?

I'm sure i got the point and i never said you're trying to sell your idea.

What i'm opposed is using the idea for trivial case such as transfer file between 2 users (which you mentioned), there are many ways to do it such as IPFS or Tor.
I don't mind if it's used for something really important such as activist / journalist share important information to the world.
2414  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Storing data on the bitcoin blockchain on: June 13, 2020, 11:38:04 AM
There are 3 existing options
1. Use OP_RETURN as much as you need.
2. Store the hash of the data with OP_RETURN and store the data elsewhere. IPFS is common option.
3. Use side-chain or off-chain which offer such feature.

With technical difficulty and high cost, i think only extremely important data (which usually hunted by government) will be stored on Bitcoin these days.

2416  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mixers. Interview 06.2020 on: June 11, 2020, 09:55:42 AM
Nice interview, but it'd be better if you ask hard questions such as :
1. Their views on criminal who use mixer
2. Their thoughts about research to de-anonymize mixers
2417  Other / Meta / Re: [TOP-200] The most generous users giving merits on: June 09, 2020, 08:53:25 AM
thanks for the ranking, I really like to watch ladder

if I can recommend an addition .. it would be nice to know who goes up and who goes down in the ranking compared to the previous month
example
bitbollo, prev month 68th
now is 52th

+16 positions

The ranking isn't relevant, unless we separate merit-sources (including ex. merit-sources) and non merit-source. The generosity score depends on how much merit allocation for each merit-sources and whether they spend all of them or not.
2418  Other / Meta / Re: One merit source has just been demoted? on: June 05, 2020, 09:12:11 AM
Looks like total merit generation is also decreased from 21671 to 21171 (reduced by 500), assuming total merit generation stats at 21671 between tranthidung posts and Blacknavy demotion.

I prefer beef up existing and active MS, but why not both? Some MS might be inactive or less active than usual.
2419  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: [HELP]Bantuan untuk menaikkan Rank (Newbie s.d Hero) V.2 [UPDATE] on: June 04, 2020, 11:34:24 AM
Sedikit saran dari saya

1. Tentang aturan

Contoh,

Quote
@ETFbitcoin tolong review post saya, terima kasih
Quote
Moderator X, Merit Source Y, Legendary Z tolong kasih merit dong

3. Tentang format laporan

Code:
[url]https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5253221.0[/url]
Code:
[url=https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5253221.0][HELP]Bantuan untuk menaikkan Rank (Newbie s.d Hero) V.2 [UPDATE][/url]

2420  Other / Meta / Re: [css][stylus] I need help with this on: June 03, 2020, 12:02:29 PM
If you can use both JavaScript and Regex, you could use Regex to find exact position of member ranks, so you can get member ranks of the poster or even add CSS style within it (since you know start/end position of the member ranks).

Example with badly written regex.

Code:
<div class="smalltext">([A-Za-z ]+)<br>

I tested it on

Code:
<div class="smalltext">Member<br>
<div class="smalltext">Hero Member<br>
