22  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Would i be better off waiting for the 16nm miners? on: October 16, 2015, 05:11:55 PM
I think Bitcoin mining will finally move to 14/16nm at early or mid 2016, in the retail market.

The major barriers for us to move to 14/16nm node are the cost is ~X2 and the manufacture time is ~X2.5 compare to 28nm. This means you spend even more on same THs on the chips, and get them months later. Also, cash before order.

The only benefit is ~30-50% power saving. Do you really think this is worthy?

also, ALL bitcoin chip designs are cell based. This impossible to do a  good "full custom" design in 1or 2years. The word "Full custom" turns into a advertisement words now.

 Undecided

Hello, I'm ngzhang, founder of Avalon ASIC project, CEO of Canaan-Creative Co.,Ltd.

We developed the first ASIC chip for Bitcoin mining and shipped the first mining machine to the community. We are still making efforts in this area.

We will answer anything we know about the current status and trend of mining machines, farm and BTC adoption, etc. See you at the AMA later!

Will do a MM update guide later.
26  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Review of Avalon-4.1 on: March 19, 2015, 09:59:31 AM
I just set the third one up.  I have 2 silver and 1 black now.  I was doing 1070/2025 = 0.528 w/gh

more settings later

1218 watts/2327 = 0.523 watts per gh. on 340:320:300 for freq  and  7375 for volts

Please upgrade to latest MM and Rpi firmware if possible.

I have been doing deep under clocks with my pair of avalon's

while hash rate is much lower with these underclocks I am getting down to .4 watts

this setting is giving me .4 watts a gh .   I need a day of testing, but if I stay consistent I am buying a 3rd unit.   Will post in a bit.

don't forget update to latest firmware (MM and cgminer), we are continue improving.

Good job, trolls.

Quote
In this and next month, we are busying deliver the preorders. Avalon4 moudle will continually have small upgrade in early 2015, 0.3w/GHs on the wall and 0.3$/GHs with margin is a short-term goal.

So if your target is $0.3/gh at 0.3 w/gh, why are you charging $0.7/gh for 0.7w/gh?

Seems this isn't really an attempt to sell to home miners, but an attempt to rip off a few.

0.3W/GH and 0.3$/GH need some technical progress to achive, will cost some time. Now we are offering 0.65W/GH on the wall (this is our average statistical data), high quality, low noise, best customer service, 0.47USD/GH for retail, ... , Avalon4- 1T  4.0 ver.

Also, home miners' demand has collapsed extremely. I think FC didn't lose a lot for recall all of their prism. Even at that price of GH/$, only a few hundred of them soldout. This is a period of  excessive competition.

Good job, trolls.

He said in Q1 2015, new chips. And its $0.5/gh.

It says Avalon4 which is current gen.

And I'm seeing 1.84 btc per unit after including shipping.

Shipping is DHL charging you, not us. We offer free shipping in China mainland. If you order a lot (over 1000KG of Avalon4 1T for example), the shipping cost will lower to 30USD/unit to US by air.  Or you can use a 3rd party to handle the delivery.

I know there are a number of instock products on the market with better $/GHs on pricing. This is their blood, no more bloodsucking form us.  Sorry.

This says it all, don't buy from these guys. They want to suck your blood not the other way around.

Actually, the stiuation is  clear.

Large mining company are quiting retail market . After they have earn money, find cheap elec, finish farm building, etc..

Others are doing clearance sale. Trans their stock to cash,  finding cheap elec and building their own farm. Leave retail market at last.

Now it's ~300PH online, over 50% is in China mainland and over 85% is in large farms.

Good job, trolls.

What happened to no preorders?

This is in stock, shipping from hand?

Quote
For retail, no pre-orders form 1 year ago.

We only sell in-stock products for retail more than 1 year.

Pre-order is for large orders . It's hard to immediately ship a large amount of  miners unless have a big private farm.

So I think now is a very good time for personal famers. 90%+ of miner company close down and others are struggling to sell their backlog at a big lose, this year.

Avalon switch to build-to-(large)order model few months ago, we have no large backorders now. And we only sell products with margin, even it is really small. For retail, no pre-orders form 1 year ago.

We have confident for the product cost of $/GHs. Now our major work is next gen ASIC design, large scale mining farm design, mining management system development, supply chain management, etc..

So, what do you want to know?  Smiley

Why the chips were late and people lost millions in the process?  Wink
What did Yifu do to cause the chip delay?
How can anyone be sure that you won't screw over customers like that again?
Why should anyone buy your new units when they will not be profitable?

Why kids are still on this declined forum? Wink

Hi ngzhang,

where is my trade-in units? And where is my lancelot which have been sent to you?

All paid unit shipped. Others has been no responses our inquiry email.

All trade-in FPGA boards has been destroyed.

ngzhang, you're lying. We have tried to contact you so many times to your email. we have never been able to get a feed back. The 陈旭宜 guy has the records, but we do not receive a single miner at all.

It is not that important for me whether I have those miners now at all. But the feeling of being scammed is really bad. I have purchased the lancelot from the market at very high price, as we believe in your promise. I will bring this to public and aware people of this history whenever I see you post or speak.

The whole process is automatically finished by system, I manually checked all records, all inquiry mail has been sent at least 5 times. Do you think it's safe for me to consider these people abandoned their right?
Most of tradein customers paid and received their tradein units. As a result, I don't think this is our fault.

Furthermore, do you ask for compensate in this thread?

http://bbs.canaan-creative.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=204&extra=&page=1

Additional information:

~250 tradein FPGA boards received, over 170 AvalonGen1 tradein units shipped. ~80 never respond.

Who knows how many FPGA you have shipped out. We include four persons, and none of them have received anything, or a single word from you.

Even those who have received your "trade-in" received it at very late time, when the gen-1 Avalon at the risk of losing money. You are a liar, ngzhang. Now for me it is already a shit to get your so called compensation, it is such a small money for me now. But I will never forget the emotional feeling of uncertainty and being scammed. You ignored our email asking about the trade-in. We even tried to call xiangfu to ask about the trade-in. You did not respond. You are so self centered.

You have cheated the community. You let people buy the batch 2 and batch 3, as well as chip pre-order. Then you let the wafers which has almost finished on the TSMC production line. Then you guys use some left wafers and chips to build your own mining farm, as you knew well that the batch 3 and chips will dilute your marketing share of the hashing speed. You have mined so greedy and let your batch 3 buyer suffer a lose.

We hate you, ngzhang.

P.S., where the YIFU is fucking around these days?

haha,

Are you a masochism? You just did a detailed description for if Avalon project is operate by you right?  Don't forget to change the project name to Bitmain or Antminer or something like that please, you make me fell sick.

Yes,

A man you called self centered liar never sell a single units or chips to the market when it's at 30 times market prices compare to initial. .
A man you called self centered liar never setup his own mining farm.
A man you called self centered liar refused any bribe for queue jumping.
A man you called self centered liar gave up his life, working day and night, only 31 years old but already greying at the temples .

HorseRider, I know who are you. Anything you can do had no effect on the epic of Avalon project. We are one of the makers of Bitcoin history, and you're only a jerk.

Here is a general thread for owners of Avalon Gen2 (A3255) and Avalon Gen3 ASIC (e.g. A3233) miners.

On account of big difference between new MM (Miner manager) based Avalon Gen2 & Gen3 miners and old Gen1 miners, I decide to open a new user thread.

For old Avalon Gen1 & Gen2 ASIC, Please refer to previous thread:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=140539.0

This thread is primarily for Avalon self-made miners,  but any other thrid-party clone miner users are still welcome.

ngzhang

Party of one it seems Smiley Not so many users. Good job!

 Wink

yep, will post some introduction first.

For new MM based avalon2 designs, we shipped ~10K gen2.5 modules until now, but most of them are in domestic.  Maybe this forum is not famous enough for Chinese users.

After switch all sales tasks to ehash.com, I think I should put more time on this forum again.
