81  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer R4 - Wrong chip index on: January 20, 2017, 07:39:08 AM
Hash PCB is probably damaged.

Any mod or self attempt repair may result in warranty denial tho.  Just be careful.  To be safe for warranty, when the unit does not recover with simple power off power on, or testing with already announced trouble shooting method then start warranty process or repair process be the safest way.

We do see many "eye opening" hash pcb and control module send in for repair that were previously self attempted and that process caused more damages than it fixed the problems.

I've got an R4 which will not mine, the system boots and it seems that when the auto frequency script runs it hits an error and can't proceed.

Kernel log-

Miner fix freq ...
Fatal Error: DownOneChipFreqOneStep Chain[-1] has Wrong chip index=7893959

Here's the code-

if(max_freq_chipIndex<0)
   {
      sprintf(logstr,"Fatal Error: DownOneChipFreqOneStep Chain[%d] has Wrong chip index=%d\n",max_freq_chipIndex);
      writeInitLogFile(logstr);
      while(1)sleep(1);

Any ideas?

I've rebooted and power cycled a number of times, re-flashed the firmware - tested with another know good PSU. I've logged a ticket with Bitmain but thought perhaps someone on here had seem this issue before and may have a fix. I thought it would be unlikely for both hash boards to be faulty.

***edit - I think https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1741088.0 is the same problem.

My testing has concluded I have a dead hash board - miner is now functional with just a single board connected.

Amazon is more strict than Ebay.  Amazon uses customer is always right approach.  Refund/Chargeback/Dispute they accept even after 180 days and amazon will flat out tell you (display in appeal page) its not likely that seller will win dispute.  Thats why Amazon, many seller comes and see high retail price thinking better profit, then realized you are so deep into the red after a few disputes a few months into it.

Amazon has so many different programs for the seller tho.
83  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: December 25, 2016, 09:00:35 AM
Repair cost is different on each case due to what is broken.  If you busted the ASIC it will not be cheap.  Most are in the range of $25-$250 range depend on what is broken and how many items are broken.  some are getting free repair if those unfortunate ones that experienced manufactures defect be repaired with just the return shipping, however, those are very rare as most damaged hash PCB are user caused or environment related damages.

Also, if unit was aquired from bitmainwarranty.com warranty work is all performed locally in USA, Russia, Ukraine and Venezuela and some are cross shipped based on the nature of the damages.  (user caused damages vs defect)
84  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: December 04, 2016, 09:40:50 AM
if it was sent to BitmainWarranty.com in USA, Russia, and Ukraine, 30 days of workmanship guarantee.

if repaired item was broken within 30 days of shipout date from BitmainWarranty.com  please email support@bitmainwarranty.com with your original repair ticket number and description and if possible screenshot of "Miner Status"

*It does not mean you can Over Clock for the 30 days after the repair and all broken asic be replaced for free again...

how long is the second repair warranty for the s9 hashboard? its been sent for repair but now suddenly is not working, xxxx xxxx xxxx shown. Batch 13 no good....
85  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: November 23, 2016, 10:30:26 AM
for those of you wandering if this is the auto tune version.  This pic seems to be a stock 14TH model.  so it will be set to hash at 650M frequency by the firmware.

Has anyone tried the firmware from 11-19? I'm giving it a shot on one machine right now. Curious how it is working for others?

Fan speed is much better handled for me - slight variations in speed, gently ramped, instead of the bang-bang controller in the previous autotune FWs.

Seeing much lower reported temps (~10C lower) but I haven't dug into whether that is just a cosmetic change or a change in setpoint for target temp.

Hashrate is good - 13.904avg over 3025 hours on a batch 1 set to 650MHz (theoretical speed 14.004):

Solar panel can be used as long as it can supply you steady 1600W range to be plenty for 1 S9.
but steady power feed is needed to keep the miner up and running.

Can anybody tell me if the Antminer S9 can run on solar power .Huh Smiley .

http://www.tatapowersolar.com/#

i can install and let my miner run on it.

i can ask the company to let me know how many hours of power supply it will provide.

That way i can get free electricity and don't have to worry about the power costs.
87  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: My antminer S1 doesn't start mining on: November 22, 2016, 01:04:04 AM
Problem is S1 is not able to communicate to NTPD server.  Please check your network setting to allow traffics to and from NTPD server back to S1

Very 1st Post mid-way through.  NTPD trouble shooting info there!

88  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Need Antminer S9-B10 original firmware (july 11) new FW doesnt work on: November 22, 2016, 01:01:21 AM
If you are getting connection refused error, that mean, the hash PCB is still initializing.  You may have 1 damaged or degraded hash PCB mixed in the unit.

You may want to hash 1 hash PCB at a time and see if all 3 works as separate hash PCB or if there is a bad one in the mix, beofore downgrade it to the older firmware.

Hello, if any body can help me, I flash the new firmware from bitmain for the S9 (Antminer-S9-all-201611190345-autofreq-user.tar) but it doesn work, it shows "Socket connect failed: Connection refused", I already let it for an hour and nothing, I need the original version, according to my other miners is the one from july 11, like in the next picture, thanks!

89  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Recovering Coins on: November 21, 2016, 06:19:40 AM
Please message    eleuthria  and he be the best person to answer this for you!  He tried to get message out to as many people as he could to notify of the pool closure.  Also, how to withdraw or request for withdraw.   I think he even asked Bitcoin related media to run stories.  (or media just picked it up to spread the news)

Welcome Back to wherever your country is, wish you a good luck!!  (but if he can not get you the withdraw, you can't really blame him tho...)

90  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: NiceHash multi-algorithm SOLO mining pool [BTC/LTC/DASH blocks found!] on: November 21, 2016, 06:15:27 AM
sorry,

the bottom portion was cut off....

Found Block stats probably came from the alt coin mining at NiceHash.  (If you did not intentionally change the frequency to 600M, you may have upgraded the wrong version of the firmware, please check!!)
91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: NiceHash multi-algorithm SOLO mining pool [BTC/LTC/DASH blocks found!] on: November 21, 2016, 02:41:11 AM
45 chips model frequency should be 700M not 600m  lower the frequency, lower the hash rate

Can someone pls explain this to me ? how reliable is the antminer backend ?

92  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Can't login to Antminer s9's. on: November 20, 2016, 06:14:31 AM
were you able to login?
93  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: November 17, 2016, 02:20:53 AM
If you can ship it cheaper to Ukraine in a very good protected packaging.  (5-6 times bubble wrap and place in a big box with enough bubbles or popcorns)

it can be diagnosed for repair and it can be returned to you

Please email request to support@bitmainwarranty.com   you will be assigned a ticket number for the repair request case!

Hi guys,

I was hoping it would not happen to me, but I got a broken S9 blade.
Shows up only 16 asics and will not mine, using another port on the controller, same problem with the board on the other ports.
However I do not have warranty any more, I still would this board get repaired.
I know about Bitmainwarranty but it is the US, is there a repair service in the EU?
Some here have (too bad) maybe good experience shipping for repair...

94  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: November 17, 2016, 02:14:13 AM
Chain 2 wise, it is not missing, data port you are connected to is 1 3 and 4

hash rate wise, may have to try power it off. then power it back on.  if that did not fix it, please try the newest firmware November 8.  (if your firmware version has fan control, this will take that option away)

One option is to reset the current firmware on your S9 first, before attempt any firmware upgrade to the newer version.

Hello,

I Have B2 S9, so it should be hashing 12.9 TH/s but for the past 7 days one of the boards (chain 4) is not hashing as fast as it should... Any ideas?

ATM it is hashing around 10.5 TH/s

BTW why am I missing chain #2? Never noticed this before...

Thanks

95  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: What is the difference between antminer S9 and between antminer S9+ on: November 12, 2016, 09:13:18 PM
SCAM!!!  BE CAREFUL!!

What is the difference between antminer S9 and between antminer S9+

When you follow the latest news from the mining equipment read online on your antminer S9+ as the latest version of the mining machinery

When you attempt to view it more and found very little information about the device, which raises doubts about this device, but after more research and communicate with the relevant companies concluded the following:
The device antminer S9 + does not exist, never out of Oujda and there is no company has already issuing this device curb this moment (this information is obtained from the competent company in antminer devices which bitmain company) Does this mean, however, that this device is a scam ??

When viewed more on this topic and found that Sapphire Company and KNC Edited on antminer normal S9 and put back on the market does this mean that this scam from previous companies ??

We tried to buy the device from one of the sites and we compare antminer S9 device to know the difference between the two devices was the difference is as follows:
Price: For a antminer S9 Price = $ 1,900 and a antminer S9+ = 3800
Electricity consumption: it was antminer S9 device consumes 2x antminer S9+
Maintain the strength of mining: We've got a paper inside the device from the manufacturer ensure the preservation of mining force for 5 years

This makes it already exists a previous specifications but a different name, which is that this name is not the correct name was launched this name by some of the professionals in this field and the reason for that plus a name that contains extra features on the previous device.

Advice from an expert:
When you want to buy any device Mining choosing your electricity consumption by a few Qom and the reason for this difficulty that the mining every day, which means getting all that electricity consumption was less Ka What was your profit higher

PCB repair is also available
98  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: November 11, 2016, 04:50:38 AM
USA, Russia, Ukraine, Iceland and other limited service location are primary repairing the original item send in as the priority, however, if the damages are extensive but repairble, to reduce the mining time loss, the repair cost estimate be issued based on the actual damages but the replacement PCB may be send out to you to save a few days.

Main goal is to return the same PCB the customer send in.  Also, if we do ship out the replacement, BitmainWarranty.com will offer 30-day limited service guarantee (workmanship guarantee) on the item or retain the original warranty duration of the unit whichever the longest.

Usually, bad S9 hash PCB can be repaired and ship back to the customer the same day or the next business day.  (common duration be 1-3 days but the main backlog be after the repair is confirmed, the time delay while the customer service rep wait for the payment from the customers.  Item will not be send out until the payment is received in full.)  Some occasion, notification email seem to end up in the Spam folder of the customers.  Other few days delay from customer opening the new ticket (sometimes with a different email address inquiring the same repair on another ticket number)

99  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Be careful: BITMAIN ANTMINERS have NO WARRANTY and after-sales customer service on: November 02, 2016, 09:29:51 PM
Just a thought.

It caught on my eye.  You said you have to comp your customers.  Are these shipment that you are having problem, you are providing 3rd party resell and diagnostic and repair for the customer and then whatever that you can't fix or trouble shoot, be send back to Hong Kong?

Are these being used in Germany or elsewhere?

Local Repair Service (paid) is available in USA, Russia and Ukraine, Iceland and Serbia. (Limited Service)
100  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My warranty adventure with my s-9. on: October 31, 2016, 09:43:08 PM
30 days of workmanship is provided, or remainder of the original warranty term on your S9 whichever the longest

Repair cost on PCB can be $0 to the cost of the PCB depends on what is being broken.  Some received $0 repair as it was manufacture's defect and very few required PCB replacement at full price.  If you bust several ASIC chips, they will not be cheap.

Looking for a better way to lower the cost to all in general but everything in USA has costs.

HI Guys,

To ship item for repair, No Paperwork filling is needed, HOWEVER, please email support@bitmainwarranty.com the item description and what is wrong with it.

You will receive an email reply with the Ticket Number to include in the package to Denver for the repair.  Paid Repair is available for any Antminer users.
