321  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Blockchain.info wallet problem on: December 09, 2014, 09:36:12 PM
I just went to my blockchain wallet and A) My bitcoin weren't there to use and B) There was the following message,
A security issue affects your account please archive it and contact support

Since then, someone else has sent me a payment to the wallet address and although it's in the blockchain with 15 confirmations it's not in my wallet  Undecided
I've contacted support as requested but not been answered yet.......anyone clever than me know what may have  happened?
I know they announced they had a security issue in the last 36 hours where 0.0002% of users were affected....Would it be that perhaps?
Are Blockchain holding my bitcoin?
 Huh

They got frigged yesterday, a bunch of wallets compromised.  They also said they are reimbursing missing coins. Check reddit someone posted a list of effected addresses.

326  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Foundation: Oppose trademark of "Bitcoin" on clothing on: December 09, 2014, 02:52:38 AM
It's a tough call.

Nobody owns bitcoin.

And I successfully registered a trademark akin to:  BaseballTalk recently.

Can't get more generic and "previously used" than that.  It got approved, because of what I was planning to use it for.  Which was unique.

In the event that a trademark was granted, how does that change the process for opposition had in been filed prior?

328  Economy / Economics / Re: Dollar coming to an end on: December 09, 2014, 01:24:03 AM
Interesting article and claims I think the guy isn't very intelligent though.

I don't see the dollar coming to an end for at least another 70+ years.  The claims the guy making are based on history which isn't a terrible thing to base it on.  But judging from 70 years ago today the world is a completely different place and anything related to money then holds little value to what we have today.

Absolutely.  As cryptocurrencies show their potential we might see an integration, but I don't think the dollar is going anywhere for a while.
329  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Did the police fuck up here? on: December 09, 2014, 12:43:06 AM
Sometimes the police do good things. When terrorists kidnapped the Jewish athletes in the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, it was the police officers who risked their lives to save them. They failed to save them, but I think most people would agree that the fact they tried makes their actions good and heroic.

But then, I see stuff like this:

"Waiuku Police went to an address looking for someone in relation to not completing community work. As a result we arrested a 44 year old male for having drug related pipes on him in the bedroom. This was not the person we were after, but I suppose you could say was a bonus."

What do you think? Do you think they were justified in this occasion? If someone has a couple of marijuana pipes and isn't causing anyone harm then I see no reason why they should be harassed like this. Huh

Police always fuck up

330  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Joe Rogan Experience #581 - Andreas Antonopoulos on: December 06, 2014, 07:35:41 AM
Creepy intro but i have watched it already, was a good watch always enjoy andreas explaining things.

The way he talks about Bitcoin technology is really encouraging, always like watching him talk on podcasts and publicly, feel like I learn something new every time.  Glad he's the first Bitcoin encounter for a lot of people so they don't go into it blind of it's complete potential.

332  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: Accepting Bitcoin in Indonesia on: December 06, 2014, 06:34:51 AM
Hey all, I'm Dutch so excuse me for using English, but my Bahasa Indonesia is only slightly better than non existent. Wink
I'm in Yogyakarta right now and was trying to set up a charity so they could accept Bitcoin donations, but apparently Bitpay doesn't offer the option of exchanging to Rupiah. What is the best way to accept Bitcoin in Indonesia? What options are there?

Thanks in advance!

Hey there! I have not gotten a chance to filter countries for international function, but here's a bit of a list of merchant checkout providers - http://yocrypto.ca/category/crypto-currency-merchant-payment-solutions/bitcoin-point-of-sale-checkout/ Hope this helps, best of luck with your search!

On second thought, Coinpayments should work I think.

Hey! Found some merchants around Indonesia using http://bitwyre.com/! Best of luck with everything!

335  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Tigerdirect.ca Bait n Switch SHENNANIGANS ! on: December 05, 2014, 04:56:43 AM
All I can say is I made some purchases on tigerdirect before, and regretted it very much.

Gez, quite bar reviews in here, glad i haven't gone with them.  What issues did you have?

Just to name a few:
1. Overpriced merchandise, pricier than amazon most of the time. Slow shipping.
2. Looong wait on customer service calls. F'd up internal computer system.
3. No cash or check refund for btc purchases, only store credit or tigerdirect gift card, very unfavorable terms.
4. You'll have to call them to check balance or place order if you want to use this credit.
5. Hard sell on overpriced warranty if you need to use your "credit".
...

Good to know! I hate when bitcoin is accepted by sub par businesses.   They should be in here taking notes.

337  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The transaction fee is just ridiculous. on: December 05, 2014, 02:11:40 AM
Ok. Everyone is talking about it.

It's the $82,432,657.90 transaction that cost $0.04 to send.
Well I guess this certainly proves that the OP does not know what he was talking about.

I don't think there is any other payment method that allows for such a large transaction to take place at the same (or lower) cost

I think there is one...and one only.  Cash. And that would be a shit ton of it, not to mention transporting it to the destination.. security... nevermind.
338  Other / Archival / Re: World's Largest Bitcoin Project Now Seeking Venture Capital on: December 05, 2014, 12:07:10 AM
So in closing, I hope this post shed some light on the topic but I would kindly ask you not to reply.

Very sincerely,
not reply?!  - ha -- Fuck you! That would be stupid.

Do you think I am going to let you publish a huge list of misinformation and conclude with: 'don't reply'?  Why can you put forth your bullshit, and others are expected to stay silent?  Let me answer: it is because you are a troll cybersquatter who sits on domain names and tries to extract money from people who actually are building nice internet businesses.  Domain name squatting isn't clever.  The spirit of the whole thing is quite bad.  It arises only from a mere quirk in the registration rules and trademark laws.  The nature of what you are doing is corrupt and foul.  You are a pig.

Go learn to write some code and build something nice for bitcoin rather than sitting around trying to swipe thousands from people just because you ran to the registration desk before they did.

Lost interest in the largest Bitcoin project in the world after

  • Visiting a website that doesn't even have a logo that renders correctly.
  • Listening to you tell the people you're asking funding for, how to conduct themselves when they communicate. Have yet to see another organization call the people they seek funding from "appalling".

Best of luck in your extraordinary project.

Renderings aside, hence my take echoing yours. Like we need more Zerlans in the Bitcoin community.  Roll Eyes

Probably dumb comment of the day, lol, what is a Zerlan? Googled it and cannot seem to find...

Huh?Huh?

OK, this is a Josh Zerlan: http://www.butterflylabs.com/management-view/josh-zerlan-3/
Some have actually called it as a virus for Bitcoin but unfortunately that hasn't been confirmed yet, so we do NOT know for certainty  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

May I ask if your intergalactic travel here was comfortable?
(Sorry don't want to sound like an ass - which I probably do - but I can NEVER be a bigger ass than who?Huh)

Ahhh, I see, haha thanks for the laugh.  Is Butterfly Labs still operational? Seems like quite the shady operation, I haven't really seen any specifics other than they defaulted over half of the orders?

Yes they are still ripping people off AFAIK.
Though I could be wrong.
I haven't really spent any money on them but I have been following their "progress"...

Yeah, a person loses to much time and money if you were to follow ALL of the scams circulating unfortunately. Although if what I recall is correct, BFL is running a sham, not sure how they're in operation still unless someone took over?
339  Economy / Service Announcements / Hey guys & gals, meet Bit Benefits on: December 05, 2014, 12:00:36 AM
    http://thebestbitcoindeals.com/

    Hey Bitcoin,

After a few surveys and poking around the community (+ a little unemployment....vacation  Roll Eyes), i think there's a large portion of us that are still not Bitcoin Consumers per sey, shop with Bitcoin, or have found enough value to use Bitcoin for daily shopping purposes.

Happy to share with you today a new project, Bit Benefits.  A service to connect Bitcoin holders with value, and a place with plenty of reason to use Bitcoin for purchases instead of traditional payments.

Basically, a discount place for businesses to connect with Bitcoin consumers that is easy to navigate by type retail or website, and categorically.  In order to achieve this the posts are separated:

    Offer Type
    “Item Discounts”
    “Service Discounts”
    “Store-wide Discounts”
    “Special Offers”
    “Shipping Deals”

    Category
Categorized with subcategories which I am working on at the moment. They are definitely not 100% complete, but I am hoping to hear from the community what can be added (Hard to cover areas you’re not familiar with!)

    Type of Purchase
    -Retail (Print coupons)
    -Ecommerce (Coupon Codes)
-Other… not sure, but you never know.

-Will be adding location based searches in the near future when there is enough retail locations up, but for now, the browse and all of the search pages with a coupon showing it's location has a toggle MAP button, which pops up a big Google Maps widget to show retail locations!

    ---

    Each free listing includes
    Free listings!

30 Day listing in 1 category
    3 Uploads
Visitor counter so you can monitor how many people have seen it
Google Maps listing if you need it

Also, the front page will hold things such as “Editors picks” and Seasonal features, “Boxing Week” which will put your free add on the front page.

-At the moment “STORES” are manually inputted, and will be added as Brands and Stores pop up with multiple coupons.  Members will get a store made right away.

-Multiple free listings are NOT ALLOWED! They ARE ENCOURAGED!  Share your discounts! If you’re giving 10% off and free shipping with bitcoin purchases, make 2 listings, one for the 10% off, one for the free shipping!  This is not spam, it’s easier for people to find your discounts.

-ALL listings are 30 days. Why? This is the easiest way to ensure a steady stream of unique content.  The option is available at the end of your listing to “renew” as well.

-Visitors using the service can sign up for automatic category updates.  When a coupon is uploaded, they will receive an email, it’s pretty cool!

    Short term plans -
    -weekly blog
    -make pop out coupons nicer
    -Bi-weekly newsletter
-Improve navigation in categories and on posts
    -Timed auctions
    -Limited edition Coupons
-In house deals for members using discounts
-rewards for people posting good crypto deals that are valid[/li][/list]

That’s all for now! I really hope everyone finds use in the site.  This is the trial period but it would be cool to see some deals and discounts up!
All of the coupons currently running are examples will be expiring in the next 24 hours.

If you own a business, feel free to post a coupon right away, or if you happen to know of awesome coupons that are open to the public, feel free to post them up to share with the community.

Feedback on ANYTHING and EVERYTHING  is greatly appreciated, I really want this to help bring consumers and merchants together, anything that can be fixed will be taken into account right meow! It's my job to make sure people are visiting the site and using these coupons, submit your listing and let me take care of your marketing.
