lol, I haven't ever seen those 2 blended together until now. My appologies.

the domain being registered with Zhou's company...
what are you talking about, it's registered with namecheap.

My turds don't always float, so it's an analogy that doesn't even work in the first place.

Vanitygen supports file output without any commandline hacks - just use -o file.txt and it will write to a file. If you use the -i arg, it will be case-insensitive, and -k will keep generated results and keep running to find more. By default, it stops after finding one match.

so if gavin gave the CIA that key. then the cia could corrupt the blockchain whenever they want? or at least make a malicious bitcoin client "update"
The functionality is just for messaging, it can't force an update or anything like that. Worst that I think could happen is they send a message that shows at the bottom of the client window that says the client needs to be upgraded because of a security problem. But then, they would also have to create a bogus update, get it signed with a DIFFERENT key that is used for software releases, and upload it to github/sourceforge without being detected. It would be difficult and complicated to pull off.

This sounds great. If any of them are coders, NMC could use a little work. Browser plugins to integrate with namecoind would be excellent, especially if they supported certificate checking in the NMC blockchain.

There is no master key. That would make it all worthless.
The "master key" in this case is the key that is used to sign messages that get broadcast to all nodes, for instance to warn of a security vulnerability. As far as I know, that particular key isn't used for anything else, but I'm not sure of that. There is no such of that kind of master key, either. That was only a proposal discussed a couple years ago that never went anywhere. It's been used several times. If you install an old client, you will see a warning at the bottom that says that it is insecure and needs to be updated. That warning message is actually stored in the blockchain.

I thought casascius was being helpful. Is there some other history here?
In any case, if you find someone posting in a thread of yours and giving you unwanted advice, thank them for their help and move on. Your customers will see a pleasant and polite vendor that they'll be happy to deal with, and the objectionable post will soon be lost in history.
This +1. Unless there is something factually incorrect, just let it be buried.

Bought and received the original extenders rjk offered, quick delivery and well packed.

Thanks for the feedback. 3 x1-to-x16 cables still available, would prefer to ship all to one buyer.

Bugger. I was hoping that MagicalTux had actually given them access to his validation server, but this is less than ideal.

Damn. I was hoping that it would be an actual OTP, instead of something that is vulnerable to a replay attack.

I'm not sure where "breaker" comes into it, but "necrobumping" refers to posting in very old threads and bringing them to the top again. It is generally unnecessary; a new topic should be started with a link to the old one.

Simple solution is don't fucking bother with that shit, and trade the USD mtgox codes with someone else for Dwolla. Only problem is that you might run into liquidity issues there, unless you want to pay a fee.

Interesting that someone mentioned pooled mining, since I didn't think of that. Wonder if you can tell how many blocks have been spent exactly one times and then haven't moved after that?

Negative - they are even actively cooled...
I had 6 plugged into a power strip. I turned off the power strip and when i turned it back on 2 of the 6 made a pop sound and now 1 of my singles (that was plugged into the offending unit) is not working (will not "show up" when plugged into USB).
Time to put the claims of a fast RMA process to the test!
