1941  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poll. UASF or Segwit2x? on: July 15, 2017, 10:45:22 AM
UASF have small support from miners while SegWit2x testnet failed few days ago which makes few SegWit2x and both of them don't have big support from bitcoin community.
I like UASF since they have better idealism, but SegWit2x also increase blocksize to 2MB which we need right now, so i prefer SegWit2x.

So basically, USAF has to hit at least 21% to stop the 80% on segwit2 right?

aren't these 2 at different times?
i mean we are sure that UASF of BIP148 is set for Aug 1
but i think SegWit2x is set to start signalling in mid Aug (or July 21) i am not so sure, the news about SegWit2x has always been filled with a lot of drama instead of real discussions!
edit: never mind i got off my lazy ass and googled it Cheesy
according to segwit2x.github.io i am correct about July 21

this can easily mean a fail for UASF because of lack of support and possibly switching to support the other proposal and get a 100% support!
1942  Economy / Speculation / Re: My first short :o on: July 15, 2017, 10:36:25 AM

Try PascalLite and Pascalcoin and you will see the scaling that you are looking for. Its not only bitcoin. There are more.
PascalLite https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1773026.340
I'm very skeptic that this kind of scalability I'm looking for has already been reached since January and yet it's not been announced everywhere, but I'll take a look later. If you have some time to spare, could you tell me (in few paragraphs) how does PascalLite achieve it? Or link me to a paper? Almost 19 hours since I woke up, so my brain is not in the mood to search for it right now.

i would love to hear it also but my first assumption whenever i hear a name of a new altcoin out of the blue which is claiming to be "fixing the scaling issue" is that they are trying to pump it to make money. and you'd be surprised how many of these altcoins i have seen so far Cheesy

afterall the biggest one that literary everyone has heard about is called ETH and we saw how their "claims to fix the scaling issue" failed with a simple surge of transactions and the whole network of it shut down completely!

now i said i am interested in hearing about it because i am always interested in seeing new technologies and how they innovate. but i would not believe it until it is put to test. and that means processing a large number of transactions for a good amount of time an not failing horribly..
1943  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cause of Bitcoin Drop (7/14/2017) on: July 15, 2017, 10:25:27 AM
this is the big bitcoin shakedown before the big rise.
soon August will come and go and whales who have bought in this period under market price will be the ones making the biggest profit of all times when price goes to $3000+

if you want to sell then it is already too late.

if you want to buy it is a good time. but to be sure it is best to wait a little more but watch the price closely. anything below 2K is a no brainier.

and be careful about altcoins, they are mostly at the end of their line and everyone is getting off their train and back to fiat in order to get ready to jump in bitcoin train when it starts up again.
1944  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: need a Advice on: July 15, 2017, 10:20:02 AM
Which crypto currency is best during segwit2x ?
if SegWit2x goes through it will be a soft fork with the majority of hashrate behind it (>90%) and that means only bitcoin is the best for that time because price will go up fast.

Quote
why Ethereum is dropping ? it should be more high now because of bitcoin situation
there are many reasons for it, mostly because it is a crappy altcoin with nothing to offer. a bad and bloated blockchain and expensive everything and it is full of bugs and has a worse scaling issue than bitcoin or any other altcoins.

but also it is because it was in a huge bubble and all the ICO scams it was involved with are slowly showing their effects.

on top of all that altcoins drop whenever bitcoin drops.

Quote
anyway , I dont want to sell my bitcoins to local currency, which other crypto is best during this time
if you are afraid of losing money then sell for local currency. any altcoin you invest in will probably fall very hard.

if you insist i can only think of one altcoin: Litecoin which has been performing very well so far.
1945  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: i think "bitcoin unlimited" is better than segwit. on: July 14, 2017, 09:26:44 AM
based on your post history i can clearly see that you have very little understanding of anything regarding any cryptocurrency. whether it is their price or technical aspects. which is why what you think is of no significance.

and on top of that saying "i think ...." is meaningless unless you have valid reasons (which don't exist by the way).
1946  Other / Meta / Re: image test on: July 14, 2017, 09:12:14 AM
first of all the link you posted is not an image link. it is a link to the page containing the image, yo should post the link ending in .jpg or .png or the format in general.

secondly you are a brand new account, and a lot of features are disabled for you until you rank up 1 level.

also move this to the board called meta, there is a button at the bottom of the page for moving.

edit:
there you go:

1947  Economy / Speculation / Re: My bitcoin speculation for August... Only rise is possible... on: July 14, 2017, 09:08:39 AM
if price can keep up being above $2000 until August 1 or at least until things become clearer about who supports what for real as we get closer to that date, i can see a big rise happening.

Why not even if it falls below? bitcoin went from $1700 to $3000 in a few months so that's not the problem. But tbh I'm hoping for the price to drop as much as it can.

mostly because i don't think the chances of going below $2000 are that high. but i am not denying it may be possible either.
but also i said it because if price falls below $2000 to something like $1600-$1700 the recovery is going to be very hard and it will take a much longer time to first break the previous support which is now a resistance. so the big rise will be delayed in case of a bigger drop.
1948  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy crypto or buy a mining contract? on: July 14, 2017, 08:59:07 AM
the answer is obvious: buy bitcoin (not crypto) Cheesy

mining contract or cloud mining or relying on someone else to mine instead of you with your money and pay you peanuts in return is never a good idea because that someone is a scammer in 90% of the times and the rest of the time it is not profitable at all.

so it is best to buy bitcoin instead, directly and make profit by holding or trading it. you can then diversify into some altcoins if you think that is a good option but don't do it with more than 20% of your total in my opinion.
1949  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do I have to move on to other alt coins? (e.g. edgeless..) on: July 12, 2017, 10:55:15 AM
Investing in altcoins is ok for me BUT as long it was invested on top coins in coinmarketcap. Do not invest in not so known coins or shall we say shitcoins. You will lose there. But, why not hold your bitcoin as for the moment? After this drama I think everything will be back to normal and even gain high.

just being on top of the market cap list does NOT mean they are a good investment. and it certainly does NOT mean they are not shitcoins.
there are curretnly at least a couple of shitcoins among the top 10 coins in market cap.
and also from the top 20 i can only see 1 or 2 altcoins like LTC that are worth investing and the rest are terrible investments right now because they are getting dumped hard.
1950  Economy / Economics / Re: Let's have a serious talk about high risks. on: July 12, 2017, 10:43:04 AM
All these coins are in the green. Except by the hour

look at the bigger picture not just a color on a number on a list then you understand if it is really a good high risk to invest in these coins or a dumb high risk.

i suggest looking at their charts instead, the charts tell you a lot of things. for example you can easily see a dead, no action, no volume, no price rise for years and a sudden rise in past month (hence the green number there). and that means it was a one time thing and won't happen again for a long time.
1951  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do males make up 97% of the Bitcoin community? on: July 12, 2017, 10:32:50 AM
since coin.dance doesn't explain anything about how they have gotten this stats, like saying what was their study group, what was the method, how many is the total of that group (since it is just percentages), ... i am going to say this is completely inaccurate.

it just says google analytics. which i believe means they used search terms. in other words how many male search for bitcoin keyword! that is not really a reliable stat in my opinion

by the way this is the direct link: https://coin.dance/stats/gender

Yes, cause if we simply use our eyes and brains we clearly see way more than 3% female devs and early adopters.   Roll Eyes

Political correctness has stupified an entire generation - even in the face of hard OBVIOUS facts.

i am not saying the 97% is 100% wrong.
i am saying the method used to come up with that number is flawed so the result is not reliable even if it is true by any chance. scientifically speaking Wink

1954  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If all the FUD is about Bitcoin split, why Altcoins are falling? lol on: July 11, 2017, 11:11:26 AM
This market is completely irrational, can't use common sense to figure it out at all. Panic selling spreads like wildfire across all coins

actually not completely irrational!
there is some logic in there too.

it is not all panic selling it is the fake pumps. you are missing the point that any price is a value and a value comes from utilities and when there are no utilities there shouldn't be a value.

and when that happens prices become fake, become unstable and drop fast. people have been investing in many of the altcoins with the hope that one of them becomes as big as bitcoin. they thought they were early adopters like the investors in 2009-2010 of bitcoin. but when they face the reality they give up and dump. hence the price drops all over the altcoin market.
1955  Economy / Speculation / Re: Preparing for the BIG FEAST! on: July 11, 2017, 11:03:10 AM
Feast?
You call the destruction of a revolutionary network and its ecosystem a feast?
You realize recovery is extremely unlikely with the complete chaos that is coming.... maybe a small bounce but after that its finished, just as i predicted so long ago.

Here he is kwukduck again. This is a signal to get ready and buy. He will start spreading FUD again and encourage us to sell every coin we have "because Bitcoin is dead" as long as the price is falling.

I guess you should be the last to say that

A little over a year ago (or was it in fact less than a year ago?) you were preaching yourself that Bitcoin price would never rise over 600 dollars per coin (well, not until the end of 2016). Now you seem to have changed your stance? If you have, it may turn out that you shouldn't. I'm not very familiar with this dude's prophecies (though I think I can safely guess what he had been professing), but this time he might prove right after all. Bitcoin has never been so shaky as it is now (not even after the Mt. Gox catastrophe)

what is wrong with changing stance?
i don't know about Wind_FURY and his speculations but even if you are correct then that simply means he made a mistake in his speculation and now he is making a new one. none of us can see the future anyways.

the difference between Wind_FURY and others with the duck is that the duck is just posting bullshit and none of it has anything to do with speculation. he just screams about doomsday all day long and does it on purpose and is aware of his bullshit.

and you are wrong about the last part too. a quick look at the charts show that bitcoin has always been the same level of "shaky" as it is today. you just seem to be more involved in this "shaky" period than you were in previous ones.
1956  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No payments in Crypto for Russia after possible Regularization Law. on: July 11, 2017, 10:47:50 AM
from what i have understood from news regarding Russia and bitcoin regulations i say your topic is very misleading.

the Russian government has nothing against bitcoin as "payment" they are mostly worried about taxation! and this can clearly be seen from every statement they have ever made.

they don't consider that bitcoin can be considered as a virtual currency. It's more digital assets with the regulation of assets, the head of the Central Bank of Russia Elvira Nabiullina said.
this is no different than what US does! they also treat bitcoin very similarly and it is all about taxation.

and this is already a great improvement in my opinion to go from "Banning bitcoin" to "wanting to regulate it and make it legal".
1957  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hard fork statement by freebitco.in on: July 11, 2017, 10:38:45 AM
since when are we discussing the statements from faucets regarding bitcoin and hard forks? Cheesy
1958  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you scared to hold until August 1? on: July 11, 2017, 10:28:15 AM
We know what will happen with the said date but are you willing to take a risk to hold your Bitcoins or maybe some Altcoins.
investing in bitcoin has always been risky, and that has not changed. what has changed is how people know about this particular risk but never knew about the rest or chose to ignore them.

and if you are scared then you have been doing a lot of things wrong.
for starters you were supposed to invest what you can afford to lose, so that you don't lose your mind and sanity because of fluctuations.

Quote
We are in the 'Red days' for how many weeks now
i don't know try scrolling out and try going to older dates. dates like 2017-1-1 or a little older 2016-10 and see what price was 6 months ago to 8-9 months ago.

then try going older, look at prices in 2016 the swings the "red days" do it with 2015, and so on. and lets talk then Wink

Quote
*I will sell my Bitcoins first then buyback after august 1*
*I will sell my Altcoins because it is nowhere to going up anymore*
i have manageable funds in the crypto market so i don't scare easy and i don't want to change any of it.

i have some BTC for holding
some for spending
some for trading

and the amounts in each group doesn't change and i am pretty happy so far and will be even if i lose some profit.
1959  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [2017-07-06]Is Ethereum Getting Ready For Mass Adoption? on: July 09, 2017, 09:55:07 AM
Is Ethereum Getting Ready For Mass Adoption?
no because there is no usage for ethereum so far. and all that this article is arguing about is its price rise AKA ethereum's pump and that has nothing to do with adoption.

Quote
The massive jump of Ether price in the past few months has caught the attention of lots of investors. However, many of them are still questioning whether this cryptocurrency is viable for being adopted by the crowd.
actually most people who hear about altcoins see the altcoin market in general and with a quick comparisson they can see that ethereum's pump was not even the biggest one!

price-wise there are other altcoins that have higher price than ethereum!
volume-wise there are other altcoins that had higher volume than ethereum if you exclude all the eth contract volume and only consider ETH/BTC and ETH/fiat (usd, eur,..)
percentage-wise ethereum doesn't even come close to the top 20 rises Cheesy

Quote
Some common arguments are that Ethereum can currently process around 20 transactions per second, while Visa is capable of handling over 24,000. Another argument can be that it is challenging for somebody with little technical experience to set up an Ether wallet.
first of all, no it can not. we have seen recently that how the whole network failed for weeks! which shows ethereum has a very serious scaling issue.
secondly ether is not even a currency. it never was supposed to be a currency and only the pumpers and shills compare it with currencies to pump the coin.

Quote
These are all valid logical reasonings.
where?!!!

Quote

ahh the monkeys of cointelegraph hard at work.
1960  Economy / Economics / Re: How is the price determined for a decentralized currency like bitcoin? on: July 09, 2017, 09:43:16 AM
... the volatility of the cryptocurrencies. ...

the volatility is different from all this though. and i don't see anyone covering this part of your question.

the high volatility is mainly because of the size of the orderbooks on these exchanges. specially when you are talking about cryptocurrencies in general this becomes more obvious.
for example if you go on bittrex or poloniex which have altcoins listed, you can see a lot of altcoins which don't even have a high enough daily volume. many of them can go up 100% in price just with spending 10BTC or less. and that means a much higher volatility.

the same is true for bitcoin but on a bigger scale. the orderbooks are very big at first look but usually what happens is that the volume that goes through each fluctuation period is bigger than these order sizes so it leads to a bigger swings.
