1801  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Attacks on Ethereum platform on: August 22, 2017, 10:27:42 AM
The other day saw an article that the amount of attacks hacks, phishing etc...have gone up on the Ethereum platform. How stable is it and how easy is it for bad guys to hack stuff on ETH platforms?

all the phishing attacks and hacks in that category are different than usual attacks on the ethereum itself. the phishing attack group happen about everything and they are easy to perform. it doesn't have to do anything with what they are attacking.

but the other form is dependent on what they are attacking. for example if there is an exploit in that project like the DAO thing which caused a lot of issues, or the recent hack of their official wallet that led to a huge amount of money lost. these are specific to ETH and so far it seems like it is easy to perform and are becoming very common thing!
1802  Economy / Speculation / Re: Recent Crash on: August 22, 2017, 10:17:44 AM
Recent Crash
a crash means a huge price drop. what happened here is that price went down about 5% and that is small and ridiculous even in a big market like Stocks or Forex! let alone in bitcoin market. here a 15% or even 20% drop is not a crash. and 5% is surprisingly small and is called the normal market fluctuations.

add to that the fact the price was $2000 not so long ago and you will see how a $3800 after being $2000 a month or so ago sounds like.

Anyone pissed off lately about the price drop next 2 me?  Huh
no, most people are extremely happy because they could, once again, buy bitcoin cheaper than it should be.

i had some money that i wanted to invest in bitcoin and if this small dip didn't happen i would have ended up buying less bitcoin. but thanks to this i bought even more.

Those of us who bought it around 3700 eur hoping that it's gonna go for the 5K then it fall back under the frogs ass 3200 EUR...
you are expecting wild swings out of bitcoin (from 5000 to 3200 is 36% drop) and that is not going to happen.

Do you believe it's only due to Bitcoin Cash?
it has nothing to do with bitcoin cash. well maybe a tiny bit because of some secondary effects.

Quote
I want to see steady rollin up to 10k.
that is impossible.
a healthy market has corrections like what you just saw. a price rise then a small drop known as correction.
it is the reaction market has to traders who sell short term to take the profit and enter back again as price corrects.
1803  Economy / Speculation / Re: What do you think market response of the segwit on August 24rd 2017 @ 12:30 UTC on: August 22, 2017, 10:09:58 AM
no i don't think price would rise up. it may stay the same around the same price level as now. it usually is like this, when there is an upcoming good news people buy in before the news because obviously they find out about it before and act on it.

as an example i can remind you of the halving last year. price started rising about 2 months before the actual halving and stopped a couple of weeks before it.

and also just like halving the effects of SegWit and the price rise will be seen in a couple of weeks after its activation when price starts rising anew.
1804  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BCH threat to BTC? on: August 22, 2017, 10:03:29 AM
Yes, it may be happening as we speak and over the next couple days. Bitcoin Cash could be Bitcoin very soon.
Nope, BCH price may have spiked and on other hand BTC's price dropped but it doesn't mean that BCH is on its way to kill BTC. BCH is still very young and no one knows how it turn out to be, all the more segwit is also incoming that could change few things I hope.

this is mainly market manipulation combined with great timing.

we all know that bitcoin price went up too fast, and we all were expecting a correction. like always the FUDsters use the short term movement only and the drop part. and then use it to pump something else at the same time. this time it was bitcoin cash. last time it was Dash an Ethereum and Ripple which were supposed to replace bitcoin by now!!!

as soon as people start looking at it as an opportunity to make profit, they will win. other wise they will sell at a panic (in a lower price) and they miss out when price recovers.
1805  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What services you wanna see with Bitcoin ? on: August 22, 2017, 09:56:39 AM
for starters i would like to see bitcoin in most places online as payment. for example any place that you can think of which is accepting paypal, or credit cards, ... also add bitcoin as payment.

this in my opinion will be the first and biggest step that we should take.
1806  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Help me choose a wallet for ETH on: August 20, 2017, 09:45:05 AM
i don't see anyone mention this and it is pretty new news so i'll say it.
you can check out blockchain.info too if you are interested in a web wallet for your ethereum coins. it is very new and they recently added support for ETH (a couple of days ago). you can give it a try and also there is a built in shapeshift to convert it to bitcoin too.
1807  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin value ever be overpowered by other Cryptos? on: August 20, 2017, 09:37:53 AM
will it ever be "overpowered" but currently existing altcoinc?
absolutely not. they are all weak coins and mostly are shitcoins created to get pump and dumped and nothing more.
they have no technology, they can not compete at bitcoin's level with this many number of transactions.

will it ever be "overpowered" but a future altcoinc?
it is possible. there are always innovations that can compete with bitcoin. the fact that nothing has been created so far and the alt devs are idiot kids doesn't mean things won't change in the future.

but one thing is for sure, when you see then advertising an altcoin as "replacing bitcoin" be sure that they are just pumping it temporarily and they want profit.
1808  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Crash?? on: August 20, 2017, 09:32:49 AM
1. nobody can speculate about bitcoin
2. what does crash mean? if it means going down to $3500 and coming back up afterwards then they are probably true.
but if they mean it will drop down to $2000 or lower then they are full of shit.
3. stop reading newspaper about bitcoin. about 2 weeks ago they were saying bitcoin price will reach $500000 by the end of 2017. did you believe that also? if not why do you believe this one then?
1809  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin core team join bitcoin cash team if the value keeps rising? on: August 20, 2017, 09:06:58 AM
why do you care what a bunch of programmers that you don't even know, do with their time?
they can do whatever they like, they can stop developing bitcoin tomorrow, join bitcoin cash, start a new altcoin,....

in the end it won't make a difference. if you focus on this group of programmers and what they decide to do you are centralizing bitcoin with your own hands.

it is not going to happen by the way. bitcoin cash will always remain an altcoin even if they pump the price temporarily up!
1810  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you do when your altoin pumps hard ? on: August 19, 2017, 10:16:13 AM
you are asking this probably because you have not made up your mind yet!
the first step is to decide what you want to do and why you are doing it.

most of us here are only buying altcoins to get the profit we are looking for. in other words to make more bitcoin. and because of that we dump the coins as soon as they get pumped hard and move on to the next altcoin to join in their pump and make profit and do the same.

at the end of the day it is only bitcoin that remains strong and goes up again. so it is best to have more of it before it is too late and BTC is worth $100K or something.
1811  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: referendum from all bitcoin hodlers on: August 19, 2017, 10:01:44 AM
neither of these.
i am not going to say no to 2 MB hard fork but i won't accept it either because it is too soon.
SegWit is a capacity increase already and we need to activate it first, then let it be around for a while and work to see how it is and then if the hard fork was really needed we can have a good plan, test things properly, add a replay protection and then go for it.

right now it seems like a half assed rushed thing which many are against it.
1812  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will it fall? on: August 19, 2017, 09:53:20 AM
3800 tomorrow, possible.

It's came to a plateau, hope is doesn't drop below 4k again.

i hope it drops again, a couple of my buy orders were filled today but i still have some fiat that i need to get rid of and dump it for bitcoin.
1813  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can I resend an "offline" transaction on: August 19, 2017, 09:47:04 AM
it is a bit hard to understand what it is you are trying to do. since the link is saying "tutorial-how-to-rebroadcast-a-bitcoin-transaction" i think you want this:

if you have a tx which is already signed either broadcast it through your wallet or use any of these to push it: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Transaction_broadcasting
1814  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Segwit2x Developer Jeff Garzik Removed From Github Repo on: August 19, 2017, 09:40:35 AM
That explains, why BCH suddenly shooted up like a rocket. But I think, there is no reason to doubt on "BTC 1". Just regret, that I dumped BCH for its lowest price. The best would be as Bitcoin holder, to keep BTC, BCH and a possible third Bitcoin.

this actually has nothing to do with BCH price Smiley
that thing went up before this started and it was a pure pump which is in the dumping phase right now. like many altcoins it is very simple to manipulate the price of it and they are doing exactly that. and why do you think it took exactly this much! it is to get rid of the dumps first then pump it. and soon dump again.
1815  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC continue to raise by end of the month on: August 18, 2017, 09:20:03 AM
bitcoin is just starting to rise and it is in the early stages of the rally. for the following 2 months the rise can continue even if it means at a slower pace. we have some stuff coming up but that won't happen in this 2 month period. and everything is currently ready for it too.
there is little to stop bitcoin now after activation of SegWit.
1816  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My $50 000 Bitcoin bet on: August 18, 2017, 09:05:45 AM
there is this thing called multi signature in bitcoin which you may have heard about. use it!

just a quick explanation in case you don't know how exactly it works:
it is one of those bitcoin addresses you see starting with 3.
these need multiple signatures from keys that different parties hold. it can be m of n signatures to spend the funds.
for your purpose you contact an escrow and you 3 (you + the person you made the bet with + the escrow) each create 1 key and hold it.
the transaction needs 2 signatures out of 3.
you each deposit some funds in that address (1BTC each for example)

when the time comes you two contact each other and sort things out and make the truncation happen with your 2 keys, if you couldn't sort it out or the other party disappeared you contact the escrow and sort it out and you with escrow and your 2 keys make the transaction happen.
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Multisignature

otherwise your bet means nothing Wink
1817  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin a currency or asset? on: August 18, 2017, 08:53:57 AM
the best answer i can give is that bitcoin is a currency on rout to be adopted.

this means the price will remain volatile as more people adopt bitcoin and make it go up. and this will probably last at least another 5 years. SegWit and LN will most probably speed this process up because it is the end of scaling debate and moving on with it. and also because it increases the capacity and allows faster transactions through LN for those who want it. this can potentially make bitcoin a serious competitor for payment processors and banks as a currency.
1818  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Market cap of BTC passes that of PayPal on: August 18, 2017, 08:48:49 AM
what happened to all the people watching the blank parity stuff?
i remember back when price was about $1000, everywhere you looked you could see someone talking about when the gold parity is going to be reached! and that was 1/4 the current price!

i am not much of a market capitalization for comparison but this is a good news showing how big bitcoin is becoming.
1819  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Theymos's list of altcoins with some technical merit on: August 17, 2017, 09:29:41 AM
i am surprised by these scores since they are out of 100! i mean why bother even talking about something with a score of 0.1 out of 100?

in any case it would be great to add your thoughts on Byteball too, since it is the most expensive coin after bitcoin and offers interesting features including anonymous transactions with BlackBytes:

1820  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Breaks Above $4000, What’s Next? on: August 17, 2017, 09:10:24 AM
you are a couple of days late to everything! go check the charts at least.
price broke above $4000 a while ago and then there was even a big correction where price fell down and created a good short term opportunity to buy bitcoin under market price. and now it is rising above the last ATH again.

i see others mentioning S2X, but that is not certain yet. and many things can change until that date. and until then there will be rise.
