1781  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin as a way of avoiding to change money when travelling abroad on: August 27, 2017, 12:55:16 PM
currently you can travel to countries like Japan and bring millions of dollars with you in and out of country without anyone even noticing and then when you get there you can easily spend bitcoin in thousands of shops and don't even worry about taxes because Japan has also removed taxes on any purchase that is done with bitcoin. so it will be even cheaper to buy with bitcoin.
1782  Economy / Speculation / Re: Atomic chain swap between btc and ltc on: August 27, 2017, 12:45:30 PM
this is actually a good point.
with atomic swap all the altcoins that has implemented SegWit and lightning network become viable options but (if i am not mistaken) the place that you are spending them should have an open LN channel not the traditional way of accepting just bitcoin deposits.

but if LN becomes popular and used by most services that are currently accepting bitcoin, then coins like LTC become a very viable option and will rise up in price.
it won't necessarily be based on their supply though.
1783  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Price Might Exceed $1 Million, More Millionaires in World Than Bitcoins on: August 27, 2017, 12:39:05 PM
21 million * 1 million = 21 trillion. enough day dream lol

so you just multiplied two numbers and then concluded that it is impossible. well done my friend. well done.
i am not saying 1 million is possible though, but just saying it because some number (which is market cap) becomes big is not a reason for why not.
1784  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1mb per block and scalability on: August 27, 2017, 12:30:39 PM
the issue with blocks and block size is that no matter how much you increase them, they will be filled at some point. and then you will be forced to increase it again and again,... and this will cause an issue with the total blockchain size and how nodes will eventually struggle to be a full node version and operate.

as much as i hate off chain solutions but in some cases they can reduce the pressure on the main chain so that it may lead to emptier blocks.
in any case we need to wait an see.
1785  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin (BTC) be killed by BCC soon? on: August 26, 2017, 09:31:37 AM
They're recommending people use litecoin or ethereum, as both can be changed into fiat on most exchanges, without the need to go through bitcoin.

just blurting out stuff without thinking is easy, you can fill the internet with them too. and that is what these links you quote are doing, specially those that are on steemit which they also get paid for putting up bullshit.

think about it a little, how do you use x and y instead of bitcoin?
lets say i want to purchase a game from Valve (steam platform) with bitcoin, how do i use x and y instead of bitcoin? now you see how idiotic people who say use x and y instead of bitcoin sound like ? Cheesy
1786  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I will give you all my Ethereum hashrate on: August 26, 2017, 09:24:05 AM
This is why ETH developers added the difficulty bomb to the code, to prevent miner retaliation.

Nothing we can do. Maybe support ETC instead.

in case you have forgotten, the "difficulty bomb" was introduced in the code in the very early days of ethereum's release. this thing is a very long con that has been playing out for ages. in other words since ETC has happened recently (a long time after the diff.bomb) it also has the same issue.
1787  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Launches SegWit, Max Keiser Raises ‘Interim’ Price to $10,000 on: August 26, 2017, 09:17:26 AM
I've long moved on from my past mistakes.
I'm just here to warn everybody that will listen to reason and facts.
FACT: there is a very good chance that you have always been a desperate person shorting bitcoin.

Quote
FACT: Bitcoin protocol is flawed.
not it is not. nearly 9 years of existence has proven that.
bitcoin may not be perfect but it is far from being "flawed".

Quote
FACT: SegWit transactions are extremely vulnerable to theft.
no they are not.
there is a 1 million dollar reward in form of a litecoin segwit tx you can feel free to rob it and it has been available for months.
there has been a lot of SegWit transactions so far, you can feel free to rob any of them too while you are at it.

Quote
FACT: November hard fork WILL cause chaos as the majority of miners will go to the SW2x chain.
it will be the same chaos we had 10-15 days before August 1st. nothing new to bitcoin world.

Quote
I'm not here to spread FUD, i'm here to warn people so they don't lose money.
nice joke buddy Grin

Quote
Many people seem to be way in over their heads in this, selling their houses and shit to invest in bitcoin.
if someone is doing it then they are the idiots who deserve to lose all their money. it doesn't have anything to do with November, S2X or whatever else
1788  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin: Not Practical As a Currency? on: August 26, 2017, 09:10:00 AM
i say lets not jump to any conclusions this fast. bitcoin is still young and currently it is experiencing a year of crisis after crisis with the spam attacks and all the fork drama and the hashrate drama,... they seem to never end.

give it some more time, let the price become more stable, let the drama of scaling subside and then see how it does do things that a currency is supposed to do.
and by the way bitcoin has been doing fine before 2017!
1789  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Parents disagree with MMO – Make Money Online and Bitcoin ? on: August 26, 2017, 09:03:16 AM
its just a thought but maybe you are doing something wrong Wink
bitcoin is great and all but the anonymity it provides can be abused too. specially by someone underage. so you may need to think again about what you are doing with bitcoin and see if they are really not understanding bitcoin or they know "you" too well!
1790  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is this the END of BCH on: August 25, 2017, 09:06:52 AM
actually in my opinion EDA or Emergency Difficulty Adjustment is what keeps BCH alive not what kills it. that is the whole purpose of its existence, to make mining it possible by changing the difficulty drastically and fast, not in the default and more logical way of 2016 blocks.

and there is always going to be pump and dumps that can keep it alive. specially with the SegWit2x drama on the horizon i am sure a lot of whales and speculators are keeping their eyes on BCH and may very well pump it to much higher prices.
1791  Economy / Economics / Re: Do we need blockchain technology? on: August 25, 2017, 08:55:23 AM
you are confusing two different things here:
- the technology
- shit pretending to be technology Wink

the blockchain technology is actually something that many are interested in. many big corporations are currently working on it. many good coins like bitcoin are using it. and it is pretty useful.

but what you have been seeing as ICOs are that shit that is pretending to be "technology" but it is a cheap rip off, created for a quick profit making and nothing more. they don't care about anything, it is the simple copy paste of code around an abstract idea with no real usage.
1792  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Launches SegWit, Max Keiser Raises ‘Interim’ Price to $10,000 on: August 25, 2017, 08:48:55 AM
$10,000 looks possible by end of this year if not price will be atleast over $7500. Even after segwit activation we haven't seen any significant dump on market which shows that people are still buying bitcoin at this high price. Last bull run was not fueled by high speculation over segwit and nobody is selling on the actual segwit activation like many have predicted.

Holding all my bitcoins for next round of bull run.....
The price is only getting higher. $10k don't look impossible indeed. But I am thinking whether it is worth to keep btc even more, after it reaches $10000. Where's the limit in price growth? Keeping btc forever won't make any sense, for one has to spend something he/she has. Otherwise having money doesn't make any sense and is actually worth nothing.

$10000 price has never been impossible, even when price was dropping back in 2014 down towards the $188 bottom it all seemed possible to reach $10K. nothing has changed from that day apart from the speed of the rise.
in the end it will all come down to the adoption, and as time goes by the adoption rate increases too. so for example if we used to have 2x rises each year now we can have 4x rise easily. and more in the future.
1793  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Safe offline wallet? on: August 25, 2017, 08:39:56 AM
i keep seeing everyone repeating electrum and paper wallet, but you should remember that these are not safe on their own. for example if you open bitaddress.org right now and create a new paper wallet and print it, that is not safe because you just made it while online and it may have been compromised.

there are certain steps that should be taken for a secure offline wallet like these:
1. downloading the wallet, code,... from trusted sources.
2. verifying its signature to make sure you have not downloaded a compromised source
3. running it in a clean and offline computer to generate your offline wallet.
4. never connecting that computer to internet ever.
1794  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many people left their full-time employment to go into Bitcoin? on: August 25, 2017, 08:33:19 AM
When i started in bitcoin i was wondering if how much would i earned on my signature campaign if i rank up my account .....

LOL, you do realize that signature campaign is not the only source for earning bitcoin right? and i don't think OP meant it like that either.
there are numerous ways that you can earn bitcoin, from trading to selling stuff and to freelance jobs. signature campaign is like the least amount you can earn.

the difference that earning bitcoin has with earning fiat is that when you earn fiat it doesn't appreciate in time, but when you get paid in bitcoin it will gain value over time too. so if you hold a part of it after expenses it will also become a good investment.
1795  Economy / Economics / Re: Pump and dump is the name of the game. on: August 24, 2017, 09:48:14 AM
Did you guys noticed what was happening recently in the crytocurrency world?

it has been happening from day 1 in the altcoin world. it is actually the main reason why 90% of the altcoins are created and will continue to be created in the future too. it is a small market, susceptible to manipulation. and there is a lot of money to be made through this.
it is nothing new.

although i have to add, some people mistake bitcoin rises, specially when they are fast, with pump and dumps. they are not at all like P&D simple because there is nothing fake about it and they stay around and there is real demand for bitcoin!
1796  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple Currency - is it worth investing in? on: August 24, 2017, 09:36:56 AM
Just read a little bit about ripple currency
it is not really a "currency"!

Quote
and its working mechanism seems to be a little different than bitcoin. Seems like an interesting concept. However, the company will hold 50% of its 100 billion ripplies.
there are lots of interesting "mechanisms" out there but simply being different doesn't make the better investments.

Quote
Does it mean that the currency will if not appreciate as much as bitcoin, there are still chances that it might appreciate in the coming months and years?
there is no way in a million years that ripple appreciates as much as bitcoin! it is a very simple concept called supply and demand it is a 21 million bitcoins versus 100,000 million (100 billion) ripple supply.
at the same time it is a growing demand for bitcoin versus 0 demand for ripple

Quote
If so, is it worthwhile to invest in it for longer term?
not at all.
even if we ignore the huge supply, this coin is currently in a huge bubble and it has been falling slowly down back to 900 satoshi range.
1797  Economy / Speculation / Re: Legendary Bitcoin Trader “masterluc” Predicts $15,000 Bitcoin This Year on: August 24, 2017, 09:27:49 AM
$15,000 is still cheap...

We have 6 billion people in the world and the top capacity for bitcoin is 21 million coins.

of course it is cheap. we all know about the small supply of bitcoin with the growing demand, but it is all about the time-frame. $15,000 will be the value of bitcoin at some point in the future but to say it will happen this year (in about 4 months) is absurd unless he is predicting a huge bubble and that is not possible either.
1798  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The OFFICIAL SegWit Activation Thread on: August 24, 2017, 09:20:08 AM
I'm guessing that this doesn't affect paper wallet as you just import the private key into a SegWit enabled wallet.

this was a backward compatible upgrade which means everything that was working before should continue to work after the upgrade (fork) too.
any paper wallet that was created before this fork is using the old keys and those keys are and will be valid forever. so the wallets should continue supporting it.
1799  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig W. only claims to be Satoshi, because he knows the real Satoshi is dead? on: August 24, 2017, 09:14:31 AM
Just an idea. If Craig Wright is NOT Satoshi Nakamoto, he would definitely risk the real Satoshi come up with a proof, that Craig is not SN. Is it possible, that CW explicitly knows about the death of the person behind SN, so he can make his claims without backing them up with a proof?  Roll Eyes

not necessarily.
after many years of not being present (6 or 7 years?) and not once break that anonymity, it is fairly correct to assume Satoshi Nakamoto will not come forward and break the anonymity in the future either. and the reason for that can be anything.
and CW's attempts were mostly a public stunt that the community caught easily. so again he can be fairly sure Satoshi will never come forward to put his claims down since we have already did it instead of real SN.
1800  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did Warren Buffett buy bitcoin? on: August 24, 2017, 09:09:19 AM
the issue with some people is that they think bitcoin is the only thing that can give such profits. there was actually a topic here about a stock that is currently 200,000 dollar and Warren Buttett is involved in it and that was once less than 1 dollar.

you see he is making a lot more profit in a lot easier way than bitcoin.
