I vote 4.Qxd4 in the spirit of the World Cup

i also vote Qxd4 to end this stall and following World Cup sounds good to me
302  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you agree people barrow money for gambling? on: October 04, 2015, 02:41:31 AM
no, and i would never lend money to someone who wants to spend it for gambling.

if someone gambles more than he has its a strong evidence that he is addicted and cant control himself.

as gambling is always -EV and one of the big problems of gambling addicts is that they dont believe that ("i lost so many times now, next round MUST be a win") how can i expect him to pay back?

EDIT: i would lend (or donate in case of a friend) money to him if he proofs to make a therapy
303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: October 04, 2015, 02:14:44 AM

You can still download the original unpruned BBR chain from a web site, I believe. Of course if you do that you are using the same bandwidth for the full chain as in the previous paragraph.

Correct

http://boolberry.com/downloads.html#blockchain_proof

while you are here (sorry for OT @ AEON)

 - does it contain new transactions? AFAIK new transactions will be pruned in the future so this file needs updates regularly. is this the case? or i am wrong in my thinking?

 - IMHO this file should not be only on one server. bittorrent or freenet come to mind. i am not afraid of changes to that file (that should be detectable) but if the owner of the server has an accident (i really dont hope so) i may be lost if not mirrored.
304  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Buying Negative Trusted on: October 04, 2015, 02:00:11 AM
i am fine with you doing that...

i think you could contact DT-members if they would remove the negative trust if you can proof that you bought that account, because their is no reason the account cant be trusted any more.

(IMHO they should also remove positive-trust-ratings on bought accounts)

They will never, ever, ever remove the negative ratings on accounts just because it was supposedly bought. Unless it's an extremely rare case; so rare that it's virtually nonexistent. In reality, there's no real way you can prove that you legitimately sold the account to a separate entity. But you're right; positive trust ratings should be removed but they probably won't be simply because sellers are greedy. Smiley

Well negative trust account might give your account negative trust also because ban might lead to ban so also negative might lead to negative.

Look, er... bans =/= negatives. The rules of banned accounts do not apply to accounts with negative trust. I'm sure that some people would tag you with a negative if you're found in ownership of an account with a negative trust rating, but not if you were just testing signatures and stuff on it.

it depends who bought that accounts... imagine BadBear or theymous bought them: are you still sure they wont remove their negative feedback?

IMHO it boils down to:
 - are they even listening to you?
 - are you able to proof that you bought that account

So Monero is rubbish now?

No

Quote
Its strange to see monero devs or supporters jumping/launching a new coin.

It's not a new coin, it was launched about 6 weeks after Monero last year. Nobody is jumping either.

Quote
Its only shows luck of faith into monero, and it seems as xmr is already a lost cost, so it time to start new coin.

There is no lack of faith. I explained how I view them as having distinct roles. If you don't think this coin has a viable role then don't buy it. If your analysis turns out to be correct the eventually this project will fail, the coin will be abandoned, and Monero will still be there.

This seems as a conflict of interest when a monero dev to work on a competitive cryptonote coin. Its already causing confusion in this forum, seeing other posts.

personally i dont see a conflict of interest because i see XMR and AEON as the cryptonode family (these are the only two i am interested in; i lost interest in BBR: but thats another story).

i consider AEON as a bleeding edge testbed while Monero tends to be better tested with other processes for new developments (eg MRL).

but i think every Monero holder should invest a (small) part of their holdings in AEON too.
307  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: October 04, 2015, 01:01:09 AM

2. There is a pruning branch (beta test release) which reduces storage requirements and also makes them grow much more slowly over time (especially if usage of the coin picks up).

can you elaborate on the difference between AEON and BBR pruning?

AFAIK BBR pruning has "the problem" that its not possible to track all coins to its origin and may lead to a scenario that in case of a serious bug its not possible to verify the total coins in an existence (but it could be that i had misunderstand that and its been a while so i'd like to see a trustable statement about it)
308  Other / Meta / Re: What do you think about that our trust lists are public on: October 03, 2015, 07:02:01 PM
Trust lists have to be public so there is accountability within DefaultTrust. Outside of that its also important to know who may be a good addition into DefaultTrust. I'm not sure I understand your comments about bribing people so I won't comment on that.

good points. imho you are right... sounds like i should go code some tool to make that list browsable.

my point about bribing was only that i may contact and bribe a user if i want his account.
eg some time ago (dont know if i still am) i was on trustlist of ABitNut. someone who wants to scam him could try to bribe me to sell my account.
309  Other / Meta / What do you think about that our trust lists are public on: October 03, 2015, 06:44:28 PM
i am unsure about that.

the (only) problem i see is, that if someone wants to scam a specific person he might to able to buy (or bribe) a person who is on the trust list of his target.
not sure how big the problem is though: the scammer has to be aware that its possible that those people know each other.

what do you think?
310  Other / Meta / Re: Trust List Analysis - Alt Account Identification on: October 03, 2015, 06:09:55 PM
got me Wink
onemorebtc is an alt of me. but i dont use it for posting anymore
311  Other / Meta / Re: Altcoin Announcements subforum with uneditable posts? on: October 03, 2015, 02:40:26 PM
Let the escrow start and run the [ANN] thread. If any changes need to be made to the OP....it has to go through the escrow.

No escrow....run away very quickly.

sounds good too me.. but:
 - this means escrow has more work to do. even in the future. eg more fee
 - what about multiple escrows?
 - escrow (to some degree atleast) has his reputation linked to the IPO now because he has opened the thread

IMHO this cant be a forum rule but i would consider it "good practice"
but i still like the idea Wink
312  Other / Meta / Re: Altcoin Announcements subforum with uneditable posts? on: October 02, 2015, 04:47:44 PM
i also like that idea.

but: the first post of an announcement can (and should) change if there are new developments (eg new features, new exchanges) so that new people may see them. how would you deal with that?

atm i am thinking about how to avoid deleting warning messages from an escrow (as in your bitrush case)
but i dont have a good idea (yet)
313  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Donations with bitcoin to seomeone that doesn't accept it on: October 02, 2015, 04:25:49 PM
i'd try localbitcoins. someone may be interested in doing this because of taxes (because its essentially buying bitcoins for him; but for the feds it looks like donation to a (potentially) charity).

but you need to find someone really trustable and/or good escrow for this as i dont know how to proof that the money has been sent.
314  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which cryptocurrency are you using exept Bitcoin?why? on: October 02, 2015, 03:29:35 AM
i only use (and hold) bitcoin and monero
315  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Vitalik writes Dear John letter to the Ethereum community... on: October 02, 2015, 03:04:25 AM
So any speculations about ETH future?

Will they pull their exit scam soon? What will happen? I need answers *grab popcorn*

To fund their 340,000 CHF monthly budget for the next 12 months they will be massively selling ETH.
That is one way things are headed.

what are they doing with 340,000 CHF MONTHLY?
that amount is insane...

Just have a look at the 'transparent accounting'.

We will have transparent accounting

a found it... thank you Wink

they REALLY deserve it NOT!
316  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: "instant" payment system concept on: October 02, 2015, 03:00:51 AM
as said that would need some kind of centralized service like inputs.io was....if someone remembers how that played out you know why this is a bad idea.

lets just keep bitcoin trustless and live with conf-times

No. It doesn't have one yet.

It probably never will, it smells like a stinking scam. How the F they lost 18m dollars?

It stinks very badly guys.

i would like to know that as well.
even with many employees its not easy to burn that much money that fast
320  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ..Who owns this wallet?? on: October 01, 2015, 08:45:40 PM
It seems to be tainted with coins from Mt Gox. It could be some of the stolen BTC, though even if it is I doubt the current owner has any idea.
There is no such thing as 'taint'. A bitcoin is a bitcoin.  No matter if it was just used to kill the president of Laos.  The notion that bitcoins get dirty and less good based upon their prior use - is completely silly.  When someone hands me a 100Euro note - I don't give a damn what nefarious transaction it was used for last week.  That 100 note looks the same amount of green to me.

thats only because you dont know what nefarious transaction have been done with that note.
