There would need to be a concentration of bitcoiners for this to work. I suggest penetrating into a community that would be extremely receptive to bitcoins.

I think the term "cryptocurrency" will come back to bite us someday, but Satoshi has already used it publicly, it is a coined word with no prior usage, and it works. Satoshi may have coined "cryptocurrency", and "crypto currency" has been in use for decades. I am happy to accept Fresco's version since others like it. |

Lower auction price make people want to bid on it, in the hope of getting it for very cheap. However, it mean that they are attached to the auction and will probably bid for more.
I saw a silver coin going for 0.99 bitcoins and now it's 60 something bitcoins. Another coin was sold for 100 btc this way I think.

I kept getting them mixed up in code, and came to the same method of thinking as you.Bid is the amount someone is "bidding" for coins, and ask is how much they're "asking", makes perfect sense, for some reason I still get them mixed up :/
Using the terms 'bidding' and 'asking' like that still gets me mixed up. Just for some reason using the terms 'offering' and 'demanding' in conjunction with the terms 'ask' and 'bid' helps me. It's not clever and I don't know why it helps, so I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't help others like it helps me, but I thought I'd mention it just in case. Everyone uses their own methods to keep themselves from mixing things up. Yeah I am glad i am not the only one who was confused by these meanings.One thing is for sure if you make a loss because you misunderstood you will be motivated to learn or pm the owner of the market for an explanation  Even I get confused by the bidding and asking. |

I earned most of my money trading on mtgox. Otherwise, I am trying for the software coding angle but I am impeded by my own laziness.

The longer this thread goes on, the more stale the pledges are going to be as people forget or leave the community.
I propose someone swiftly volunteer to be the escrow, and get people to donate their pledge. If people don't trust the escrow in question, please speak up.
10 acknowledgement from other users will make the volunteer the official EFF escrow person.

OK, just say 850 nodes, then. Could we assume that all members of this forum are users? What's that number? And would exchanges report numbers of distinct clients?

Thanks. I pledged. In this thread, lfm writes that "I see about 850 connections to the IRC channel." Is that our best estimate? That's quite an assumption. It would mean there are 1 user for each nodes. It is more probable than some users run more nodes than other. |
