101  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Honey Caramels on: May 02, 2014, 02:25:58 AM
I want to place an order with international shipping to Belgium.
Could I get a quote? (as mentioned on your website)
Thanks!

Send a PM of what you would like and we will get the quote to you.
If the package is under 4 lbs. (1.8kg) we can send 1st Class mail which is a little cheaper, but takes a couple days longer.

I am sort of new to all this blogging stuff, I just want to ask if there is a specific place on this forum for me to reach out and ask if anyone has any businesses that are accepting bitcoin payments that I can write about on my blog. Thanks for any help it is much appreciated!

Here is one of many lists that you can use to find other businesses using bitcoin

103  Economy / Goods / Re: (WTB) Variety of Seeds for Garden on: April 27, 2014, 08:17:20 PM
Last year we (mostly my 8 year old daughter) looked up numerous flowering plants that would work in our area (the Western U.S.) and be beneficial to native bees and honeybees.  Then she contacted several seed companies and ordered what she could get in bulk. We ended up putting together two different seed packets that she sells at our Farmer's Market.  Each packet covers 50 square feet ($1.50/packet).

There is some overlap between the two mixes:

The first is called the "Honeybee Wild Flower Mix" and has the following flowers:
Baby Blue-Eyes (Nemophila menziesii)
Rocky Mountain Beeplant (Cleome serrulata)
California Poppy (Eschscholzia californica)
Blanketflower (Gaillardia aristata)
Utah Sweetvetch (Hedysarum boreale)
Yellow Lupine (Lupinus densiflorus aureus)
Blue Flax (Linum perenne)
California Bluebell (Phacelia campanularia)
Lacy Phacelia (Phacelia tanacetifolia)
Dwarf Godetia (Clarkia amoena)
Clarkia (Clarkia unguiculata)
Globe Gilia (Gilia capitata)
Showy Goldeneye (Viguiera multiflora)
Golden Aster (Heterotheca villosa)
Prairie Coneflower (Ratibida columnifera)
Bigelow's Aster (Machaeranthera bigelovii)
Fleabane Daisy (Erigeron speciosus)
Plains Coreopsis (Coreopsis tinctoria)
Rocky Mountain Penstemon (Penstemon strictus)

The second mix we call "Xeriscape Wildflower Mix".  (This one is for areas that we don't water)
It contains the following:
Arroyo Lupine
California Poppy
Blanketflower
Blue Flax
Greenthread
California Bluebell
Desert Marigold
Bird's Eyes
Pale Evening Primrose
Palmer Penstemon
Rocky Mountain Penstemon
Tidy Tips
Blazing Star
Prairie Coneflower
Deerhorn Clarkia
Gooseberryleaf Globemallow
Oregon Sunshine

Not sure where in Canada you are to know how well suited these blends would be for you.  You can look them up on the internet to see if they would work in your area.

We have the packets and seeds already, she just needs to weigh them out.

Hey nonnakip,

We were really glad you dropped by and were able to meet you in person.  Enjoyed the conversation!  The boys are a bit more motivated to get done with some of their "boring" studies so they can make room for learning more linux. Wink

I know when one travels, there is only a limited amount of time to see and do all that one wants to.
Thanks for spending some time with us, and thank you OgNasty for sending him over.

It's hard to believe its only been two years
Way to Go Bee Bros for keeping it up this long

What a long strange trip its been!  Shocked  Bitcoin and bees have certainly changed the course of our family.

Thanks to all of you.

Are you guys able to ship to UK? I'm a massive fan of caramels ! Will be looking to purchase around 1-2kg Cheesy

If the total weight does not exceed 1.8kg we can ship it First Class instead of Priority mail.  1.8kg would cost $35.06 to send to the UK.

Above 1.8kg, then the medium flat rate box might become the next best option.  It can weigh up to 20 lbs and costs $58.65 to send.

Somebody placed an order, that was sent and returned back to us with a note from the post office saying it was undeliverable.  We sent emails to the person, but I am not sure the email is real.

Anyway, if that happens to be you, contact us.

108  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Honey Caramels on: April 04, 2014, 06:01:18 AM
got my almonds thanks!

Great!

We did change the website that we have Honey Roasted Almonds again.

Waiting for a warmer day to split a few hives and start putting honey supers out.  Can't believe the winter is over.
109  Economy / Goods / Re: buy beef with bitcoins on: March 31, 2014, 03:43:40 PM
OK - thank you sir.
I am realizing USPS is not going to be dependable enough. I am investigating Fed ex and UPS. Anyone have any useful experience with either?

We are starting to use FedEx more.  They have some flat rate shipping options that might work better for you with the heavy weights you will be sending.
Not sure if that is the best solution, but that is where I would start looking.

Looked like you were a little North of the entrance to Green Canyon by the picture, right?

Do you accept bitcoin at the Farmer's Market? I'll probably drop by then if no other time.

Our house and some of the bees are just a few blocks south (1700 N) of the canyon and the kitchen is located right at the entrance of the canyon.

Cache Valley?! Do you have a local location? I go to USU!

...not that I have enough bitcoin at the moment, but I'm working on it!  Grin

Cool! Another bitcoiner in the valley!

We don't have a store front, just a commercial kitchen that we operate out of.  We are just a little north-east of Campus.  You are welcome to drop by sometime.  We work late at night most nights of the week.

112  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] Cheeses for Bitcoin on: March 29, 2014, 05:06:42 PM
I'm in central New Jersey, USA.

There are plenty of small farms near me as well that have great meat, cheese and eggs.

I should try and convince the owners to accept BTC.

I have three local businesses in our area that I think are willing to take bitcoin.  A jam maker, gourmet chocolate maker and an archery store.  Hopefully by the end of next week we have things worked out.  Smiley
113  Economy / Goods / Re: Kydex Pistol Holsters on: March 29, 2014, 05:02:22 PM
I need two kydex holsters for an FMK 9C1 G2.  Would those fit in a Glock holster or would they have to be custom made?
114  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] Cheeses for Bitcoin on: March 29, 2014, 04:30:41 PM
I'm looking for some places to buy some (gourmet or not) cheeses with BTC!

Does anybody know of any?

Does anybody here have cheese they want to sell?

We sell our honey and honey caramels at this small cheese shop that is about 15 minutes from our house...
http://www.rockhillcheese.com/

We purchase cheese from them all year long.  (They aren't interested in bitcoin...yet.)

Where state/country is the destination?
115  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Honey Caramels on: March 29, 2014, 04:20:07 PM
@BeesBrothers,

How much would 1 lb of caramels cost in a flat rate box vs. in the pretty box?

The 1 lbs bag costs $27 and the 4 boxes would be $32.

The 1 lbs bag fits into the small flat rate shipping box ($5.25).  4 of the 1/4 lbs. caramels boxes would go in the Regional Rate Box A and the price on that would be around $5-$10 based on your zipcode.

We recently started a new venture with Edd at http://bitbrew.net/

The Bitcoin General Store https://bitcoingeneralstore.com/

What remaining honey roasted almonds we had we sent to the Bitcoin General Store.
117  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitcoin General Store on: March 23, 2014, 02:26:40 PM
A couple of goals we hope to accomplish with the Bitcoin General Store:

1) One convenient shopping for multiple items at one store (savings on shipping).

2) A place where new vendors wishing to start using bitcoin can sell their items and the customers won't have to worry about getting scammed.  We will have their items in stock before we sell any.  This will be a way to screen new vendors and eliminate risk to the customer.  We will link to the new vendor's websites and/or forum threads so customers can order directly from them.

3) We have begun and will continue to contact vendors (currently not taking bitcoin) that we know who might have items we could sell for them.  They will need to set up a bitcoin address as we plan to do as much transactions as possible with bitcoin.  We will also help the new vendors get set up to receive bitcoin or use a third party processor if they choose.

Hopefully this will get more goods and services available with bitcoin, and get more businesses using bitcoin.

Just posting to confirm this is me and the Bees Bros.

Posting to confirm we approve of this message.
119  Economy / Goods / Re: buy beef with bitcoins on: March 23, 2014, 07:10:52 AM
After I posted that the package arrived we put it in the fridge and I went back to work.
Later that evening I opened up the T-bone and Rib Eye steaks, and they looked and smelled fine.  I figured they had recently thawed out and were ready to go. (We did throw out the ground beef).

15 year old son tried a new steak sauce.  Equal amounts of red cooking wine and honey, lots of freshly ground pepper, and several crushed garlic cloves.  He served it with steamed vegetables (broccoli, bell pepper, onions, and mushrooms) with a honey wine vinegar drizzled over it.  Also some wheat bread just out of the oven with lots of honey. Wink

Turned out a very good meal.  The meat was fine, glad we didn't toss it out!  There were two of each type of steak, thick slices, and it fed 6 people.

If I had not bought a 1/2 a cow (with bitcoins  Cool) a week before this thread was created, and didn't have a friend locally who I buy from, I would consider buying from andelin before purchasing from the grocery store.

Figuring out how to ship a perishable item is a tricky thing and I consider the problems of this first run not to be an issue.  I think everyone can order from andelin without worrying about it being a scam.

We meant to take some pictures, but we were pretty hungry and it smelled really good once it was cooked...and we forgot to grab the camera.

No need to send a replacement shipment to us.  Thanks for sharing.
120  Economy / Goods / Re: buy beef with bitcoins on: March 21, 2014, 09:57:46 PM
14:30 got a call at work from home that the meat package arrived.

Me: "How do you know it is the meat package?"
Son: "Because when I opened the door the mailman said "Be careful. It's bleeding"."

I ran home to check it out and to see if it was still cold.  The steaks were nicely wrapped in butchers paper, the ground beef was in those ground beef plastic bags.  All were put into a larger zip-lock bag (which was not sealed).  Then everything was put into a Styrofoam shipping container and put into a cardboard box.

Knowing previously that there was the possibility of not enough dry ice in the shipments, and that for some reason, it took an extra day to get to me, I expected that it wouldn't arrive frozen.

The meat was completely thawed, not warm, but not cold.  With the leakage all over the box and in the package I checked for any bad odors.  There were none.

Had there been enough dry ice and a sealed zip-lock bag, this would have been exactly what was expected.

I would recommend always giving the tracking number to the recipient.  I was at the post office 3 times yesterday dropping off honey and caramels.  Had I had the tracking number I might have been able to have picked it up earlier.  Also it helps reduce stress for the paying customers letting them know that things are on their way.

I think this looks promising!  Hope this works out for you.

This isn't the first time on these forums that shipping hasn't gone as smoothly as hoped for.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=68747.msg848232#msg848232 Wink

Edit: zip-lock bag was from my wife who opened the box and put the meat in the bag before putting it in the frigde.
