1041  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: August 03, 2016, 02:32:26 PM
@TookDk, yeah, thank you for summing up your favorit features about Mycelium! As you wrote, it is not like if I use Mycelium I cannot use anything else, but I appreciate your positive feedback about the software, appreciate enough to want to try out Mycelium soon next to my current wallets.

Well, kind of. Usually when people talk about "hardware wallets" they mean some kind of device which can't be hacked due to the code it runs being very limited in scope, and uneditable without physically pressing some buttons on the device. Android on the other hand is a general purpose operating system and probably has many vulnerabilities and possibly even deliberate backdoors.

Oh I see. Hardware wallets are dedicated device. Its purposes is to keep the virtual wallet secure by limiting the possibilities of system vulnerabilities thanks to a minimalistic system and in addition it also restricts how a person ( or an other device ) can communicate with the wallet. However, according to this definition I wonder what if I bought a board with the physical controls I would want to use it with, installed a minimalistic Linux onto the board ( with the minimal software I need like Mycelium ) and set proper security rules? That also would be a  compact hardware with restricted system and minimalistic design.

If the 16 included the fee, yes, but probably it doesn't. In which case 5+5+1+5 isn't quite enough because you need to fund the tx fee as well.

You mean it is not that easy to pre-calculate the exact amount of output ( as @HCP pointed out too right above ) because the transaction size contains inexact parameters. I get that, I just wanted to point out I understood how the logical layer worked. But again, I got to know, the software displayed the exact tx parameter, at least.
1042  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Up Like Trump on: August 03, 2016, 01:27:01 PM
Probably, as a balkanac, I do not get every detail right, but I see many would support Trump because he could show enough money and thus prove himself to be a successful person. I do not know whether Donal Trump such a fake person, but I know, it is common scammer tactics to get people rely their decisions on one's wealth. If people believe you are a rich and therefore successful person, you can easily raise charm based on this image and then get people rely their money on your image, that, of course, a scammer would steal. Since in most cases the scammers actually are not rich people, they often fake their wealth. I am just asking the question, why would Donal Trump say he has more money than he really has? Since I currently am not living in America and have no exact idea about the current situation I cannot automatically trust Trump's rivals either, but I could appreciate a new candidate who can win my love without using suspicious tactics.
1043  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum+Decred/Siacoin GPU Miner v5.3 (Windows/Linux) on: August 03, 2016, 09:51:37 AM
Is it stable and worth in solo mining in the close future? Can I use it on the system I use daily or am advised to run it from a dedicated server instead? I would like to use it with an EVGA GeForce GTX 1080, but if I cannot run it on my daily system, I would use it with a Radeon R9 Nano in a server provided it supports them.

EDIT: I think, I will wait the solution of the below mentioned error messages before usage :/

EDIT2: Alrighty. Support is lively at this one. Thank you!
1044  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why You Hate Suicide Terrorists? They are Victims too. on: August 03, 2016, 09:31:58 AM
Do you think any of the bad things that happened to the suicide terrorists in their lives give them the ultimate right of destroying innocent people? By innocent, I mean people who are not responsible for the bad things that happened in the suicide terrorists' past lives.
1045  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ◈◈UNIQREDIT P2P LENDING✔✔ BLOCKSHARES✔✔ TECHSTRAP ◈◈ on: August 02, 2016, 07:33:07 PM
So, I understand providers in the UNIQREDIT system can install services onto their servers via service modules. I also understand I will be able to read about the upcoming modules in the official site. Does that mean providers can choose from your modules only or will you accept custom coded modules after some kind of verification?
1046  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin can disappear? on: August 02, 2016, 05:55:55 PM
Yes bitcoin can disappear overnight but wait, that can happen with our earth too. If you are associated with crypto currencies from long time then you might have seen many alternative struggling crypto currencies have disappeared overnight.

I believe that bitcoin has passed struggling period long ago and now it is heading towards a mainstream currency which will be treated as good alternative to fiat currencies. Although if you think bitcoin will disappear overnight then you should really analyze economic conditions (which are actually in favor of this technology).

What altcoins did you mean exactly? :-P

I saw an altcoin named Shield that disappeared before we could download our very first clients. Or I could say the owner disappeared with the withdrawn investments lol. I learned not to invest into any altcoin before seeing a working client and am advised to be extremely cautious in the struggling period because as you wrote at a new altcoin they really could disappear overnight. What is more, there is a high number of shady offers among new altcoins.

However, BTC is not another new altcoin and really, according to the economic conditions the probability of BTC staying with us is close ( if not ) to 1 so sure.
1047  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Poloniex Lending Bot Service on: August 02, 2016, 05:44:46 PM
Basically if the price crashes really fast and there aren't enough buy orders to handle all the selling pressure from liquidating margin trading, then you can have a circumstance where there isn't enough liquidity to pay back lenders as the borrowers would be sub prime (under water).  Probably not going to happen, but it could.

BTC has been doing pretty well this year and the predictions are positive for the next one, but you are right, you need to include the rarer, but still critical circumstances into the description. If the customers had huge difficulties with paying back due to sudden fall in BTC's price , I can understand you could not pay back the increased amounts of BTC to the providers who provided BTC when its price was higher because that would mean you would have to pay back BTC pro to the fallen rate and I also understand the BTC you can provide for this purpose is also limited and would fall in value at a crash. Well, thank you for clearing it up to me and I wish good luck to avoid such a crisis!
1048  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: August 02, 2016, 04:00:53 PM
It doesn't show the exact size... but you can roughly calculate it using the standard formula:

Quote
the size of the tx will be: 180 bytes per input + 34 bytes per output + 10 bytes.

That was what I was asking and I appreciate your will you tried to help me first!  Smiley I understand the calculation you wrote is a rough calculation that provides an estimated result for the tx, but it may be different in real because Mycelium tries to optimize the transaction. Well, even an estimated result is better than having no idea so I thank you!

Mycelium starts with the oldest output and adds more until enough value for the transaction was added, then goes through the outputs and checks whether some can get removed again.

...and if you wanted to send 16, it would choose the first four ones then remove nothing because 5 + 5 + 1 + 5 is 16 exactly. I hope I understand right, thank you! I could appreciate a feature to select my output option and also information about the exact fee before transaction, though.
1049  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Can I offer the use of my electricity? on: August 02, 2016, 03:45:11 PM
Well, I don't run a pool and I haven't before so I don't have very much knowledge at all about setting one up, it would probably be better to ask someone like -ck about it, because they run their own pool (CK's solo mining pool). However, I'd think a good starting point would be learning about Bitcoin-Qt and it's capabilities. I suspect you'd be using Bitcoin-Qt on the backend of the pool to keep the blockchain updated, and then integrating that with PHP and a database management system (such as mySQL) to keep track of users, balances, etc. and report that information to users via the pool's website.

I will install Bitcoin-QT to the server(s) then I will create some DB to store data on the server. After I have the DBs and the Bitcoin-QT installed, I will write some PHP script to synchronize a website with the Bitcoin-QT and MySQL DB and then open the pool with allowing users to register and participate through the website. That is how I plan the things, at least. Before implementation, however, I will learn about Bitcoin-QT's features and would ask -ck about what information security factors I should take into consideration to secure my pool.

Thank you for your help!
1050  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Can I offer the use of my electricity? on: August 01, 2016, 02:15:43 PM
I think the OP was more interested in setting up a miming farm rather than a bitcoin pool.

I don't want to discourage you either, but one of the first rules when setting up a mining pool is that if you don't know what to do, you shouldn't be running a pool. A pool can have millions of dollars running through it via solving blocks and withdrawals. If you don't know where to start with setting up a pool, I can pretty much guarantee you your security won't be up to par to prevent potential hacks resulting in financial losses.

You are pointing out that starting a mining pool is not advised without big experience with the necessary knowledge so it is not a thing I read about on a day then implement it that night. Well, OP was writing about setting up a mining pool in the original thread and that is why I wondered what his plan was. I do not want to run a mining pool, at the moment, but I would be interested in your suggestion about a reliable source where to start learning about it. I am wondering what you keep a reliable source because as you wrote, if the security is not up to par, potential hacks may result in financial losses and I feel responsibility for protecting the users ( and myself ) from such losses in my possible future mining pool.
1051  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: August 01, 2016, 02:06:46 PM
It seems the transaction fees increased ouse to be able to send for only a two cent fee now it's 14. I am only testing 100k Satoshi. Are they cheaper fees when I send more?

The transaction fee will depend on the size of the transmission in terms of kB.
If you have many small output in your wallet, then will you fee increase.
You can set mycelium for different priorities, high priority calculates a higher fee, but will also get confirmed faster.

I am interested, but I am not using this wallet yet and I wonder if I have to look through a lot of code to find the answer.
How can I determine the size of the transmission for a certain amount of BTC sending or receiveing transaction in this wallet?
1052  Other / Off-topic / Re: 2017 Year of the Bitcoin on: August 01, 2016, 01:56:28 PM
If those businesses is going to realize and understand how bitcoin really works as their financial payment method for sure it is going to make their business to go up. And that is going to help the adoption of bitcoin to your area for a short amount of time. Because if there is a store that accepts bitcoin they have something to do with their bitcoins already in 2017.

If a major business accepts BTC as a payment method and is successful with it ( and why would they not be? ), the concurrency will most likely adapt BTC, too. It could start a kind of boom in the given area. So, we are advised to look out for such signs to determine how "good" BTC's position is in our area. I keep this factor important because I have seen people were writing they hope BTC would do good, but what is it like when BTC does well? Two factors may be that the price is up and its position is stable, but also what businesses adapt BTC as an accepted form of payment. I have seen some people pointing this out, already, but I did not see most people understood so I kept it important to sum up and explain these factors clearly.

Are we going to see a new thread stating always the next year as the one of Bitcoin?

2017 might be a tough year. Autumn will tell.

I think, yes, we will always see a new thread about the predictions for next year except if someone creates an universal thread with title "Next Year of the Bitcoin" and then people could write there in any year  Cheesy But maybe that would be a bit difficult to search in because of the many replies from different years.

Why did you write Autumn exactly?  Huh
1053  Other / Off-topic / Re: 2017 Year of the Bitcoin on: August 01, 2016, 09:20:42 AM
As said above, lets wish to have a good growth at the end of this year. The price is stable now after halving. Buying and selling happens now as the price may go up in future to have a good profit and the profit now would be good if we sell the btc we have. Lets all be positive in welcoming coming years with a big growth of btc.

I agree and I add in addition to the arguments why the end of this year is so important to 2017 that most businesses in my area design their financial plans at the end of the year so how BTC will do around the end of the year will have powerful influence how businesses will care about it in the next ( 2017 ) year. Big changes in a financial plan during the year, in my area, are rare so the end of the year's influence will be not just great but long-term as well.

1056  Other / Off-topic / Re: 2017 Year of the Bitcoin on: July 31, 2016, 03:02:41 PM
The greatest question is how stable the price will remain after halving. It may be a bit early to write any prediction about 2017 when we do not even see the end of 2016, but if the price is following the path that it seems to walk on at the moment, we will be able to see more adopters. Instability is dangerous in a business and a wise businessman would advise to avoid it. However, when businesses can securely create their financial plans in BTC, more investment and a thrivinger BTC may will be seen.
1057  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: July 31, 2016, 02:39:05 PM
So, with Mycelium BTC Wallet and a portable device that can run Android, can I create my own "hardware wallet"? I find it awesome.
1058  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Contributor patched versions of Bitcoin Core on: July 31, 2016, 02:35:40 PM
I have not read about contributor built clients before. I find their existence rather exciting, but not that unexpected since most BTC clients are open-source so why would we not build our own clients? So, do you assume there could be such contributor built clients that exceed the features of the master tree?
1059  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycellium Wallet on: July 31, 2016, 02:29:55 PM
Do I understand right you used a different wallet for each transaction? I think, you could import them into one wallet and once you made sure your wallet is secure and has the coins, you may remove the other wallets.
1060  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Do miners need to pay license fees to BS in future? on: July 31, 2016, 02:23:43 PM
Your question comes from the concept of them wanting to run parts of their patented code bits and you assume they could get right to set license fee because of it, right? Well, it does not mean they will own the whole mining so they cannot change the terms of mining on such a scale in the future. Also, it would be against the concept of the free, decentralized BTC network.
