501  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to do with the people who don't like Bitcoin? on: April 01, 2017, 07:41:04 PM
Let us make two levels: a society-level and a person-level. Society level is the general attitude of the society to BTC. Person level is the personal attitude of an individual to BTC.

At society-level, you cannot help it, but you can be sure about the fact no one can stop technological advancement. And BTC is a milestone in that advancement. Even people who oppose it now will have to face it in the future.

At person-level, so when you are discussing with the person, you could ask why she hates BTC so much. Let her tell all the details. Ask her opinion on key-relations if she stops. At the end, she should realise how cool this technology is on her own. There is a large bundle of advantages to tell, but since hatred is an emotion, she should calm down first (= letting her talk until she calms down) and start to use her logics (= ask more about the relations).

You may google all related articles regarding of Patient Privacy and Confidentiality to support your research

Thank you for the keywords!

I am at the middle of this research already.

I do not really need any more full interviews for now, but I still need article sources especially about actual application methods of the technology.
503  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GNT] Golem Project - The world’s most powerful supercomputer on: April 01, 2017, 07:19:42 PM
Very stimulating!

Two questions popped up in my brain in the meantime.

1) Tokens/currency

Could someone list all the ways to obtain GNT please?

2) Integrated Blender

How much stress will it take from the shoulders of my computer to use Blender?

What is the work that the network does and what is the work that my computer has to do to create a HQ project in Blender?
504  Economy / Marketplace / Private healthcare applications w/ blockchain on: April 01, 2017, 07:12:04 PM
This is a demand-analysis. What private healthcare applications would you like to see in the close-future? I want to hear applications that have not been made yet, but you think there is a demand on them.

I am posting my own example as... well as an example Tongue

I have this idea to help people with coeliac disease, diabetes or simply if you are vegan or just want to know what you are taking into your body at ingredient-level.

Quote
There could be an application where we would be able to efficiently check if some products' ingredients were changed from reading the productName-ingredientHash pair from the blockchain. There could be even a mobile app that notifies the patient if the hash of a product that he is using was changed = the ingredients of the product was changed.
505  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Altcoin blockchains that NEVER got hacked on: April 01, 2017, 01:22:29 PM
I want to list some blockchains that have never broke against hacking. Hacking attempts are common, I assume, but I want to know what blockchains have been bullet-proof to them so far. The older the blockchain is and still unhacked, the better. What are your tips?

In return, I could mention the described platforms as being bullet-proof so far in a serious research paper I am writing. That should further increase your favorit blockchain's reputation in the positive.
506  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC models on: April 01, 2017, 01:16:07 PM
I appreciate your reasons, but before moving too far I have to tell I am seeking visual models. Pictures that describe how a blockchain works, but easily without too many details. I will include it in the Introduction page so it has to be a thing that will not scare people off and is understandable to non-financial experts too.
507  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has blockchain ever got "hacked"? on: April 01, 2017, 12:32:23 PM
So, we had this case when blockchain was young. You mentioned that some security improvements were built. How did the exploit get fixed at the end? What was the exact security improvement that got it done?

UPDATE: OK. Found it. Ironically, it was a simple bug, not even some master-scheme. But master-schemes usually use simple bugs, don't they? I am glad because BTC bears the advantage of open-source projects = as it is growing, it becoming more secure as more and more people overview the code.
508  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [EMC] EmerCoin — Innovative blockchain services! ( PoW&PoS - SHA-256) on: April 01, 2017, 12:26:50 PM
Could we imagine something like an ingredient-safety checking application?

Manufacturers would keep the products and their products' public ingredients in their own DBs, but there would be a hash about their data in EMC blockchain.

So, the company would know if unauthorized changes were made by comparing the actual hash of the DBs to the expected.

Also, we would be able to efficiently check if some products' ingredients were changed from reading the productName-ingredientHash pair from the blockchain. There could be even monitoring apps that notifies the patient if the hash of a product that he is using was changed.

Could we do that?
509  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [EMC] EmerCoin — Innovative blockchain services! ( PoW&PoS - SHA-256) on: April 01, 2017, 05:43:25 AM
Financial txs are 300 bytes to 1000 bytes on average.. depends on how much data is put on but small amount is fine.. 5 to 10k would be too much imo is the data anchored to emerchain or is it stored on chain?

These are questions I too am seeking answers for.

Fixx, could you please enlighten us?
Where will data be stored and how much data can EMC blockchain surely handle with acceptable perfomance?

Like I am interested if hospitals still have to keep up their DBs to store data and only management could happen in EMC blockchain or they could simply upload entire portfolio of data into the network.

510  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC models on: April 01, 2017, 05:34:19 AM
Look at this article i find it quite helpful to teach newbies who are completely new to bitcoin.
https://cointelegraph.com/news/the-human-blockchain-bitcoin-explained-without-technology

Thank you! I added it to my bibliography (:

Now, I would need a compact model how blockchain operates. Model has to be compact because it goes into a page where there is some text already. So, it should be able to placed without problems at the end of an A4 page (last quarter or so). Also, it should look clean and easy. What is your suggestion?
511  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Has blockchain ever got "hacked"? on: April 01, 2017, 05:18:32 AM
I do not only mean breaking the encryption but also slowing down the network with some type of stress-attack or attempt to influence it in the bad way. Who has ever tried this and what was the result? Obviously, I do NOT prepare to do such a thing, I am just writing a research about blockchain and its resistance against hacking.
512  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC models on: March 26, 2017, 06:31:43 PM
So, to provide a model of BTC, I could simply provide a model of blockchain. That is actually what I was looking for really.

However, what model should I show to casual users? Because I found there is a large range of models from different views such as end-user view, security view...etc.

Could you link any actual example what you find especially easy to understand (and legit)?

BTC == $  Huh

Haha, Thank You for making my day! I love that one.

513  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GNT] Golem Project - The world’s most powerful supercomputer on: March 26, 2017, 06:27:16 PM
The first milestone for Golem is the Brass Golem, in which there will be a integration with Blender rendering, so 3D artists can buy computing power to render their work.

But in the end i think it's Golem's goal so that basically anyone can buy and sell their computing resources for any use.

That is actually a very cool idea. 3D rendering surely takes alot of computing power. And 3D art is not the only area where 3D rendering is needed. Let us think about the 3D models in healthcare and science. With this technology, doctors could create detailed 3D models and in parallel send it to other experts for examinations.

From EmerCoin's many revolutionary features, what feature would you recommend into Healthcare Sector's attention at the first place? As you may guess, my research is a little bit limited on time and I want to make sure I show something we consider most important among the many super nice features.

I think DPO is most applicable. For example, does anyone want to get a counterfeit medicine? Therefore, the patient has the right to demand the guarantee of the authenticity of medicines from the manufacturer.

I had a little time to scroll-through the introduction and I want to make sure I am thinking the right thing. So, manufacturers could store their medicine IDs to their names to prevent criminals selling experimental products in their names as well as making sure they take the responsibility for their products?

How does DPO scale when there are 1000/second healthcare patients all trying to make updates to their profiles and each of them has 10kb of healthcare data to update? seeing any issue here?

Are not the manufacturers who update their portfolio of products here? Patients could simply read the public portfolio with an explorer. It should not cause a big issue for the blockchain considering how well it works with financial transactions. I am also thinking of that ingredients could be stored next to products so when there is an issue with any ingredient combination anywhere in the world, anyone could see what are the affected products.
515  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GNT] Golem Project - The world’s most powerful supercomputer on: March 24, 2017, 07:59:28 AM
Is there any idea who or how will use Golem supercomputer's computing power? Will it be a "general" supercomputer or will it have niche or niches? Providing supercomputing power is nice, but I think most niches could use some application examples or design-pattern, at least.
516  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BLK/BC) | PoS | No premine | No IPO on: March 24, 2017, 07:56:14 AM
They're good questions. PoS is maturing, ETH is likely to switch at some point. Centralisation isn't unique to PoS, there are many prominent BTC miners with a good chunk of hashpower and then Satoshi himself still has a million coins don't forget! I'd argue the distribution for BLK is especially good given its age and history of trading, so while both PoS and PoW present potential for centralisation, we have that one enormous advantage of almost zero energy consumption (in comparison). Many BTC advocates would cite that as a weakness; the proof of work has to be an exchange of energy for security. Well, BLK is still standing strong for over 3 years purely PoS and have not been successfully attacked, so make of that what you will.

I think the world can cope with both existing and I hope BLK continues to set the bar for a model PoS only coin as it did back in 2014.

So, can we claim that PoW coins have their security depend on energy while PoS coins are secure energy-independent?

Having energy-independence could be a security advantage.

Could you send a few of the articles that back this thought up?

As you may know, I am writing a research including blockchain technologies and I have to compare PoS to other categories.

BLK could be an excellent example that demonstrates PoS advantages...
517  Economy / Digital goods / Re: WTS http://land.space DOMAIN on: March 24, 2017, 07:51:58 AM
If Estibot rates your domain not so good, your domain really is not so good. However, your domain not necessarily worth as much as Estibot estimates it. I can say, Estibot is good at finding flaws that break down your domain s price, but it will not tell how much your domain really worth.

@OP, didn't you ask some real experts like people about your domain's value?

My thoughts exactly. Last time when I discussed the research with my Uni prof, he asked who I really want to help to: hospitals, surgeries, medical researchers and I answered the reason I named target community "healthcare sector" is because a part of this research is to explore who could benefit the most from these technologies. From "healthcare" alot of people associate to doctors and nurses, but Healthcare Sector also includes medicine manufacturers and medical researchers, not so neglectable communities.
519  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / BTC models on: March 24, 2017, 07:34:41 AM
I need Bitcoin models than explain the blockchain.
I want to use these models to explain how BTC blockchain operates to skepticals and newbies. Most people prefer visual constructions.

What is the most easy-to-understand yet legit model to explain BTC?

I will thank the very good replies in my research Wink
