Tried, convicted, spent 14 months in jail, and is still on probation.
A bit more than an IRS witch hunt.

I'd generally let something like this slide if it was a long time ago and has nothing to do with what someone is doing now.  For instance, if he ran a mail fraud 20 years ago and is now accused of robbing a bank, it isn't all that relevant.

However, when someone is running what looks awfully like the very mail fraud they were recently in prison for perpetrating, I am less inclined to cut slack and more inclined to think a leopard doesn't change its spots.
1222  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 1+ free Ripple BTC giveaway - just post address! (Over 455 BTC gaveaway) on: May 21, 2013, 01:10:02 AM
It is all REAL BTC.

Okay.  Where is it on the blockchain?  txid please.

Quote
TradeFortress offered you all a 1 BTC IOU, he said he owed you 1 BTC each. He essentially wrote you a cheque for 1 BTC with an empty bank account. The trust lines he asked you to set, was asking you to extend 100 BTC credit to him, which he could incur in debt.

An IOU in the absence of any consideration is just a naked promise.  Completely unenforceable.

Quote
TradeFortress pays me my 10.15 BTC back, or he is 10000% scamming, deceiving, and foolish.

What 10.15 BTC?  What are you talking about, back?  Show me the txid where you transferred 10.15 BTC to him.  A blockchain url will suffice.
1223  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Forced "On Hold For Refund" for all my Single SC orders on: May 20, 2013, 01:47:46 AM
Oh yay, all the BFL folks can do is call people trolls, douches, and other names.
One thing I am sure of, BFL-minternj would spit in other peoples food. If he could hold down a job as a waiter that is..

About the only good thing about BFL is they can't piss, shit and jizz in an ASIC, otherwise they would (assuming they ever ship).
1224  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: May 20, 2013, 01:44:29 AM
I also hope BFL delivers. Partly because I have a Jalapeno on order, but mostly just to shut up the pathetic nay-sayers in here once and for all.

That has to be the stupidest fucking reason to want something to happen I've ever heard of.

I hope BFL delivers because I don't like seeing people get ripped off.  If I thought like a moron like you thinks, I would hope BFL defaults just to see a loser like you take it in the shorts.

Welcome to ignore, idiot.

corret, and a BTCTalk mod helps Ripple. this is getting really sad...

helping people to avoid a loss of bitcoins.

If you want to demonstrate that Ripple is flawed, just explain, people aren't stupid.

You're making an excellent effort to disprove that.
1226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So, is Ripple a scam? on: May 17, 2013, 09:12:15 PM
I don't know whether it's a scam, though I suppose it could be some kind of premining scam.

It just seems it has a number of serious flaws that could very well be fatal.  I'm staying away.
1227  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: full picture on US MSB regs, state and federal on: May 17, 2013, 09:10:48 PM
My partner Joe Skocilich wrote a fairly good post awhile back about why we don't think that bitcoin is a "security" http://adlervermillion.com/blog/innovation-and-legal-panic%E2%80%94bitcoin/

Ya know, the bitcoin foundation really ought to commission a policy position paper of some sort...

BTC is not, itself, a security.  However, there are people creating and buying and selling items packaged as securities in which the underlying business is BTC-based.  They trade on what are purported to be "stock exchanges."  Some of these are outright Ponzi scams.

Similarly, BTC is not, itself, a Ponzi scam.  However, Ponzi scams exist in which the underlying currency is BTC.

If nothing else, some of these highly questionable products look like some kind of commodities future.
1228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WARNING! Bitcoin will soon block small transaction outputs on: May 17, 2013, 09:07:32 PM
As much as I dislike SD's (and other's) abuse of the blockchain, this is a bad idea.  First, any idea that is admitted to be "temporary" should be suspected of being a bad idea.  Second, IMHO, it is philosophically wrong -- at best a band-aid for a bigger problem that needs a different solution.  Third, it's debatable whether or not this change will alter the behavior of those (ab)using the blockchain.

All good points.  Another reason this should not be permanent, at least without some more thought, is that over the long term, while these "lost" dust amounts are insubstantial, there could ultimately be substantial (and unnecessary) permanent loss of BTC.  There should, perhaps, be some way of recombining these lost amounts into something useful (without costing more than they're worth).
1229  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: TradeFortress is a scammer. on: May 17, 2013, 09:02:16 PM
Where's the transaction on the Bitcoin blockchain where real BTC went from one actual person to another?
That's as stupid as asking someone what the serial numbers on the dollar bills they lost were when someone loses money with a credit card or a bank card or a cheque or something. Do you think the police ask that and then say "well geez no `money` was stolen then sorry".

Bullshit.  Every BTC transaction has a permanent record, which you'd know if you knew jack-shit about BTC.
1230  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Forced "On Hold For Refund" for all my Single SC orders on: May 17, 2013, 09:01:29 PM
You can tell what kind of scumbags BFL are by who defends them:  other scumbags.
1231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So, is Ripple a scam? on: May 17, 2013, 04:44:30 AM
I read the site http://ripplescam.org/, and compared it to my own observations. Everything seemed to check out.
For example, their "source code" that's linked in the footer is just some JavaScript UI stuff.
What are your opinions on this? It's centralized and closed source. But that doesn't necessarily mean it's a scam.

I'm not sure it's a scam but it certainly seems like a dreadful idea.
1232  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: TradeFortress is a scammer. on: May 17, 2013, 04:39:17 AM
Guys, do you understand that for this joke an account lost 1 BTC reedemable on Bitstamp?

Lost another IOU?  Where's the transaction on the Bitcoin blockchain where real BTC went from one actual person to another?

It'd look kind of like this:  http://blockchain.info/tx/678a1eda47d92337246b1dbfe429baf9c6c89fbb0f50d274b0ae7c0078781e94

This is definitely an example of why someone shouldn't do this, at least not with an account with any real anything in it.  Did TF get this?  Is he actually cashing in things from people and turning them into real BTC in his wallet?
1233  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: TradeFortress is a scammer. on: May 17, 2013, 04:36:24 AM
Let me remind you that Matthew N. Wright received a scammer tag on this forum for his trolling that appeared to be a binding contract, lol... And had to settle it somehow with his so called victims, i. e. to pay for it.

MNW explicitly agreed to a scammer tag in the event that he reneged.  His situation is kind of unique to him.
1234  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: TradeFortress is a scammer. on: May 17, 2013, 03:43:59 AM
I don't agree TF is a scammer.  A troll, maybe, but with a purpose.

However, I would agree with the warning not to do this with an account that is associated with anything like real money or real BTC, or if you ever intend to use this ridiculous service.

If it is this trivially easy to game this system, it has serious issues.

Compare to the BTC network.  If the transaction hits the blockchain and gets confirms, I can be absolutely certain there is real money there.  With Ripple, I have 5 BTC of utter bullshit sitting there.  There it is, in my imaginary balance.  I'd never attempt to spend it.  I think it would be fraud if I did.

However, what is it that this system allows me to be looking at a balance screen telling me I have 5 BTC when in fact they are basically imaginary?  That's honesty?
1235  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Forced "On Hold For Refund" for all my Single SC orders on: May 17, 2013, 02:52:42 AM
Friendly Reminder That Butterfly Labs Has No FCC Certification For Any Of Their Products, A Fact You Should Try Taking Up With The FCC

I'd hazard a guess they generate a good deal of RF noise of the sort that would require such certification.  Perhaps under FCC Part 15 Subpart B.    That's just a guess, though.

If "wrenchmonkey" keeps practicing his fellatio techniques, perhaps Josh will allow him the honor of splooging in his mouth some day.  He has something to aspire to!
1237  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: TradeFortress is a scammer. on: May 17, 2013, 02:35:46 AM
That's not a bug, but exactly how the ripple system is supposed to work.  It's not Fake or real bitcoin, it's merely an IOU for a bitcoin.

If that's how it's supposed to work, then it's crap.
1238  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: TradeFortress is a scammer. on: May 17, 2013, 02:31:33 AM
Please identify any transaction IDs on the blockchain that indicate transactions involving stolen (as opposed to completely imaginary) Bitcoin.
See https://ripple.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2552 which points out the bitcointalk.org users that are extracting BTC to Bitstamp.

They only list one transaction, for BTC.0001.  So far, I'm not impressed.  I'm less impressed with the business model that allows this foolishness than I am the trolling that led to me having 5 imaginary BTC in this account I never intend on using.

Hint:  there aren't any.

Really? Because a LOT of your posts bring up Sonny being a "felon" over and over. One of your posts outright stated that they still need to prove that they're not a scam. So again, if you didn't believe that they were a scam, you sure did put a lot of effort into making it appear that you did

Is Sonny Chris Vleisides not a felon ? Again, if I am in error with those facts, I'll be the first to stick my foot in my mouth and apologize. Am I an asshole for raising that point ? Probably. Slow-burn frustration has a way of making one exceptionally bitter on a long enough timeline when money has been put up in good-faith.

I see nothing wrong whatsoever when pointing out that a person who appears to be currently running a mail order scam is, in fact, a convicted felon because of previously running a mail order scam.
