If it was the whole unit for 1000 bucks then it would reasonable
82  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: September 03, 2013, 04:14:29 PM
Any updates on the new order chain to see where our orders fall in the queue?  Thanks.
83  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: September 02, 2013, 05:57:31 PM
So far the main thing that keeps Hashfast competitive is their miner protection program.  If they deliver late, as long as their customers get access to extra hashrate at a low cost, it could still work out despite missing deadlines.  However, we will have to see if they are able to supply the rigs for a reasonable price to use the extra chips.

still waiting for more information regarding their chip and foundry before taking the leap.  I still remember back when Avalon started, they had their TSMC contract for all to see which was great.

any updates on the credit card situation?
86  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: SAY NO TO "PRE-ORDERS"! 2asic.com starts shipping ASICMINER hardware world wide. on: August 28, 2013, 12:10:03 PM
You are still selling them for pretty much double the new price.  100% markup seems ridiculous since you're just reselling it.
87  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Thoughts on the future of mining? on: August 27, 2013, 12:17:59 PM

Personally - I plan to mine as long as possible, ROI or not - somebody needs to help keep the network health an diversified.

This is exactly why we've started https://www.byteminr.com.

Now that CPU and GPU mining over for most people, we want to make sure many people can still take part in bitcoin mining to keep the network diversified. Our intention is provide access to the cheapest power we can (within reason) and best generation hardware so that mining can remain viable for the masses and not just the large investors who are currently putting in many Mil $USD into major infrastructure for mining to try to control the supply of new coins. The network needs diversity.

Byteminr looks like a cloudhashing clone.  You even use KNC miner as well.

Also, all this "Miner Protection Program" is useless since the terms state it is non-binding and we as the buyer have no recourse to any consumer protection since they only take BTC.

Hi John,  I have sent you a PM regarding an escrow order as well.

My batch 2's orange light in blinking now too.  It's still hashing away though.

There is.  Click BTC or LTC at the top right of the screen.

Just bought a copy of Payday 2.  I got my steam code less than a minute after paying.  Thank you for a smooth experience.
93  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Secured payments, consumer protection and buyer recourse... on: August 14, 2013, 04:50:52 PM
People who disagree are likely ones that have barely any skin in the game or are whale enough to get special contacts with the manufacturer.  The internet is an untrustworthy place.  Nobody here is immune - we've seen all kinds of high level "hero" or "vip" members disappear with member's BTC.  People also say do your own research.  With the Hashfast example, short of listening to shill from Cypherdoc, no body with a life is going to fly over there.  Besides, BFL has a physical location where people dropped in many times and what has that got its customers?

The truth is, ASIC manufacturer's bills are in fiat.  None of them pay their suppliers BTC so any argument trying to promote its use is more for their own interest if they have to run.  If they are legitimate, they should decrease the exchange risk for the customer and sell for profit in fiat via CC as well.  Nobody is saying they shouldn't take BTC either, but offer CC as an option as your own damn fiat costs are pretty clear and fixed.
94  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [3] countdown! on: August 06, 2013, 12:52:02 PM
Mine has been sitting like this ever since I got the tracking #, which was created on Sunday  Huh
3rd day without any development.

Sunday, August 04, 2013   Service Area   Time
1   Shipment information received    BEIJING & SURROUNDING AREA - CHINA, PEOPLES REPUBLIC   16:43

That typically means Avalon entered the shipping information electronically to DHL, but haven't actually dropped the package off yet or have it picked up by DHL yet.

any sources?

Thank you.  Looking forward to it.

Just to catch you all up:

Boards are in production - we've asked for daily expedited shipments as they come off the line.   These first boards go to 100TH mine, with August delivery kits to follow.  So I'll repeat that I expect August product to ship by Aug. 31st.  Fab says they can do the whole process start to finish in 20 days and we are on the last step here.

By "in production" I mean the pick and place machines have already been set up, solder masks made, PCBs for both board types were made two weeks ago.  "In production" means the actual assembling is happening.

Turns out we had a few remaining components stuck in customs - these were bits supplied by us and sent to the fab.  If you are following some of the other ASIC build threads, you may have heard about the global shortages for key components in this design.  We tackled this problem months ago in order to avoid running out of power regs and inductors.

The CC payment system is a bit of a kludge - you have to go to my storefront on Square to re-select the same product & quantity in order to get to the CC payment screen.  Its like making the same order twice.  We will reconcile these against the megabigpower.com store, which remains the primary store of orders.  We will ship from our order list on megabigpower.com, so don't go direct to Square.  I hope to be able to re-integrate CC payments using Authorize.net by next week...then the Square thing can go away.

I expect to have boards hitting racks in force by next week, I will keep you posted!

Cheers,
Dave

Hope you can give us an ETA on CC payments working again.  Waiting with mine in hand to order.

That seems a bit unbelievable...but congrats for unloading it on someone that doesn't want to ROI

I was waiting for bitpay to be functional.  Looks like I will have to sit this one out.  I wish Dave could be more open with the pricing policy and have a deadline etc instead of silently adjusting prices without warning.

Dust means they are working.  Bump for price drop.
