1464  Economy / Trading Discussion / The real reason mtgox changed the api without no notice on: March 22, 2013, 09:20:08 PM
I think at this point almost eveyone knows mtgox is slacking and people are pissed about it. Mtgox clear has said that they have just 2 servers for the whole site. The recent api change was to try to push off some of the load, for example any old programs that the dev stopped making but were still active and to put a small but stop some requests.

@mtgox you really dont think when you do stuff, I understand you want to improve your service but changing the api without no notice at all is crazy. You wonder why people get pissed and hate your site. You do things quick and without thinking of how it will affect others. You are the lead bitcoin exchange but you dont act like it.

1475  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: bitcoinity.org/markets - live bitcoin price charts on: March 16, 2013, 11:51:38 AM
right now your site hasnt been updating the bottom chart. it simply makes it went i load the page but after that doesnt ever update it. so the price for example is at 43.9 but the chart of bids/asks shows it at 45

This and some server errors were fixed right away. Thanks for letting me know, and sorry for the problem.

Sorry for lack of updates, I still have some small health issues that are stopping me form spending as much time coding as I would like to.

And thanks very much for all donations, in this month they could actually cover hosting costs, but I'm spending them on Jack Daniels anyway.
lmfao, thanks for fixing it

Edited the first post with a quick layout of how the system would work
1477  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / A cryptocurrency where miners arent required and the blockchain gets smaller on: March 13, 2013, 01:30:40 AM
Hello, I had an idea on how to make a cryptocurrency where miners are required and the blockchain can in theory actully get smaller. At the moment I am working on programming it by myself. I think the prefered lanague would be C# or C++. I know a little C# but not enough to make it by myself. so i would like to get a few people to help me work on the idea and program it.Please contact me if your interested in helping out thanks

well here is a quick little info layout i did to kinda explain how most of the stuff would work.
1 Transaction per 10 seconds
All transactions timestamped

Miners- miners are not required but they simply compress the blockchain
Accecpted compressions are rewarded with money
I sent to bob
Bob sends to jane
jane sends to jim
jim sends to mark
mark pays Me

5 transactions compressed = .5 coin
All compressions must no have happened with in the last 50 transactions

Transactions
Request- Requests the current time
Timestamped-timestamp info gathered by asking 51% of the network( of all the money made) or x

Random address to confirm it + IP address
Confirm-sends directly to IP saying prove you own this address
Relay- Relays message saying your transaction + timestamp
Verification-which ever trasnaction is earlier then ask 51% if it happened

All info relayed is signed by the address

Gox is unusable again.

1480  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why you shouldnt use mtgox ever again on: March 12, 2013, 02:47:49 AM
Up and UP the mtgox lag goes as the price plumments

Mtgox trading engine lag: 583.47s

EDIT:well i had 100BTC prior to this drop and lost atleast 10btc due to mtgox lag. Cant really say how many yet as my order has mtgox lag so it hasnt gone through yet

I put a buy order at 37.05 when the price was there but it took 5 mins for the order to just show up and by then it was to late and now i have to do a instant order which will take another delay of atleast 5 mins

EDIT EDIT

okay well I went from 100BTC to 84.70256785 because of mtgox lag. quite unaccecptable
