Hello devcoiners,

So what is the current state of devtome re taking on new writers?

I was recently contacted by a new member to the forum who was looking to get signed up and I noticed that I am still listed as an admin to sign on new members here https://www.devtome.com/how_to_get_setup_earning_devcoins_by_writing

I loaded up my devcoin wallet and see that I have not received any coins for over 3 years now for any admin work hence I assume I have been removed of my duties and there is no signing up of new users.

Perhaps you could update the information on devtome to reflect this and correct https://www.devtome.com/how_to_get_setup_earning_devcoins_by_writing

All the best

Hey Smiley

Just few words to give an idea for Newpak owners! Those keys are very funny to use (and indestructible), the most big problem is the cooling. I tryed many solutions via fan etc and after 2 years of work Smiley I finally got a good setup!

The solution is : Get out the native passive cooler and replace it by a bigger one! I printed with PLA a support base and this aluminium cooler is cooldown by a 90 mm PC fan... And another fan in front to cool the other electronics chips.

This setup allow me to put a freq of 400/420 Mhz (10 keys)  for a hashrate of 950 Mh/s - 1 Th/s  for 130 watts.

Just wanted to say this is a lovely setup you have running here, giving me miner envy!

Please continue the discussion in the new official thread:

 DO NOT POST SESC LINKS

P.S: Off-topic, SPAM, vandalism, trolling, bullying and the like will not be tolerated

Rat 🐀 Commie the real thread where open discussion is welcome is here.

I am now considering hi-jacking Devcoin since I’ve been invested in it longer than devilguy and I’m not a censor commie.

End the stellar token bullshit and make devcoin great again!  Cool

Devcoin is one of iconic OG coins and it deserves better. Devcoin had a vision and utility few other projects can match even 10 years later. All things have to end, but I would rather see devcoin completely dead then whats going on today.

Then get a real dev that understands the importance of a big community.  Develcuy is a power tripping commie.

That’s the plain truth that’s why people are posting on the old thread.  Free tip:  Get a dev who isn’t a hardline communist.

Agreed, also we had a great dev that was pushed out and felt unappreciated and hence left.

Yup I agree this is way too complicated for 99% of users

@realdantreccia How did you deposit dvc into stellar? I can deposit btc etc through the trusted vendors, adding the dvc asset to your homepage can be done easily enough by linking markm's account https://stellar.expert/explorer/public/asset/DVC-GBHAQ252S4Z4AQOM4BWIRC3UHAOJIKCZQBUJGD336YH2O7W2NKRXMHA5

But there is no deposit link against markm account for dve like there is for btc, eth etc.

I get that this is trading a dvc token which represents the dvc, is the solution here to either setup my own amount of dvc tokens like markm has and see if stellar will link the two as being the same or to trade off stellar chain with markm dvc for dvc token... or am i missing something here?

Fuzzybear

Hey Fb. I just bought XLM and went right to StellarTerm the last time I bought some DVC tokens from MarkM's issuer account. Then I went from there to trade for interstellar.exchange's Eth tokens using the StellarTerm platform to trade.

So you bought dvc from markm's account with the XLM deposited, correct? None of your own personal dvc has left your wallet, or can you clarify how "I bought some DVC tokens from MarkM's issuer account"?

I am failing to see that anyone other than markm is able to actually sell dvc on Stellar? please correct me if I am wrong and walk me through it otherwise dvc cannot be advertising Stellar as a SELLING platform for dvc.

I'm investigating the setting up my own dvc denominated token but if that is the requirement to sell dvc then where is the guide for a non developer person from the dvc community?

@develCuy care to share any info, help or links as your asking everyone to get up to speed but provide no actual info or help to the users sharing their issues, or is this all new to you too?

Found a working direct link to trade the Devcoin token and XLM on Stellar DEX using the StellarTerm website.

Looks like the order books are correct and the issuer is MarkM's account.

https://stellarterm.com/exchange/DVC-GBHAQ252S4Z4AQOM4BWIRC3UHAOJIKCZQBUJGD336YH2O7W2NKRXMHA5/XLM-native

Is there a simple iOS app for that?  Thanks.

Nope Tongue Try Safari for iOS

https://twitter.com/Lobstrco (iOS wallet)

Still way too complicated for the 99%.

Not sure why that’s so hard to grasp for most devs.  Or perhaps that’s the goal.  :/

That's why I'm guinea pigging so hard here...

For instance. Small potatoes but I think I made the first ever sale of the DVC token for interstellar.exchange's ETH token (transaction below):

https://stellar.expert/explorer/public/tx/cbf6381dcacea8acc531d94c42bee1aaa8ce3997b2ab3a6446bd0174ede624ee

You can see that XRP/ETH tokens are swapped on the minute according to the transaction history for the ETH token:

https://stellar.expert/explorer/public/asset/ETH-GCNSGHUCG5VMGLT5RIYYZSO7VQULQKAJ62QA33DBC5PPBSO57LFWVV6P

No luck with PathFinder swaps. Everytime I tried to trade anything issued by markm it said not enough liquidity to swap so I had to go trade directly again. However, since I had little luck with Interstellar.Exchange's swaps I decided to sell my DVC token for ETH token using StellarTerm (link below):

https://stellarterm.com/exchange/DVC-GBHAQ252S4Z4AQOM4BWIRC3UHAOJIKCZQBUJGD336YH2O7W2NKRXMHA5/ETH-GCNSGHUCG5VMGLT5RIYYZSO7VQULQKAJ62QA33DBC5PPBSO57LFWVV6P

The trade went through easily and quickly. The more websites to exchange on over Stellar, the better.

Here is a picture of the trade details after is successfully went through (via stellar.expert and the ETH tokens transactions list - to give you an idea what happens before and after such trades - not a coincidence, automated responses down the line - I feel like making trades no one has yet done helps. I believe Altilly had a DVC/ETH pair but that was with coins, so here's another path forged):

The info given from Antilly is very detailed, and far more than I expected to see from them. It does two things for me personally:

1) Makes it a lot easier to gauge what they are looking for and what DVC needs to help come back on the map/dominate
2) Builds trust in them since they are clearly doing their research

Now, one part that I found a little backwards is the shop info. One of their negatives is that there aren't many/any stores accepting DVC right now, but part of that reason could just as easily be that it's not as liquid right now and shops of most types have their own expenses (i.e., if I'm selling phones at a 5% markup, I still need to get that 95% from somewhere to pay for the phone and restock. If I can't sell any of the coins on an exchange, I can't viably run a business).

Yes Ranlo that was my take from the feedback from altilly, great to see what dvc needs to do and good sign altilly is good exchange and doing due research into each coin.

Regarding the stores accepting DVC, I think this is specifically related to the first post on this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=233997.0 with the places listed accepting dvc as payment.. they are all out of date and dead thus that looks bad so this should be cleaned up if possible or lets start new official thread?

Also there has been no work to get dvc integrated into a multi crypto payment gateway provider. Don't forget they are reviewing all cryptocurrencies like this and payment gateways are a huge step in opening up the coin to non crypto businesses etc. For example https://b2binpay.com/en/cryptocurrencies/coins/

Agreed though one reason could be there are no stores accepting dvc because there is no exchange to buy and sell dvc. But they are taking a risk with each coin listing that it could be a scam or worse and damage the exchange itself.  I have seen it in the past where a coins foundation offer an online shop with token items (coffee mugs, hats, stickers etc all with the crypto logo on it and purchase can be done in btc and the crypto thus offering a place to spend. Is there anything stopping dvc setting up and offering such a shop? It was done in the past as an incentive to mine the coins and give you something physical for the electricity bill and speculation for the miner but has more value now as a sign of the community and support behind the coin in the eyes of exchanges and the public.

A long time ago I looked into getting logos printed on tshirts, hat, mugs, stickers, keychains etc and would not take much cash investment to produce the actual products and stockpile goods for store once you have designs all sorted and ready. (Note this was done in the PPC community and they spent far too long and much money redesigning the logo and rebranding and would not recommend) just take the current dvc logo and drop on a sticker and get 100 printed up in various sizes etc.  This also opens the question of does anyone have the dvc official logo in a high res image and various formats (white background, transparent background, one with text devcoin, one with just logo) and these should be in one place available on devtome or devcoin.org for marketing use and such. Would anyone here want to buy something with their dvc? if so what?

Got the feedback from altilly today as to why is was delisted in 2019.

Was told someone from DVC team can put in an official request for it to be listed on altilly and follow their usual listing process. (has been over a year since de-listing) thus could not strike a deal to get them to relist for free.

INFO FROM ALTILLY:

That is great @FuzzyBear! I managed to contact Altilly as well, via support ticket, then via Telegram. After a month we have finally got  Charles Naughton to visit our Telegram channel: https://t.me/Devcoins, this is the conversation:

We consider BCT  more of an announcement portal but ill check it out.  I have no way to gauge how big your community is on BCT

develCuy, [25.07.20 12:16]
Just seen you shared feedback with FuzzyBear. If you visit the website: devcoin.org, you can find up to date info regarding our community channels, wallets, block explorers and exchanges

The last couple months I updated devcoin.org, so it is now in sync with current information. Also, devtome got a new look and feel. Additionally, I'm always in contact with Coingecko to keep our profile updated: https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/devcoin

As you can see, not just my spare efforts, but joint interest and work from the community is finally paying off. Just keep moving on guys!

Go go Devcoin!

- develCuy

Yup so more feedback from them...

basically they worry the size of the community based on members in the social media groups (telegram chat, discord, twitter followers etc) are too low and there is no community here to warrent listing dvc.

This is mostly because dvc has had devtome and here to keep track of updates etc and there has not been a big social media push to get members to join etc.

If the numbers in the social media groups is correctly reflected from the community here then there is a chance they will consider relisting dvc on altilly.

So community members please sign up, follow, join all the following dvc official channels:

Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/devcoin/
Telegram: https://t.me/Devcoins
Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheDevcoin
Discord: https://discord.io/devcoin
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Devcoin-1384277851835204/

Can we get a breakdown of who controls these also in case any updates are needed or who can make posts and are they still active here? otherwise we might have to open up another official channel or account for something.

Is there a whitepaper anywhere for dvc? @markm did u have anything?

We could also do with a page on the devcoin.org site of the "Team" and their roles etc.

any chance we can update the first post here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=233997.0 as all these links are outdated and no longer active.

But it was delisted from altilly with the reason that there was little to no trade volume...

Was that really the case?

They said that it's usually more than lack of volume, but they didn't want to disclose it publicly. As far as I know they said they'd speak only with CEO or lead dev with regards to (de)listing.
But I don't know if anybody actually spoke with them after they made that clarification? Maybe @FuzzyBear exchanged some private messages with them?

Nope I had no PM contact with them re delisting, when i asked every time i was told it was through lack of volume, but agreed I thought it was a little strange as yes trade volume on ltc pair seemed higher than others...

Fuzzybear
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: July 14, 2020, 07:11:06 PM
Actually i'll start with this link to previous post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=233997.msg29680751#msg29680751 (2018) topic of exchanges was discussed and a lot of work was put in back then so worth bringing those learning points up.

So Devcoin is currently listed on FreiExchange here: https://freiexchange.com/market/DVC/BTC

and it was listed with BTC, LTC, USDT and a whole host of other coins on https://www.altilly.com/

But it was delisted from altilly with the reason that there was little to no trade volume. Should not be much work for them to add the coin back but would probably need to chat with the exchange owners to make this happen. They do now have a listing fee also, in the past I got dvc added for free as they were early starting exchange.

With this experience it is only worth an exchange listing dvc if there is any volume.. that means buying as well as selling dvc... and consistently, not just one or two trades and then nothing for weeks and months. The fact that dvc on altilly had pairing with ltc and others and that their exchange is open to trade in fractions of a satoshi against the coin means that as dvc is pegged at 0.00000001 on FRC with over 0.6 btc needed to buy up all the cheapest dvc just to start a buy side support, we need a listing like altilly and not like freiexchange.

The fact that dvc had a listing on altilly and lost it through lack of trading volume was and is so disappointing but in truth probably reflects the market for dvc, very few want to buy it even at such low prices and very few looking to offload any real large amounts unless the price goes up...

Any of those mentioned exchanges that have a listing fee over 0.5btc you can forget about for now as simply where are you getting these funds from? We tried to rally or see if the community would donate but it a lot to ask and no one came forward last time.

Also is this the best use of the BTC to list on an exchange when dvc was listed and has been de-listed what is stopping it being delisted and then that btc is gone and wasted. Might be better to use that btc to rally the current price listing on freiexchange.

I have been here before, and found te best way to get listed is to find a small exchange that is starting up and get dvc listed for free like on altilly after speaking with the people that run it. This is a much better way to get listed and cost nothing as they looking to try adding new coins but you run the risk as the exchange is new and possible scam etc so you have to do the leg work and get to know the people running the exchange and open a dialog up with them.

Quite simply anyone not on linux CAN'T... no windows binaries, no mac binaries..... sorry to reiterate the point but develCuy by doing this release u have effectively made dvc inaccessible for many people. This will send people away, this will make people loose interest and get frustrated as I am now with the coin.  All this also after u have funnelled all the funds from every block into The OpenSource Fund (OpenSourceFund) and pushing people away from this coin like the lead dev a while ago whilst you implemented The OpenSource Fund (OpenSourceFund).  You have pushed forward without consulting anyone else in the community about the new release and just given a deadline to upgrade clients.

If you do not find someone to produce you binaries for windows and mac I am failing to see what you are bringing other than chaos and dvc siphoning off to this long term project and I would suggest to the community to vote and have you removed from any admin roles in dvc.

What is the current block height?
What is the upgrade rate of peers on the network?
What is a working block explorer to examine the health of the network (that is NOT hosting expired)?
What was the purpose to upgrade to the new client.. what was fixed / changed? any changelog?
Where are the binaries for mac and Windows?
Who has control of the OpenSourceFund wallet that is getting all the dvc shares? 1KKZGDL56sHrZefZWw2p61x1z3qzyNAUDJ (there is over 200 million dvc in there now) that now more than my holdings and I have been here since 2012 earning little bits slowly over time...
Have the details of the client upgrade been posted to https://www.devcoin.org/ and new binaries uploaded?

If you can not answer these questions and provide users with all they need to upgrade then the upgrade should not have happened.
IMPORTANT: If you are the sole holder to the wallet address mentioned in the last point then I feel we have been scammed as a community by develCuy and I really dont know what to do as that a lot of dvc just waiting to be dumped on the market if it ever rises to have a value.

Fuzzybear

Fuzzybear,

I'm so much disappointed by your attitude. I understand that you have your disagreements with my decisions and I understand that you don't trust me. But, calling me a scammer is something I can't tolerate. You are defaming me because you think that I MIGHT do something! Do you realize that you can think what you think because I publicly reported what I'm doing? I'm transparent with my decisions because that is the right thing to do, not for being defamed by people like you!

What are you up to? You must publicly apologize for your false accusations!

- develCuy

P.S: "After the battle, everybody is a general"

I accuse you as you have broken the windows builds for user with no thought about how this will affect users and the coin.

I look back on your actions and i still stand by all my questions which you answer none. These are actions you HAVE DONE so it is not speculation on what you might do.

Seriously just answer my questions and clear the concerns...
over dvc funnelled into an account only you control or not?
Binaries that are non existent for windows and mac and how progress is being made to rectify this?

why would u ask for an apology without actually answering the clear and fair questions that have been asked.  You show the signs of someone trying to divert the conversation away from the accusations by not answering them.... this is something that scammers and fraudsters do when put on the spot. I said the community has possibly been scammed...maybe scammer is the wrong word as it implies pre-meditated thoughts and plans to achieve the end goal... right now you are clearly acting incompetent and solely in your own interests and it is damaging the network and coin. Why would i not speak out?

My server that was known as dvcstable01.dvcnode.org is still running and is also known as LFM.knotwork.com, and still runs all the many and various coins it has been running all along.

Existing nodes should work as they will have it in their peers lists, some coins let you add peers while they are running others need them on the command-line when you start them or in their config file if you use the config files.

Thanks for that Mark! We have got from you a full new year of the main seed node available for old Devcoin wallets!

Everybody, still I recommend you to upgrade to Devcoin 0.8.7 for better network resilience!

Hello everybody,

We have good and bad news. The bad news first of course. We are discontinuing the use of our main DNS seed node, due to lack of funds. For that reason we are staying with the fallback DNS seed node. Not only that, the consequence is that all releases from 0.8.5.0 and older will loose the ability to sync with the network. We forecast that all nodes using old Devcoin releases will break 5 days from now, so the deadline to fix your node(s) is May 21st!

Soooo, we have a new release (yeah, a FULL realease) ready! Please find the detailed instructions to cook your new wallet here: https://steemit.com/busy/@cpol/how-to-compile-your-very-own-devcoin-wallet-in-ubuntu-18-04

Are you able to offer windows and mac binaries?

Fuzzybear

No. Months ago I asked the person suppossedly on charge of Windows and MAC binaries to help, but I got no answer, so I removed the ongoing shares for that position. Rather now I prefer to have tutorials similar to @cpol's, so that people can cook their own wallets in Windows and MAC.

- develCuy
That works for linux as generally u can do everything u need through the terminal. Have you ever built a cryptowallet on windows?? it really is not a simple process and similar on mac.  http://web.archive.org/web/20130821030414/https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=149479.0

Really do need to offer all the platform binaries otherwise it is restricting the entry level to just get a wallet and people will not bother or be turned away from dvc, or worse yet someone who has dvc can no longer access if old versions of dvc are not going to work / sync

I used to make builds for windows and mac as part of the linux build as you can cross compile but it has been many years since I did this but details are here https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/blob/master/doc/build-windows.md

I would STRONGLY recommend that these binaries are released as well otherwise it will have a negative impact on the dvc network.

Fuzzybear

Would you like to build the Windows and MAC binaries for a bounty?

- develCuy

Problem is I do not have the hardware anymore i used to build them on and you can not do it with virtual machines or server droplets (something to do with needing to do this on a non virtual machine as u create VM when building the binaries if i remember correctly).  So I would need to go out and buy a new PC to be able to do this. Also an offer of DVC bounty is not very enticing as there is no where to convert it to $$ so I could buy the hardware.  A BTC bounty would go a long way here.

This is to announce my resignation from the DevCoin Project. The primary reason for this decision is because of my strong and vocal disagreement in the handling of the recent STEEM fork and my account's power down on both the STEEM and HIVE blockchains. My main focus with the DevCoin Project, of late, has been with #DevSTEEM so my position on the fork would not reflect well on DevCoin.

It has been my pleasure to have worked with you all over the years on such an altruistic project as DevCoin. Do not doubt for a moment that much good has come from it.

Yours truly,

- Nova
Hey Nova,

Sorry to hear you are wanting t resign from devcoin project. Sounds like issues with steem and hive. You have brought a lot to devcoin over the years and I for one greatly appreciate all you have done for the community and coin, thank you Smiley

Watching the Justin Sun/Steemit saga in the past few days has made me wonder if its really the value of devcoins that Justin Sun is trying to badger into to be able to acquire Devcoins.

Links for the noobs?  Thanks.

@Nova: I think they were after a more direct link to the info about "Justin Sun/Steemit saga" rather than a link to steemit itself.

Basically the guy who owns TRON has his eyes on steemit

Hey everybody!

Round 103 is finally here as of block 412000. It was a smooth round in regards to operations. All active file custodians synced on timely manner. Kudos for that!

Now lets do some numbers to demonstrate my point of view in regards to inflation, or effective inflation if you prefer. Devcoin core is setup to ~10% yearly inflation since inception. But things aren't that simple anymore. Since the Devcoin Foundation controls 90% of the newly generated coins and we have most of them sent to cold wallets, inflation has drastically reduced to %0.5. I hope that this motivates HODLers to start spending their Devcoins, since they control huge reserves. In the other hand, the Devcoin Foundation should keep its funds frozen as much as possible. So we need to keep our very low profile budget to keep operations working at minimum cost.

Ideas?

Go go Devcoin!

- develCuy

Srsly wtf are you high
We cannot spend DeVCoin anywhere and no more exchanges left.  Coin is left to ruins.
Ideas?
Fix wallet.
Get exchanges.
Help get more miners.
Stop strangling DeVCoin with joke stockpile so market can work again.

Gotta say I agree with unicode.03C0 here. SOOOOOOOOOO many things to fix and sort out first.
What pools mine DVC?
Anyone here actually mining dvc in merge mining? if so how and where?? any guide, I had a request for such a guide or help but there is no current relevant information out there.
What exploits and bugs that have been fixed in btc codebase that exist in dvc that have not been fixed?
New file custodians have been obtained to prevent issues that arose by 2 people not uploading a file in time and what else has been put in place to mitigate this issue so it doesnt happen again?
What are the current bounty programs that are open and available and how are those going?
What is going on with devtome? has there been an admin audit for the roles that admins are being paid for and a public announcement of this?
Do the current bounty offers promote the current needs for dvc?
Why did Altilly exchange delist dvc? anyone reach out to them? Surely this would indicate the serious underlying issues with the coin as seen by an exchange....
Is it the volume is too low and needs more trading? Is it that there is no official developer leading the codebase? is it that dvc has vulnerabilities that need to be fixed in the client?
What is going on with the telegram dvc channel? and other social media outlets? twitter account? when was last time any post made of actual use? discord channel?
What incentives have been made to encourage anyone with dvc to spend it? but take a step back...
Where can I spend my dvc?
Where can I sell my dvc?
Are there ANY open orders to buy dvc?

NOTE: Vircurex  was hacked back in the day. nothing wrong with the volume of trades, back in the day there were buy orders on there up to 100sat and lots of depth in the market.  Nowadays no one is buying dvc with any serious volume or has any btc to put up as a buy orders, be realistic with your expectations for those that have holdings.

If you really want people to sell their dvc then put up your own money / btc for it on the exchanges? If it too risky for u to invest your money then why would anyone else? If you dont have any money to put up then sounds like u are wanting this to be your get rich quick scheme now that 90% of new generated coins are going to foundation u control or at least have access to and just waiting for price to go anywhere as hard to go lower than 0 sat.

Also are you saying that by diverting 90% of the newly generated funds into the Devcoin Foundation you have reduced the inflation rate for the coin.... there is a big difference between Cold wallets and Burn addresses. IF you have sent the new generated coins to burn addresses then yes you have decreased the inflation for the coin as those coins are NEVER coming back. If you have just sent them to cold storage then the coins still exist and can be accessed, sold and used etc thus they are very much part of the inflation rate calculation??

20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Partial fallback reduction on round 102 on: February 04, 2020, 10:46:23 AM
Hey everybody,

I have to inform that round 102 started with the already known fallback reduction, which happens when file custodians aren't in sync. This time we have learned something knew, as soon as the custodians are in sync, the network goes back to normal, producing 50k new Devcoins per block. The fallback reduction started on block 408000 and stopped on block 408322, so we have 322 blocks with the penalty.

What was the cause?

In the first place I found that one custodian synced too late, again. For the safety of the network, we need a new file custodian to take over. In the second place, two file custodians were affected by a miss-configuration in the DNS, which forced redirection to HTTPS, this is a known bug that has been fixed already and is included in the latest release of Devcoin core. It is very well known that the world is deprecating HTTP, so we are now forced to upgrade our nodes to the latest release, or at least patch them with the HTTPS fix. More info here: https://github.com/devcoin/core/issues/77 At the time of writting, 20% of the network is running Devcoin 0.8.6

Let's make round 103 pass smooth!

Go go Devcoin!

- develCuy

Had a PM basically blaming me for this and asking me to step down my role as custodian so I may be kicked from the community... been a fun and enjoyable 8 years and sorry to see it end like this for a file that took me just over a week to upload. If it that crucial then need MORE custodians to help not less. some very backwards thinking going on and I can suddenly see why ctya was having issues. I will stop everything immediately if I do leave as there is no point when the fun has stopped.
