At the time of this post, I think they had only just won the e-bay auction for it, and it was still in shipping. Judging by the recent photos of the ASIC boards, it looks like their pick-and-place machine and over are operational. At least enough to create aesthetically correct looking boards. Just have to wait and see if you can run current through them with any sort of desired results.

The timeframe was close, Rassah, but...

Dear ShadowOfHarbringer,

Usually I don't respond to unfriendly posts, but maybe this one needs a bit of addressing. We've had the honor of having Sonny in our corporation
for the past year. He is a bright and honorable person who had come face to face with strong forces behind the scenes without knowing. Many movies
have been made to try and demonstrate how governments and lobbying powers operate. They can kill, sabotage, prosecute or pretty much do anything
they desire without consequences as they have the power, money and weapons to make their point.

The United States Government does not recognize international bounderies when it comes to its interests and demands. The attack on the PirateBay
servers in Sweden is a good instance. Should the owners of PirateBay been Americans, I'm sure they'd already been serving for life in some prison in USA,
under charges of money-laundry, tax evasion (ads on the site), child pornography and so on and so forth. It's easy to hurt people who are powerless.
Even in France this may happen, eventhough on a much smaller scale ( I can't recall any at this point ).

Regarding whether we are a scam or not, the several thousand shipped units can speak for itself. We've used the experience gained in mass production of our singles in our SC production cycle (we've got a MyData Pick-And-Place and an Oven for high-speed and high-volume inhouse assembly). Someone mentioned the backlog is already 5,000. On a production speed of 500 units a day for instance, 5,000 will only take 10 days. We've already prepared the infratructue for very high volume production, since the great portion of the orders will come in after the SC is released to the public. 5,000 units is not much compared to orders we expect to receive after SC release, so we're very ready for it.

I hope this message has addressed some of your questions.

Regards,
Nasser

Nasser's quote was from September 21, 2012, 03:55:49 AM.

The auction ended at Sep 28, 2012 08:20:35 PDT http://www.ebay.com/itm/ESSEMTEC-RO300FC-REFLOW-OVEN-/320989507198?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4abc772e7e&nma=true&si=mAWggEYKpH4g2H7aZLAFESK6gGA%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

The item was listed on the September 24, 2012, with the 10 day Buy it Now Option, thus purchased on the 4th day of when it was listed. Proof here: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:MmvMm15qTFcJ:www.ebay.com/sch/Manufacturing-Metalworking-/11804/i.html%3F_nkw%3Dreflow%2Boven+&cd=3&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

In the quoted text above (in bold), Nasser speaks in the past tense as if they already own and are operating the reflow oven for assembling.

That's the only point I was trying to clear up.

~Bruno K~

But where does "We've used the experience gained in mass production of our singles in our SC production cycle " indicate that they gained that experience in their own production facility?

I don't know who actually makes the boards but Josh said:
"we will not be using the SMT equipment to process our first batch of boards; we will be using the same house that did the pick and place for our previous generation products, which means we're still at the mercy of someone else for our first batch shipments. "

First batch will be produced outhouse by the same company that made their fpga  and mini-rig boards. And I hope not by hand  Shocked

Spreading fud based on assumptions isn't really showing any knowledge on or interest in matters either.

So would I get a discount for also being an ex-con?

Don't think so, but you can always ask the various asic mining equip producers. Oh wait, it was just another little fud moment, right?
345  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Is ASIC's a SCAM? on: October 23, 2012, 11:47:14 AM
i have heard many people saying that Butterfly Lab and the other manufactures who make ASIC's is a SCAM

and this could be true because there is no proof than even ASIC exist and no one has even has a picture of a ASIC

what you you all say about ASIC's?

First open your directory to learn the definition of ASIC.

Then continue reading those threads about BFL.

Hint : If I had purchased a BFL ASIC I would be tempted to discourage others to do the same and if I had not I would be jealous and would not be willing to accept the truth.

what truth. Huh Huh Huh.explane please.. i only need some facts ..

If you check the two picture you can easely see that the seposed jally board is excactly the board in the SC pic 90degree turned and fixed with some les parts mounted on the board just look at them for 5min compare and you see that i am right thats a fact it,s the same board only a day less worked on...they really suck .....
I think I see a difference on the side where the usb connectors are, minirig-board has a barrel type connector and a usb one, where the jalapeno prototype board has a (mini)-usb plus a usb one?

no way it easely bin made that way i m not here to troll BFL but this is again no evidence and it IS the same board even the letters are sandpapered off.. but just keep giving your money to this pithole .....
bfl said: "The second USB port is there in case your computer can not supply enough voltage over the primary USB port. It's kind of an added extra insurance and is micro-USB so you don't accidentally plug it in instead of the primary USB which will be used for power and communication.

Both ports can be swapped out for other power related components should we need to change the connector type to something else."

Just take a look at forums.butterflylabs.com - its full of trolls, asshamsters and deluded people.
Well well, if it isn't Frizz23 with his personality disorder. AKA troll BFl_Mitt, now BFL_Obama on the ButterFly Labs forum, and now here as BFL_Lab_rat, and Frizz32 of course. Have you cancelled that BFL order yet? Oh wait, you just made that order up, didn't you? So, who is the diluted asshamster troll now, Frusty32?

Among other methods mentioned, I think one of the best ways to keep yourself anonymous is to use a mixing service to help sever any ties to previous bitcoin addresses.

You mean like TOR?

I'll be getting a 54GH bASIC from BTCFPGA.

Do they have a confirmed delivery date?

Well.......
I've seen ASIC cores available for SHA256, available from a number of vendors (telicom/etc), so it is certainly a viable solution.

But having looked at their production facilities & equipment(shown in various photos), and having over 25 years of manufacturing under my belt... I can say from what I have seen that it certainly does not appear to be a professional manufacturing operation.

Also the name "butterfly labs" may indicate a Chinese background.

Certainly I think these guys could be a little more forthcoming WITHOUT actually exposing any business secrets (show us the business registration/tax filing etc), but again that may just be down to a lack of business training and experience.

I have also done a bit of reading up of all posts by these guys since my last post, and I have a fairly shrewd Idea of how they may have implemented the algorithm.
Lets just say they appear to have gone for speed over the opportunity to re-purpose the ASIC, but that would tend to leave them open to any mistakes in the algorithm.

The other 'issue' I have is that there seems to be a sudden flood of manufacturers offering ASIC options, all about the same delivery time & about the same thrughput.... which tends to make me a bit suspicious as to the source of the ASICS

I just wish I'd paid more attention to bitcoins when they came out, because with my contacts and manufacturing exp. ,I could have been ahead of the game.......

What might be interesting........., is that every one who has places an order via "bank funds ", lets us see if its all the same bank account or if it is multiple banks.
BFL outsourced their production sofar, and will do so for their asics line for the first and maybe second batch too. So read up a little on the current status of the asic producers, instead of asking the questions that have been asked here hundreds of times? Spreading fud based on assumptions isn't really showing any knowledge on or interest in matters either.
351  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buying ASICS on: October 21, 2012, 12:35:50 PM
Ordered a 40Gh/s single sc early August (well, actually ordered 6 jalapeno's, and upgraded those to 1 single when BFL upgraded them from 40 to 60Gh/s). I understand now that there is no way anything will be ready to ship before the end november block halving, I even wonder if BFL will ship before btcfpga does, the last one claims shipping will start the week after thanksgiving. I do know the last one has less orders, and is likely to ship new orders made now sooner than BFL, wich is flooded with orders.
But this is all speculation, since no company has ever given actual dates of when, only estimates, wich in BFL's case, have changed from sept/october to october/early november to november/december.
Be prepared for disappointment, in relation to the (roughly) shipping expectations made by all companies.

Because you can make more money selling the equipment for a profit. And its riskier to mine than sell the equipment..

Yeah it "will" but it hasn't yet.

Right now that 30,000 rig will take 50 days to pay off.
Why the fuck would you sell something that will make you $30,000 in 50 days, and cut off your own profit? Say they're not being dicks, and they're making a decent margin, they're paying $20,000 for the rig that's $30,000 thats $10,000 profit.

I feel like I have to respond before something thinks what he wrote is true. The 30,000 rig will take much more than 50 days to payoff unless you are the only person in the world with the equipment. The difficulty changes every 2016 blocks, so within a few days of the first batch being received difficulty will rise by a factor of 4 (the maximum it can change, see the wiki article on "target") and will continue until it reaches steady state. your 50 days has now become 200 days a few days after receiving your rig, and will probably settle at somewhere around a year or more in the end.

Stating that BLF wont be "the only personcompany in the world to have them"?

Edit:

I'm just saying, why wouldn't a company use this, make a shit load of cash, forcing the blocks to be harder, in turn forcing people to buy their products?

Explain your logic, good sir? $30,000 in 50 days is more profit than $10-20,000 in 1 sale.
But it doesn't take 50 days to make and sell one. Say they make 1 a day, and sell it, that's $10,000 to $20,000 (to keep your estimated profit per piece) a day, so profit is in producing and selling fast, while people still see a roi in it.

I can't be from the psu, psu's don't have capacitors sticking outside the casing. I was asking coz that c. is in a rather strange position, stressed by the yellow cable's wrap.
If that is a red led burning, just above the blue "ultra" thingy, there is still power on the board (psu standby power?) I hope you did not change memory or vid.cards while this light was on, you might have had something shorted.
355  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: I think I fucked up on: October 18, 2012, 11:48:04 PM
That capacitor on photo 3hn, just where the yellow wires come out of the black wrapping, is it still attached to the board? You did attach a power lead to the vid. card (assuming that it needs one)?

That capacitor seems to be connected to the PSU, no idea why
that one;

They must know what they are doing, since they are taking so many back, and for the same price they sold them??

Half the price they originally sold them for, and 1 for 1 basis, they're not stupid.

I've always wondered if the NSA would be buying them to get them out of hackers hands, I know I would, if I was bothered about national security. Grin

I assume they could also be used to crack bitcoin wallets too so not good for the bitcoin system either to have all this reprogrammable hashing power out there.
Half the price? A BitForce Single is $599, they give a $600 return for it, when buying a $1299 SC for $699.
Or was that Bitforce S. ever $1200?

Bedankt, nog net op tijd want ik dacht dat ik al aan een paar 8Gb sticks voldoende ruimte had, zal er minstens een 16Gb bijkopen. De link geeft me trouwens een "404 -not found-" error!
359  Local / Nederlands (Dutch) / Re: Windows of Linux, hdd, usb stick of flash memorycard? on: October 17, 2012, 02:45:01 PM
360  Local / Nederlands (Dutch) / Windows of Linux, hdd, usb stick of flash memorycard? on: October 16, 2012, 11:20:19 PM
Goeiedag, allereerst.
