341  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Jumps Above $4,800 for the First Time on: September 01, 2017, 06:24:41 AM
According to data from CoinDesk's Bitcoin Price Index (BPI), the price of the cryptocurrency hit a high of $4,802.74, before falling back to levels seen over the past few hours of trading.

it is not really called "falling" though. it is the normal fluctuations where price goes up and down in small increments. and as long as it takes 2 steps forward and 1 step backwards we call it a rise in general.

and yeah it is great, this rally is not going to end this soon. we are just getting started and in the following months we will continue to see the bull market and hopefully the SegWit2x issues don't cause a big bear market for us.
342  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: litecoin on: August 31, 2017, 11:25:00 AM
litecoin is the only coin apart from bitcoin that i have been holding for a long time. i actually believe in its future and i speculate a lot more rise for it. $40 was the new bottom for this coin and it has started rising up.

after activation of SegWit on bitcoin, now we are looking forward for its Lightning Network and as soon as it starts up on both chains and becomes more popular you can see the famous Atomic Swap which allows you to easily swap these two coins for each other.
that is considered a great news and can be the start of LTC rally.

Do you really think anyone is going to use segwith and the lightning network on Litecoin? There is barely any adoption for segwit on bitcoin...

i don't "think", i look at facts only.
SegWit has been being used on litecoin ever since it was activated. it is also being used on bitcoin but since the new versions of each wallet is not yet released it is not being used as much. and this is a time consuming process you can not expect a change in a couple of days!!! it will take at least 6 months to see a large number of SegWit transactions.

and lightning network is currently being tested and there has been some wallets in beta released for it so that people can use it on LTC and it is the same team and the same code for bitcoin.
343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins/ICOs gaining more attention from mainstream investors. on: August 31, 2017, 11:14:02 AM
No, Not really.

just some Chinese people jumping on the pump and dump train to make profit from trading is far from "mainstream" investors coming in altcoins and specially ICOs for investment. i could see them investing in altcoins but never in ICOs. the mainstream investors know better than trusting ICOs even if there are 1 in a million good ones.

and we all know that Chinese have always been big investors that milk any opportunity to trade as much as they can until it is dry and they have made alot of money from its pump and dump.
344  Economy / Speculation / Re: Tulip Bubble & Bitcoin on: August 31, 2017, 11:07:10 AM
it is good to be cautious when it comes to your investment and be aware of the bubbles and their deffinition. you should always have it somewhere back in your mind.

BUT you should also not forget the fact that people have been calling bitcoin a bubble and the comparison with Tulip bubble is nearly as old as bitcoin and each time someone compares these two, bitcoin price continues rising and they go silent until some other time to repeat the same thing again.
345  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ASK] Can I Issue A Token In ETC on: August 30, 2017, 01:48:09 PM
Just Asking
Can I Use ETC For Issue My Tokens
If Yes Why There is No Popular ETC Tokens?

you can do it, ETC is the same ETH platform but without the rollback fork of DAO disaster!

and the only reson why there aren't any popular ETC ones is because those issuing their tokens on ETH want to get paid in ETH which is the pumping coin that gaines value because of it so they can earn even more money out of their thing.
346  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What do you guys think about the NEO dip? on: August 30, 2017, 05:14:53 AM
it has 2 main reaosns:
1. it was pumped hard and it needed to come down. so the dip that we see here is the result of that, and also there is the panic sell because of a dump that started because of the ATH of it.
2. bitcoin price is rising again, and each time bitcoin price goes up, the altcoins get dumped hard like this.

but pay attention because just like a huge pumpe has a big dump after it, the same way a huge dump like this has a big recovery after it too. which means price will reverse and come up when it reaches the bottom.
347  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Has Alts Market bottomed out now? on: August 29, 2017, 05:37:38 AM
From their all time high bubble back in spring/early summer?
no it has not yet bottomed out, it is just starting to drop.

Quote
Will we ever see Alt Market ever reaching those all time highs again or even higher? If so when do you guys think this will happen?
we will see the same rises, yes. but don't expect the same All Time Highs ever again. pumping most of these altcoins will be impossible and with their dumps they will go even further down which makes the recovery even harder.

Quote
It is really confusing because Alts seem to be bottomed price out from that earlier bubble but Alts market cap is at all time high now? Can someone please explain  Huh
it is because there are thousands of altcoins and each of them have milions or billions of supply and that makes the total market cap be bloated for no reason!

Quote
When segwit 2x FUD starts in 2 months then Will alts follow bitcoin price?
if bitcoin gets dumped, like always altcoins will get dumped even harder.
348  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What do you think about these altcoins for long term investment on: August 29, 2017, 05:22:42 AM
because people want to increase their bitcoin holding and not their fiat holding and that is why they only choose to trade altcoins with bitcoin and nothing else.

the ether markets you saw don't even have enough volume most of the times. nobody cares about them anyways, sometimes people do some arbitrage trading like that but nothing more.
349  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: (BCH) Bitcoin Cash: 8 hours 1 block on: August 28, 2017, 03:49:27 AM
I like this joke , I don't think it should has the third rank on coinmarketcap.com from it's born. I also don't think BCC is a fork of BTC, it's just an altcoin.
I am willing to see what choices will  BCC miners make.

this joke is much better than most shitcoins though, so the positions is good enough.
and also it is a fork of bitcoin. many altcoins are fork of bitcoin. coins like litecoin, dogecoin, bitcore, and lots of others have been forked from bitcoin.

It's going to carry on like this for another few months.

this is what i am afraid of too.
it is not just bitcoin cash chain that they are harming they have caused a lot of problems with bitcoin mining too. and as long as it is alive and as long as its price gets pumped there is the same risk all over again.

LOL you and theymos got it wrong.
LTC etc is neither a fork or a clone.. but more like a "port" or even better.. a "mod"
It is like the EOS ICO ....ported from Bitshares.
Yes this key distinction matters.

a fork means when you copy the code from another project and make a couple of changes. that is the programming deffinition of the term. and that is exactly what Litecoin and DOgecoin and all the others did.

there is nothing wrong with that though. as long as they are improving the code.

besides you can see Charlie lee's history always talking about changes to bitcoin like faster blocks and stuff like that. and nobody accepted his changes, so one day he forked bitcoin and made the changes he like to it and released lite-bit-coin.
350  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: altcoin market on: August 28, 2017, 03:33:22 AM
Coin Market Cap has a list of about 1000 alts and still there are some not listed in there
https://coinmarketcap.com/all/views/all/

it is a lot more than just 1000, there is next pages on coinmarketcap.com which shows more. and also there are coins that are not listed there because for example they are small or shady or scam, or even nearly dead.

and also if you add the coins that existed before and now are dead the number is much bigger than that!
351  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pros and cons of Wallet.dat and Priv Keys on: August 28, 2017, 03:22:42 AM
I prefer taking multiple printouts of paper wallets and storing them somewhere safe. I don't prefer exporting the backup in wallet.dat format, as the chances of someone stealing it is quite high.

But doesn't the wallet.dat file keep it encrypted while paper wallets lose the encryption?

you can also encrypt what you print out. it is not really that hard either. you just use a tool such as bitaddress.org to encrypt your private keys with BIP38 and then print that encrypted text out.

and if you want to make your life easier when you import it later in the future, add a QR code of the same text to your print so you can scan it in the future

353  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: what do you think about my portfolio? on: August 27, 2017, 11:55:22 AM
My portfolio is:
BTC : 43%
Gbyte: 10%
DASH: 24%
ARDR: 4%
XMR: 9%
Waves: 4%
STRAT: 2%
ETH: 2%
Others (Pivx- POSW-INSN): 2%

I will keep between 40 - 50% of BTC, it is a longterm portfolio (mini 5 years)
Any advice?

i personally don't do the portfolio thing but i like yours a lot.
i would maybe choose abigger percentage for bitcoin.
the Byteball one is a very good choice and with its upcoming airdrop the more you have the more you will gain.
i don't agree with the choice of Dash though. maybe reduce it a little because it is high risk investment.
and about Monero, you should be careful it is entering bubble teritory.

the rest looks good to me.
354  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Weekly Analysis: Will It Break $4500? on: August 27, 2017, 11:37:29 AM
i am expecting 2 scenarions:
1. price will start rising fast again and breaks $4500 and reaches near $5000 and even breaks that too.
this is what i mostly expect to happen. and the market is also very ready for this to happen.

2. there is always the possibility that it goes up to near last ATH ($4400ish) and tries to get near $4500 but fails. and that causes a sharp drop down to $4300 again and this process of rising and barely touching ATH and dropping continues for the next week.

in any case if the ATH broke i have no doubt that $5000 will be tested.
355  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / (BCH) Bitcoin Cash: 8 hours 1 block on: August 27, 2017, 11:27:33 AM
right now bitcoin cash has officially turned into a big joke!

first there were rarely 1 block every 2 or 3 hours, then things became better and normal 10 min on average was the time between blocks.

then they reduced the difficulty to bring in more miners and ended up with 1000 blocks in 1 day.

now miners have left it one more time and there is nearly no block being mined any more.

the other funny thing is that the 1 block after 6 hours (the last block in the above pic0 is only 748 kB big.
you'd think after 6 hours it would be fuller !!!!
356  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My error on: August 26, 2017, 10:34:48 AM
when i started using bitcoin i was all regret that why didn't i buy bitcoin when it was like $10. but eventually i stopped this nonsense regretting and feeling back. that is not healthy. instead you should start thinking about what you should do NOW.
we will always be buying above some previous price but this current price of our time will be the low price of some day in the future.

when price reaches $10,000 you will come back here and say if i bought at $5000 i could be a millionaire by now.
357  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why compare BTC to USD? on: August 26, 2017, 10:10:30 AM
i agree with the above poster, it is a very common thing in the world to talk about the value of stuff in USD when you are talking globablly and we all know that bitcoin is global so we need some unit of value that is more global than JPY, CNY or even EUR.

if i say bitcoin is 7000 CNY majority of people will have to open up a website to convert CNY to a currency that they can understand if 7000 is big or small. but if i say bitcoin is 1200 USD majority will know i am talking about 8 months ago.
358  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum early warning on: August 26, 2017, 09:59:24 AM
ethereum will go back to its normal price of $10-$20.

Can you further expand your statement? How will it go down to its starting price and when will it be? I don't think it can go down that far as to its starting point anytime this year.

I think that is just wild speculation. He does not know the answer.

He don't have some proof can prove his warning is right, I think this thread just by the mentality momentary of him. The price of Ethereum in today has recoveried to 0.08 from 0.05x in past days.

first of all price is currently struggling at 0.076BTC and not 0.08BTC.
secondly it is not up from 0.05 instead it is down from the 0.14BTC which means ethereum has already lost half its value and it is still struggling hard.

don't just look at the couple of hours or 2 days tops price. you should look at the bigger picture of how ETH is currently in a bubble and how it has been struggling to get pumped again.

don't get me wrong, i hope more than anything that ETH gets pumped hard, i want the profit more than anyone but i can't see it happening when i look at how it is struggling.
359  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Suggest some good Altcoins for longterm investment!!! on: August 26, 2017, 09:48:37 AM
Which is the best Altcoin for long term investment, which can rise 100 to 1000% in near future?? does DOGE Coin have good future??

there are currently a lot of topics discussing Dogecoin and why it can not have a good future. you can read them here and in short it is mainly the huge supply of this coin.

and as for long term investment in altcoins, it is not such a good idea in my opinion, the long term performance is never good. i think it is best to stick to 10x 100% rise and gain a total 1000% rise instead of invesing in something and hoping it goes up 1000% and that thing never does!

but among all these alts if i had to choose i would choose Litecoin. because it is known that LTC moves up after bitcoin rises and now that they both have SegWit this rule is more obvious.
360  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin cash a threat for bitcoin on: August 26, 2017, 09:41:11 AM
i don't think it is exactly a "threat" to bitcoin but bitcoin cash is and will continue to be the source of a lot of issues for bitcoin for a long time to come. we saw one effect of it recently with what they did with the miners and how they gave up mining bitcoin for a short time and caused a part of this huge back log of unconfirmed transactions.
