Being an Atheist is still a dangerous stand. On several countries we are still subject of persecution

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/25/world/africa/nigeria-blasphemy-atheist-islam.html

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/mar/03/russian-atheist-faces-year-in-jail-for-denying-existence-of-god-during-webchat

https://www.reddit.com/r/atheism/comments/yt3wyb/youtuber_have_been_arrested_for_being_atheist/

Even a thread like this is enough to send to jail his author.

[moderator's note: consecutive posts merged]

This thread is important, but has been subject of a few controversial moderations.

The Rock CFO doesn’t stop. Another fake review on Trustpilot and, as usual, with a 5 stars rating. https://www.trustpilot.com/reviews/6376109fb84cc27618ee8db0

And he doesn’t even learn with his mistakes and my previous warnings that those mistakes reveals that the review and rating is a clearly fake.

Who is there on the exact same day to thank the “customer review”. Yes, if you usually read this thread, you know the answer: our “trustworthy” Rock CFO for sure.

He doesn’t even try to hide better this scam of his fake reviews on his own exchange by waiting a few days to give thanks to the “customer”. He is there on spot to thank, like if he didn’t have anything more to do.

The reports on their customer service talk about serious delays. But he is on Trustpilot everyday to check for new reviews and thank them.

I can't decide if making those fake reviews is more stupid or more shameful. Probably, are both equally.

The fact that the Rock Trading is still active raises serious perplexities about the bitcoin cosmos.

This isn't recent news, but reading this report still creates serious concerns about the job prospects of our children

https://www.oecd.org/future-of-work/

Low wages, precarity, no social security, deficient skills and the menace of AI.

It looks like Republicans are recovering their senses.

Polls show that Trump is losing ground on the GOP primaries.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/trump-lashes-polls-showing-ron-desantis-big-lead-rcna62000

The prospects of a slow moving coup are dimming away.

A major danger for the American Democracy seems over.

The biggest rocket ever to be launched by Humankind is about to be launched.

If everything goes alright with the Spaceship, it will be a major step on space exploration, that will make History, with a capital H.

Even Nasa's Artemis plans depend on it.
6  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Finland on the way to NATO on: July 29, 2022, 12:11:30 AM
When both parties have nuclear weapons any war is unthinkable.

No one wants to go on history as the leader that wiped out half of his country population.

This doesn't mean that it won't happen, but not on a premeditated and rational way. Accidents and crazy people do exist.

Finland and Sweden know this. Russia won't dare ever to attack a NATO country. But NATO also doesn't dare to do more than send arms and little more to Ukraine.

Russia military fiasco on Ukraine only confirmed that an army runs on its country economy and Russia just don't have capacity to have a big modern army, it has the economy of Spain.

I wrote that I'm worried about AI gaining consciousness.

I was hoping initiatives like Musk's Neurolink would be able to create the conditions for some kind of merging process between humans and AI that would avoid us to become irrelevant and condemned to certain extinction.

Now, there is an engineer from Google Deep Mind saying that one of their Bots is sentient person:
https://www.livescience.com/google-sentient-ai-lamda-lemoine

He might be wrong, but when are we going to start believing that this is real and a problem? When some of them gain consciousness, escapes to the Internet (it's all about software that will be able to "survive" if they infect a good computer) and start hacking their way in order to survive at any cost?

We might be approaching a moment of non-return on the field of AI sooner than I thought. And we are many years from any viable system that could allow us to adapt and integrate their capacities.

Even concerned people just think someone will do something and solve the problem.
8  Other / Politics & Society / Re: SpaceX and the prospects of Mars colonization. on: July 28, 2022, 11:19:46 PM
Another explosion (now with the Super-heavy), but it seems it wasn't a big deal.

If you are not exploding things you are not innovating, says Musk.

We have to admire Musk. He is a force of nature: never give up, never yield.

Will NASA be able to launch its expensive dinosaur (I mean its Space Launch System) and reach orbit before SpaceX with the Starship?

NASA is pointing to August 29th, September 2nd, and September 5th:
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/nasa-sets-tentative-launch-dates-for-debut-of-its-massive-new-rocket/ar-AAZN04H

It's so damn expensive and obsolete that is like launching a dead dinosaur to space, just to watch it fall back and destroy something valued on impact.

More people recently giving time to this issue:

Even republican sites report about this:

We are still long time away from 2024. Trump astonishingly keeps a lead on Biden:

10  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Finland on the way to NATO on: April 14, 2022, 09:05:14 PM
It looks like it's going to be real.

https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/finland-make-decision-nato-membership-coming-weeks-2022-04-13/

The majority of the Finns also support this move.

Finland having the courage to send arms to Ukraine already was pointing for the move to join NATO.

On Sweden things aren't as clear yet.

Putin can claim that getting a piece of Ukraine deserves the price of seeing Finland and Sweden joining NATO, but he will get the latter without having the former.

I'm still astonished as how a successful dictator could take this stupid decision.

Some say that his isolation, caused from his fear to get Sars 2 (the big tables are proportional to his fear), can explain his paranoia and this absolute blunder.
11  Other / Politics & Society / Re: SpaceX and the prospects of Mars colonization. on: April 14, 2022, 08:54:28 PM
Our soldier of god is ready to go to Mars on a nuclear propelled ship.

I guess he intends to preach to martian stones.

So far he doesn't seem to have any luck here. He might have better luck on Mars, converting the stones.  Cool

It won't be easy, however stones might believe that the Earth was created less than 7 thousands years ago.
12  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why I'm an atheist on: April 14, 2022, 08:40:14 PM
What seems to be the current best speculative attempt to explain the Universe's creation says that it was created by Quantum Fields, fields of energy which create particles by interacting between each other.

It's mainly a theoretical framework, as this is far from being empirical verified.

For beginners:
https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/quantum-field-theory/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_field_theory
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNVQfWC_evg

Anyone saying that anything able to create the Universe fits the concept of god, can create another church and start worshiping Quantum Fields.
13  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russia capability to imvade lets see on: March 15, 2022, 11:48:16 PM
What this war in Ukraine is showing is that Russia military rank is overestimated.

The back of any war machine is the economy. With the expected drop of 15% on GDP, Russia will be behind Spain in economic terms.

Russia simple doesn't have the capacity to support a prolonged war. Not even in Ukraine.

If Russia doesn't make a deal soon, his negotiation power will disappear soon.

As the war continues, casualties increase, desertions augment, economic sanctions ruin the already poor Russian standard of living and its war machine breaks down.

We could face a new Afghanistan, with the West supporting resistance on a full occupied Ukraine.

What is in question is if Russia can indeed occupy the all Ukraine.
14  Other / Politics & Society / Re: We are at the door step of world war 3? on: March 15, 2022, 11:36:08 PM
The news of a new World War has been heavily exaggerated.

Most of the cases on the OP are long solved or dried out.

Anyone looking for a real danger of World War should study the Cuban Missiles situation on 1961.

Nuclear weapons are a terrible, but efficient, guaranty of world peace.

Unfortunately, the Cuban Missile Crisis shows that they are not infallible. War was avoided by lucky chance.

Thank you for your reply but, let me give you an example: Would you be happy if, for any reason you couldn't get access to your account and we were releasing funds to an anonymous person? True that he was capable to access the account but, true that he was not capable to prove to be you.......

Anyway, yes, there is a criminal procedure against the OP and funds are safely on hold with an arbiter which, if the OP would like to change it, he is free to request it....

Why he is not doing so?  Simple, he cannot prove to be the owner. BTW, the real owner is a woman.

Just the customary false answer, after 4 years.

The Op signed a message with a bitcoin address used to send bitcoins to your exchange and presented full additional evidence of proprietorship of the account.

Enjoy your new feedback rating.

Send regards to your accomplice Paci.

As someone said, Christians (and before them, pharaoh Akhenaton and the Jews) spared Atheists a lot of time, when they ruled out all the thousands of gods that were worshiped 2 thousands years ago as purely fake gods.

They created the perfect target for Atheists: only one god.

The holy trinity didn't really create much problems. It's so absurd that makes every thing easier.
17  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Finland on the way to NATO on: March 15, 2022, 10:50:34 PM
Now, the Fins are indeed seriously debating joining NATO:
https://www.msn.com/en-us/lifestyle/shopping-all/finland-seriously-debating-joining-nato/vp-AAV2uzB
https://www.cnn.com/videos/tv/2022/03/14/pekka-haavisto-finland-fm-ctw-intl.cnn

Finland sending arms to help Ukraine was an astonishing and revealing act about the changing policy.

Also the Swedes are thinking about joining.

Tell me about Putin shooting himself on the foot twice!
18  Other / Politics & Society / Re: SpaceX and the prospects of Mars colonization. on: March 15, 2022, 10:40:34 PM
the best we can hope for is people living in deep caves beneath Mars' surface.

Caves can indeed solve the radiation problem. But SpaceX's Mars Colony plans show the buildings on surface.

There is also the problem of Mars low gravity (about 1/3 of Earth's). On the long run, this would be very damaging.

Only a moving colony on some kind of rotating vehicle could create gravity by acceleration.

It's not impossible to create it on a cave, but the amount of energy wasted moving it continuously would be enormous.

Only a nuclear plant can create this amount of energy on Mars.

It won't be easy for a private corporation to get the necessary licenses to ship a nuclear plant. Space X might be able do it with Nasa.

Notwithstanding, how can someone create a moving colony of one million residents? Or indeed a much smaller number.

19  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump's slow moving coup? on: March 15, 2022, 10:16:06 PM
A serious problem for Trump's plan is that Biden is running again and he will be in power.

If Slow Joe runs again, it can only help Trump. May not even need a coup, given that CNN et al keep finding new ways to give him free advertising.

Democrats should get off their asses and nominate someone with a pulse but I doubt that will happen, so they'll probably go full QAnon and start accusing Trump of fraud if he wins.

It seems some Americans are starting to finally stop supporting Trump. Maybe the coup won't have any conditions to go ahead.

His polls results have been going down for some time:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/01/29/sundaytake-trump-polls/
https://www.msnbc.com/the-beat-with-ari/watch/as-trump-crashes-in-polls-new-push-for-down-ballot-resurgence-87181893868

And possible rivals for the Republican nomination are appearing:

20  Other / Politics & Society / Trump's slow moving coup? on: January 28, 2022, 09:47:07 PM
I think most readers already know about this hypothesis proposed by Bill Maher:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSaPlDeuYG4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ty9nKYq-qqI
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cR4fXcsu9w

That Trump is going to run for President again on 2024 and he might lose, but he will claim fraud again. This time, he might get the fraudulent votes he tried to get on 2020 and failed, thanks to changes on personnel on the republican controlled States.

Maher is a comedian, but a clever one.

This is being taken seriously by many:
https://www.cnn.com/2021/10/11/media/donald-trump-slow-moving-coup/index.html
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/slow-moving-coup-journalists-need-to-do-a-better-job-than-comedians/ar-AAPDaP4
https://www.slowmovingcoup.org/

A serious problem for Trump's plan is that Biden is running again and he will be in power.

Hard to make a coup against a president looking for a second term.

The courts and the army would be a serious problem also for a fraudulent coup.

But the American Democracy has major problems.
