1641  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Timelock bitcoin method on: January 05, 2020, 05:55:07 PM
It could become obsolete before your time lock will end, rendering your BTC lost.

you must be confusing timelock transactions with some sort of ticking time bomb Smiley
time locks are always a time after which you can spend the transaction output until eternity. there is no such time lock that would force you to spend the coins "before" a certain time or else lose it.
1642  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Closing Price On 2019? What do you think this year 2020 will be? on: January 02, 2020, 05:26:33 PM
exactly right now it seems like the whales are trying to take advantage of the holidays and try to push the bitcoin price as much as they can before everyone comes back from their holiday to the market and start buying up bitcoin.
other than that i can only expect rises to begin in 2020 and start it all in January so we may not even have to wait that long for the start of the next bubble.
1643  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Post Your 2019 Success Stories Here on: January 02, 2020, 04:51:47 PM
i guess the biggest success i had in 2019 was that i finally got around reading more about bitcoin transactions and learn more about bitcoin scripts which was something i always wanted to do but have been postponing it because i was busy and the topic was complicated.
but i eventually got around to it and not only learned about scripts, their types,... but also learned a lot about signing transactions that have different scripts and SIGHASHTYPEs.

oh and 2020 is the year i will start doing the same for lightning network.
1644  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin still bigger in 2019 from all other Commodities on: January 02, 2020, 04:34:03 PM
first of all from the start of the year's price that was $3200 to the end of the year price which was around $7300 is a ~130% rise not 100% since your other numbers are accurate to 1% this also needs to be accurate.

secondly bitcoin is not a commodity even if some government say so. it is a currency and it shouldn't really be compared with commodities.
of course i don't think you'd care. you are just filling your website with clickbaits Wink
1645  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Thought I got scammed but now what? on: January 02, 2020, 04:03:21 PM
it sounds to me that they scammed you first (when you send them the money as investment to give you profit) and they liked how easy it was. now they are trying to scam you again with a new shinnanigan and gain access to your web wallet!

the only thing you need to give them so that they can pay you back your investment+profit is a bitcoin address and nothing more. there is no activation,...
a bitcoin address that you create using blockchain.com wallet will start with 1. the address must be generated by your wallet not with something someone else gives you. it would look like this (the following is my address as an example):

1646  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2020 Bitcoin halving!!! Bull run??? on: December 31, 2019, 05:29:42 PM
the only thing that the market needs is a kickstarter to simply enter the bull market overnight. it will start by a moderately sized rise at first which will take a lot of people who haven't been preparing or were falling for FUD and waiting for drops, by surprise and then the FOMO begins as all those unprepared people jump back on board. the holidays could also make this more intense as if the price starts rising early in January a lot of people would come back to see the big rise and then FOMO even harder.
then comes the halving hype and with all the rises that has been going on we can even see the ATH be very close by then.
1647  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could this be a bullish sign as halving approaches? on: December 31, 2019, 05:05:34 PM
Hashrate, though, is often seen as the better market number to watch in order to truly evaluate Bitcoin adoption, and recent hashrate statistics indicate that adoption continues to grow.

lol. you are wrong on both parts Cheesy
hashrate has never been an indication of adoption. of course since it is rising after the price rises you can use it for that matter but it wouldn't make any sense.
secondly hashrate has not have any growth for the past 3 months at least. it has been stable just as price is staying in a fixed range.
1648  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2020 will be a material year for crypto. What do you think? on: December 31, 2019, 04:46:06 PM
i don't think 2020 is going to be any different for cryptocurrencies than all the previous years. the only small change (which still is the repetition of the past) is that when bitcoin price starts shooting up in 2020 we will start seeing a lot of cryptocurrencies come out of nowhere and be pumped for a little while before dumping again.

as for bitcoin, its development is an ongoing thing. and it will continue as 2019, and all the years before. LN started 2 years ago and it has been growing. all other proposals such as taproot, schnorr,... have also been developing all this time.
1649  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are there any trading chat rooms? on: December 31, 2019, 03:56:43 PM
Correct especially if you want to know the opinion of other people but just take note that not all of them will tell the truth for sure, so instead always do your own research and don't let other people dictates you, but there were also few crypto experts who really aims to help newbies, but still it's also risky as they are not telling everything they know.

it doesn't matter how much you try not to believe them and how much you try to differentiate between lies and truths. joining these types of chat rooms is going to always be a dangerous move because eventually you will get brainwashed and start believing the lies and make bad decisions such as panic selling or buying some shitcoin that is already pumped and get dumped on.
1650  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Seed phrases, Private/Public keys, xpriv and xpub on: December 31, 2019, 03:40:04 PM
A Seed phrase is a collection of 12, 18, 24 words that are used to back up a wallet address. The words are generated using BIP 39 standard from a collection of 2048 words.
In electrum, you can get custom number of words as seed key. Don't know about other wallets & I am not certain if it has any limit; I have generated seed key with 15 words seed(extending 3 of custom words of mine). When we generate seed in Electrum, click on "Option" & put a tick on the popup box. In the next step, you will be asked for your custom words. As same, you will be asked for putting your seed & the custom words when you do verify the seed key at the second step.

this has nothing to do with the number of words in an Electrum seed. your actual seed still has the same 12 words as always. the only thing you did was that you used a slightly longer "salt" than normal to generate the master private key from your seed. and for that, there is virtually no limit as salt can be extremely long.

as for the limit of the number of words itself, since we are basically converting a random entropy of certain sizes with padding (the checksum) to words, there can only be fixed set of fixed number of words: 12, 15, 18, 21, 24 corresponding to 128, 160, 192, 224 and 256 bit entropies.
1651  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does anyone recognize this address? (Titan Bitcoin) on: December 30, 2019, 05:07:49 PM
Yes not rocket science BrewMaster. Just wondering if the OP actually HAS the coin , or ......?

i also have that doubt but i have seen tasks that seem simple to me were hard for others (and vice versa) that i try not to judge people fast.
1652  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does anyone recognize this address? (Titan Bitcoin) on: December 30, 2019, 04:38:29 PM
nobody else should ever have the redemption code except the owner of the physical coin and you can only access this code by peeling off the security seal at the back.
check out the titan website for more information.
it seems like they have produced two types of physical coins. one that has the key on it already:
https://www.titanbtc.com/how-to-redeem-private-key-titan-bitcoins/
and another one that requires a 2FA and has a redeem key instead of the private key itself:

1653  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price in January 2020 will touch 10k, What do you think? on: December 30, 2019, 04:30:44 PM
As per several news and analysts ,
Bitcoin will touch 10k in the month of January.

you can't just say "analysis" and not include any of it here! readers want to know who has analyzed this and where was it published? there are too many random newbies making guesses and calling it "analysis" that we don't trust anybody anymore.

that being said reaching $10k is not really that important. the more important resistance that we should look for is somewhere between $8k and $9k. or it may even be $8k itself depending on the market mood. when that resistance is broken then $10k is like drinking water because of the big FOMO that will be followed...
1654  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will YouTube launch it's own cryptocurrency. on: December 30, 2019, 04:20:10 PM
no!

any big company located in US has to be super crazy  to attempt creating their own cryptocurrency after what happened to Libra (the facebook coin). all the drama and all the attacks from all sides that it is receiving is a lot of headache that nobody wants.
by the way just because they removed a bunch of crappy crypto related videos which were either scamming or misleading people doesn't mean they want to create their own coin.
1655  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Question for me and others? on: December 30, 2019, 02:08:15 PM
Can I ask in every post for getting some merits from people at the end of the post line?

that raises the question of why do you (as someone who claims to be new here) wants merit so badly? is it so that you can rank up fast and spam more on this forum?
if that's your goal then i have to say based on my observation people who take this strategy end up being perma banned within a couple of weeks tops.

a better approach is just being here naturally and not truomg to take the stairs to the top two at a time.
1656  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: MIner Question on: December 30, 2019, 02:02:42 PM
IMO if someone attempt to make double-spend attack, most likely they would try to fool multiple parties and using multiple identity (e.g. deposit smaller amount of Bitcoin with multiple account on exchange rather than make a huge Bitcoin deposit to smooth the attack).

splitting millions of dollars into smaller sizes is so hard and it also needs to ge as many people involved as the victims. not only finding that many victims accepting such still large amounts is hard but also it means more legal action against the attacker. nowadays with all tracking that is done specially in exchanges it is not easy to get away with that kind of scam.
1657  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How Exactly Does Crypto Arbitrage Trading Work? (guide) on: December 29, 2019, 01:56:23 PM
According to me, arbitraging is a thing of the past now. These days traders have become more aware now and so there are rarely any opportunities left for arbitraging.
Even if a lucky trader finds a place to arbitrage, then the duration of arbitraging would be really short and hence most traders don't get in at the right time.
It's good to know how arbitraging works but it's kind of becoming an old thing now.

another problem that has turned people away from performing arbitrage trading is lack of alternative exchanges for altcoin trading that they can easily use and trust.
right now there is only binance that remains big and has not YET scammed its users. the rest have either turned into scams like yobit, bittrex, poloniex or are bad without volume that makes them unusable.
1658  Economy / Speculation / Re: What happens to BITCOIN next ? on: December 29, 2019, 01:19:38 PM
the problem with TA is that it is purely theoretical and in most of the times it is far from the reality. for example in this case the number you have come up with as support and resistances are theoretically correct but realistically wrong.
what happens is that right now there is no reason for any more drops. there is a very strong buy support and also previous attempts at manipulation dumps failed hard as price bounced back up fast.
as for resistance, all we need is a tiny momentum to see mid 2018 be repeated and in a blink of an eye price reaches something like $13k again with a nice FOMO.
1659  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: MIner Question on: December 29, 2019, 12:34:00 PM
^^ the thing about  51% attack is that it can only be considered an attack and also be profitable if it is accompanied by an actual double spend otherwise just replacing an already mined block with a block the attacker mines has no benefits with the same exact transactions has no benefits.

when speaking of profit you first have to factor in the cost. and since the cost of 51% attack is in the millions of dollars the transaction that is being double spent must be worth millions of dollars.

now that we establishes the tx value we have to think of a trade that involves a transaction worth millions of dollars and the other party doesn't ask for a high number of confirmation such as at least 30. such trade does not exist in real world. nobody has ever made such a transaction and only accepted low number of confirmations ever.
with that kind of high confirmation requirement the cost of performing a successful 51% just shot up into billions of dollars instead.
1660  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Coinomi Wallet - Looking For Honest Reviews on: December 26, 2019, 06:25:10 PM
Closed source? Get coins out, and uninstall. Don't support this. It goes against Bitcoin, as a movement, and as a philosophy.

i don't think people are using this wallet for "bitcoin", they use it for the very large number of altcoins that it supports which gives it an edge compared to other wallets.
otherwise if there existed any other wallet similar to Coinomi that supported this many altcoins AND were open source then i am sure nobody hesitated in switching to it.
