1681  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Python and blockchain how to start? on: December 22, 2019, 11:11:16 AM
learning python to do things in blockchain?

it depends on what you mean by "things". it can be from creating useless ICO token to building an entire cryptocurrency from scratch and everything in between such as creating a wallet. and each require a different level of knowledge and also they involve different set of topics.
1682  Economy / Speculation / Re: ❄️ BITCOIN : winter is coming? by 𝓜𝓪𝓻𝓬𝓴𝓿𝓼 𝓡. 𝓐𝓬𝓴𝓮𝓻𝓶𝓪𝓷𝓷 ❄️ on: December 22, 2019, 10:51:42 AM
Yes I could hold my BTC in safe and I would have profit in the long term (2-3 years) but in the meantime what do I do? Which is why I decided to risk 15% of my capital in a trade and 35% of my capital in altcoin (in spot) the remaining 50% I am holding.

that is a good strategy and i am doing the same thing but these percentages are terrible for my taste. the altcoin market has a huge risk compared to bitcoin market thanks to the fact that it is very easy to manipulate it and most altcoin exist only for manipulation and nothing more. on top of all that, whenever bitcoin price makes a sudden move we see a big altcoin dump!
which is why i prefer a much lower percentage of my capital being risked in altcoin market.
1683  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am meeting with an attorney, have you been damaged by wash trading on binance? on: December 22, 2019, 10:19:27 AM
don't mean to be insensitive but it is a bit weird that you are mad about something as meaningless as "wash trading" while in the altcoin market (Binance specifically) there are at least half a dozen pump and dump cases happening every day.
1684  Economy / Speculation / Re: December’s Significance for Bitcoin: All-Time Highs and Bearish Bottoms on: December 19, 2019, 01:31:31 AM
I would definitely expect that Bitcoin's price may go even lower after the time of this writing.

this is the main reason why the market is always so volatile and also why the whales keep getting bigger. people keep thinking that just because there was a small drop like 5% it should continue going down for no reason!
the reality is that most of these drops are unrealistic to begin with so there is no reason for the drop itself to happen let alone for any further drops. that is why we saw price bounce back up above $7k again even though there is a huge amount of panic in the market!
1685  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrencies: A (Crazy) Decade in Review on: December 19, 2019, 01:21:11 AM
in fact Bitcoin is speculative because it's decentralized - if it was something like a stablecoin managed by a company, it would be very centralized and tightly regulated, so there won't be any free market.

All cryptocurrencies/tokens are speculative right now because they're not being used (comparatively to other solutions that aim to solve the same problem, albeit not in a decentralized way). I don't think decentralization inherently has anything to do with how the entire market is speculative. Investors/traders are speculating that Bitcoin and other DLTs will have a real-world use case that will drive their value in the future.

there is a big difference between calling bitcoin speculative and altcoin/tokens speculative.

when you look at bitcoin you can see that it has been used as a currency for a very long time and in thousands of different places both online and offline. the payment processors are processing billions of dollars worth of bitcoin transactions, and that's just processors we have no data from those merchants that accept bitcoin directly!
so when you say bitcoin is speculative, that speculation is about  future increasing success and adoption of bitcoin.

but when it comes to altcoins and tokens that have no usages and have never been used for anything anywhere other than exchanges, being speculative in that context means being something people gamble on.
1686  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Venezuela & The Bitcoin on: December 18, 2019, 01:32:32 PM
it is obvious that bitcoin adoption is growing everywhere and that means more trading volume on every exchange that you look at in any country around the globe.
but the small rises or even small spikes that sometimes we see in localbitcoins volume is not something to get excited over and start an article about specially when you convert the volume to another currency you are more familiar with like USD!
when you look at the volume in Bolivar it looks big (209 billion) but when you convert it to USD or even BTC (607 bitcoin) then you can see how small it is in comparison with volume elsewhere.
in fact when you convert it to BTC you can see there is a big decline in the volume compared to the beginning of the year!
1687  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Merkle tree of transaction exists in raw data file or just in memory? on: December 18, 2019, 01:07:21 PM
Each block contains many transactions. In raw data, these transactions are organized like a tree or just flat array of transactions ?
in an array. each transaction comes after the other like a chain.

Quote
As my understanding, the transactions are stored like array in raw data, and bitcoin cline will build a Merkle tree for these transactions in memory. These Merkle tree , actually a group a hash value, are not written into file. Just in memory. When the bitcoin client quit, the Merkle tree is released. They are not saved in raw data.
when a node first receives the block it has to first build each branch of the merkle tree to get to the root and then see if the hash of it is the same hash that was included in the block header (that is the only hash that is stored). then it is discarded after verification (no need to quit).
1688  Economy / Speculation / Re: Happy "to the Moon" annual on: December 18, 2019, 12:58:24 PM
At a time like this two years ago, we reached the moon with an increase of $ 19,xxx, after which we passed a harsh winter during the year 2018, bringing the price back to 3xxx, so we can return this year by (1/3) of the rise at the $ 6,000 barrier.
Happy Remembrance and I hope to visit the moon next year.
Wrong thing here that majority is expecting the same thing do happen every the same time of the year.Lots of people hopes been burned down when price of btc didnt increase out on last year 2018
and now we are seeing an another repeat of events which do signifies that market condition wont really be the same year by year but at least we are seeing some light on next year halving event
but i just dont like to see those exaggerated speculations like 500k-1M price per bitcoin.lol

i wouldn't say majority. there are of course a lot of people who think the price should rise by the end of the year and at the same time there are a lot of others who think it should drop!
the thing is that at all times there are people who keep expecting the same thing to be repeated even if it has happened only once in the past like expecting drop by the end of the year!
as for $500k-$1mil, you have to remember that $1000 was also considered an exaggerated price back in 2010 not to mention $20000!
1689  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You selling to buy Xmas gifts or using bitcoins to buy Xmas gifts? on: December 18, 2019, 11:13:04 AM
Your presumption are totally right because most cryptocurrency holder and investors usually sell some portion of their coins when it this season but doesn't mean the whole downtrend happened all because of that.

you should never make assumptions just because price made a certain movements. if you look back at the previous 10 years only some of the years price dropped and the rest of the time price has been rising.

so unless YOU yourself have sold bitcoin to buy gifts you shouldn't assume others are doing it.
1690  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: ARBITRAGE - is it still PROFITABLE? on: December 18, 2019, 10:53:35 AM
What do you think, is it still possible to profit from arbitrage or are bots doing it nowadays?

bots have always been doing it and it has always been profitable but also at the same time risky. and the biggest problem with arbitrage is that unlike normal trading, the chance to make profit is very limited so when there are more people doing it the profit decreases and the losses grow.
since nowadays a lot of bots are messing up the market, i don't think it can be profitable enough to be worth trying anymore.
1691  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Any legit websites to earn bitcoin fast without a withdrawal fee? on: December 18, 2019, 10:32:44 AM
ask yourself this, why would anybody give huge profit with no withdrawal fee to anybody just because you leave your money with them? there is only one reason for that: to scam you.

the only viable option (not just for bitcoin but money in general) is to invest it in a real business and then get small amount of profit as that business works and earns money.

for example in bitcoin world there are exchanges, payment processors, mixers, gambling games,... and a lot of other businesses that sometimes need investors. most of them don't do it publicly and not with small amounts but sometimes there are legitimate businesses that do it.

bitmixer was a mixing service that allowed people to invest and receive some profit. it is closed now. there may be some new mixers that need investors.

there are some gambling sites that let you invest in their bankroll BUT you will lose money if the house loses which makes it a weird investment in my opinion.
there is one called freebitco.in that doesn't have that risk and pays a small profit.
1692  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Some thoughts about wallets. Random thoughts from Dave. on: December 18, 2019, 10:18:23 AM
Release a genuine wallet, have the auditors examine it and state that it's all clear, become evil, keep updating as normal for a while, maybe have a second all clear audit performed to build even more trust, release a malicious update, steal coins.

it is worth keeping in mind that risks aren't just about security and having your coins stolen. the bigger risks is usr privacy being invaded. a closed source wallet may not be stealing your coins but it can easily gather all kinds of information from your wallet and sell that!
for example Windows is closed source and Microsoft is not stealing your money but it is obviously gathering a lot of information by invading your privacy and abusing that.
1693  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin support levels on: December 17, 2019, 04:47:33 PM
we are getting closer to the end of the year and the year-end panic is upon us right now and with the latest drop that we had, all the buy supports are mostly out of the window the funny thing is that it is the same for all the resistances. we are yet in another unpredictable situation.

with that said i think $6500-$6700 must be two strong supports and prove to be very hard to break. the next 48 hours will make things a lot clearer though.
1694  Economy / Speculation / Re: Plustoken owners may be driving down the price of bitcoin - Chainanalysis blog on: December 17, 2019, 04:02:10 PM
yet another contradictory article but yet another chain analysis company that is trying to say "hay we are good at blockchain analysis" .

first of all if they are using mixers then a blockchain analyzer has no way of knowing where the coins are really going to. so they can not really make the conclusion that they are selling on the market and crashing the price. for all we know they are converting it to monero...

secondly according to the article they are using OTC brokers to sell their coins, again OTC sells do NOT affect the bitcoin price to cause any kind of drop like we had since it is off the exchanges and the coins don't usually end up on exchanges anyways.
as for Huobi their volume rise is exactly similar to other exchanges' volume rise even smaller. so it can't be linked to these dumps.

and finally although 25k bitcoin (which the article claims were sold) is a big amount it is still not something that could cause a drama like this unless it was dumped as a coordinated act on the top major bitcoin exchanges such as Coinbase, Kraken, Bitstamp and Bitfinex. otherwise selling over the counter, exchanging for anon coins,... is not affecting bitcoin price at all.
1695  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Some thoughts about wallets. Random thoughts from Dave. on: December 17, 2019, 03:43:15 PM
let me add an additional thought. when it comes to wallets and being open source i have seen some beginners think that just having a github link means they are open source. but unfortunately it is becoming a common scam method where the hacker releases the compiled malicious wallet on github and tries fooling beginners into thinking it is safe.
1696  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is this the right time to buy now? Or wait for a bit to go even lower? on: December 17, 2019, 03:28:37 PM
it depends! things aren't the  same for everyone.

for example an investor who simply has extra worthless fiat laying around and dumps it for bitcoin every now and then should not focus too much about where the "bottom" is. their wait would only lead to missing out.

but on the other hand a day trader who is making profit from 5% changes, must put all his effort and focus on finding that "bottom" because buying higher means he loses money since he is a DAY TRADER. and waiting too long means again he loses money since he couldn't buy and price goes up and past his profit margins.

so the answer to "is it the right time?" is both yes and no. it is up to the users to decide which group they belong to.
1697  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig Wright: "BTC is not Bitcoin" on: December 17, 2019, 03:15:24 PM
meh, he is just taking advantage of the altcoin market and the fact that even the shittiest altcoins can stay alive for a long time before they bite the dust. he is just trying to make money from the idiocies of those who are participating in the altcoin market and want to make some profit out of the pump and dumps.

other than that, whatever he says is just fart noise that nobody cares about. he can repeat BTC is not bitcoin a trillion times and it still wouldn't change a thing!

Or rather we could assert confidently BTCSV is not Bitcoin! The ticker says it all!  Smiley

actually the ticker is BSV or some refer to it as BCHSV Wink
1698  Economy / Speculation / Re: Best time to selling the BTC Now on: December 17, 2019, 03:07:32 PM
yeah if you are an idiot Wink

best time to sell or even buy anything in any market is always when the market is calm and not moving. specially if you are NOT a day trader. otherwise when there is some chaos going on like price falling or price rising fast, the regular investors should not get involved in the market. and day traders should have sold already when the drop began not now. so that only leaves idiots who are selling now...
1699  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Do Women Want? More Educational Materials Before Investing in Bitcoin on: December 17, 2019, 08:00:34 AM
that sounds more like sexism to me!
anybody would want to educate themselves before they invest in anything. they do research first and measure the risks and rewards. the only difference is how much time they put into this important step and their gender isn't much of a factor here.
not to mention that this article is yet another "survey" that is failing in its group selection step so its result is extremely biased.
1700  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin EVER have a bigger blocksize? Is there hope? on: December 16, 2019, 03:04:58 PM
To be fair, the BCash and BSV are good testing grounds for their large blocks, storing all sorts of junk in them.

it could have been a good testing ground if there were some constant actual usage in their blockchain that could generate some traffic for at least a month.
otherwise so far we have seen some short periods where they artificially spammed their network to spike up the tx count that couldn't prove anything.
the funny thing is even though bitcoin has technically "smaller max block size", its blockchain is currently 109 GB bigger than BCH blockchain Cheesy
