1081  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: http://ripplescam.org/ on: April 27, 2013, 03:36:24 AM
Haha, and out come the legion of Ripple employees and shills. Obviously, a very aggressive gorilla marketing campaign was part of the launch plans for Ripple, with BitcoinTalk and specifically the Alt-Crypto board being major targets to sway public opinion and get people to swallow their shit.

Thats what Ripple and XRPs are. Shit, feces, human excrement - so worthless that not only do you not want it, you want to move away from it as quickly as possible to rid yourself of its malodorous stench.

OpenCoin is just another for profit company - no different than Exxon or Phillip Morris.
As you can imagine, being an executive of Phillip Morris certainly has its benefits, but I think we can all agree that they are not doing a public service by selling their products. They are making a profit for themselves and their shareholders - that is their primary intent and purpose, and everything else is secondary to that.

Also, I wish people would stop referring to XRP as being "premined." That implies that at some point, you will be able to mine XRPs yourself, which is not the case. There is no mining of xrp whatsoever, so its not "100% premined," they simply issued or "printed" their own currency, PERIOD. In this respect, its the same as fiat currency but actually worse, for obvious reasons.

I am thrilled that http://ripplescam.org/ exists and does the public a real service by revealing the true nature of this company. I wouldnt be surprised if the site was DDOS'd soon and I will personally donate 1 BTC to help maintain it, and I hope others do too. However, there isnt a donation address yet on there even though its mentioned, and I hope that it is added ASAP.

Also, Im adding http://ripplescam.org/ to my signature and I hope that people on here wake up and smell the coffee and do the same.

They are using aggressive tactics to try to swindle us, so we need to be hyper-aggressive in our response as a community. They cant pay off all of BitcoinTalk.org

Finally, and most importantly, I am 100% sure that Satoshi Nakamoto himself would be ashamed of Ripple and totally against it. I hope he sees http://ripplescam.org/ and donates 100BTC or whatever it takes to completely and fully bring Ripple to its knees.

I will keep bumping this thread periodically until Ripple is dead and and buried.

I really hope development of this coin ramps up, Taco presented some great ideas and I think this could be THE BIG #3 to BTC and LTC.
1083  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WTB LTC for BTC on: April 26, 2013, 07:04:18 PM
Just use BTC-e or vicurex, dont know why you would bother trying to trade on here as an unknown poster.
1084  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [Pool] Coinotron - LTC pool RBPPS = 2% fee, only 15 confirmations !!! on: April 26, 2013, 07:02:34 PM
Possibly hardware errors?

But yeah, I wish we could see stats for stales and invalids on our account page.
1085  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [100 GH] (2% DGM) - COINOTRON pool - Stratum, ASIC tested on: April 26, 2013, 06:57:40 PM
Yeah, the problem is coinotron is essentially a LTC pool now.

LTC miners outnumber BTC miners by around 200-1, so finding blocks is gonna be very tough, even with youpieie pulling 30k mh/s
1086  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Butterfly Labs finally ship their first batch of Jalapenos on: April 26, 2013, 06:52:02 PM
They said "July" but they didnt say what year!

1087  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: High Density Milk Crate Rig - 6 GHash on: April 26, 2013, 03:30:31 PM
Why not SDK 2.6?
SDK 2.6 blows for 5xxx cards. 2.1 yields the highest hash-rates.

OK, which version of Catalyst is this then for SDK 2.6?
1088  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: What tempature do you run your GPU's on: April 26, 2013, 03:23:39 PM
Pfff, I only mine LTC and Im happy if my cards are under 100c. But they are kind of cramped up and OC'd to bejeezus.

My understanding of GPU tech is that the chips can run MUCH hotter than a CPU for long periods.

For a CPU, 90c would be too hot but for a GPU 90c is totally fine, but I have to set fans to 85%+ to get this, so fan life is reduced.
1089  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How many people stop mining in the summer? on: April 26, 2013, 03:20:30 PM
I wont stop, but I will probably be naked a lot with a fan aimed at my balls.

Too much info, I know. Sorry  Lips sealed
1090  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: So what the hell are we supposed to buy? on: April 26, 2013, 03:16:49 PM
Mining is pretty much solely predicated on the notion that the coins you mine will go up in value - longterm.

If you are looking for quick profits, try your luck at bitcoin poker.

Personally, Ive made a lot more BTC on Seals With Clubs than by mining which is incredibly slow and just gets slower.
1091  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MTGox FINALLY announces LTC!! on: April 25, 2013, 08:39:19 AM
Gox has huge financial incentive to add LTC as quickly as possible as long as their current operations are going smoothly.

Gox is a for-profit company. They want to make as much money as possible, and adding a second crypto will do wonders for their bottom line.
1092  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MTGox FINALLY announces LTC!! on: April 25, 2013, 06:35:35 AM
Ship teh maneys.

1093  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New users, avoid using https://btc-e.com/ on: April 25, 2013, 06:27:47 AM
BTC-e has been good to me, just verify your email before doing any trading, and DONT send to a gambling site directly from BTC-e, because if you win it wont get returned to your address, at least I had that problem in the past. And dont leave more than a few coins on there, so if you plan on making moves, plan ahead because depositing isnt instant.

Trollbox is hilarious but fairly useless, just consider it entertainment and dont make any decisions based on it and DONT CLICK LINKS.
1094  Other / Off-topic / Re: Friend I just got into Bitcoins... how generous is this forum?? on: April 24, 2013, 04:14:16 PM
Its not about giving BTC away, its about doing productive things with them that advance the BTC economy.

Have him write a blog on some area of expertise for him, link it and accept donations there.
1095  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: All I can think about is Bitcoin. How to get more involved? on: April 24, 2013, 04:10:03 PM
Cool we have a lot in common, we've probably played together on Seals.

Im in a similar boat, Im looking to get more involved in BTC and LTC on the side of providing services and or products.

Im doing some coaching and getting paid in BTC (when possible), and some staking. I have a few other poker related ideas, but nothing Ive acted on yet. Also, poker is kind of a niche market, Im looking to do something that has a broader appeal. But #1 problem for me is I have ZERO programming skills and hiring good talent in the NYC area is prohibitively expensive, and my friends who are good are busy with work or other projects. Hard to find people making $200k a year who will throw in 25 hours a week for sweat equity (on top of their 50 hour workweek).

So, the simpler the better and I live in NYC and have friends in finance and venture capital so trying to figure out how to leverage that as well, but the most recent crash has given a case of the BTC heebie jeebies to a few friends. Speculating for profit is cool but Ive always been more of an entrepreneur than a trader - right now I just buy and hold because Borgata chips and $100 bills in a shoebox doesnt seem like a sound retirement plan.
1096  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paypal president says they are considering bitcoin... on: April 24, 2013, 03:47:44 PM
Bitcoin makes paypal/WU etc etc etc obsolete because its a currency AND a payment system ALL IN ONE without any of the bullshit.

There is already a thread on this, maybe mods can merge them...
1097  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Forbes - baseless Bitcoin hate generator on: April 24, 2013, 03:43:37 PM
I have a lot of respect for Steve Forbes, but hes just clueless when it comes to Bitcoins.

As a provider of services or products, I dont even need to hold Bitcoins. I can just immediately convert them to USD or Euros if I dont like them.

But I dont have to pay a fee, or wait days for a wire transfer to clear, or deal with banks and their ridiculous policies and fake FDIC "insurance."
1098  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Mindset: Pro-Economy vs. Pro-Profit on: April 24, 2013, 01:31:30 PM
I think if you are interested in buying and holding for profit (and not just speculating/trading), then by definition you are pro-economic growth.

These things take time. We are used to technological adoption happening fast, but half the people I try to explain BTC cant grasp it.

And 75% of the ones who do grasp it are like, "Oh thats cool. Good luck with that. Enjoy your 'digital bitcoin e-currency.'"  Undecided

So basically I dont bother explaining it to people unless they are very intelligent have and a hybrid libertarian/computer geek streak or a degree in economics.
1099  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PayPal president interested in bitcoin on: April 24, 2013, 01:22:19 PM
Paypal is pretty evil, they report ALL your account info to the IRS, even if they claim "only for sellers with $20k+ in sales and 200 transactions."

Paypal wont ever allow it. They dont even understand it if they are considering it. Bitcoin makes Paypal totally obsolete.

Why would I fund Paypal with BTC if I can just send BTC directly, it costs me nothing and I dont have to provide a TaxID#, or even a name/address?

1100  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Wed Morning (April 24th)] Make extra money with your LTC right now! on: April 24, 2013, 01:14:13 PM
Seriously, I LOL'd.  Cheesy

WTF does this even have to do with LTC?  Embarrassed
