425  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How to connect a mining rig to a computer on: April 11, 2013, 07:41:33 AM
Thanks for the advice I'll look into teamviewer

We will be using the rig to mine ltc not btc

@legendster how does that not make sense?

dont = do not so we do not know how we will connect the rig to a computer
426  Bitcoin / Mining support / How to connect a mining rig to a computer on: April 10, 2013, 06:42:06 PM
Hi guys sorry if this is a pretty dumb/basic question but it has me and my brother stumped

We want to start mining (GPU) and have bought a few cards + a motherboard which is on its way but we dont know how we will connect the rig to a computer (laptop) to control it.

After searching the internet for quite a while I've decided the best course of action would be to setup a LAN, connect the rig and the laptop to it and use remote admin to control the rig

What do you guys suggest is the best idea I think the above method will work but if there is a convention which miners tend to follow it would probably be best to do so, so any suggestions will be greatly appreciated, we want to get mining asap!

Cheers

Testing this site now. Purchased a 12 month xbox live code, just waiting on the extremely long payment confirmation >.<

Let us know when you get it Cheesy

Successful transaction. Just took quite a long time for payment confirm.

Long delay was due to the spike a few weeks back

I'm working on something quite fun for the site it will take a few weeks to complete but when it's done I think people will really enjoy it - not giving anything away
428  Economy / Auctions / Re: Handmade painting "Bitcoin" on: April 06, 2013, 11:43:46 AM
It looks all wobly and stuff. I'd pay BTC0.5 but only if it came with a frame that emulated the coin shape.
The value for this painting comes from its status as the first painting ever made, devoted to the Bitcoin. I think it's potential worth is much more than 1 BTC.
I can include a simple frame for free.

The value of the painting comes from what people are happy to pay, I could stencil the exact picture you have done for a fraction of the price I dont think it's worth much more than 1 BTC, if that at all... £100 on a canvas sheet is a hell of a lot

"earn bitcoins" Data from https://adwords.google.com/o/KeywordTool

Broad:

Keyword - earn bitcoins

Competition - Low

Global Monthly Searches  - 5,400

Approximate CPC (Search)  $2.17

Exact :

Keyword - earn bitcoins

Competition - Low

Global Monthly Searches  - 1,300

Approximate CPC (Search)  $1.77

Your domain has the word earn and bitcoin in it, that doesnt mean it comes up on search for the term 'earn bitcoin' in fact 'earnbitcoin.org' doesnt even come up with your site...

Just because you've opened the keyword tool and entered a keyword doesnt mean that your site is related to that keyword... and I dont think anyone wants to pay $2.17 to get a click from a term your domain already contains
433  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How does Satoshi Dice allow for instant transactions? on: March 25, 2013, 08:04:20 PM
Okay so 0 confirms = not safe unless you are Satoshi so I wont worry with that, I guess my site cant be instant but I'll have to look into building user accounts so people dont have to pay per game they can buy 5/10 goes and use them whenever...

Which API do people suggest using I've been looking at this one
https://github.com/blockchain/receive_payment_php_demo which looks like it would do the job with a bit of editing, is there one that people would suggest over it due to ease of use/personal preference?
434  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / How does Satoshi Dice allow for instant transactions? on: March 25, 2013, 05:25:57 PM
I have made a Bitcoin game which I will want to release.. at some point which will take Bitcoin as payment and allow players to win a prize, like all the best casino games..

But i'd like it to be instant theres not a lot of point having a game which you have to wait 10 minutes each time to play I need a way to make it instant like Satoshi Dice and other similar sites

I understand Satoshi Dice runs on 0 confirmations, is this a safe way to run a game, surely people can double spend their money before the transaction has been confirmed?

I dont really understand how it works so could someone please explain how Satoshi Dice works securely?

I will also need a bit of advice on setting up and IPN so my server knows when a payment has gone through

Cheers Luke
435  Economy / Speculation / Re: 3k to invest. Mining or Bitcoin on: March 23, 2013, 05:36:53 PM
Buying at the peak of a market is dumb, if you bought down at $2 would have been a different story

Who is to say we are at the peak, it's a new technology which is less than 5 years old, I really doubt we're even close to seeing Bitcoin peak.

In terms of investment I think buying the coin is a smart move, my brother has almost doubled his £100 investment in BTC which is now worth £170 in just a few weeks, I know thats because the price has gone crazy lately but who's to say it wont continue to
436  Economy / Gambling / Re: Law on gambling Bitcoin - Do I need a licence? on: March 22, 2013, 12:39:16 PM
The site wouldn't be adding anything new to the table but it wouldn't be exactly like the other sites, if I can find verification that it would be feasible for me to make the site then I probably will, I dont want to give too much away atm but its not anything that will change the world, just a nice place people can go bet and win prizes

I'm from the UK so the laws will be slightly different, although the governmental have gone out of their way to make it as difficult to find an explanation as possible... I will get my script together and host it for as long as I can, if it turns out I am in violation the worst they can do is tell me to take it down and possibly charge me, but it seems unlikely that they would bother (especially in the UK) I doubt anyone in Parliament has even heard of bitcoin yet
437  Economy / Gambling / Re: Law on gambling Bitcoin - Do I need a licence? on: March 21, 2013, 07:01:51 PM
Okay well I guess that would be the best course of action, does anyone know how sites like satochiDICE etc are able to gamble, I assume they would only do so based on the grounds that there is no law currently dictating what they can and cant do
438  Economy / Gambling / Law on gambling Bitcoin - Do I need a licence? on: March 21, 2013, 11:31:29 AM
Hi guys I am thinking of setting up a game on my site where customers can gamble for the chance to win a prize (i'll do a proper release when I finish it, I think it should be fun and people will hopefully enjoy it)

But before I set it up i want to make sure I dont get in trouble, now I understand every country has different laws on gambling so its difficult to know but I read on this article that Bitcoin is changing the way people can gamble in the states

http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2013-01-03/bitcoin-making-online-gambling-legal-in-the-u-dot-s-dot

So, for now is it safe to say it is completely safe to gamble with Bitcoin (if you don't mind a house odd) and I can go ahead with my plans in the hope that the US wont come out with a crazy law outlining that to gamble with Bitcoin i need a Bitcoin trading or gambling licence?
