Hashers United Conference

I will be participating in a panel discussion at the Hashers United Conference to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA on October 10-11. The panel topic concerns mining algorithms and my modest role will be to briefly describe Cooperative Proof of Stake for Bitcoin. Sharing the podium will be notable crypto coin designers.

This is a great chance to meet up. If you like, PM me.

Bump for visibility. I think it would do the community some good to have these issues addressed.

@Gaw/Zen,

I think all of us (pool owners) want these questions to stop, so if you could please take the time to answer the above thread, that would be great.

agreed.

I feel strongly that this zebedee guy has ulterior motives for being here.  I asked him twice to give one plausible reason why Thomas would hold on to a premine for 3 years and still be paying out large bounties after all this time and keeping in mind IXC was basically left for dead for nearly 2 years.

No alt coins with a premine has had that happen and it defies all logic for any CrapCoin or ScamCoin and I simply can't figure out why Thomas would still be here and with the premine other than it was planned from the beginning.

That or Thomas is simply the Nicest guy in the world and I just don't buy that cause nice guys don't abandon a coin and fail to even respond for nearly 2 years.
My only motive is to watch this turd die, enjoy it, and see how you guys handle it.  Has anyone even checked it functions beyond the October end-of-world?  There's a good chance it doesn't.  You guys don't even have a testnet right?!?

And if you can't imagine the inventor's motives, then I can't help you.  I can think of many, including "The few hundred thousand I'm sitting on are worth fuck all, why should I sink any more time in this if I can throw others a bone and maybe revive some value off their backs"

the new code has a testnet yes

After further reviewing the code that e.exchangers has given me I left negative feedback because the code he used has a number of coding errors as seen by pushing the code against other coins and I paid him 0.5 BTC for some further work with no word in nearly a week. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt but can't wait for weeks and months on end for code that he can't fix himself.

Zack, if you would like I can help you with source code of a Pow/Pos coin that is functional and works and can show you where changes need to be made and how to create a new Merklehash and Genesis Block as well as compiling on Linux.

I would need a bit of help with compiling on windows though so would like to do a bit of quid pro quo and share information.

A new coin does not need to be made. Just a hard fork

Is there a copy of the HUC blockchain that i can grab via WGET anywhere?

If noone else wants to do it, I could try to put it on my VPS (which is already running Huntercoin, so there chain is - basically - there).  Not sure if I have enough free disk space to save another copy.  But I can try if no other options exist.

yes plz. the sync time to get it running on my pool is killing me

Here you go: http://extra.domob.eu/huc.tar
SHA256: 627a3f4f709f5af4d63462638cc9c5957ed8d8c47d379af152a5965a90e1de69

Please note that I do not want to keep that link active forever, since my server is short on disk space.  If someone else has the capacity to host a HTTP-only version permanently, it would be very cool to have, IMHO!  Note that I did not include the "database" folder, since I think that it should not be needed (but I don't fully understand BDB, to be honest).  If it is absolutely necessary, I can provide it in a separate link in addition.

Thanks a ton downloading now.

Well,  I am waiting for it to be deployed on GHASH.IO servers.

Without it being deployed there, it'll just be an interesting curiosity.

I have to agree there.  No update will mean anything unless it's fully implemented.

At least we can add the Counterparty feature without the help for CEX cause it looks like that feature may take a while longer.

CEX is finally coming in very handy.  Not many coins can claim that yet IXC price is still in the toilet.

You still don't get it do you?  Without 0.9.2 with the pools, you don't get Counterparty functioning!

You can *not* add new functionality without the pools cooperating.

The pools will co-operate. Soon i will have my pool up merged-mining with IXCoin to test myself so theres no reason for CEX.io not to upgrade. just running into a  few small issues (like my Huntercoin merged-mined block not being accepted)

Hi Ahmed,

AFAIK, Nasakioto has eventually paid all the promised bounties.

I don't want to diminish the value of what you have done so far, simply highlight what Nasakioto is expecting:

Hi all,

I'm offering a 50K IXC bounty for anyone who updates the Ixcoin client to Bitcoin Core 0.9.2.1 and compiles it for Mac, Windows, Linux 32/64 + Ubuntu PPA.

I sent him an email and a PM, with the aim to draw his attention on what you have already done.

Yep i know. Windows is done (apart from logos as afaik you guys were running a logo competition right?) Linux the source code is there. Its impossible to provide binaries really as people still have to install dependencies such as QT. Mac will be compiled soon(When i get confirmation on logo's). Ubuntu PPA is almost done

Well the win client and source code is there. Blow yourself away

The source code that is checked in is giving me this:

Assertion failed: (hashGenesisBlock == uint256("0x00000007199508e34a9ff81e6ec0c477a4cccff2a4767a8eee39c11db367b008")), function CTestNetParams, file ./chainparams.cpp, line 163.

Let me know when all the source code has been checked in.

Thanks!

Which branch?
