81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: August 09, 2014, 04:55:54 PM

and I assume that donation funds were used for hosting then?

You're a reasonable guy and have done alot for the community and def made your mark on ixcoin, would you consider donation control of the website to a community member such as deadsea?

A majority of funds that were sent to that address were for bounties paid.   There were probably some change sent on occassion, but certainly not substantial.

C'mon ... when I got interested in this coin in February/March I sent to the donation address 5000 IXC as I thought they were going to the development, and soon after I sent you another 5000 IXC for CP. It was before I realized that there were nothing that could expected from you to deliver, and I thereby lost my interest in the coin.

Now that there seems to be actually a competent coder, I suggest that you take your cut out of that 10000 IXC for the work done since March, and send the rest (if any) to Ahmed. Please announce here how much (if any) you sent to Ahmed.

For the record ive recieved 0 IXC so far. (Just jumping in incase anyone claims otherwise so far)

Apart from the fact that everywhere the reference is still to BTC, the client seems to be working smoothly.

Nice work, Ahmed !!!!!!!

Yep thats why i need to test it Smiley Once we know it operates fine the UI changes can be fixed easily Smiley

EDIT: Bitcoin Images i need to replace So if we have any new logo's or anything nows the time to send me them

Certainly Not.

Spoetnik while my friend has been a total piece of shit even to me at times. But no one can deny he speaks his mind whether right or wrong.

sorry Ahmed and thank you.

i will back up people whether i like them or not.. i'm all about facts.
and if i got something wrong i will try and make it right.. not just hide.

just follow the money lol
Its cool and No problem. I certainly know that Smiley

Nice concept, but sounds really hard to implement...

We've already implemented it. Our coin is already Multi Algo and i've privately used merged-mining on the PolyMYR pool

How does so many algo's tackle blockchain bloat? I would assume the extra hashes from just mono-merge mining would add a fair bit of bloat over time but mining over 4-5 algo's should then add a fair amount of extra bloat to the blockchain. What is Myriadcoin's growth in size per year?

It adds absolutely 0 extra in comparison to other coins of similar specs with single algorithms. MYR wont get bloated by merged mining its the child coins e.g. IXC, I0C, USC, DOGE which will have larger blockchains due to the merged-mining and the multi-algo even then wont make a difference

Daily update for everyone.
Currently running the 0.9.2 Client myself. Synced up ahead of the block where merged-mining started I'll let it sync fully and then we can start up testnet and do some merged-mining on myriadcoin's PolyMYR pool. Once thats done the network urgently needs some new DNS Seeds. Other coins have 15+ while we have 0. After that we can roll out the clients Smiley

EDIT: Also Reverted the switch to a 40 Byte OP_RETURN by the bitcoin dev's

EDIT No 2: 1 hour and 30 Mins, 1 Blockchain Rescan Later. The client is fully synced.  Time to get some Win QT's out

After you test out the merge mining functionality, can you work with CEX.IO to get the 0.9.2 functionality into their pool?

This is the current biggest obstacle in getting any new functionality into IXC.

As an additional upside, CEX.IO may just hire you for your pool development experitise.

Thanks!

I certainly can do. However at this point in time im not 100% CEX.IO would be wanting to hire me for my pool expertise. especially since i'd be running a competing pool

Don't we need at least an 80 Byte OP_RETURN for counterparty?

Thats what i've done The Bitcoin devs switched from a 80 to 40 Byte OP_RETURN so i switched it back to an 80 Byte OP_RETURN

@ahmed
Looking at your github I see you forked myriadcoin from zetacoin, what was the basis behind that decision?

No idea why 8bit did that. more then likely it was due to it being based on a recentish bitcoin source and having a retarget system we keppt

Well, excellent that you got it working.  The 0.9.2 code base is nicer than the previous because it uses the standard automake to drive its makefile.   There is a couple of spots in the code base that have markers when a BIP was enabled,  you may want to either permanently disable those BIP changes or set them sometime in the future.

That shouldnt make a difference really. The only important BIP's i know of are BIP16 and 30 of which both were enabled ages ago

Use then the block height used by the previous version.

Yep i already have

95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Multi-vPoW - Myriadcoin's Solution to Parasitic Merge Mining on: August 06, 2014, 11:51:00 PM
The multi-vPoW solution involves adjusting block rewards based on which algorithm finds the block. With Myriad as a parent multi-PoW, the child coin can become a multi-PoW (if it isn’t already) that selects a few algorithms that are merged-mined by parent Myriad algorithms and an algorithm(s) that is not merge-mined (creating a degree of overlap).

Wait, what exactly is the purpose to have the overlap? Sorry, some of this is confusing me a bit -- if you could just elaborate on how making the child multi-PoW plays into the overlap.

The purpose of having the overlap is to devote a few of the algorithms to network security through merge mining and "tip" them a smaller block reward while keeping a few others with the "real" block reward numbers.

Looking at the examples in my visualization again, Myriad Child A overlaps Myriad with the Myr-Groestl and Qubit algorithms. Myriad Child B overlaps Myriad with the SHA256d, Scrypt, and Skein algorithms.

In layman terms this means we can make a merged mined child coin which would support shitcoin algo of the week aka the X series. while still having all the normal power on the myriad network. (We'd support the myriad algos while other pools? and pools for the other algos would mine on the X algorithm)

Yeah it might be a bit more work. And really i doubt it will impact DVC much. over @ MYR, we're all struggling in a way to get more dev's, users and popularity even though its premine/instamine free and we're all working hard towards being as legit and fair as possible

What files do you need to change to change the algo?

I myself am a large holder of devcoin and the ability to mine with another algo would probably bring more network hashpower as well as more coin popularity.

It depends which algo.. im not sure how much work it is. If its as simple as changing the getwork routines im all for it, but if it means changing the way blocks are stored on disk or memory then i disagree. The mining part is seperated pretty well now in the new base..

Remember that since the hash is so high it may not make economic sense to try to mine with another algo? How will you find a block when competing against asics? Not sure how multi algo works in this regard.

Also think about the fact that miners only get 10% of each block.. is it really a miners coin?  Maybr when value is realy high.. but the security is important and if the merge mined pools arent helping thrn we can investigate other algos to improve security.

You'd essentially need a version scheme. E.G. SHA256 has a block version number of 2. and Scrypt has 3, etc etc.

Each Algorithm Would have its own difficulty and so that means theres no competition between asics.

Vote for block rewards change before next release http://coinzen.org/index.php/topic,1032.msg34586.html#msg34586

Damn, am I the only one who voted no? I must start an anti-reward-change campaign...  Grin

You can use the discussion thread to talk about the proposal too.

I also started a new thread about the voting system: http://coinzen.org/index.php/topic,1034.msg34589.html#msg34589

There is a proposal from me that would affect shares too.

Sidhujag, could you create a poll for transaction messaging and myriadcoin multiple algos?  I can make bounties to attract more devs, too.

tx messaging and myriadcoin?

THing with adding services to the blockchain would be we are moving away from the bitcoin protocol and any updates would mean harder and harder changes back to devcoin... so we really need to evaluate if we should do such a thing I can forsee in the future that only a few alt coins will be able to keep up to the bitcoin codebase and leverage true developer power while the altcoins die off due to lack to developer competence. By adding something like tx messaging you would need to re-integrate every single time and with every thin client perhaps that needs to connect, unless its scalable such that something like the android client doesnt need to know about it? I'm trying to keep it as close to btc as possible while adding reciever file stuff... but perhaps if the pro's outweigh the con's we can always do it.. just think long term. Whatever bitcoin implements it is easy to do so with devcoin.

For example someone on IRC asked me how to change the default base58 properties set in chainparams, and I didnt change ours because devcoin is totally address compatible with bitcoin they are the same, but any other coin that attempted to create a non conforming address with bitcoin (every alt besides devcoin) needs to know how to create bip32 priv/pub key pairs to enter in the base58 properties in order to properly integrate the 0.9.2 codebase... so since I never touched it I investigated and found it to be the whole openssl heartbleeed bip32 fix.. and some algorithm is externally applied to find this information... many people will not know how to calculate these things going forward and we were able to leverage bitcoin's tools and development to be able to integrate 0.9.2 rather painlessly. Also any thin client that integrates bip32 and such are also freebies for devcoin.. whereas other alt coins will lose the ability to "keep up" unless they have a bigger development community thats capable (not many).

^ this was me btw. and i agree with changing to devcoin to multi algorithm but not to add tx messaging. However i can also agree with sidhujag. It will take major effort to stay inline with the bitcoin codebase.

Community Update:

After discussing the issue [at length] regarding Frictionless and his failure to fulfill his most basic duties and responsibilities as a board member, with everyone currently on the board [including CEX.io] it has been decided that Frictionless will been removed from the iXcoin Foundation Board, effective immediately, by unanimous [democratic] vote.

Best Regards...

Fuck you, after all that I did for you guys.  Burn with your worthless iXcoins, burn you lowly folks.
