Ya crack me up. Everyone here thinks that bitcoin is a sure fire "I will make money from this" thing.. REMEMBER! As an investment, is Bitcoin a sure thing? Bitcoin is a new and interesting electronic currency, the value of which is not backed by any single government or organization. Like other currencies, it is worth something partly because people are willing to trade it for goods and services. Its exchange rate fluctuates continuously, and sometimes wildly. It lacks wide acceptance and is vulnerable to manipulation by parties with modest funding. Security incidents such as website and account compromise may trigger major sell-offs. Other fluctuations can build into positive feedback loops and cause much larger exchange rate fluctuations. Anyone who puts money into Bitcoin should understand the risk they are taking and consider it a high-risk currency. Later, as Bitcoin becomes better known and more widely accepted, it may stabilize, but for the time being it is unpredictable. Any investment in Bitcoin should be done carefully and with a clear plan to manage the risk. O also isnt this KNC Miners thread. Shouldn't we be talking about there product and not if it will make ROI or not?

You know it makes me wonder. Why must people argue ROI if we are talking about something that can have no value tomorrow. People need to stop thinking of bitcoin as a way to get money or get rich and think of it as like a hobby. if make money cool if not well shit happens. Lets just all get along and have some fun and mine them coins!

In a way, the genesis block mining calculator is a god sent.
It scares away all the noobs and people who are just bad at maths. It's pretty much the opposite of what we had at the start which was a calculator webpage to calculate hashrate at CURRENT difficulties. Haha that lured so many people into buying miners. "omg this bfl 30gh/s miner would be earning me 30k this month! - ok ill preorder one from BFL"
With the genesis block calculator, "omg no roi. i don't think i should be preordering anymore".
You say scare away the noobs BUT i am a noob. However I look at it differently. Yea i may spend a few grand or so on "outdated or no ROI" hardware BUT I already consider the money gone rather if i make my money back or not. Its an investment. Sometimes you make your money back and sometimes not. Just the way the cookie crumbles. Also its a way to keep the network nice and strong! Go to the BIGGEST super computer network there is. Long Live Bitcoin!

Is it still worth getting a 5 GH/s Bitcoin Miner BFL?
Not if you are thinking you will make a profit. But it may be worth it for the fun of knowing you are part of the bitcoin experiment, and the hard lesson you will get about exponentially rising difficulty.
If you order now, don't expect to get the hardware until November.
They are on ebay also people.
