161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Are u buying alts? on: October 27, 2019, 05:00:55 PM
Right now I am out of alts completely. Alts have bottomed out and I can't see any sign of recovery. Situation has been same for months now. Since Bitcoin made a jump in April this year, Alts started going down. Since then, they are only in bearish cycle. Also, the volume is coming to Bitcoin only. Plus Bitcoin is showing volatility in a positive direction. Right now altcoins don't make any sense.
162  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can Bitcoin cross $50,000 by Dec 2020? on: October 27, 2019, 03:43:12 PM
Bitcoin halving is scheduled in 4th quarter of 2020. This will surely gonna bring up a price pump. Bitcoin reaching $50k will take the marketcap to $900 Billion plus. This will need a huge cash inflow. The danger of recession is also there. If it happens, people will be reluctant to put their money into any new venture which could be risky. This can restrict the money inflow. I think the price might touch the levels of $30k. But reaching $50k is a bit tough.
163  Economy / Economics / Re: Any ideas of what we lack in crypto world? on: October 27, 2019, 01:37:11 PM
I think a bit of regulations on exchanges and new project wouldn't harm anyone. It will affect the decentralization aspect a bit but it will also provide the needed security to the people. Many people are wary of cryptos because of the lack of security of their funds. Though the security depends upon us only but little bit of regulations over exchanges will bring cryptos int he good books.
164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Mega Breakout - 56 billion dollars in a few hours !! on: October 27, 2019, 12:27:28 PM
There are different reasoning from different people/experts. But there isn't any specific reason for the breakout. The earlier fall came from the news of quantum computers. People are saying Xi Jinping comment on blockchain was a reason but that was specifically about blockchain and bitcoin wasnr mentioned anywhere. I doubt that to be a reason for the pump. Many are saying that volumes were fake. I think it is more of manipulation from the big players as no new money entered the market.
165  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to be profitable in sports betting? on: October 27, 2019, 09:15:58 AM
A lot of us here love sports and we are betting at the same time.
I am not successful in this kind of venture but I would love to know from people here on what they do in order to win.
They say that sports betting has no house edge, but why is it it's still hard to win here?

Choose sports to bet in and dont just go for all. Pick sports which you can follow with passion and have family or friends following them too. Stay updated with all matches, transfers, follow news, articles and forums. Such practices will help you stay on top of your prediction, make vice decisions and maybe be profitable throughout.
166  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's worse: cigar addiction or gambling addiction on: October 27, 2019, 07:41:39 AM
I know this topic was, but I'm interested in explaining why you would compare these two things that have only one thing in common, addiction. Why compare them if they are two different terms.
Eg for cigars we give money and have no profit, while for gambling we give money and there is a possibility of getting money. In the world, these two topics are crucial, but why Huh
Whether the addiction is a mental deficiency or simply as a love for something?
When someone loves a sport is he or she addicted?

While smoking a cigar has all the ill effects, gambling can have positive outcomes. Unlike gambling, there are no possible monetary benefits from smoking a cigar. While Gambling can make you a fortune, cigar smoking can only reduce your life. Nevertheless , addiction of either cigar or gambling can lead to miserable and toxic life. For me , gambling addiction would win over cigar addiction.
167  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does the discipline help in gambling? on: October 26, 2019, 05:59:58 PM
How strong does a character need to be to set aside some amount of money on a weekly gamble?
What needs to happen to make it happen?
Does the great loss solidify our character?
What exactly does it mean to discipline yourself in gambling (in the narrow sense)?
Should we be disciplined in gambling, does it mean that we are better at gambling, or that we put less money at stake with more enjoyment, less fear, adrenaline, etc. ?
Me interested in answering the last question?

Discipline yourself in terms of frequency of betting and the budget you set to play. Making gambling a everyday leisure activity can lead to not only addiction but heavy financial crisis. With respect to budget, limit your buy in and the amount you set to play. Also, stay away from using credit card !
168  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 7 Days to Vegas - A must see movie for gamblers! Share your thoughts about it. on: October 26, 2019, 05:14:18 PM
7 Days to Vegas

If you have seen this movie then you would love what gamblers would do just to win about everything! The best movie I've seen about gambling so far! Share us your thoughts. Smiley

Note: Did watched it on Popcorntime.

Source:imdb

Thanks for the recommendation, I will surely go through the thread and watch it in free time. Some of similar movies that come to my mind are 21, Ocean's eleven and twelve, Hangover, the cooler, Lay the favorite, and Last Vegas. Adding to that , I feel watching such movies with intentions to learn skills is truly not worth it and you should watch these movies for the story of it or to just get in feel before you actually land in Vegas
169  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Buy now or wait for Bitcoin? on: October 26, 2019, 03:52:20 PM
I would say wait here as the trend is not much clear as of now. The sudden price drop followed by sudden 3x price jump is looking more of a manipulated price and not an organic price jump. Anything could happen from this point. Though the bearish sentiment has converted to bullish one and fear and greed meter is going towards a positive note, Not much can be said about the trend with a complete surety.
170  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: WILL CRYPTO BOOM AGAIN? on: October 26, 2019, 03:26:10 PM
If you're expecting a boom like 2017, then I highly doubt the possibility of it. If you followed the news around the euphoria of 2017, you would have noticed that the hype was planned and it was all manipulated. Crypto didn't follow the organic growth strategy at that time and because of that it corrected by almost 80%. But right now, no such manipulation is taking place. It is more of an organic growth. BAKKT is getting volume. Price is maintaining its support. Halving will happen next year which brings up bullish sentiment. I am expecting a price rise but only in Bitcoin as people have lost hope in altcoins.
171  Economy / Speculation / Re: [2019-10-25] Bitcoin price doesn't care about manipulators and is up $1200 in 2h on: October 26, 2019, 01:59:31 PM
Ironically, that's the biggest manipulation. Bitcoin went up 30% in a jiffy liquidating a huge number of shorts as people were expecting more downfall as $7800 support was broken and hence the bear cycle was expected. Here, was the opportunity for the whales to play with the market. Price went up 30% defying all the expected trends and it seems we are back in bullish cycle. But I doubt this was the sustainable pump. I would like to see $11k resistance being crossed for any definitive trend.
172  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China's President Xi Jinping VS Bitcoin on: October 26, 2019, 01:31:05 PM
Bitcoin is not perfect!
Bitcoin lacks in many areas which restrict is acceptance as a global currency. It has become more of a store of value.

Xi Jinping made a statement where he said we need to seize the opportunity of blockchain. Whether he is making a cryptocurrency which will be accepted globally? I don't think he meant that. Blockchain has many more use cases than to be used as a global payment system. It can be used in retail to medical industry. Moreover, no one will accept Chinese currency globally. So, his statement didn't mean he is creating a global crypto currency which could compete with bitcoin.
173  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do You Compare Your Trading ideas with others ? on: October 23, 2019, 05:41:54 AM
Considering others' trade idea before making your trade is a good option but that can manipulate your decision too which is not always the correct approach. There could be a chance that your decision has more merits than theirs. There are many fake "gurus" everywhere on Twitter and telegram. So if you're comparing your trades with them, take some precautions. I have seen many good traders getting in wrong trades. Market is really volatile and just one wrong trade can ruin you.
174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: too many exchanges and will increase in the future, what do you guys think about on: October 23, 2019, 05:12:31 AM
Crypto space is really cluttered. So many exchanges, wallets and ICO. More the exchanges more is the risk of frauds and scams. My personal opinion is that crypto needs regulation to cut on the rise of exchanges. People are not educated enough to evaluate such exchanges and get scammed. This brings out the bad name for cryptos. Regulations are the only way out of it.
175  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling as a profession: there's people who live out of gambling? on: October 22, 2019, 04:05:36 PM
Just curious here.
I know there are tons of way to live.

but is there such a thing as professional gamblers?

people who make a living onlyout of gambling (online or on rl)?

resources and comments on that are really welcome.

I believe you really cant sustain life with easy and unstable source of income, gambling as a profession being one of them. I am sure professional gamblers too have stable earning streams or side hustles if not gambling. I know few friends who tried to live off from winnings from gambling , went profession but soon landed in stable jobs when the things became rough !
176  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to restrain yourself at a small loss and not spend money. on: October 22, 2019, 03:44:42 PM
It often happens that people go out to play a variety of games of chance with a certain amount of money, but in the end they spend everything if they are gone. How to prevent which technique you base yourself on to spend no further. It's hard to just give up, people persistent in gambling that day, so they can't just tell themselves they'll try tomorrow. Why is this difficult? Is it because of greed?

Setting up a budget is important to control your losses. Plan in advance how much money you would be willing to put on the table and what kind of table you would like to go for. I have seen my friends carrying credit cards and going in debt under the excitement of a casino. Play safe, play smart and control your risks
177  Economy / Economics / Re: Will Africa be a good place for crypto? on: October 22, 2019, 11:19:58 AM
Many countries in Africa have the problem of under-banking. Many of them couldn't do online businesses because of this. Some countries have bad reputation because of online frauds. Crypto won't only solve the problem of under banking and make it easier for people to start online business by making online transactions easier, but also will save people from frauds. A few African countries are also suffering with hyperinflation. Here too, crypto can be a saviour.
178  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Money is Dirty Money on: October 22, 2019, 06:25:57 AM
This to me is a traditional view which remains persistent until the very day.

My mother considered gambling as playing with money. She sternly reminded us not to gamble. When I was in college, there was a hot debate within the church whether or not to accept donations coming from dirty sources such as gambling. And in Islam, gambling (maysir) is haram (forbidden). [1]

I have a friend whose father would not serve the family food bought using gambling money.

And just a few years ago, our Education Secretary shunned billions of state-funds because they are coming from gambling. She didn't think it moral and proper to buy books and even build classrooms using the dirty gambling money. [2]

What are your thoughts on these? Do you agree with it, or you consider these as old-fashioned views?

I guess one's attitude depends more on the society he belongs and values taught by parents. For me, my religion plays a very less role to define my interests and desires. I have been gambling for past 4 years now and running my expenses through gambling wins. One of my uncle fulfills his desires from money from gambling which wont have been possible looking at his current earnings except from gambling. I personally think gambling money is not a stable source of earning and is not dirty at all . You can donate some of it if you feel its dirty and feel better about yourself !
179  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Things That Comes Into Your Mind When Winning... on: October 22, 2019, 05:38:01 AM
Back then I created a thread to let everyone to share their amazing stories, and now it became so dramatic that we almost laugh at it.

So let's start a new one, instead of speaking again and again about strategies and its effects, instead of talking every bad things that may happen when playing to much, and also instead of talking about how will someone gonna spend their winnings and also about their feelings...

So here's the thing, what does come into your mind when you win? For the first time? For the second time? Or even for when you win always?

Of course some might say that "isn't it obvious? To bet again and to win again" but this ain't the real thing, various reasons may come up for every individual. So let us put this into discussion.

When I see myself having the most tokens related to others on the table, a mixed feeling of stability and yet risk comes and hits me. I start contemplating my next moves so that to minimize my losses and save the winning. I don't generally play to double my winnings but I play to get my return on investment, be it even a minute amount over the money I have invested.
180  Economy / Economics / Re: What are the odds that the government/banks will truly create their own coin? on: October 21, 2019, 07:16:19 AM
Digital currency is the future of currencies.  Sooner or later, almost every country will bring in digital currencies as there are many benefits and security associated to digital currency. But it will be a better version to the present fiat currency. It will be centrally controlled as economy cant run without a central monetary policy. This not only help in keeping the economy in check but it also increases the trust of the users. Many banks and countries are on the way of creating their own digital currency as it helps in making real cross border transactions at low cost with transparency.
