Fancy a discount? Just 6 more twitter followers until we hit 200, when that happens we'll have a sale!

https://twitter.com/BitLaserscom

Hah, i could send 1000 some egg followers for fun, just to see what kind of sale, but that will not be nice would it.

Hehe, I wouldn't say no  Tongue

HOLY CRAP!!! These are the coolest things I have EVER SEEN!

I am most definitely saving my toy money for one of these very soon!

Be careful, lasers are very addictive! After one, you might start craving more, and won't stop until you have every color there is!  Smiley Been there, done that

Here we go. One of the first GB SP30 in a P2Pool:

Is this in the USA DC?
143  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 25, 2014, 11:09:03 AM

Here is a small simulation.
You pay 4000 $ for the hardware, that means about 8 BTC right now
If delivered in 2 months from now, it will give you back 2 BTC at best scenario with a 0.1$ kw/h price.

It's so sad when I see so many people getting scammed by these big companies  Sad

Same goes for both SP30 and SP31.

Your simulation is absolutely useless because the future difficulty prediction has no basis in reality.

If the difficulty will be just a bit better than in your projections then the SP31 is clearly a winner. I can't help noticing that after the so praised ROI the S3 is doing close to nothing, while the SP31 is still doing something. Also I can lower the power efficiency down to 0.58W/GH and doing that will help me earn more money after difficulty reaches 70 billion so getting ROI will be faster than in your projection.

You are forgetting to add in the hosting costs $400/month

Not even in Advania I'm not paying $400/month. My October SP31 will be hosted with jtoomim where I will pay ~$240/month.

I wish I'd seen his offer before the spondoolies DC became available. It's a much better deal even with one month free hosting in the S-T offer. But it's too late to change now as I already paid.
145  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 20, 2014, 11:15:49 PM
Just found about http://www.rigwarz.com/ My only know-how comes from the forum, but it seems that I found an unbiased opinion about the SP30. It seems that it's doing very good besides all the trolls whining. Only 2 days ROI difference between S3 and SP30. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Edit: Well if you add the 12 PSU cost I think that the SP30 might achieve ROI just a little faster than the S3s. Math is nice! Crypto is uber!

Sorry, but that site is significantly flawed. For instance, it claims "* Prices do not include shipping or tax.", yet the S3 price does include shipping. Furthermore, "** ROI calcs assume static conditions for ranking purposes only." It's impossible to compare miners with static conditions fairly.

Only under misleading and unrealistic comparisons might the SP31 ROI before an S3+.

Here's a better comparison not based on absurd math:

S3+ vs SP31

S3+ ROI: 180 days

SP31 ROI: 360 days

There's also a huge change that S3+'s are overclockable to ~500GH. There is also a chance that the SP31 performs like SP30 should have at ~6.6TH but I'd guess it's more likely it ends up closer to 4.5TH.

It's also worth noting that many can use an S3 as a space heater during the winter for free/cheaper electricity.

You forgot the PSU costs. Everyone always forgets the PSU cost. The S3 does not cost $305, it costs at least $350.

I am happier each day that I didn't get caught up in this mess.

What mess is this you are talking about? I don't know why you were 100% sure they'd announce something today, there's still two weeks left of August. Relax.
147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 18, 2014, 03:46:09 PM
They were to start shipping by then, not complete it.

No, Neptunes sold with shipping Q1/Q2 means all of the batch shipping by end of June, not just some.

That might be how you interpret it, but it doesn't mean that was the intention. KNC's first 2 batches of gear last year were advertised as 'starting shipment by ...', not completed shipping by. Context would suggest this also carried over into the new gear.

Example: https://web.archive.org/web/20131109171320/https://www.kncminer.com/categories/miners

"Shipment begins ..."

And for the Neptunes themselves: https://web.archive.org/web/20131212133634/https://www.kncminer.com/categories/miners

"Shipment begins in Q1/Q2 of 2014"

Not completed by, or wholly shipped out by... begins. They've never once said, in any official documentation or newsletter, that their items would be wholly shipped by a certain day--merely begins.

1. They stated in its product description that batch 1 would begin shipping around one month after customer only batch.
2. They stated in its product description that batch 2 would begin shipping around one month after batch 1.
3. They stated in its product description that batch 2 would begin shipping in Q2.

Combine these three statements and you get them saying that the customer only batch would begin shipping two months before the end of Q2, and batch 1 one month before the end of Q2. This obviously didn't happen. The customer only batch began shipping just before Q3, nearly two months late.

Is there any news on the third gen miners? When do you think they will be taped out? Are you still targeting late 2014 for release?
150  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 12, 2014, 10:14:16 AM
15 % diff

There's the problem.

I posted my difficulty predictions in this thread like two months ago, and many people laughed at how low the estimates for difficulty growth was. But so far, it's been right on the money, in fact the actual difficulty is slightly lower than I predicted. Come summer 2015 we will see negative difficulty adjustments more often than 10%+ ones, that is unless the bitcoin price increases dramatically of course.

SP30 users with 110V:
Please update your FW !!asap!! to 2.2.32.
Don't use your miner with FW 2.2.30 or 2.2.31, it can damage your PSU!

The plot thickens

What's stopping people from placing their miners outside, under a small waterproof protection structure or something?  Grin
No noise that you can hear, constant decent ambient temperature without having to buy coolers, etc. It's perfect!

Hey grix, long time ago. I am actually looking for a cheaper green one u got for sale atm. I like your work and figured u might still have something laying around?

I stopped selling DPSS green lasers in my shop due to difficulty sourcing parts instead of whole lasers, plus the fact that I couldn't really compete with the chinese market for pre-built DPSS green lasers anyway. They became a liability.
I have no hosts for those lasers left, BUT, I still have a couple of modules, and it might work to mount them in the same host as all the other lasers I sell. If so, I can sell them off for much cheaper than the rare green lasers I list on my site now. Give me a day or two and I can test it out and put them up for sale if it works, probably in the special/discounted items category.

Our 700mW violet laser have been upgraded to 900mW due a switch to a different diode! And the price stays the same Smiley This is now the most powerful single-mode laser we sell.

I'm not digging through dozens of pages of political bickering. I'm looking for specs.

I know it will be ~4.5TH/s @ ~3000W in a 2U form factor. How loud will the SP30 be?

Like 5 dB or so quieter than SP10 IIRC
157  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: July 29, 2014, 11:50:10 PM
Well, I don't really have a problem with the low hashrate itself if we get a compensation for the lower hash rate. However, with the equal power consumption I assume the price is still ~$290 per month in the hosting datacenter, and that's looking like a bit less of a good deal now.. And I'm basically forced to host it still because of import VAT.

I have a question though, Spondoolies, but it's not urgent so feel free to ignore it if you are too busy. If we are interested in the gen3 chips this winter, can we get a compensation in the form of a future discount coupon? If so, can its value be higher than the pure $ compensation (as you'll earn back some of it anyway)?
158  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: July 28, 2014, 07:59:40 PM
In the official Spondoolies datacenter in Washington (which should be Titan), the rates are:

$0
$0
$400/mo to $500/mo, depending on whether you pay 3 months in advance or pay month-to-month.

You can see those rates on http://www.spondoolies-tech.com/collections/products.

You can view other hosting options in https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=622998.

I think the hosting fees the my SP30 GB will be lower. Waiting for the final specs any time now, but the original offer was for $290 per month. This may change depending on the power consumption.
If your GB stated $290 it should be $290 and nothing more regardless of power consumption. Those were the terms the customer agreed to.

Pretty sure the issue is whether or not the price will be lower, not higher. $290 per month sounded fair at 5-6THps, but if the unit is much weaker than that and we still have to pay the same price for hosting, it can become a much more costly affair than anticipated.

A new beast of a laser is relased! We now sell a 462nm rare blue 2200mW laser! It is our brightest laser yet, the diodes are very impressive.

Shameless plug: in case anyone want to buy lasers that actually deliver on their specs, see my sig Smiley

I wish I had discovered this thread earlier, I could have told you from the beginning that this was an obvious scam. Green lasers at 2000mW are extremely advanced pieces of technology, it is doubtful it would even be possible to make them handheld, let alone in a pointer size running on regular batteries. This thread reads like someone claiming to sell a 1000 horsepower luxury car without any information for $500. It's just not gonna happen. Unfortunately it is common for many laser sellers to lie about powers as many customers couldn't tell the difference between different power levels due to lack of comparisons or power meters.

I have a question about the glasses you sell on your website. Are they just sort of generic ebay/china glasses? It does say OD of 2+ (which is not that high anyway) but how could this be verified?

Yes, they are pretty cheap non-certified glasses. I have measured the OD myself, so I am confident they are safe for hobbyists with the lasers I sell. If you prefer professional glasses, I recommend these: https://sites.google.com/site/dtrlpf/home/laser-safety
