Most lasers are finally back in stock!

So what are the odds of the first tape out having a design flaw that will make us have to wait through a second fab?

Small (lack of) news update: You may have noticed that many lasers have been out of stock for weeks now. It seems my latest parts shipment have been using abnormally long time to arrive. I don't know when lasers when be restocked, but it could be any day now. The 20% off code will be active until I have restocked the lasers and then a few extra days. The 532nm green lasers, the 1800mW blue laser and the 2800mW are still in stock, however. Bitlasers.com Review - 140mW 450nm Single-mode Blue laser - Chance "ChanceCoats123" Coats
Pricing and Selection - When I was first getting into the market for a laser, I knew it sure would be nice to find a store which sells lasers for Bitcoins. A quick search brought me to Bitlasers.com; a clearly setup website with lasers for almost any range of users. Since I was buying my first laser, I knew I didn’t want a very high powered model. I found myself drawn to the 50mW violet laser for less than $50 USD. After reading a bit about what else I would need, I added the CR123a batteries also sold on Bitlasers.com to my cart and was ready to checkout. The process is extremely simple. There are two ways to place an order, as a member, or a guest. I chose to create an account to streamline future purchases and the process took no more than a few minutes. I had placed my order and was given a Bitpay address to send my coins to. I sent the coins and quickly got a confirmation email for my order. With shipping to the US included, the grand total game to less than $70 USD, a more than fair price for what I had chosen. The waiting game began…
Communication - After talking with ‘Grix’, the owner of Bitlasers.com and forum member at Bitcointalk.org about my order, he helped to inform me about the various lasers he sold. I had a few questions about a battery charger as well and he quickly helped me to find a model which would work well with the batteries I purchased. Overall, he was a very polite person to talk to and I wouldn’t hesitate to do business with him a second time.
Product Quality - After reading the FAQ about shipping on the Bitlasers website, I was expecting a two to three week shipping time. After only a week and a half, however, I received a package from Norway… Who do I know from Norway? I quickly headed upstairs and practically ripped the packing open. The entire setup came nicely packed to ensure no damage occurred during the overseas shipping and the parts were all in great shape. The batteries came in a convenient container and the laser came in parts with very clear instructions. I followed the instructions to a ‘T’ and was ready to lase. I’ve done some machine work on a mill and lathe so seeing the nicely machined parts in the kit was a great start. The laser just felt nice in the hand. Everything about the laser was robust and the one that I received even has O-rings on each section to make the laser water proof. The focusing lens is easily change and doesn’t slip around accidentally. I was very pleased to see how nicely the unit turned out and it worked perfectly. For a first time user of a real laser, I was not disappointed in any way.
Extras - As you might have noticed by now, I mentioned ordering a 50mW violet laser, but my review is for a 140mW blue laser… I was contacted by Grix a few days after placing my order and was told that upon testing the 50mW violet diode, he had found it to be defective. Being a very upstanding seller, Grix offered multiple no-cost alternatives for me to choose from, all of which were more expensive than the laser that I had purchased. He could have easily asked me to wait and ordered a replacement diode, but instead he went out the way to please his customer. This is a sign of a truly reputable seller and is the primary reason why I will end up buying more lasers from Grix in the future.
Thanks for the review!

How and when will we be able to arrange hosting for the SP30 GB units? I emailed you a few days ago but I haven't received a response.

When will the reservation fees be distributed (for example to Sean's outpost)? The timing is right now: https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=19283.0Rather quote myself I am still trying to dig up more people to chip for a few more SP30's that we will be hosting in Norway. I am up for anything that gives the small guy a kick at the cat.
Can you send me any info? Is your quote cheaper than 290$/month? Quote as in using quotations around my words and agreeing to what was posted. We have no pricing on the node in Norway yet. You guys are aware of the import VAT right? Fellow Norwegian here, and I opted for the American hosting without hesitation, because shipping the miner to Norway would cost over $1000 extra.

I thought I was done with mining for good when I canceled my Neptune preorder. I must admit, feels pretty good to be back in the game!

A few days ago the chart has suddenly started performing very badly. When I move the cursor over the chart, it runs at like 1-3 fps only, and CPU use spikes. It worked perfectly a while ago. I'm using Windows 8.1 and Pale Moon 24.5.0 (based on firefox 24 I believe)

It's not wise to take out a loan for something as risky as an ASIC preorder.

Am I eligible for the $4500 discounted price if I got a refund from knc about a month ago, a short while before I saw this thread?
Yes! Nice. I think I'll jump on this, but I gotta sleep on it first. Hopefully I won't forget about it until the deadline has passed, hehe. Also, just making sure, the hosting deal for $290 per month is all inclusive, right? I wouldn't need to pay for electricity or anything in addition? And it's available for all customers, not just Americans, right? It would save me a lot because there is a 25% import VAT in my country.

The premise is faulty. Bitcoin's price going down is not negative for bitcoin. I'd much rather have plenty of merchants accepting bitcoin and have it valued at $1 per BTC, than almost no vendors and have it valued at $1000 per BTC.

It is now two whole years since I started this thread and opened the store! To celebrate, use the coupon code 2YEARS for a 20% discount on orders over $100!

I just tried to enter this link: coindeskDOTus/cd/chicago-sun-times-gets-11-new-subscriptions-bitcoin/ , and immediately my antivirus displayed a warning saying that a trojan had been blocked. Not simply a suspicious file or anything, but a confirmed trojan by the looks of it. Coindesk might be hijacked and spreading malware, be careful. Here are the details from my AV, which is Avast: URL: h_sten-ex_hr__6396_xap|kind_dll Infection: MSIL:FiestaEK-C [Trj]

It sounds like you are talking purely from a speculator perspective, which is narrow-minded. Right now I don't own any bitcoins but I am far from "out of the game". Bitcoin is about its advantages and innovation, it's not a get-rich-quick scheme.

I finally requested a refund. It was a fun run, but I now estimate that if I am to make a profit, BTC will have to rise in value, and in that case it would obviously be better to just buy BTC directly.

Just a couple of questions : How long does it run on the batteries and when are you going to make lightsabres Heheh! Battery life depends a lot on the type of laser. On most models you can see the working current listed in the specs, by dividing the battery capacity by the working current you can get a rough estimate. Do you have any idea when the chargers will be back in stock? I'd love to grab one of the 50mW Violet lasers with a set of the RCR123's, but I want to be able to recharge them if needed. Also, are you still looking for competent reviews? Thanks in advance!
It might be a couple of weeks unfortunately. Suddenly I was overrun by orders with chargers so I ran out before I was able to stock up. You can get chargers online though, for example ebay. I was about to close the review offer window but I can make an exception if you order.

After much consideration I think I'm going to request a refund on my closed batch one Neptune preorder. However, if anyone is interested in buying the preorder for more than I'll get if I refund, you can have my spot in the queue. KNC won't let me change the shipping address, so I'll have to wait for the miner to arrive and then promptly forward it to your address.
Unfortunately, because of import VAT, the price goes up quite a lot if I were to receive it, so to be able to beat the KNC refund, the starting bid is $13500, including express shipping worldwide. In other words, around the same as open batch 1 (and this order will ship earlier).
Bitcoin payment only, I can not afford the risk of chargebacks. Sale is final regardless of any eventual good or bad news from KNC. I can be trusted, I have run the webstore bitlasers.com for two years now, with hundreds of customers.
In case you don't know, the Neptune is a 3000Ghps+ miner, scheduled to ship in Q2. Word on their forum is that the miner will likely be more than 3Thps, maybe even 4Thps. The chips were sent to tapeout in February.
