301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It’s dying for the 378th time, so when’s the 379th? on: November 27, 2019, 03:59:41 PM
Bitcoin and leading cryptocurrency prices have taken a major hit over the last couple of days. As you might expect, there are no shortage of volunteers to deliver its last rites given the recent volatility.

Over the last 24 hours, Bitcoin has shed around $14 billion from its total market capitalization. This has brought the price down to around $7,180 at the time of writing.

Source link here

For the 378th time, Bitcoin is dying.

I’ve seen a lot of news over and over that “Bitcoin is dying for the XXX time”. I wish somebody from the press would actually have a different kind of headline such as “Bitcoin was resurrected for the 378th time”.

At the end of the day, you can’t kill Bitcoin. It may have died 378 times, but was resurrected 378 times as well.

It’s like we’re playing a Playstation “Bitcoin” game with Gameshark cheat codes enabling “Unlimited lives for Bitcoin”.

I can’t wait for Bitcoin to die (and resurrected) for the 379th time. Grin
when the price bitcoin drop some people always think or announced that bitcoin will die and after seeing it over and over I'm getting used to it
i dont think it will just stop in 379th time there will be more in the future and only those who dont know anything about bitcoin will believe it
302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does cryptocurrency mining produce more pollution? on: November 27, 2019, 03:50:29 PM
Ever since cryptocurrency has existed people have started to mine it using their PCs or Miners’ GPUs. Considering that cryptocurrency mining consumes a lot of electricity because of it using a lot of processing power, does it really cause a large ecological impact on the world?

Every time I see mining operations around the world, there are multiple miners in one place ranging from dozens to even hundreds in for those who can afford a lot of miners. That got me thinking that since there are a lot of GPUs running at once then it must use a lot of electricity which means that power plants, as a result, will need to generate more electricity which will lead to more pollution.

Is the carbon footprint of these mining operations large enough to make a large impact on the world or it doesn’t really cause a lot of pollution in the long run.
What do you guys think and are there any greener solutions for mining cryptocurrencies?

some mining company is starting to use renewal like solar, wind and many more
it might add pollution due to a large amount of electricity consumption
but like any other establishment that uses electricity it just same in mining, it is just additional
maybe the best solution is to donate some dollars for trees when price of bitcoin rise and after we earn some profit to lessen pollution.

303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: JuSt a wish on: November 27, 2019, 02:26:50 PM
This is just if, new projects are finding it hard to list on top exchanges because of listing funds but since market is not in a good season why is top exchange listing fee still that high? Top exchanges are not making it easy for new projects to list on their exchanges or am i missing some good information?

And about binance IEO is there anyone on here who can tell me more about them? i mean if a project like eminer can conduct IEO on binance why can't others? is there some kind of agreement like taking IEO fundraising fee after IEO is successful?

Damn i wish new projects can just have their chances as well, now that bitcoin is losing its value things are getting more harder for new projects
not all team behind the new IEO can afford the listing fee of large exchange like binance
even they can afford it there still a lot requirement needed for the team to submit
304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 💩 We are now in the “shitcoin” season? 💩 on: November 27, 2019, 02:16:10 PM
there a chance that altcoin season will happen next year if the price of bitcoin rise in the next halving and its only applicable to the good coin with a dedicated team and large community but the risk is so high and there a chance that you will lose all your money because we can't predict which coin will survive in the next bull run.

305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Good trading volume doesn't mean a token is good on: November 26, 2019, 04:02:41 PM
Large volumes of coin tokens can be manipulated easily. I once traded coins that were rarely in demand but the volume of coins was high. High volume was indeed manipulated using bots. I can't sell coins properly. A healthy coin volume is when many trade without using bots.
i agree there is a lot of bot and it is used to make the volume for the coin or token
so we can't really based to the volume if we are looking for a good coin to invest or trade

306  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are ICOs really DEAD or simply cleared a path for better projects? on: November 26, 2019, 03:57:50 PM
Even after the onset of the bear market in January 2018, ICOs were still happening at a rate
of well over a hundred each month, but by 2019 the flow of projects had dwindled to almost nothing.

ICO PROCEEDS DROP TO $338M..

According to figures from cryptocurrency analytics firm LongHash and published on October 1,
ICOs are no longer profitable. They may even disappear completely in 2020, said researchers.
https://bitcoinist.com/icos-will-disappear-in-2020-as-data-shows-95-funding-decline/

But here on BitcoinTalk we see new [ANN] threads and [BOUNTIES]
Is this just smoke and mirrors or does this forum know something researchers do not?
it's really hard to predict if ICO's will completely disappear next year
but if the scam in ICO's will continue more people will not participate in ICO's next year even in bounties, many people stop doing it already

307  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why would one pay $7K for Bitcoin if he can get the same thing for $0.001? on: November 26, 2019, 03:47:44 PM
Imagine an electronic producer that pays $10,000 for 1 gram of gold, while in the same time a metal with better electrical properties costs less then a cent.

Imagine a trader who gives his 10,000 units of fiat currency X for the same amount of fiat currency Y, although the bank created X with his 5,000 square foot luxury mansion as a collateral, while the collateral for X was only Kia Pride vehicle.

Imagine an investor that pays $1,000 for a stock with a book value of $1 and earnings of $0.01, while in the same time he can buy a stock with a book value of $2,000 and earnings of $500 for the same amount of money.

Imagine a guy that pays $1,000 for the Cheeseburger while in the same time he can get the Big Mac for only $1.

The above scenarios would be crazy because no one would trade his thing for something that has thousands or millions time less utility. Nor would someone pay a thousand or a million times more money for the same or even worse thing. That is why the above scenarios are not possible in reality.

But... in the crypto world, they are possible. People are paying thousands or even million times more for bitcoin than for some altcoins, even though these coins have the same features as bitcoin. Functions and features of cryptos are pretty straightforward. Elimination of expensive brokers, lawyers, and other typical “middlemen”. Low transaction costs. Transactions are transparent, quick, permanent, and hard to fake. Cryptos that are priced below $0.001 have all these functions and features. But, people in the crypto world buy bitcoin that is priced above $7,000. They are paying pay millions time more for the same thing. Why they behave so irrationally?

you cant blame user for not buying new altcoin today because the risk is very high
some of the new altcoin is created just to take your money or to scam people
many of them look legit but in the end, the team behind it will just vanish or stop developing the coin

308  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If You Bought Bitcoin Each Week in 2019, You’d Be up 49% on: November 26, 2019, 03:40:19 PM
If you would have averaged your Bitcoin buys weekly, you’d be up by almost 50% for the year—an impressive statistic that proves it is smart to spread out your buys.

Does averaging out your buys instead of going ‘all in’ make for a better strategy? With making large buys, it’s about timing the market. However, averaging out your Bitcoin buys over a longer period of time has brought great returns for investors this year.

Full news here

I honestly do not know what to say about this guys, but dang! If only I can afford buying Bitcoin every week and having guts of taking risks in this unpredictable market, for sure I would be in profits by now.

However, do you guys agree about this one? Up to this date, most of the market move are in favor of the bulls than the bears.

Even the bulls are pushing the price higher, the bears are not slowing down in pulling it back. We are still up by the way. From over $3k last January and now hovering around $7.2k after this year’s high of almost $14k.

That 49 % number will quickly go down as the price of Bitcoin continues to fall.  Looking back at a price graph and saying you should have bought starting in XXX date is very dishonest and unrealistic, most people will never get the timing that perfect... Saying you should have started to purchase in January 2019, after looking at the price chart history is easy 🤣🤣🤣   If you had purchased a bitcoin per month starting in January 2018 you would not have made as much money, or maybe even lost money.

The only thing that matters is what to do NOW...   Looking at the price charts, it appears that Bitcoin will be going down significantly.  The risk of holding a large amount of bitcoin is HUGE being how fast the price can drop, and considering that Bitcoin has zero intrinsic value beyond what some greater fool will pay for it.  No one is buying bitcoin for " value ", people buy bitcoin hoping that the price will go to the moon, and hoping that they will get rich.  The day that Mania ends, the price of bitcoin will go lower than anyone ever thought possible.

Hard Facts
in my opinion, it's the opposite the price of bitcoin can go higher in the next few months because of the incoming halving
it's not a baseless opinion but if you follow bitcoin price it always happens before or after halving
309  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paypal CEO Is a HODLr, but Only Owns Bitcoin on: November 26, 2019, 03:25:14 PM
PayPal CEO Dan Schulman, in describing why the payment company decided to withdraw from Libra, also revealed that he is a hodlr of cryptocurrency, but only Bitcoin.

Interviewed by Fortune magazine, he answered the question if he personally owned any cryptocurrency:

“Yes. Bitcoin.”

Source link here

Okay now this seems to be pretty interesting to me. Since he's a Bitcoin HODLer, I don't know if this is a sign that he could add BTC as one of features for Paypal. If that happens, I don't know what would that be. Probably might integrate Bitcoin as one of the payment options aside from Visa, Mastercard and AMEX?

I have a Paypal account until now, but I only use it like few times a year since entering into the world of cryptocurrencies. Paypal was the payment processor I trusted during my early years as a virtual assistant. However, their fees are eating our funds apart. This is why Bitcoin is such a great alternative, and no doubt Dan Schulman's already convinced about owning some Bitcoin in the first place.
it can give a big boost to bitcoin if PayPal integrate into their platform
paypal have high fee for merchant transaction but you can also send funds to family without fee

310  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin Hit As Per The Experts Predictions? on: November 26, 2019, 03:19:01 PM
Well!! Crypto market is quite slow nowadays as a lot of crypto experts predicted their bitcoin predictions

Will Bitcoin Hit Again?
there is a possibility that bitcoin price will rise again because of the incoming halving next year
but I'm still not sure. I just based it in the history of the price of bitcoin and events
311  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: How exchanges treat the stolen Money? on: November 25, 2019, 12:24:34 PM
I am curious to know, how Exchanges treat the stolen money or hack money? Are they really aware of it? Just think, your fund has been hacked and transferred from your wallet to another wallet and then it's deposited to an exchange. If you claim to the exchange about the money, Are they not responsible for taking necessary action? What do you think?
if you have some evidence maybe the exchange will freeze the user account
usually exchange just freeze the account of the suspect to stop them from using their platform
but I'm not sure if they will give back the funds to the owner
312  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: is this still possible today? on: November 24, 2019, 08:34:07 PM
I just find out that some coins might start with very low volume and marketcap and end up growing big? true or false? i tracked back some old coins that start with trading volume around 6k and end up in millions, is this still possible today?
its almost impossible today before people invest and see the potential of the new coin thats why the price of the coin rise
and the team behind the project really prove that they have the potential to go big thats why people keep investing in the coin and trust the project
but if you will compare it today it really becomes hard to know which coin is legit
313  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Prices are showing on Yahoo Finance on: November 24, 2019, 08:25:12 PM

314  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Need suggest invest in small amount on: November 24, 2019, 08:17:03 PM

I have little amount in bitcoin $279 and Ethereum $72, so where i can invest now? IEO/ICO or old coins in CMC?

If you want give me suggest for IEO then you can explain, which exchange best for a successful IEO.
Basically ICO no have good position now this time, so another chance making profitable for OLD coins?

thanks to all
holding bitcoin might be the best option right now because of incoming halving
you can an also invest in some popular altcoin but the risk is still high
investing in IEO/ICO have a higher risk because you dont know if the coin will still continue
315  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Metamask hacked ? on: November 24, 2019, 07:27:25 PM
I  just saw this transaction that I didn't make myself. Does my metamask is hacked? I have 8 address in that account. and nothing is touched after that txn https://etherscan.io/tx/0x359dd6b8154e7711d9e21ad5520ceba687f58619d87a7a77dd66c5b103124d3a
there is a possibility that you connect your metamask account in some non trusted website
you should be aware that metamask is like an application but not a wallet that if you connect it in some website
there is a possibility that they will have the ability to use your wallet
316  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I think crypto world needs... on: November 24, 2019, 07:17:47 PM
What do you think the crypto world needs at the moment? (I'm talking about projects)

In my opinion there is no real platform/website that offers everything you need. For example, news, some kind of trading tools or indicators, educational program maybe hot articles etc...

in my opinion, what we need right now is the knowledge to help the newbie to learn more about bitcoin or crypto in an easy way
317  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Whale Withdraws $89M BTC, Despite Bloody Market on: November 23, 2019, 04:47:01 PM
Despite Bitcoin plummeting in value, it seems that whales haven’t lost their appetite. One major BTC whale just withdrew 12,000 BTC ($89M) to an external wallet.

The market is in chaos today as Bitcoin experienced another double-digit drop. Just a week ago, Bitcoin was trading at $8,700 — it is now trading at around $7,100. For the first time since May 2019, the market capitalization of the entire cryptocurrency market is under $200B. According to the Crypto Greed & Fear Index, the current sentiment is one of ‘Extreme Fear.’

Source link here

Look guys, I know how it feels when we are in a bloody market. Correct me if I’m wrong, but there will be two scenarios about this Bitcoin whale:

Scenario 1: He bought it at a higher price and withdrew it while Bitcoin is on a bloodbath.

Scenario 2: He bought it at a lower price years ago, and withdrew it without even have to worry about the bloodbath.

If there would be another scenario, what would it be? Can you share it here guys? Thanks in advance!
base on the article we are not really sure if they sell their coin or just move it.
but there is also some scenario where a whale is selling their coin to scare some holder for the price to drop and buy back at the lower price.
it always happens before and usually, it happens when there is incoming halving or some potential price rise.
318  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Government Could Shutdown Bitcoin? on: November 23, 2019, 04:35:26 PM
I read this article online that the government could stop the Bitcoin? Easily using a simple trick.
Making the bitcoin market price staying in under a 1000$ for a long time and wait for the people to lose interest in it.

For me, this is easier said than done, making the bitcoin market price lower than 1000$ would encourage investors to invest in bitcoin that will inevitably affect the market price.

What is your opinion about this? Could the government do this?

https://bitcoinist.com/bitcoin-could-be-stopped-by-governments-pretty-simply/
its really simple to said than done. in my opinion, the government can only ban bitcoin in their country by not using it but stoping bitcoin is nearly impossible even they ban it in their country. bitcoin transactions will continue as long as there are some miners and some people using it in another country.

319  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What will be the alternate plan - second option on: November 23, 2019, 04:23:25 PM
There is big expectation among each and every cryptocurrency investor regarding the year 2020. We don't know what we gonna experience precisely, all that's been made is out of comparisons and price predictions with several references and related positive and negative news around.

By 2020 if the market doesn't move as most of the experts predicted and experience to move in the opposite direction. What is the alternate plan or the second option you've kept prepared to minimize the loss and keep up the value almost same on the portfolio.

By those instance what will be the choice of selection. Over which cryptocurrencies you'll plan to move your investments. I personally haven't got much of holding, if something happens against prediction only way is to move towards stablecoins.
for me instead of moving in  stable coin
im going to do more job-related in crypto and accept it as payment
if the price crypto will go lower than the current price its good because i can earn more crypto
and maybe can become one of my best opportunity to have more crypto
320  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what solutions do make to cover Loss on: November 23, 2019, 04:18:23 PM
Personally , I lost nearly 1500$  from day trading. I do buy back theory now to recover the loss and invest on potential ico's. now i am going on a slowly steady way ,  if we get greedy then  we end up with nothing.

whats your solutions do you do for cover the loss?
investing in potential ico can make you lose more money because it become hard to know which coin really has potential
in my opinion, investing in bitcoin or other popular altcoin is the best option right now
for bitcoin the potential of price increase is high because of incoming halving and every time the price of bitcoin rise the next is the altcoin season.
