1581  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Appropriate percentage of income for gambling on: July 14, 2023, 11:46:19 PM
No fix allocation to anyone since even though you already set some amount to spend but there are times that you deposit a little bit more just to satisfy yourself because you didn't satisfied yet.
Even if no fixed amount of money to use weekly, but I think we need to set the maximum amount to spend. I think it is the purpose why OP made a vote about how much the percentage of money to use weekly.

If we want to satisfy ourselves, we may lose all our money. Everyone must understand if we will never be satisfied. When we got a loss, we probably spend more money to chase the win in order to make up for defeat. While when we wins, we may use more money in order to chase more prizes. Unfortunately, the chance to win is very small, using more money can't create more chance to win. Instead of earning more, people mostly lose more money. It will happen if you don't set a maximum amount to spend in gambling.

1582  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies Stop Teaching When You Need To Learn. on: July 14, 2023, 11:29:02 PM
I agreed with the op, a newbie is always a newbie, even he or she is experts in bitcoin, as they are joining the forum for the very first time they are newbies in the forum so they have to lie low to observe things to learn about the forum and contribute meaningful contributions from the knowledge they have from outside and not to render services to people to follow. Bitcoin is very deep that nobody knows all, everyone knows there areas of expert and not all areas.
If it is about forum, I agree that newbies shouldn't teach others because they actually have just started to know forum. When they teach others, they may lose their focus or share something they don't really understand. Other people can misunderstand it, or people got unproven knowledge. This is something too early to do by newbies.

Contributing on the forum can be varied, it is not only about the knowledge about forum. Newbies can share their experience on the other field (out side of forum), everyone must have their own experience to share with others. If it is about the experience on trading or investment, I still can trust newbies. Newbie accounts don't always mean newbie trader or newbie investor.

*I assume sharing isn't intended to teach others.

1583  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Understanding Bitcoin's Potential Realistically on: July 14, 2023, 11:08:05 PM
While we all share a belief in Bitcoin's potential it's crucial to strike a balance between optimism and realism. Placing Bitcoin as a sole savior in solving all the world's problems might not be a practical approach. We should all remember that Bitcoin at its core is a currency meant to serve as a decentralized medium of exchange. We should not bother it with unrealistic expectations.
Indeed. Everyone must think realistically about the potential of Bitcoin. I never trust anyone who state that Bitcoin will be the main world currency, I think it is impossible. But when people state the price of Bitcoin can be above $100k, I can believe it since we can analyze the price history through the chart patterns. From the matters, I believe we can understand which one is overly optimistic and realistic expectation.

We must also recognize that not all countries will readily embrace Bitcoin regardless of its undisputed qualities. Governments tend to have different perspectives on Bitcoin and some may be hesitant to change their existing views and regulations. The acceptance of Bitcoin on a global scale will likely be a gradual process spanning several decades to reach its full potential.
Of course, the government has their own perspective. But if we consider the development of Bitcoin adoption on the countries around the world, we can see a positive progress on it. Although Bitcoin can be fully accepted, most governments allow their citizen to use Bitcoin as a digital asset now. While for accepting Bitcoin as a legal currency, it seems a bit difficult because it will bring too much impact on the country. However, I assume we are getting closer for the massive Bitcoin adoption around the world.

1587  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Minimum Age to gamble on: July 07, 2023, 11:59:09 PM
I think age shouldn't only be the basis but rather the status of a person, financially and emotionally. We all know how challenging gambling is and we also know our capability before to handle things when we were 18. I don't think that age is already mature enough to deal with the challenges of gambling.
Decision making is quite hard to handle and it requires the right mindset to create a good one. A person should be mentally prepared before he enters gambling and must have a stable income. Because you can be mature at 18 but unstable so you might only be risking your parent's funds.
It's better to gamble when you already have your own source of income than when you're still relying on others. The ability to sustain gambling should be the basis and not just the age.
That's why the age limit are varied. In some countries or certain casinos, the age limit can be above 20 years old. They think the same as you, 18 years old is still not mature enough. However, no guarantee that 20+ will be mature enough, the development of mentality each person can be different. So, it will be difficult to determine when someone is mature enough. It is something related to their educational background, genetical factor, and the environmental influences. In this matter, how you determine the basis is? I'm not sure if casinos are eager to assess/observe each new member with complex/complicated indicators.

1588  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do I become a successful Bitcoin investor as a newbies? on: July 07, 2023, 11:49:22 PM
Knowledge is the first thing to have. Knowledge make us know how to invest in a proper way, how the potential of crypto coins, and how to deal with risks. We also won't be affected with the FUDs if we have sufficient knowledge because we know what the truth is. Personally, I assume knowledge has the most crucial role for the success in a crypto investment or a crypto trading.

The second one to have is a strong mentality and good emotional management. These are needed to deal with FUDs and the high volatility in crypto, weak people never have a chance to success in crypto. We need to have good psychology to survive in crypto  business.

The last one to have is experience. People call it as the best source for lessons, experiences learn people to have a better attitude and smarter. If we have a lack experience, we probably won't be confident to hold crypto coins for a long time. It needs a lot of research and learning process, to be a confident holder/trader and have enough knowledge.

1590  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Buy more ETH..... on: July 06, 2023, 11:52:21 PM
Maybe I think ETH is the leader in the Park when it comes to altcoins I mean right now the only best smart-contract is ETH and it has the highest liquidity so yeah I think once regulations passes on ETH then no doubt it will get to around ten-figures So yeah ETH will be big but also try lookup other tokens I think SUI and Aptos are a good fit
Which one is the best smart-contract can be debatable, but the most popular one is clearly Ethereum. There are some indicators to know which one is the best smart-contract, you can check it here https://cointelegraph.com/learn/smart-contract-development-platforms.

SUI and Aptos are incomparable with ETH. Although these tokens are quite hype now, they aren't proven for a long time. Previously we have EOS, NEM, WAVES, or LUNA, they are ever hype a few years ago. But now, they are no longer hype and rarely people who assume they are potential or good tokens anymore. So, it is okay if you want to hold SUI or Aptos for a short time, but I think they aren't recommended for a long time.

1591  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you still hunt for airdrops? on: July 06, 2023, 11:33:16 PM
I believe before participating in any airdrops, it is worth checking the official website of the project and analyzing it.
You also need to pay attention to the proposed product, technology and get to know the team.
I think most people do this. Before they join the airdrops, they will analyze the site and the project itself. However, it won't be easy to determine whether it is a good or bad project. The products or MVPs can look good in the early of promotion, but it may end up with poor development in the future. About the team members, it is easy to manipulate their identities. Sometimes, it is a bit difficult to analyze the background of each team member.

Never follow suspicious links or connect your wallet to suspicious websites.
Sure, be careful to connect our private wallets. Never do it if it seems not secure enough.

Stayaway from connecting your wallet to multiple garbage Sites people Maybe check the project first research its community and check the backers Most project dont ask to  connect wallet to collect airdrop just like that.
It is true that commonly they only ask for the wallet address, they don't ask for connecting the wallets.
However, if there is a task to connect our private wallets, it is better to create new wallets. Never connect the wallets where we hold our tokens/coins.

1592  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Minimum Age to gamble on: July 06, 2023, 11:06:22 PM
There are many purposes of KYC not just the two that you mentioned. There is that; It is used for the government to get involved in the casino so that they can legally tax them. KYC can also be used to possibly prevent or reduce the fraudulent activity inside the casino.

If the casino is not strict enough in terms of KYC verifications then yes it can be bypassed easily if the gambler is also wise enough. Inside job can also happen where the casino can get bribes in exchange of immediate access and these gamblers will not be asked by a KYC in the future. There are casinos who doesn't mandate a KYC but only restrict some certain countries. This can easily be bypassed by using a VPN but this was still risky because our accounts or withdrawals can get blocked later on.
Indeed. KYC may have varied purposes, not only 2 purposes I stated above. I never said that KYC only has 2 purposes, so I never limit the purposes.
I agree that tax issues and avoid fraudulent activity are 2 other reasons of KYC procedure. Without KYC, the government has no chance to identify people's data to be imposed with the tax. The casino will be also difficult to handle fraudulent activities because they have no data of each gambler. These are just the examples of the benefits of KYC.

That's exactly what the points of my explanation above.
KYC verification can be manipulated with fake data, but I think it will be a small chance to bribe money to the team members of the casinos. Regarding the country restriction, surely it can be bypassed by VPN. But the gambler ID can show where the gambler comes, it can't be handle by VPN only. However, it can still be passed with fake data.

1593  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcointalk; a school on its own. on: July 06, 2023, 10:50:28 PM
It fits perfectly to define the Bitcointalk Forum as a school, I totally agree with this assumption. Anyone who comes here will be taught basic things about Bitcoin and other alternative cryptocurrencies, anyone can develop their knowledge while they are here.
Something that is not yet known can be learned here, the Bitcointalk forum can also be used as a place to look for bonuses while learning. The more senior members have benefited a lot here, they are also very friendly to newcomers by pointing the juniors to finer things.
Whether it fits or not to call Bitcointalk as a school, it is true that Bitcointalk is the right place to improve knowledge. We even don't learn about Bitcoin or crypto only, we also learn world current issues and many things related to our daily life. Since forum requires for quality posts, most people post valid information here. So, this forum deserves to be a place to learn many things.

Another thing that makes this forum is interesting that we can join any discussion with varied topics. We don't only get knowledge or information from other people, we also can deliver information to other people. So, everyone here can contribute to improve knowledge each others. Whether seniors or newcomers have opportunities to share information or their knowledge.

1594  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Minimum Age to gamble on: July 05, 2023, 11:58:44 PM
for crypto casinos maybe KYC verification is more organized. but for other online casinos, especially those that focus on access with fiat or even those with applications such as slot games. Data verification is rarely important in games like that.
I don't see the difference between crypto casinos and other online casinos. KYC should be organized and the verification must be important. Any type of casinos will follow the same rules, they must exclude the underage. But the problem is on the way to validate the data, it is always a chance to manipulate it, no matter how strict the process is.

still, children who are still in school or not old enough according to regulations can still access gambling applications. After all, there are people who do not like KYC, and some casinos and gambling sites can make it easy for them to keep playing.
In each country, the age limit can be different. But generally, school kids shouldn't join gambling since they are actually underage. They are not mature enough to play gambling, it may lead to early addiction.

1595  Economy / Economics / Re: I cannot go home if I don't make a lot of money now!! on: July 05, 2023, 11:52:05 PM
Previously, did your mother demand that you always get good scores in a math test? If not, why should you be afraid.
He only stated to feel afraid when he got 0 (zero) mark. He didn't say his mother become angry when he can't get score as expected. I assume it is just his assumption that his mother will angry, it was probably never proven. He may feel too negatively about the consequence.

Excessive fear will make you more trapped in nightmares, you will find it difficult to be creative if you cannot get rid of fear.
Agree. Feel excessively/negatively will lead us to have no satisfaction in doing everything. People who think in this way will be difficult to accept his destiny and probably feel afraid to try new things. At the end of the day, it is hard to enjoy his life because he always think badly if he failed to do something.

Regarding the money you have to take home depending on your job, normally in one line of work you can bring home $10 or $15 each day. Don't be too pressured to bring home $20 because you have to work overtime to get more benefits.
Agree. We must thank to the God whatever the amount of money we get everyday. Even it is only $10, we can feel happy if we think positively.

1596  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Buy more ETH..... on: July 05, 2023, 11:37:13 PM
Looking at effective price of altcoins ETH has not really record a bad history and very soon ETH will hit way bigger and better,
Every coin has its ATL (all time low), no coin never experienced a bad history.
Sure, ETH will increase its price gradually following the trend of Bitcoin price. Every altcoins will reach a bigger and bigger price if Bitcoin price continues to grow. And if we constantly have positive/good news.

if you have sphere money buy plenty of it and allow it to run for five years and watch what the outcome will be.
Sphere money? do you mean spare money?
It shouldn't take for five years. The next bullrun probably happens in 2024-2025, it means it only take 1-2 years.

Let's not surprise when ETH will shook the market cap of world trade many will be made billionaires and by then it will be too late for others you didn't buy at all.
It is your speculation. I think BTC will be always in the top of best market caps.
Not everyone invests in big amount of money. So, only those people who have big numbers of ETH that possibly become billionaires.

1597  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kyc for wallets on: July 05, 2023, 11:09:13 PM
kyc puts you personal information and privacy at risk it also gives ability for your transactions to be monitored.
So please before making wallet registrations always read through terms and conditions as well as privacy policy
Or rather get a hard ware wallet especially if you have large amounts of Bitcoin or other crypto currencies
KYC is required for wallets on CEX (centralized exchanges).
If we don't want to have KYC procedure, we must choose non-custodial wallets.
There are some alternatives for non-custodial wallets:
1). Software wallets
Ex: Metamask
2). Hardware wallets
Ex: Nano X
3). Paper wallets

For a big number of Bitcoin, non-custodial wallets are the most recommended.

Take a look:
https://www.coindesk.com/learn/custodial-wallets-vs-non-custodial-crypto-wallets/
https://www.ledger.com/academy/glossary/non-custodial-wallet

Noncustodial wallets do not require KYC, he is referring to custodial wallets and custodial exchanges. Both are not even wallets, they are accounts.
Agree. It is actually an account and it is not a private wallet. Custodial wallets or wallets on exchanges can be a place to put Bitcoin in small number temporarily, but it is surely not a safe place for long term holding.

1598  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: July 04, 2023, 11:59:11 PM
Vlahovic is a 23-year-old player who plays as a striker for Juventus and also for the Serbian national team.
He is also quite a talented player in my opinion to make Chelsea interested in making an offer to Juventus for Vlahovic.
The offer submitted by Chelsea was still not commensurate with the performance provided by Vlahovic for Juventus, so it was only natural that Juventus rejected the offer.
Instead of accepting the offer, I'm sure Juventus will keep Vlahovic as one of their core players considering that Juventus really need great players this summer.
True. The offer isn't enough for Juventus. They must reject the offer below the market value. They know Vlahovic is a potential striker and can be better in the future. Vlahovic is still 23 years old, there is still a long time for him to grow his ability. I'm sure Juventus wants him as their future asset, so Juventus prefer to keep him. But if there is an interesting offer, Juventus may change their mind.

I do not understand
In my opinion, Juventus is not in a position to refuse
true potentially it's worth 70, but if they give you 60 and since you're in a bit of a bad way with the money, take it and that's good
there's no point in throwing money with a player who doesn't want to play with you (among other things)
It is not too complicated, you should understand it. Vlahovic is still young, has a good performance, and worth €70 million. If you are Juventus management, you must reject Chelsea offer because it's not worth the Vlahovic's value. Moreover, Vlahovic has stated that he wants to stay with Juventus for a more season. So, Juventus has no reason to sell him at under market value.

1599  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Minimum Age to gamble on: July 04, 2023, 11:52:51 PM
This is another issue with the KYC, that is FAKE documents submit to pass the KYC (And I will discuss this separately) but if the casino can't check if the data provided with us is real or fake, then what is the purpose of the KYC. Casinos should have a mechanism to verify the data and an intelligent system that can detect fake ID Cards, driving licenses, and/or passport submissions.

They could make use of live camera technology to scan these documents but the point is that once they make an effort to collect real data, they should also make use of that data correctly, which means that they should filter the minors and deny them the opportunity to gamble.
The purpose of KYC procedure is to eliminate the underage and the people from restricted countries. But there is always a chance for people to manipulate the data, they can use fake data to register on the casino sites. Casino must have a good mechanism to validate the data, but Casino has no ability to know who is the real user of the account. As I said above, underage can use his parents data, while people from restricted area can use other people data from permitted area. No mechanism is perfect, even a strong security can be hacked by scammers.

1600  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is buying merit parmited on: July 04, 2023, 11:45:01 PM
The forum has no control on it but as a responsible member, you should know that buying merits are strictly prohibited and should never be encouraged. Simply because that will not be your asset and that will not make you knowledgeable and become significant member in the forum. Merits are only given to those who deserve it, and not to be bought since your worth and quality will never be bought in the first place.
Forum controls it, that's why DT members give a red tag to the member who is buying merits. If forum has no control, forum won't respond anything to the merit sales.

Of course, every member mustn't sell or buy their merits, it is actually not a proper way. It is unfair to get merits without any effort, people get merits because of their contribution and the quality of their posts. It is the only way to get merits, buying merits can be categorized by cheating the merit system.

I agree that merits are only for the deserved members. Improve posts quality, more active, and do any contribution to earn merits. It is the way to deserve for merits!
