1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: (Review/Guide) Hotmine X6 7.4 Th/s, 1150 W Bitcoin (SHA-256) ASIC miner on: October 02, 2018, 03:41:24 AM
Hello, thank you. But now everything is different, we already have a new product WX2 energy efficiency 0.11, which heats houses, here's the link to it https://hotmine.io/en/catalog/5

So basically, the x6 isn't getting made anymore?
that link goes to the WX12 not WX2, and is $1300 the x6 was $540
.. hell, cant even get " x5/6upgrade kits" :|

yeah "Everything is different" gotta go big numbers, like every other company, ignoring the under 1KW people...

Ha! never mind then, looks like the buckets were sold off then! Good work, onto the next project then?
3  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [FOR SALE/DONATION] GekkoScience 2Pac USB stick FACTORY SECONDS on: August 23, 2018, 03:11:26 AM
Flat shipping within the US...

What would be the estimate for 5 of them to the Aussieland?

Nice work i like it. You are a genie.

Genie = https://www.halloweencostumes.com/i-dream-of-jeannie-costume.html

Such genies imply the use of magic smoke.

Terminus R808 - magic smoke = bad thing.

Therefore: NO GENIE FOR YOU.

no Magic Smoke that You know of Wink
5  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience is now dabbling with 16nm ASICs for new designs on: June 15, 2018, 04:24:42 AM

I'm sure 16nm will soon be a better buy as 12nm becomes the next standard. Would be interested to know if it would be better to try 12nm.

"12nm" is not a new process, it's a process improvement of "16nm" that is run on the same fab lines.
The rename is more about marketing than any significant change to the feature size.
It's also NOT going to free up any fab space or capacity on the current "16nm" lines.

Going to get even worse in the next generation - what Intel and Samsung (and IBM) are calling "10nm" and shipping TODAY is almost identical to the announced specs for what TSMC and GF are calling "7nm".

Then the generation after that - IF THERE IS ONE - may not be a silicon generation, given Intel comments about "10nm is the end of the road for pure silicon" and IBM using a mixed silicon/germanium wafer in their work on 7nm.

now I'm trying to remember if that was the pixel size with the lithograph, or the size of the transistor they can make?..
makes no difference really with the transistor, they still produce heat when they switch states..

What is a "Legacy Account" anyway? I've been logging into mine almost every day, I signed up last year, gave then all the required details, so how can my account be a "Legacy"?

And hell, what if you have no way of providing the requested "Passport," "Photo ID" or "Licence"?
what if you DONT want to give them those details without a clear statement on what they are going to use it for (GDPR Compliant type thing)?

snip..

It's some kind of scam alt coin, and not relevant to this thread, Mr. Bounty collector. If it isn't Bitcoin it doesn't belong here.

meh, I just reported it to mods, I'm just ignoring it. probably spammed it in others across this board. just checked, nope.

This might be exciting news then

mmm, low quality video, looking like they are stacking little aluminium cuts, into trays.. "Yah i see chips, MUST be real!"

well, the looks of them, they are 50x50mm BGA chipsets. looks something like the old KnC miner chips..

none the less, still no stats on what the chips are or how they are laid out..
9  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience is now dabbling with 16nm ASICs for new designs on: February 02, 2018, 03:43:26 AM

magic...like dragons, right?
DM8575

That would be AWESOME.

Well now, thats a small leap there.. if they are real, would like to see sidey cringe at em.. I cannot find any more info on them other then the same regurgitating spiel over "news" sites. nothing saying what fabrication size they are, no pictures of the chips, no docs of any kind.. for all we know they are 110nm fabs with BGA layout, sidehacks favourite trash.

If these are real, I wonder if we could get a sample of say 10 to let ol'sidey to snap/crackle/pop/smoke/glow/plain ol' abuse.. if not, anyone else doing QNF type packaging? or MLF? or even DIP? everyone is going BGA and sidehack hates that type with a passion.

would it be a bad idea to say lock the thread? with a "thread to reopen when progress happens after Terminus pod and when chips are available"..

I guess that won't stop the barrage of people PM'ing you about it though..
11  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience is now dabbling with 16nm ASICs for new designs on: December 11, 2017, 12:20:32 AM
to really get people going, mention every time someone asking for an update as an update

"New update, Mour Demand! also, I looked at the board when I walked past it to drill more heatsinks"
12  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Who likes pod miners? on: November 14, 2017, 05:39:04 AM
I think we all are waiting for them to be seen in the wild, except ol' sidie, he's 'prolly having nightmares of drowning in BM1384s..

on the other hand, Sidie, give das lookenpeepers some pics of der blinkenlights!
you know I like the look of a dirty hacked board Wink
13  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Who likes pod miners? on: August 14, 2017, 11:38:31 PM
photobucket wants you to pay $499/year to share photos to 3rd parties/hotlink them.

Because of this, 85% of the forums/internet now have "please upgrade your account for 3rd party hosting" image.
to bad if they were images from 15 years ago, that person may not be alive to "upgrade your account"

which really help a lot when you need images to show what screw/bolt/wire you need to budge

upload the image to here, or use imgur... till they sell out like photobucket.. I don't think Sarah and Alan (both owners of imgur) will drop their baby, but money dose change minds..
14  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Who likes pod miners? on: July 12, 2017, 11:50:24 PM
You're frustrated? Try being the guy that works 70-hour weeks in a 95-degree shop (for what amounts to well under minimum wage) designing and building stuff for people who whine on the internet. Last week I got a full-time helper for manufacturing for the first time ever and I've been building miners for two years now. Only got a helper because my mom lost her job so we're helping each other out.

You want something, go make it. Can't make it? Don't complain. I got more skin in the small-miners game than anyone else in the world has had since 2014 and I'm working as hard as I can to fill that gap. I'll get it when I get it.

Yeah, common slave, make us out money machines! you're supposed to be as fast as the big boys yo! /s

i wish i could just move over your way from aus and give you a hand as well. You really have more then enough on your plate to several people something to do.
15  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Who likes pod miners? on: July 11, 2017, 02:13:57 AM
What's happening with the BF16 pods?  The BF16 stuff is the only thing I'm interested in because it'll be obsolete fast enough.  I can't see sinking money into more BM1384 stuff.  I've got a 2Pac, it works, but it doesn't break even.  Turning the speed up or buying more isn't going to make it more profitable because the power consumption will just rise too.

ima quote sidehack here..
I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume nothing's changed in the last four days.

Or, to quote myself,

No marked progress since the last update, hence no update.

Because:

Yeah, I've been eyeballs-deep in manufacturing since around February and haven't really had much time to put into new designs. Especially since the BM1384 pod took more iterations than intended to be fully functional.
16  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience is now dabbling with 16nm ASICs for new designs on: July 04, 2017, 05:46:15 AM
its all good by me, I'm happy to wait it out.

on the other hand, tease these trolls, you know you want to Wink
17  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: May 01, 2017, 01:51:16 AM

Because silver is the bare aluminum, it's cheaper to make them slightly bigger than go through a painting step.  Actually anodizing would probably be better since it's thinner.  I built this power supply about 40 years ago, it mostly ran hot until I painted the heat sinks black.  Nothing else I built 40 years ago is still running.

Anyway it's too bad there isn't a BM1387 stickminer, or something in the < 100 watt range.

I know this is out of context to the original subject..

if you did a finger test to see if the heatsink is colder to say its running cooler, you have done it wrong.

paining a heatsink puts a layer of insulation on the thermal conductive material. you are not "Black bodying" the heatsink. the hotter the heatsink, the better it is conduction the heat away from the source.

you need convection of the heat to the air, not radiate it, its not in vacuum.

now if you google black body radiator, there is plenty of people talking about black painting heatsinks for radiating heat..

18  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Modifying a USB hub for extra power and "I did it!" showoff thread on: April 13, 2017, 06:03:44 AM

HEY!! I have these hubs I find they don't like to support the Compac 2 chip, any tips?

I am thinking of just getting a usb extentsion cord, ripping it open and cutting into the power wires though.

you can use the extension splice technique, or you can pop em open them up and add heavier gauge wire across the positive and negative tracks to support the extra load.

what I did with mine is have the wires come out and attach the 5V wires off a HDD Molex connector to them. it wasn't a clean setup, but doable.
19  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Modifying a USB hub for extra power and "I did it!" showoff thread on: April 11, 2017, 01:31:42 AM
Nice bit of work there!
You're making me want to fire up the old avalon and compacs again.. I attempted to use 30cm cabling to reorganise the compacs onto a singe large heatsink, and I gave up when they all stopped talking to the system (I blame the cheap cables, they are cheap)
20  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Who likes pod miners? on: March 28, 2017, 05:58:17 PM
Please Do this with 16nm Chips!  Grin

keep spamming sidie on it, make him get the chips faster off the company that is just ignoring him!
