181  Economy / Economics / Re: Eu gas and electricity prices drop 80% to 2021 level, another apocalypse averted on: October 25, 2022, 02:34:59 PM
Surprising that the OP claims that prices are down to 2021 levels. This article says otherwise:

https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/german-jan-aug-gas-import-costs-surge-189-despite-26-drop-imports-2022-10-17/

For the first eight months of 2022, Germany has spent €49.5 billion to import natural gas (both pipeline and LNG). During the same period in 2021, the import bill amounted to €17.1 billion. That is additional €32.4 billion spent, or roughly €4 billion per month. And one thing to note here is that in terms of volume, Germany imported much less gas when compared to 2021.
182  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo vs Golovkin 3 - September 17 on: September 18, 2022, 04:25:45 AM
I am watching the fight, as well as following Sporting News and CBS Sports for unofficial scorecards. The score so far is:

CBS Sports: 99-91 Canelo (Canelo won 9 out of 10 rounds)
Sporting News: 96-94 Canelo (Canelo won 6 out of 10 rounds).

https://www.cbssports.com/boxing/news/canelo-alvarez-vs-gennadiy-golovkin-3-fight-results-live-boxing-updates-scorecard-start-time-undercard/live/
https://www.sportingnews.com/us/boxing/news/canelo-alvarez-vs-gennadiy-golovkin-3-live-fight-updates-results-highlights/sdec6pobpwornrm7mxahujsl

Golovkin making strong comeback from rounds 6-7, but it looks as if that is not enough. Canelo is the clear winner of this fight, by a good distance.
183  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo vs Golovkin 3 - September 17 on: September 18, 2022, 04:04:11 AM
Very one sided fight so far. Canelo simply dominating and Golovkin showing the negative impacts of ageing.

https://www.cbssports.com/boxing/news/canelo-alvarez-vs-gennadiy-golovkin-3-fight-results-live-boxing-updates-scorecard-start-time-undercard/live/

As per CBS Sports, Canelo ahead by 50-45. First five rounds go to Canelo.

Relying on one person in Test cricket is nothing but foolish. Because Test cricket is not a game of so much shot time like T20 cricket. Since Test cricket is a five-day game, patience is very important in this game Why you say England's batting line-up depends on Joe Root. But that's not the case, England's batsmen have many better quality batsmen than Joe Root. Maybe they could not show the desired performance on the field. But it is expected that they will turn around again in the next matches.

I agree that relying on a single player can be problematic. But a lot of teams do this. Even India was overdependent on Virat Kohli until a few years ago (for overseas tours especially). Australia used to rely on Steve Smith. And we have already discussed about the reliance that England has on Joe Root. Smaller boards are no better. Bangladesh is dependent on Shakib al Hasan to a great degree. Pakistan has also some reliance on Babar Azam, although the younger players are now playing a bigger role recently.
185  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: August 21, 2022, 02:51:34 AM
Agreed, Ireland have played almost every match in home ground. This had helped them play better than playing away from the home. Ireland have given tough play against the top teams. Slowly it needs to gain good position playing away from the country. Soon after T20 World Cup we can see more matches to be scheduled for Ireland with top teams.

When they had players such as Kevin O'Brien, William Porterfield and Boyd Rankin, they used to perform better in sub-continental conditions. Because these players had a lot of experience. But now they are all retired and the Irish are in the process of rebuilding their team with younger players. Tucker and Tector have emerged as exciting prospects in middle order batting. But in sub-continent, spin plays a major role. And as of now, Ireland don't have any quality spinners. Simi Singh, Andy McBrine and Gareth Delany have so far fared poorly.

According to that graph, the Strategic Petroleum Reserves of USA are at the levels of 1986!
So the scenario you explained may be indeed possible depending on how fast the government wants to replenish their SPR and whether they plan to do it with foreign or national production.

This seems to be quite a political move looking foward to November rather than part of a long term plan to relieve common citizens from high energy prices...

From what I heard, the reserves are down to 400 million barrels. By the time of mid-term elections, their reserves will be almost empty. But then they need to refill these reserves at some point. That is going to be problematic. Because by then the purchase price will be much higher than the price at which they are selling now. And the ground situation hasn't changed much within the United States. Democrats are still trailing the GOP in many of the key races, and hypothetical polls show Biden trailing Trump by 3-4 points.

There is  no doubt Pakistan has found a gem in the form of Babar Azam and he has lots of contributions in Pakistan wins. So far Agha was the only one who played Srilanka bowlers well and scored 62 runs rest of the batting just failed in front of Srilanka spin.

Agha Salman played really well for his 62, but he got out when he was needed the most. Overall a disappointing day for Pakistan, as they lost 7 of their wickets for less than 200 runs. They need another 188 runs to take the lead. Apart from Abdullah Shafique (who got out for a duck), almost all the other Pakistani batsmen got good starts. But they got out in their 20s. Only Agha showed some fighting spirit and stayed at the crease. Now it us up to Yasir Shah and the tailenders. Hopefully they will be able to keep the Sri Lankan lead to two digits.

First when I check scorecard I was in shock what the hell is going here because Australia completely destroy by a debutant bowler and no one able to resist even they play good against Pakistani spinners but still this is big achievement from them and now today I was reading if you believe in magic then surely something happen like this because star batsman and former captain Chandimal is famous for this trick, and he has done again for his team.

Nathan Lyon was surely big disappointment for visitors even he was hero in first test match and having man of the match so this only happen in cricket in one match you are hero and in second you are going to be play as vilan.

This was not expected from Australia. I remember the case when players like Steve Waugh and Adam Gilchrist was in the Australia squad. They used to completely dominate matches being held in the sub-continent. Spinners had a tough time bowling against them. But now the situation has completely reversed. Hardly anyone in the Australian squad is capable of playing against spin. Even batsmen with a lot of experience, such as David Warner and Steven Smith failed against inexperienced spinners during the second innings.

I have been watching Ireland in last few matches, and they are giving tough challenge to teams like India and New Zealand which is amazing fighting spirit from them because this is key for their bright future in today match again they have done amazing job even target for not good enough, but they still fight till end and Bracewell again man of the match for New Zealand as he finishes another tough challenger match and give Ireland think about their fielding which is having big impact in this match for their lost.

Here we also have to talk about New Zealand which is badly going down and having not enough time for settling problems with in team because this can give them more poor results in coming matches and specially in T20 World Cup.

Ireland is handicapped by the fact that some of the most promising players have moved to England, to play county cricket. And this is not just the issue faced by Ireland, but also by Netherlands and Scotland. Their best players move to England, leaving these teams to field a second string side while playing against tough opponents. In the end, their performance goes down and this argument is further used to deny chances to them. Imagine how good Ireland would have performed, had Eoin Morgan, Ed Joyce and Boyd Rankin played for them during their peak years.

Waited for ages to get this trilogy fight. But now I am not that excited. Canelo agreed to this fight only after knowing that Golovkin's prime days are over. The trilogy fight is occurring 4 years after Canelo vs Golovkin 2. Ideally Canelo should have agreed to the fight in 2019, or the latest by 2020. Now Golovkin is already 40 years old and his prime days may be over. As the odds predict, I am not expecting much from the Kazakh legend now. He maybe able to put a tough fight and may last the full 12 rounds, and that is all.

If PCB (not a rich board) can help Afghanistan then for BCCI helping Nepal or other bordering country is just a matter of giving some peanuts. I still can't believe Nepal is not in international cricket despite being in a cricket centric region. Nepal must have a strong test team by now.

Nepal is one of those unfortunate countries. They never get any real support from the ICC, and so far the BCCI has also refused to help them. And due to the fact that they are entirely dependent on native players, their performance has suffered in the recent times. With the poor training facilities and cricket infrastructure that is available in Nepal, the players just can't compete against teams such as Oman and the UAE, which are made up of former first class players from test nations such as India and Sri Lanka.
192  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: April 17, 2022, 02:05:57 PM
The bowling correction is very common with all levels of bowlers from all countries. There is nothing as the bowlers from specific countries weren't reported. Even before entering the international cricket career players were corrected for the bowling action. The latest bowler from India to have bowling correction after suspect action is Natarajan.
Natarajan corrected his action to save career

Natarajan's case is one of the few success stories of bowlers who made a comeback, despite being reported for suspect action. He was reported immediately after his first Ranji Trophy match and spent the next one and half years correcting his action. And despite all that, he performed exceptionally well in the TNPL and finally got in to the IPL. And from there, it was a dream journey. He made the T20I, ODI and Test match debut for India during the same tour. In the end, India got another quality left arm pacer after Zaheer and Pathan.

A defeat today will make matters even worse for South Africa. This is their 13th match in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League, and so far they have won just 4 of their matches (two of the matches ended as no-result). If things don't improve for South Africa, then they will end up playing the qualifying tournament in order to qualify for the 2023 ODI World Cup.
194  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: February 05, 2022, 10:47:18 AM
We all think most of the matches in IPL are completely fixed. And a lot of the time looking at the performance of the teams, it seems that the matches were actually fixed. Many times we consider it as a miracle. But no one has any proof that fixing is done in IPL. The ICC has investigated the matter several times in the past but found no evidence. So we should not slander IPL or IPL management without proof.

There is no accountability and that is the reason why these sort of incidents repeat in the IPL. Two of the franchises were caught red handed for match fixing, and rather than terminating them the BCCI just handed them a two-year suspension. This lax attitude actually encourages more criminal activity within the IPL. On top of that the Chennai SuperKings and the Hyderabad SunRisers are still owned by individuals with proven links to match fixing. The BCCI simply doesn't have the courage to take action against them.

Rahane could not play well. The team always expects more from a player like him. However, Kohli was replaced by Hanuman Bihari. His performance was not as expected. But they will probably bat more responsibly in the second innings

Hanuma Vihari, not Hanuman Bihari.

A lot of controversy still surrounds the omission of Kohli. During the first test at Centurion, he had scores of 35 and 18. The official version (as given by KL Rahul before the toss) is that Kohli had to sit out due to an upper back spasm. I am a bit doubtful about this entire episode and strongly suspect that he just refused to play, given his recent stormy relations with the BCCI officials. In the end, India struggled to take their total to 200 plus and was able to do so only due to some good hits from Ashwin towards the end.

Bangladesh team has been struggling and when you are playing with a team like Pakistan which has performed exceptionally well in the world cup and is in high morale then you will struggle a lot. Pakistan will not have any problem in winning this match too. Unless someone from the Bangladesh side performs way beyond their existing performance, which I doubt.

Bangladesh has remained where they were two decades ago, when they received the test status. There is absolutely no improvement, despite the massive population and popularity of cricket in the country (Pakistan also have similar population, but they have performed exceptionally in the last few years). One reason is that Bangladesh is overdependent on a few star players. If you take out these players, they will be at the risk of losing to associate nations. All the money being pumped in by the ICC over the years in to Bangladesh cricket has been wasted.

Very decent effort from Namibia against a strong Indian bowling lineup. They managed a total of 132/8, although none of the batsmen made a 30 plus score. Shami and Chahar gave away 69 runs in their 8 overs, but the remaining bowlers were very economical. BTW, I heard that the Pakistani players visited the Namibian dressing room after the match between them and offered support. This is a great gesture, and very significant at a time when the pig-4 teams do their best to deny smaller teams what they deserve.

Sorry.. I am a little bit late. Received the payment many days back in my BTC wallet. I express my gratitude for Royse, for organizing and maintaining this pool. It is tough work, and hardly anyone appreciates the effort and time he put in. Although the number of participants was lower than what we had last time, there was no dearth of excitement. I hope to rejoin the pool in a few months, when IPL 2022 begins.

@Sithara007 Hardik was in the playing 11 for sentimental reasons, because they wanted to give him match fitness for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Also besides Hardik collectively MI has failed, and at the end of the season they should introspect why they played so badly and fix the issues before next season starts.

This is another mystery. Why is this hard dick even in the Indian team for T20 world cup? There are so many promising youngsters who are fighting for a chance and the selectors went for a guy who is not 100% fit. To be honest, the selection of squad for the T20 World Cup disappointed me. They went for oldies like Ravichandran Ashwin and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, but ignored promising players like Shreyas Iyer and Devdutt Padickal. But the worst choice had to be that of Hardik Pandya. How did this guy managed to get in?
