621  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why altcoins are rampant in the market on: July 13, 2021, 03:45:34 PM
The real reason for the existence of tens of thousands of different altcoins is that it takes just $20 or $30 in investment to create a new coin. If you have a good idea and you know how to advertise, then you don't need any funds from your end. You can just start an ICO, and as long as the soft-cap is kept at reasonable levels, you will be able to attract funds. Now there is no guarantee that the promoters will continue with the development or not. Because they are not investing any of their money in to the project.

The issue of Shakib's ban surprised me. Because I have seen all the news related to this. After the BCB's conflict with Shakib, the BCB president informed the media about Shakib's crime. It is easy to guess from this that BCB knew about this matter. Then if BCB wants, they may reduce Sakib Al Hasan's punishment. But I did not see any interest of the BCB president in reducing Shakib's punishment.

Shakib was banned because there was a delay in his part in reporting an approach from one bookie during the IPL. Now I don't understand the point in punishing solely him for this incident. He was representing an IPL franchise that was accused in match fixing. And the chances that the bookie could gain access to him without the knowledge of the franchise is minimal. In the end, Shakib got the blame for the fault of his franchise. The ban was decided by ICC, but the BCB offered him no support.

I was completely surprised to see Pakistan batting. I knew all the batsmen in Pakistan were talented, their only problem was that they could not maintain the continuity of performance. Pakistan scored 284 runs in 45 overs, losing just two wickets. Baba Azam was unbeaten on 139 and Mohammad Rizwan scored 73 off 55 balls. My guess is that Pakistan will be able to collect 325-330 runs.

Excellent batting from Pakistan. I didn't expected this fightback from them, after the poor performance in previous matches. Babar Azam was outstanding and he is about to get his 150. England bowlers suddenly look clueless, after their good performance earlier. Matt Parkinson has so far went for almost 8 runs per over. Even Craig Overton and Lewis Gregory went for more than 6 runs per over. As of now, it looks like Pakistan will end up somewhere around 350, which is going to be a daunting target for England.
624  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: July 13, 2021, 03:02:24 PM
Looking at the performance of the West Indies in the current T20 format, it seems that they are back to their old form. If they can maintain such a great performance till the World Cup, they will also fight hard to win the World Cup title. In the last match against Australia, they scored 142 runs in just 14.5 overs. It is not an easy task to score 142 runs in just 14.5 overs against a strong bowling lineup like Australia.

Have to disagree. Australian bowling is quite ordinary nowadays. Two decades ago, they had the best pace attack in the world, with Glen McGrath, Brett Lee and Jason Gillespie destroying the opposition with seam movement and bounce. And they had the best spinner as well (Shane Warne). But the current bunch can't be compared to them. Mitchell Starc is too wayward and Josh Hazlewood lacks venom. At least when compared to the Kiwi pace attack (Jamieson/Boult/Southee/Ferguson/Milne/Wagner), Australians now look second class.
625  Economy / Economics / Re: Vietnam Becomes Latest Country to Turn to Crypto on: July 12, 2021, 08:10:45 PM
That is very bad news for decentralized crypto currency enthusiasts. A communist government launching their own crypto project will surely go totally against bitcoin. However I can't say it was a surprise because it was probably inspired by communist government of China, which is more advanced on this field, as recently news stated, and probably will help its communists partners.
It's a good moment for bitcoin adopters in Vietnam become alert and follow news about it closely in order to keep their funds protected and act before the government tries something against them.

Do you think that there is a chance that the government will try to seize the funds? I don't think that is a possibility, at least not in the near term. But dictatorships don't value personal liberty. So in case the Vietnamese government bans the possession of Bitcoin (which they haven't done so far), then it may be better for the users to stay under the radar for a while. In case they need to urgently cash out their coins, then they can travel to some of the neighboring countries to do that. Overall impact on the market will be limited, because of the small size of the Vietnamese market.
626  Economy / Economics / Re: Risk of Inflation in Economy. on: July 12, 2021, 07:52:36 PM
right, with the increase in oil prices, of course, the transportation sector will be the most affected, while everything related to the distribution of goods uses transportation, so this will trigger an increase in all prices. unless, for example, electrical energy that has been developed can replace it, so that it can replace the role of oil

Any increase in the crude oil prices will have far reaching impact, because it is being used in almost all the sectors - transportation, power generation, industries, heating (natural gas prices are also linked to crude oil prices), chemicals and plastic manufacturing, asphalt.etc. And if we check the prices for the last 12 months, it can be seen that the rate of brent crude has gone up from $40 per barrel to $75 per barrel. The prices have almost doubled. And from the historical perspective, the increase in crude oil prices is being regarded as one of the early signals of worsening inflation.
627  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: July 12, 2021, 07:40:20 PM
Ouep but he deserved to be the best player of the tournament because he is Wink
When they said his name, he wasn't expecting it and his teammate informed him they said your name.
Now after the end of the EURO and Copa America, I feel emptiness. There is few CL qualifications games coming, otherwise waiting for the next month for the restart of major leagues...

Football is not my favorite sport, but I can understand your feelings. I never watch club football. The only instances when I watch football is when the national teams play in competitions such as World Cup, World Cup Qualifiers, Copa America and Euro Cup. And the beauty with these competitions is that they occur only once in 4 years or so. Unlike the case with club football, there will be major changes in the team composition and fortunes from one edition to the other. Also, I find it hard to support clubs based in foreign cities such as Manchester and Madrid. Supporting other countries is not that hard.
628  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: July 12, 2021, 05:22:28 PM
There is no one in the the Bangladesh line up that could replace Shakib Al Hasan because he is a world class player that will fit in any team and he is best that Bangladesh ever produced and to replace him is a huge task. Yes he made money and even if he retires now he will be well off with playing franchise cricket until he is performing at the top but the fans might turn against him as Bangladesh have die hard fans.

Why should the fans turn against him? There is no doubt that the BCB has unfairly targeted their best player. Due to ego issues, the BCB bosses have targeted Shakib whenever they got a chance to do that. They have withheld his NOC, and have taken disciplinary actions without any basis. If he wanted, then he could have shifted to another country, and earned a lot more money. Anyway, his hot headed nature is not helping this either. Recently he created a lot of controversy during one of the Dhaka Premier Division Twenty20 matches.
629  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What happen if US ban cryptocurrencies? on: July 12, 2021, 05:07:33 PM
Yep, President Biden did not ban Bitcoin infact the US is still a free country to access Cryptocurrencies. I also think that Bitcoin will never ban because US is advance in technology and will not let the competitors sit in the top as the king.

The Biden administration hasn't banned cryptocurrencies yet, not because US is a free country, but because such a ban is almost impossible to implement. It is practically impossible to prohibit an asset which doesn't exist in the physical form. The only way to do that is to shut down the internet. However, the regime can make the lives of cryptocurrency users difficult, by making it impossible to convert cryptocurrencies to fiat (and vice versa). Already important members of the Biden administration, such as Elizabeth Warren and Janet Yellen have given indications that they are considering such measures.
630  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is this a bad time for altcoins? on: July 12, 2021, 03:27:45 PM
If I am holding large quantities of alts, then at this point I would get rid of most of them. Because after the crazy alt rally we had in the last 6-7 months, many of these coins are looking like inflated balloons. Look at coins such as Dogecoin. It has gone up by more than 100x in the last 12 months. Anyone in their right state of mind would go for profit booking at this point. But then there will be a number of ultra-greedy folks who would hold on to all their coins, hoping for even greater profit. That strategy may work with BTC, but not with shitcoins such as Doge.
631  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: July 12, 2021, 03:14:25 PM
When Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhtar were there, Pakistan's bowling lineup was one of the best in the world. Moreover, even when Afridi and Hafeez were in the team, Pakistan performed well enough. They still have a lot of talented players in their team. Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman are talented enough. But they are failing to perform regularly.

Babar Azam in the top order is somewhat consistent, but the same can't be said about the other players such as Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq. Babar Azam played county cricket last year, and that seems to have helped him. The other Pakistani players can also consider this option. Playing county cricket will give them valuable experience and it will get them acclimatized to the SENA conditions. Because I am regularly noticing some of the Pakistani batsmen having issues in surfaces that support seam movement.
632  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What if Elon musk launches his own coin? on: July 12, 2021, 03:01:45 PM
There are tens of thousands of altcoin projects in existence now.. so what is the issue if Elon comes up with his own coin? I guess if he has his own project, then he will stop bitching about the Bitcoin electricity usage. A lot of the celebrities have come up their own cryptocurrency projects in the past. A few examples are rapper The Game and 50 cent. But none of them actually crashed the Bitcoin market before launching their project. Anyway, best of luck with Elon. If his projects flops, then hopefully he'll bid farewell to the cryptocurrency sector.
633  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will Cardano overthrow Ethereum? on: July 12, 2021, 02:35:26 PM
Cardano developers have worked really hard in the recent times to make this project acceptable for everyone. I still remember the situation we had in 2017/18, when I faced a lot of difficulty in investing in this coin. Back then, lite-wallet or online wallet was not available for Cardano, and we had to install the full node wallet (Daedalus) in our laptop if we want to store Cardano. It was very inconvenient and a lot of people decided against Cardano due to this. But the developers worked hard to resolve these issues and now a number of lite wallets are available (AdaLite, Yoroi.etc).
634  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk made tweet about animal coin again. Time to buy doge and Shiba Inu? on: July 12, 2021, 02:23:11 PM
I can only sympathize with those who rush to purchase certain cryptocurrencies because Elon Musk has tweeted about them. Satoshi always maintained that one of his primary reasons to come out with Bitcoin was to provide financial freedom for the ordinary people. If you are falling in to the trap set by billionaires such as Elon, then I have to say that you are moving in exactly the opposite direction. And one more thing. Those who have gone for short term gains have always lost money in the cryptocurrency market. Doge may give you temporary gains, but that is not going to last.
635  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will El Salvador become the "Home of Bitcoin"? on: July 12, 2021, 02:11:14 PM
-   77% of the population do not consider it to be good decision to make bitcoin a legal tender there.
-   64% are not willing to receive their salary in bitcoins.
-   Nearly half of them do not know anything about bitcoin. 48,2% declare knowing bitcoin somewhat, and 4,9% state they know a lot about it.
-   75% have got a smartphone to connect to the internet, but 23,5% have no means to connect.
-   67,14% of the respondents that were also merchants, declare that they are not willing to receive payments in bitcoin.
-   60,7% are not in possession of a bank account, and 67,5% do not have a bank card (credit/debit).
-   95% believe that the dollar gives them financial stability (vs 1% that believe bitcoin will).
-   Only 2,5% of the respondents have experience performing crypto TXs previously.
-   40% consider the Bitcoin Law favours large companies/businessmen.
-   25,6% believe bitcoin will improve the economy, but 43,6% believe it will make it worse.
-   The more the age, the less people know about bitcoin, and the less positive they are about it.

Not surprised by the results. Here in India, if you take out a similar survey, then you will get almost identical results. The mainstream media here always paid cryptocurrency in a bad light, always linking it with criminals and drug trade. The younger generation (especially those in their 20s and 30s) is more receptive, since they are no longer dependent on the mainstream media to get the information. But the issue is that the decision makers (politicians, bureaucrats.etc) are almost entirely from the older age groups.
636  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: July 12, 2021, 01:59:06 PM
Oh no, i was not implying that they're not as strong as other teams. In fact they are pretty good team and very competitive. Don't know about qualifier thingy but they were finalist in the last 50 over WC so that's count, right? Its just that their batting collapse sometime, which looks bad. I think they are going to do well if BCCI start WIPL.

Stop dreaming about the WIPL. Do you really think that a cash-minded administrative body such as the BCCI would approve the WIPL? The ECB and CA started their own leagues ages ago, and their budgets are like a small fraction of what the BCCI has. I think someone need to start a rebel league for the women, similar to the ICL started by Subhash Chandra in 2007. The BCCI approved IPL only due to the potential competition from ICL. Previously they had rejected suggestions to start a franchise T20 league.
637  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-07-08] Elizabeth Warren demands answers from the SEC on crypto regulation on: July 12, 2021, 01:45:31 PM
Warren:  "people are too stupid to be able to figure out risks for themselves and yet are smart enough to vote in people like me who know nothing about it to regulate everyone else."

Putting a dishonest, divisive, pandering, anti-individual politician in charge of anything, let alone crypto, is idiotic.

She was elected from the state of Massachusetts, where the voters don't care much about characteristics such as honesty and skill. Massachusetts is so deep-blue that even Kim Jong Un or Joseph Stalin would get elected to the senate if they fight the elections there. And Warren is a classic old style socialist. She believes that the regime needs to control each and every aspect of the personal life. The government will decide how much salary you get, and which are the assets you are allowed to invest. And going by the trends, I won't be surprised if the US elects either Warren or Kamala as the POTUS in 2024.
638  Economy / Economics / Re: Poor and middle class as a mentality on: July 11, 2021, 06:17:29 PM
I couldn't agree more with the statement that Don't give cash assistance to poor people because it only adds to poverty in their brains, but provide them with livelihood assistance and ways to make money to support their lives.  Because between giving fish or fishing rods to poor fishermen will be very much different but there are many mistakes that occur in the government, they only focus on providing cash assistance to the community just to cover up the bad government behind the assistance such as corruption in their institutional.

Nowadays I am seeing governments around the world trying this approach, by distributing welfare payments. In the US, Biden government has proposed giving out financial assistance based on the number of children in the family. So in case a family produce 10-12 children, then they will receive a payment of around $3,000 per month from the government. I find these sort of measures very short sighted. In the long term, people will just sit at home and produce children without doing any productive activity. And those who work hard will find a large majority of their salaries taken away in the form of taxes.
639  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: July 11, 2021, 05:03:38 PM
Bangladesh won the match by 220 runs. A memorable overseas win for Bangladesh, but for Zimbabwe just a practice match. Is not it? It was not a great performance by Zimbabwe, since they only played a few matches, we can't expect great and excellent performances from them. It would be great if both of them played regular tests against top teams.

I don't agree. Bangladesh is already playing tests against top teams regularly, since they are placed in the top division of test cricket. Zimbabwe on the other hand has performed pathetically, despite playing a total of 111 test matches so far. The other countries (such as Ireland, Netherlands and Afghanistan) also deserve the chances that Zimbabwe is getting right now. Opportunities and funding should be directly related to performance. As of now, Afghanistan is performing much better than Zimbabwe, and still the former is receiving only around 1/4th of the funding when compared to the latter.

It is sad but this is the way it is, it was impossible to expect that this vaccine was going to be developed for 5 years before it was released to the population, this is why if some people oppose to get the vaccine I do not criticize them as the risks are real, this is why we hear stories of people dropping dead a few minutes after they got the vaccine as the vaccine has a higher risk than usual, but that being said as soon as I get the opportunity to get the vaccine I will get it.

If you believe in such stupidity, then you deserve whatever you get. Anyway, vaccines are in short supply and no one will force you to take them. If you refuse to take them, then more deserving people will get a chance to be vaccinated. I wonder from where did you got the stories of "people dropping dead in a few minutes"... please post the url here, as I want to go through the article. 3.39 billion doses of the vaccine has been administrated till now. If what you were saying was even remotely true, then the world population would have reduced by half till now.
