BTCP (Bitcoin Private) Currently Rank #45 announced to fight the new Bitmain Equihash Miner!

https://twitter.com/bitcoinprivate/status/993509511364317190

Another good news, congratulations BTCP team

Eventually, there will be no algo to fork too I would think. There will be asics in all algos lol
If E3 drops in price, GPU is fried too. Bitmain controls u lol.

It definitely wont be quiet. The setup of these things were never meant to be quiet. Try undsrclock and antminer such that the fan spins only 2400rpm and u will realize that even that is noisy.

Perhaps for a miner that consumes 1kW or more, but for a miner that consumes ~300W there isn't a need for huge quantities of air, unless the design is really bad. The miner looks like the usual Bitmain tube, and yes, I know that the pictures could be fake, but, Bitmain has a design pattern that they follow to keep things simple and allow for easy production at scale. I'm not saying for sure that they won't be loud, I'm just saying the probability is low. If the fan on my 450W modded S7-LN is quiet, then the same fan on a 300W miner won't be loud.

The design even at low 2400 rpm is noisy actually. Ants can go to 6120 rpm. U can try though. If u mod to lower fans, u risk frying your board only. I believe thats why u cant choose fanspeed for S9. U should just do yourself a favor and create a noisy place to put them. Furthermore, GPUs have 2 fans for about 132-130watts. Thus, is only so noisy. Antminers have 2 fans for 2-12 times the watts. If u ever use the amd gpu design with just 1 fan, not the aftermarket model, u will realize that one is quite noisy too. Furthermore, a few ants together will amplify the sound output.

This is great news. I go test it out too. Hope there can be one for the S9.

Edit
Will make a donation after some testing. Thanks

If you use antpool, now you must use ERC20 token address(Not bytom main net address).

What do you mean by that?

There's currently two kinds of Bytom.  There's the old ERC20 token, and there is the main net Bytom which only came out like a week ago.  Everything will eventually get moved to the main net, but right now all the exchanges that list Bytom still use the ERC20 token, so if you want to exchange any you need to mine with Antpool until some exchanges switch over to the main net.

So, basically, we just use MEW for now

Does anyone have it now? With an approximate price of about $ 2,000 USD, shipping costs from China and $ 120 USD daily earnings and electricity usage costs, are they worth it?

Honestly? Nobody really knows yet, but most of us who have purchased are clearly betting on "yes".

Depends on how high the network hashrate goes and wat price btm is.

Did anyone success in reducing FAN speed?
I tried to edit bmminer.conf directry.
However it didn't make sense.

Why do that and risk things go wrong?

Anyone know if withdrawal from antpool works to the cryptopia bytem wallet address?

In general exchanges do not encourage mining rewards to be paid to them.

I was wrong about Batch 2 being shipped and I'm assuming others jumped to conclusions like I did.. The email we're all getting is a Batch 1 resend with the new price AFTER refund. They resent the invoice. Can anyone confirm that Batch 2 has been shipped?

I received my B1 about 30 mins ago, no shipping confirmation for my B2 yet.

Can u type out batch 1 instead of renaming the miner lol

Oh I see. Cmon, it should be 11th May onwards. The first batch guys did pay more. It is already bad enough we got a 2nd batch appear so fast lol.

Batch 2 have already started shipping :-D

Are u sure? Isnt it supposed to be 11th May onwards?

100% sure about that, new miner coming soon. Received a note from a wechat Chinese reseller with 5000 pieces for each S9i 13th, 13.5th and 14th, total 15000 units for grab.

U sure about this? Do they do this in the past before a miner comes out? I hope it isnt true
189  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Launches the New Antminer B3 Miner on: May 07, 2018, 02:23:43 PM
Hmm not so good at the moment. I mined for 5 hours so far and roughly estimate 150 bytom per day now. It is going down fast.
190  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Launches the New Antminer B3 Miner on: May 07, 2018, 10:33:42 AM
Need help !!!

If i switch on miner and mine bytom with antpool and i indicate my hitbtc bytom adress. Will it provide payment to my hitbtc account? Thanks a lot.

Dude, better not to use any exchange address for mining. Best to just use mew address.

Thanks for response. I never used this wallet, and can i transfer the savings in exchange later without any problems or additional fees? Thanks

Myetherwallet aka MEW is a popular wallet. It holds alot of erc20 tokens such as bytom. U can decide your fees in mew. U need some eth to be used as fees though.
191  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Launches the New Antminer B3 Miner on: May 07, 2018, 10:10:48 AM
My B3 came and works fine so far Smiley
It is as loud as an S9 or D3 despite using lesser electricity. It has 6 boards with 2 chips on each board and it is auto-tune. U cant lower fans, so make sure u set up a place that can take some noise. This isnt gpu quiet despite using low electricity. I am not sure wat speed the fans spin at because sit just shows zero.

Maybe you can buy and install Enermax D.F. Storm fans to provide enough cooling (3500rpm, 155CFM), but with a low noise level.

I have space to put all my noisy stuffs Smiley

I am just providing info for those wanting to put it in their bedroom. It isnt possible lol or maybe with a super thick soundproof box. U dont wanna buy this and realize u cant run it due to noise issues especially since plugging it in asap is crucial.
This thing uses as much power as only 3 GPUs but is noisy.

I would prefer to have the strongest fans to make sure it is as cool as can be. Safer that way.

I juz bought some bytom in huobipro to test withdraw to mew. It isnt instant and took about 5 mins before withdrawal is approved. Huobi pro fee is 2btm, min is 42btm.
Cryptopia should have instant withdrawal (though I havent tried for bytom) but they have a 14btm fee Sad

ANTPOOL SHOWS BALANCE NOW ON THE DASHBOARD!!!!!

Yep, here too.  I guess that 18 hours of mining wasn't wasted after all.  I have 330 BTM total earnings!

I think those few were lucky. Some of us havent gotfen the first batch yet. Mine is near now.
Furthermore, we are talking a risk here without even a calculator. Had it gone back like the D3? How? I hope tgat doesnt occur later. The D3 went downhill fast. It was good at first. 70% of bytom is already in circulation is kinda sad...

How is it possible that 70% is already in circulation as the mainnet launched 1/1,5 week ago?

I think it is pre-mine. I dont think they will dump all the pre-mine on us since bytom has agreement in bitmain. Wat i worry is that it is now on sale again which is abit fast? I think it was out of stock yesterday? Anyone know wats the amount sold? The coin just fell from a dollar to 75 cents now. Also, hope bitmain promotes the coin more. I dont see enough people willing to trade it. It needs more liquidity, more buyers. Besides that, all seems ok.  Hopefully this gamble works out for all of us.
194  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: May 07, 2018, 06:19:29 AM
It is cheaper now. I guess this means competitor cant compete anymore. I saw this coming lol.

If ASICs "won" ETH, explain to me why I still mine ETH with GPUs and do not plan exchanging them with E3s?

Because bitmain has mercifully (and to maximise profit), decided to sell their E3 at 2100usd instead of 800 usd. That and the E3 batches have not shipped yet in July. Make a guess wat would happen if E3 gets sold en masse? Eth difficulty goes through the roof. GPU miners move from eth to all other non-asic coins. GPU becomes unprofitable.

The worst case theory is that asics take over ALL ALGOS. Does anyone know how many algos there are?

Because alot of asics come out these days, is about 1 new asic a month at the moment. And yes those asics were made earlier. Still, 1 algo ever 1.5-2months is pretty fast. Eventually all algos will have asics. GPU holders would feel "forked up" Roll Eyes lol

Selling your GPU now might be the best decision of your crypto mining life buddy, especially if selling means u ROI.
U gotta sell when things shift. The biggest winners are those who sold their S9s in the December craze for like 5k USD on ebay LOL.

Most importantly, since ethereum is about 64% of all mining, if E3 price drops drastically or ETH goes POS, it is over for GPU mining definitely.

P.S> We CAN agree to disagree if u disagree with me. I dont want a long argument though.

If You do Your investments based on hypothetical situations out of economical sense, continue doing so. Not me. I witnessed and participated in number of shifts in crypto mining and from experience I can tell You that easiest way of making wrong investment is ASICs purchase. As You just said - like those "shifting" to S9 in December...

Is not hypothetical. It is economix sense. Gpu mining is losing market share to asics and will continue to do so.
It is dead obvious that gpu mining is at the mercy of the antminer E3.

Zec and btcgold used to belong to gpu.
Asics owns zec now. Btcgold will belong to gpu upon fork...for now only

These asic manufacturers are too good at coming up with new asics. It is a matter if time before they take over more algos and a bigger share of eth algo. There will be little left for gpu to mine.....and low low profits

Major coins sia eth decred zec got taken down this year so far. Lets see who comes next.

Furthermore, big asic manufacturers are super rich from last years boom. I wont be surprised if they go for more share.
198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: who bought bitmain Z9 will face a big issues now on: May 06, 2018, 07:33:13 AM

GPU will not survive going forward especially since asics keep winning more and more market share from GPU. They have already won the biggest algo, that is ethereum. That alone means GPU is the past. U should consider selling your GPUs.

199  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining , still worth it? on: May 06, 2018, 06:55:45 AM
Doesnt make sense to mine certain mainstream coins. Niche new coins may be worth it.

If u had just bought btc at 5k to 6k plus 2 months back, at current prices 9k+ , u would have gotten more than 50% profit easily.
If u had bought bitcoin machines to mine instead, u would have gotten about 14-18% return, basis a 11-15 month breakeven.

If u had bought btc instead, u have more than 150%, in which u can easily use 100% to buy machines and have 50% change lol.
Thats far higher than the 14-18% the miners got. And the miners u just bought have 2 months more warranty.
In general, the returns for the last 1 year plus have been such that it is just better to hold btc over machines and I believe that trend will continue. Difficulty just rises too much and there is an overwhelming and senseless interest in mining. Too much money going after too little profits really.

Future Scenarios:
If bitcoin price drops by 50-60%, all miners become toasters and u cant sell them. Bitcoin holders can still sell.
If bitcoin price drops 90%, holders can still sell for 10% of value. Miners get nothing for doorstops.
If bitcoin price goes up, well bitcoin holders make more than mining. Thats been the case and so far, should continue to be the case. Problem is just that difficulty rising alot and most miners dont do a comparison between holding and mining bitcoin.

And yes, now, mining looks more attractive now due to a recent price spike but the new machines will come and breakeven will go back to 11-15months again, which makes it not worth it.

It is only good to buy a machine like the antminer A3 which managed to break even in first 2months. Niche machines with high risk. If forks dont occur, u are good. Long term breakeven machine arent worth it these days.
200  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: who bought bitmain Z9 will face a big issues now on: May 06, 2018, 06:33:19 AM
It wont be that big an issue since there are other coins like ZEC. The question is how high will difficulty rise.

GPU will not survive going forward especially since asics keep winning more and more market share from GPU. They have already won the biggest algo, that is ethereum. That alone means GPU is the past. U should consider selling your GPUs.

Furthermore, there is a possibility that there are only so many crypto algos that they can fork into and soon, asics will be in all algos.
Developers will only be willing to fork so much until they eventually give up and there are only so many algos they can fork into. Once there are asics in each of them, it is game over for all these hard fork games.

Just my 2 cents and no I dont want a long argument
