It is possible BFL is the culprit, but seeing as Josh openly admitted it (well openly admitted expecting some confidence in the matter), I would expect he found the person to do this. The person who did this obviously used US based servers based on the IP's Theymos provided, ergo this was some amateur work. Social engineering will also result in a call log that can be traced back to the person who made the call. Law enforcement getting involved can track this as they would get the access.

Joshua Zipkin is the weak link here. I would not put it past him to have found someone to do this. The reason for that being that he was pretty hellbent on it. The BFL connection would need to actually find some actual evidence, with Zipkin he states the motive clearly and passionatly, making him the best avenue to investigate first. As it is the AMT connection is easy as Joshua Zipkin laid it out. He tends to be pretty stupid in ALL his attempts. His money laundering was a joke to trace. Blockchain analysis data shows exactly where he spent his money. Large sums invested in KNC's cloud, Some money to the now defunct Silk Road, and the rest to a large wallet with small sums being shuffeled around in such a way (and exact amounts demonstrating a pattern a retarded monkey could follow), into the same 2 wallets.

He already is in contempt of court for the class action against him (Gleb can post up the evidence as he has been privy to those conversations in PM)
He shows a blatent disregard for the legal system, where as BFL plays the line, leaning into illegal. They would be incredibly stupid to be behind this with so much light on them right now by the Feds. Zipkin on the other hand has sorta faded hence making him and his cohorts likelier suspects.

For this reason I am coming out swinging against them because there is plenty of circumstantial evidence against Zipkin to get him hauled to jail over this. BFL would be retarded to try this with law enforcement looking at them sideways right now.

@Bick, yes marto may actually be part of this due to his connection to Zipkin close friends in Bulgaria.
This also applies to Giorgio of Bitmine and Sam of KNC. I strongly believe this is an effort that involved a conspiracy of these players to have this happen. There is a financial interest here for them. They benefit IMMENSELY by seeing this forum go down as do a number of other players. And it is well known they meet at various events. So alot of backdoor action is going on.

"amtminers scam joshua zipkin scammer"
-Joshua Zipkin leaked skype chats http://bit.ly/1s7U2Yb
-For bitcoin to succeed the community must police itself.

Well, well, well! Ain't that special! I was just notified via email having the following text in its Subject:

Quote
Bruno, people are looking at your Linkedin profile

You wanna know the funny part? You're gonna love this. My last name is spelled incorrectly. I created that account years ago with having no idea what I was goin' use Linkedin for, but wanted to familiarize myself with the platform nonetheless at the time.

It gets funnier! NOBODY has ever viewed that account before, at least I never received an email stating such. I've never posted it anywhere on the internet, nor told anybody about it, yet there's Jeff Ownby a few minutes ago takin' a look-see.

And, it gets even funnier. One of my rarely used user accounts on this forum is attached to that email address.

I told you it was funny.

Well, let's see if I can make this even funnier. You guys are gonna love this!

Jeff[rey Scott] Ownby (I know you're reading this thread, or at the very least one of your fucked-up-in-the-head minions WILL bring it to your attention), please contact me within the next 24 hours and let me know you're ready to transfer to me $10K $20K $24,686.94 ($8,228.98 X 3) USD via bitcoin otherwise I turn this welcome revelation over to the authorities.

Very interesting. After the hacking of this forum, Jeff Ownby finds your Linkedin account.

Well, I will be the first to say that at least now we know BFL was indeed holding their craigslist garage sale at an opportune time. Considering they have laid off staff according to the informal sources.

Does this all mean that BFL knew they were about to close doors and did nothing to let customers know?

That would be very disturbing behavior right?

Wait, Eclipse Mining Consortium, a property of BFL (if I am not mistaken) is still operational. (for how long?...at least till the end of the month?)

Will Josh/BFL honor any funds owed to it's creditors or account holders?

------------------------

What does this mean for Cloud Mining Contracts? I guess we all know that there are many unfortunate souls who are about to lose their mining contracts. I guess it goes without saying. If you didn't show up at BFL's HQ and demand your refund, you are now clearly out of luck.

P.S. I also suspect and think at times that BFL is behind the hack. Like OP, I think they probably hired someone to hack the site? Reason is, everytime I have posted some truly embarrassing info/events, the site mysteriously goes offline. Coincidence? The last one being related to the closing of BFL's HQ. Right on time, poof, BitcoinTalk.org goes down.

Doing a quick trace I see that some bitcoins went to this outfit: https://twitter.com/blackbankmarket

Must be nice to accept bitcoin donations under the guise of a charity and use the funds to pay off debts and line your own pocketbook. I wonder how many laws Sonny Vleisides broke doing that, not to mention breaking terms laid out in his probation.

I'd say that fucker wants to go back to prison. Anybody penning the script for Continuing Bad?

tl;dr Just got refunded in PP from BFL and made a $1kAUD off it.

No notice; I randomly logged into PayPal and saw $6kAUD in my account and went WTF? Details showed:
Code:
22 Jan 2015	Refund Completed ...	$5,032.00 USD
22 Jan 2015 Currency Conversion Completed Details -$5,032.00 USD
22 Jan 2015 Currency Conversion Completed Details $6,053.55 AUD

when I originally purchased the 2 x BFL Singles 50GH/s in April, 2013 i only paid:
Code:
6 Apr 2013	Currency Conversion Completed Details	-$5,025.22 AUD
6 Apr 2013 Currency Conversion Completed Details $5,032.00 USD

so i made $1kAUD + they give me free cloud mining which made ~1btc. (altho i just remembered i paid 1.6btc to upgrade the order to a Monarch..)

In case my post wasn't clear last night, BFL spent the funds from their BDF site: http://www.bitcoindf.org/

Rhetorical question: Is BFL a charity now?

Josh is even more of a cock monkey than I already thought. He can't even live up to the original bet of donating 1000BTC to charity for failing to deliver their 65nm ASICs.

Take note of the date for that transaction and compare with what is stated in BDF: https://blockchain.info/tx/f877c405ce51b69155106a187693fb69e3aaf820aae8b74eaf35bd648b42719b

Butterfly Labs launches new charity while still behind on shipments

It's really hard to imagine a more ADD-afflicted, over-promising, under-delivering company than Butterfly Labs, and they're at it again. After just now managing to ship orders that were put in over a year ago for their ASIC miners (with an original fulfillment timeline of three months) and with plenty of more backlogged orders yet to be shipped, Butterfly Labs announced a couple of days ago that it would start taking orders for bulk chip sales. Now, today, they've started a charity called the Bitcoin Development Fundoh look a SQUIRREL!

Butterfly Labs announced this morning on their Facebook, the following:

Quote
Today, Butterfly Labs is giving a sneak peak at a new project that aims to promote charties and other projects that benefit the greater bitcoin community. The new site is called Bitcoin Development Fund and is intended to be a gathering place for those who wish to donate to various projects or charities through the use of bitcoin, but may not know where to go to do so or how to properly vet credible charities and projects.

Because we missed our power targets we set forth when we began our ASIC development, we are starting off the fund with a donation of 1000 BTC, which is valued currently over $120,000 USD. The BDF project will allocate funds to worthy charities and project as time goes on. Currently the BDF site is in phase one of the roll out, but more user interaction and participation in the selection of projects and charities to donate to is planned for phase two and three.

If you have a charity or open source project that you believe benefits the greater bitcoin community, please feel free to submit it to submit@bitcoindf.org. It will be reviewed and vetted by BitcoindDF for inclusion into the site.

If you wish to donate to the fund, you can send BTC to: 1ERVh27gZfPSDaaagL9R3W12xpMJ38ZBA7”

So far the fund has accumulated 773.946 BTC, which comes out to roughly $94,428 at the current USD/BTC value. The website – Bitcoindf.org – states that the fund was created to support projects that benefit the greater Bitcoin community. Although Butterfly Labs has stated on their Facebook that their production/development teams are not impacted by the creation of the charity program and that they are two entirely different departments, one Facebook commentator named Stephen Evangelou mirrored just about everybody's initial reactions:

Quote
“How about you stop wasting your valuable time and start pleasing some of the customers who made your company what is is today with pre-orders.”

Also, Zsolt Katona who posted,

Quote
“Ok, that is nice, but what the hell about SC shipping??? When will we got it? About 3 months? I have preordered 4 SC at august 2012. How many years I will have to wait for this product??? My outstanding profit is more than 37 000$/month, calculate actually data....Soo...”

Don't forget Dan Inglis who, in Lolcat fashion, posted,

Quote
“But I would like miner please”

Yes, Butterfly Labs, we can has mine now?

Even though it's true that Butterfly Labs' new charity is a separate department, the worrisome thing is how thin they seem to be spreading themselves as a whole. They keep adding new products and new services and new announcements, without even the most basic abilities to fulfill their initial orders. Even though they're doing better with shipment now, the fact still remains that they are shipping for products that were ordered a full year ago with no real gauge as to whether or not recent orders will be delivered anytime soon (will those take another year as well?). Not only that, but they're shipping Jalapenos, not the other ASIC models that people have been waiting on for over a year.

No one doubts that Butterfly Labs has good products (although few have seen them) or that they have good intentions, no more than anyone can doubt the intentions of a wide-eyed little boy who thinks he can build a go-kart out of cinder blocks. The fact is that the company seems to be overreaching, when really they should be putting all of their effort into the one thing that people want – their darn ASIC mines! The more they keep up these announcements while simultaneously making vague excuses mixed with long periods of silence, the more people may lose faith in their abilities.

... considering ...

Gold in them bits: Inside the world’s most mysterious Bitcoin mining company

Quote
Both Ownby and Ghosieri said that Butterfly Labs originally was founded in 2010 to manufacture FPGA hardware to conduct “stochastic analysis and Monte Carlo analysis” for banks, but the company soon pivoted toward selling Bitcoin miners.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monte_Carlo_methods_for_option_pricing

Quote
Monte Carlo Methods allow for a compounding in the uncertainty.[7] For example, where the underlying is denominated in a foreign currency, an additional source of uncertainty will be the exchange rate: the underlying price and the exchange rate must be separately simulated and then combined to determine the value of the underlying in the local currency. In all such models, correlation between the underlying sources of risk is also incorporated; see Cholesky decomposition #Monte Carlo simulation. Further complications, such as the impact of commodity prices or inflation on the underlying, can also be introduced. Since simulation can accommodate complex problems of this sort, it is often used in analysing real options [1] where management's decision at any point is a function of multiple underlying variables.

JO: Let's hook up and start an exchange.
NG: Let's build miners.
SV: Let's do both!
JZ: Guys, can I join? We can use the address across the street from my office as The Office until we get a real office.

Quote
Sonny Chris Vleisides, who pled guilty to one count of mail fraud in 2010 (PDF) for being involved in an international lottery scam, is an executive at BFL. Jeff Ownby, vice president of marketing and e-commerce at BFL, told Ars that Vleisides is the “lead product developer—he’s the guy who dreams up the projects," though he declined to provide more details beyond that.

Could you guys work faster at dismantling EMC Pool? (owned by the now defunct BFL)

I want to get pics of it going down the drain and hitting zero miners before the end of the month. Thanks.

Well, according to some dude who has an RO on my scammin' ass, I steal barn wood at night, and steal funds from charities that I start. For a hobby, I am a racist pig, confirmed by not one, not two, but three J.Z.s that all proved to be scammers in the Bitcoin space. They're gone, but I'm still here.

So, what do you do and where do you live? Thanks to one J.Z., everybody knows who I am.

Maybe the guy likes to buy/hack BCT accounts and fuck with all of us. And judging by the age of the account (2012 really??) I'm sure he already knows all there's to know about what goes on in BCT, anyway. Par for the course... and paranoia.
