this coin have everything it needs and more. only the name must be refurbished a bit, let people forgot about initial pump and dump
I personnaly like the name - and I see a LOT of positive responses all over the place (twitter - reddit - boards - slack). Many people are happy to see that this exciting project - idea is well on his track. +++ That being said - I started to use Reddit lately, and I must admit, in all respect for BTCBoards - that it is a very good plateforme to share ideas, news. I would suggest to all AUR supporters - helpers to loggin and participe. There is already a decent activity around AUR, but more would be welcomed. Interesting fact : a majority % of people registering to the AUR forum http://auroraspjall.is/ come from REDDIT. Was a bit of a surprise to me, but now I get why. Would at least register to : https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/https://www.reddit.com/r/Auroracoin/

I wouldn't mind too much about the people who know (or at least think to know) about the P&D greedy speculators did just before the initial airdrop. Let's remember here, we are focussed on Iceland. Out of the 10% of the people in Iceland that claimed their Auroracoins, My guess would be 0.05% might know about this forum and all the fud that happened here. The rest is still very positive towards this initiative. Auroracoin is a very good name and it absolutely covers the load.

Do you have some statistic on % of people on the latest version ? I think one of the other team members may have the stats on this, but I could tell you that it's still a large number. If you look at http://seeds.auroracoin.is/, the USA West node is the bridge node that allows the older clients to connect to the newer ones. The fact that it's much higher in connections is because there are still a ton of older clients connected to it. If needed, I can provide a list. The other nodes will only have the newer clients connected to them. -Fuse

(-------------------technical noob If we had the original alert keys, we could do that. However, we were not given the keys for the old code. So we added new keys to the code, and we will be able to push messages like this in the newer wallets. At some point we'll cut off the bridge node and just move on, but we figured we'd leave it open until we saw enough transition from the community. -Fuse

Switched to Bittrex as well but about a week ago I sold some leftover coins I had on Cryptsy and bought some AUR and it took me 7 withdrawal attempts to get all the AUR out as I would only get 6-900 coins in each withdrawal. I guess you only get what is in their hot wallet at each time which is a percentage (my guess 5-15%) of what they have in total. So that you are only getting 200-300 coins in each withdrawal means that Cryptsy has very little Auroracoins left. People are moving to Bittrex.

To compile on Linux you need to read the https://github.com/aurarad/auroracoin/blob/master-0.8/doc/readme-qt.rst for instructions. After installing dependencies you have to run: qmake make For UPNP and QRcode qmake "USE_UPNP=1", "USE_QRCODE=1" make I found the instructions did not have info for the QRcode libraries. Found them in instructions on how to compile Bitcoin core on Ubuntu.

Yes, people have been warning about Cryptsy for a while now. Sad to see them have trouble, been one of the most stable land liquid place to trade AUR/BTC. Check out https://bittrex.com/Market/Index?MarketName=BTC-AUR in the future.

Unfortunately cryptsy still is the most liquid aur/btc exchange. It could change today, though. A respectable selloff happened on bittrex (cheap auroracoins!! ;-) ) and cryptsy volume is around 3000 AUR for the day. bittrex is gaining importance though, and the price on cryptsy is certainly distorted by people trying to get funds out through altcoins, failing at that, etc...
